Chess: The Ultimate Chess Tactics and Strategies Reviews
-
Wow. Bad. You get a glued and sealed pamphlet basically with very basic beginner info about chess. Not for serious players. For the price I honestly couldn’t believe what I got.

This book has potential, but it is severely flawed by numerous careless mistakes. And, unfortunately, it appears to be supported by fake reviews.
The book begins by introducing chess notation, followed by a brief chapter on tips for becoming a strong chess player. The book assumes you already know how to play; it does not describe the moves of the pieces. The bulk of the book consists of excerpts from grandmaster games illustrating strategic and tactical concepts. In general, the examples are reasonably well chosen and do a good job of making the author’s points.
However, the reader will be constantly distracted by errors in the text. I have to admit that I did not read the entire book, because I got frustrated by all the mistakes. For example, while discussing the game played between Averbakh and Taimanov in Moscow in 1948, the author says, “3…Ne7 invites the crushing 4. Nd5.” The problem is that 4. Nd5 is a serious error which loses to 4…Rd3+. The proper 4th move for White is 4. Rxe7+!. After the reply 4…Kxe7, then 5. Nd5 is correct. The author hopefully knows all this, and perhaps the 5th move was mistakenly typed up as the winning 4th move. Another example is in the commentary to the game between Yusupov and Nilssen in Copenhagen in 2003. “If Kh8, Yusupov will answer with Rf6.” Actually, Rf6 is impossible – the rook is on g7 and cannot move to f6. The author actually meant Rf7. These types of errors are so numerous that they ruin the book. If the author corrects all these mistakes, this could be a useful book.
Who is the target audience? This is not a beginner’s book. To profit from this book, you should already know how to play. You should be past the point of leaving pieces where they can simply be taken by an alert opponent. Most likely you will already be better than most of your family and friends, with skill approximately equivalent to a United States Chess Federation rating of about 1000 or higher.
Many kindle chess books are supported by fraudulent reviews, and I am afraid this is true for this book. None of the 14 reviews written so far say anything to make me think the reviewer actually read the book. Most of them talk about how the book is perfect for beginners. Or they talk about how the reviewer is now such a better player after reading this book, even though the review was written only a few days after the book was first sold on . Chess is not such an easy game that you can become dramatically better in 4 days. Read the reviews carefully yourself and see if you believe them. -
This book was written well and explained a lot of strategy in a way that I could understand. I'm not a beginner, but I'm not an expert in the game either. This book helped better my skills!!

Bought this book for my Grandson, he has been playing chess for a few years now and was interested in opening strategies after watching “The Queen’s Gambit” and found this book to be informative.

Chess is an interesting play and international play. I was in chess club earlier, and I thought I was good, but I wanted to get competitive. It has some rules of the game and some instructions on how to play it. Everything was discussed briefly. The book was quick and to the point, and I especially liked the sections on castling and closings. The diagrams were also very useful. I'm looking forward to trying out some of these strategies the next time I play a friend, or any other online player. Good book for beginners to learn about chess.

This is a superb book about chess and how to turn yourself from a beginner to a great player. The book starts from the basics like how does the board work and the significance of various pieces and goes onto explain various techniques. The book has been written very well and is easy to understand. The techniques explained keep getting complex and as a player the book keeps updating you level.
Overall, I highly recommend this book. -
Improving the playing technique and strength in chess is always a good way to win each game. I have this book to learned and it never fails me. I got and know a lot of technique and tactics now. I am excited playing my next game and apply what I learned. I will share this book to my husband who also loves to play chess so much.

Doesn't really teach. It just gives blow by blow accounts of famous games. I guess you are supposed to learn the tactics that way but its not a great teaching method. Maybe some will like it but not me.
-
Quality of book is poor the pages bent outwards after reading. Couple of writing errors within the books. Lots of words, very little illustrations. Strategies within are not bad.
-
I learn't very limited tactical information from this book. it's not worth the money. There are much better books available for the same price.
-
Fantastic book on chess.

While I still intend to read the book, I was very disappointed to find several pages are stuck together, which rip apart when you try to pull them away from each other. As a result, some information written in the book is impossible to read.
Also, my book is actually Printed along side another book called “Coffee Self talk for Teen Girls”, which is the first half of the book itself. That is not the main issue but it is very weird. I am pretty sure that is not how it was meant to be.
In conclusion, my reading experience is ruined by terrible printing which caused pages to stick together, making them impossible to read. Disappointing from .
