Oklahoma has a history that's both notorious and peculiar, from legendary natives like Giggling Granny-a jovial woman responsible for as many as eleven murders-to Shaman's Portal, a gateway said to have swallowed handfuls of unsuspecting travelers over the last few centuries.  And keep your camera at the ready for shape-shifting “manimals”! On this tour of the Sooner State, you'll encounter the outlandish, exceptional, and bizarre.

If your visiting Oklahoma or a resident like I am this book is a must read. Full of historical facts and places too see. I learned so many interesting things about our special state. I will be buying other Weird books by Wesley Treat to learn about other states as well. I loved all the pictures on each page. When I was done I passed the book on to my sons teacher so she could read to her students about our great state of OKLAHOMA.

Fun facts from Oklahoma that you probably won't learn in Oklahoma History. Scary ghost stories, gruesome murders, and even a few UFOs. If you're looking for a great coffee table book with great pictures AND good reading...this is it!

There's nothing like finding out about interesting things in your own state that you were never aware of. This book lists a lot of places that I now would very much like to visit, and several places that I was aware of and have been. The stories are fun and interesting, and in some cases, not quite accurate. I loved reading about my own state and learning things that have fired my imagination, plus ignited my desire to add some that the author missed.

My family and i went to some of the the places in the book. We made it a weekend adventure mapped them out and went to the ones that were close to us. We still have some to do but they are a little far from us.
