    بنظرم میان کتب ترجمه شده به فارسی ، سر راست ترین و جامع ترین راه برای ورود مقدماتی و گستردن مسئله زیست-سیاست باشد ، اگر اشتباه نکنم سه ترجمه مختلف دارد ، نشر مرکز ، نشر ثالث و نشر روزنه (که من این‌یکی را خواندم ولی ظاهرا در گوودریدز ثبت نشده) که آخری ترجمه «مستانه فرنام» است و با بررسی ای که متن هر سه را کردم (البته خیلی کوتاه) با تطابق با سنت ترجمه این مبحث و روانیت از منظر فنی و ترمینولوژیکی و ادبی همچنین ، آخری ، یعنی ترجمه فرنام از همه به نظرم بهتر آمد ضمن اینکه یک مقدمه مخصوص نسخه ترجمه فارسی هم خود توماس لمکه به آن افزوده ، سیاوش مسلمی با نسخه آلمانی (اصلی) تطابقش داده و فرید قدمی هم ویراستاریش کرده !

    موضوعاتش هم برداشت قدیمی از عنوان کتاب یعنی زیست-سیاست به عنوان فتح باب و بعد مسئله فوکو ، نگری ، آگامبن و همچنین اشاراتی جزئی به نظریات هم‌قطاران آنهاست. یک نگاهی هم هم به خوانش انگلوساکسون و متاخر این مسئله پسافوکویی می اندازد ، مثل رابینو یا گیدنز و سایرین و با جمع بندی و معاصر کردن موضوع مبحث را خاتمه می دهد.

    به عنوان حسن ختام مبحث باید به عنوان نظر شخصی اشاره کنم که خوانش لمکه نسبت به خوانش های رادیکال تر مثل فوکو ، دلوز و گتاری ، نگری و هارت ، آگامبن و ... نسبتا محافظه کارانه است و بنظرم قدرت های این مفهوم را تا حدی خنثی می کند !

    A very clear and readable introduction to this topic. It gives a good overview of the various interpretations of and approaches to this topic, both contemporary and historical. I'm not sure why it's called "advanced"; maybe because you're supposed to have some background in theory. Otherwise it seems like a good book to read before delving into Foucault, Agamben, Rabinow, etc'

    A fine intro to biopolitics. I spent fucking money on this book when, in the end, we really did not even need it for class and it was all unnecessary. I read maybe 40 pages of this.

    This is a book on a fascinating and important area of contemporary philosophy and sociology. Unfortunately, the author's (and possibly the translator's) lack of clarity made it difficult to truly appreciate. Nonetheless, this book pointed me towards other volumes on this topic I would like to explore at some point.
