Bo Rider is an agent for the CIA, specializing in recruiting foreign scientists to spy on their own nation’s intel and pass it along to the United States. He loves his job and is extremely dedicated to it. As a result, his marriage is struggling along as is his relationship with his children. His current mission involves his recruit in China passing along information on a satellite the Chinese have secretly launched. When the satellite is discovered, the Chinese claim it is a weather satellite. However, the true purpose of the satellite is to disable U.S. satellites, which in turn disables trade and commerce and communications. Can Bo really believe his spy? Is this information legit? Or is his spy feeding him incorrect intel? To complicate matters, an old archeologist friend has gotten herself arrested in China while on a dig and put in jail there. Unfortunately for Bo, she knows one of his biggest secrets and if the Chinese find out what it is, lives will be lost. Bo now has to try to get Amber Worthing free while trying to verify his spy’s information. What more could happen? How about a child custody legal battle involving Amber Worthing’s young son? For me, this has been the best story to date from the Munsons that I have read. There was plenty of action, tension and suspense. The story was easily believable and could have come off the front page of any newspaper. It piqued my interest and was very intriguing. My only negative was that I didn’t like one particular aspect of the main character, Bo Rider. While I admired his dedication and loyalty to his job, his courage and skill at his job, he put his job before his wife and children. He didn’t seem to understand why they might be upset with him always being gone and leaving at the drop of a hat, never knowing where he was going or when he would return. It seemed as if he blamed them for any conflicts or negative emotions. I will be curious watch this character’s development if he appears in other stories. Otherwise, this is a really good book that readers can sink their teeth into and immerse themselves. I hope to read Redeeming Liberty next and see what new adventure presents itself.
My rating is 4 stars.
