Pro fighter turned tattoo artist and now, texting buddy. Killian Blaze is as hot as his name and a complete stranger. So why is he texting me back? I want a tattoo to honor the only man who ever loved me, my dad. I'm shy, almost a recluse. I find it difficult to leave the house let alone talk to strangers so how can I communicate my desire for a tattoo? At first, I think Killian won’t help me. He’s a famous tattoo artist, surely he won't have time, but we start texting and discussing designs. We start texting a lot. Killian is older, experienced, and we have only ever communicated through text. How can I feel such a connection with a stranger? I’m curvy, and very shy, nothing like the ring girls from his previous life as a fighter. I’ve never had a boyfriend, never even kissed anybody. Can I trust this stranger who sends me hot and steamy texts? Will he lift me up and help me come out of my shell or leave me all alone to lock myself away? * Texting the Tattooist is an insta-everything standalone instalove romance with a HEA, no cheating, and no cliffhanger.

Not only do I have a pretty high tolerance for cheesy insta-love KU romances like this, I fricken love them. This book, however, was something else 😂 when she got shy and ran off to the bathroom to text him the answer to the personal question he asked her, I just lost it. Thank God there were THREE epilogues to let us know how the couple fared 1 month, 1 year, and 10 years down the line 😂😂😂

  • Kylee

This age gap romance is my first read by this author and I thoroughly enjoyed it. Killian and Mia have an instant attraction the moment they see a photo and start texting. Killian is protective and Mia has lived in a protective bubble all her life. As Killian's past comes back to haunt him and Mia wants to push herself forward, these two will find themselves unable to stop the intense attraction. There were some cheesy lines but it made the story a little more lovable. If you like your men protective and a little older and you like the chemistry and heat sizzling then this is the story for you. It was a unique storyline that also held your attention from start to finish.

Why did I read this? There were so many red flags lol also they weren’t kidding when they said this was an insta-love romance. I’m also disappointed there wasn’t more smut…

Edit: I’m deducting a star because I remembered the FMC referred to her vagina as her “sex.” And the MMC referred to his penis as his “manhood.” 💀

This is an ARC review and may have spoilers. Please be careful.

    Possible TW, Tropes, and Genres
Mature, Novella, Dual POV, Texting, Spicy, Romance, Instalove, Stand-alone, Age Gap (Older Man 40s / Younger Woman 19), Virgin, Boxing (spoken about), Mafia (spoken about), Cartel (spoken about), Pregnancy, Home Invasion, Dognapping (Dog in unharmed), Death of Parents (off page), Suicide (off page), Mental Health Issues (Anxiety, Panic Attacks, Agoraphobia, Paranoia, Recluse, Possivle Manic/Mania Episodes on and off page, and possibly more), Poverty, Masturbation, Sexting, Contemporary Romance, HEA,

    Spice, good.
I quite enjoyed the sexting bits, and that neither asked for sexually explicit pics/videos. They just let their written words and their imaginations do all the work. The word helm came up a lot, and I have to admit I laughed every time. Also, thank you author, for not doing the "I could feel her hymen break" stuff, when it came to physical sexual activities. That for me, is often weird and even off putting at times.

    Characters, interesting.
I found Killian, 40, to be quite an interesting character, from boxer, dog lover to tattooist.
Mia, 19, was an interesting character. She dealt with her own mental health issues and that of her parents, all the while seeming to try and find that silver lining.

    Plot, also quite interesting.
I would enjoy learning more about Killian's past. It is touched on here and there in this book, but one just about his past, and time in the ring would be interesting. I don't mind age gap romance, and while 40 and 19 is quite a gap, the bit of the story that was not wrapped around their instalove, didn't make a big deal out of the gap. Neither did the few other characters we come across in the story. There was an interesting bit of background stuff going on from Killian's past, which again, I think I would enjoy reading specifically about his past.. And the past of the characters we meet from his past.

There is quite a lot of talk about mental health issues. How it can hamper the characters day to day lives, and things that occurred in the past from this. I think overall the author handled this well, especially in an insta-love romance. I think it might be advantageous to add in some universal mental health information, phone numbers sites, etc.

    Overall good.

I really didn't like it. And here's an example of why and that was only a few pages in after he seen ONE picture of her:

"like she needs her man - me - to guide her....her breasts made for massaging, for pleasing...and for feeding my children...our children"

    Like what the fuck

It all moved so fast and the way both of them wanted to have a baby within knowing each other of less than a week was just too much. He was always mentioning her 'young' body or that no one else has gotten to touch her and only he ever will.

The only good thing was that it was a quick read but it was almost painful to get through.

I enjoy a good Age Gap romance when it presents itself. I have read several, sure, they are kind of icky, but a good one is a good one. This one had a lot of potential, but, as I have said in other reviews before, some things catch my ADHD's attention and it becomes my whole focus. This book really did my head in.

I will start with what I didn't really care for: I like instalove, but this one felt weird. I mean it was like, weird. Red flag. The comments he would make in his mind about her virginal young body, was creepy. It is kind of hard to explain. Again, I like a good age gap, and have read ones where the age gap was the same as Mia and Killian and it was not like this. The over excessive use of the words "my man" and "my woman" every couple of sentences. For the sake of getting this review to be approved on other platforms, the fact he referred to his "member" as "helm" was off putting, and doing it way more than one time...like every time. Not sure how I feel about the writing style, but I have been told some books by this author are hit or miss, and while this one is a miss for me, I will try out some others to try again.

To end on positives, there were things I did like, but unfortunately, it was not enough to give it a higher rating then I did. I thought the story held promise and I really liked the idea/concept. I feel like the texting and falling in love is pretty relevant to today. I liked seeing Mia blossom. I liked him calling her Butterfly and feel that is very appropriate for her situation and who she was. I liked all the epilogues and seeing their gazillion kids and still feeling their love.

No dogs were hurt in this story, in case you are an animal lover like me...could care less about the humans LOL.

Their Wild and Wonderful Road To Forever -
Mia had been home schooled her entire life, which led her to live in fear of the outside world. However, she felt a spark within her, that gave her the confidence to not only want more in her life, but also to embark on a relationship with Killian. On the other hand, Killian had resigned himself to being single and just concentrating on his business. That is until he took one look at Mia’s picture and felt like his world had shifted and he needed Mia to bring his life back into focus.

Unfortunately, their path to happiness didn’t run smooth, as it involved someone from Killian’s past who continuously reeked havoc on their lives, as well as doing everything in their power to get Mia’s mum back to living a normal life. Fortunately, being together gave them the confidence to fight for what they wanted, which led them to get the happily ever after they craved.

This was a heartbreaking story about two broken souls helping each other heal from the pain in their past, whilst building on their love for each other. The story had quite a suspenseful moments, which made the story really interesting and had me glued to the pages, which on the edge of my seat. Grab a copy of this amazing book and enjoy the wonder work of this talented author.

Jeeez… where to start. This book was just a bit of an eye roll for me 🙄

    For starters…

    Instalove on speed
This was just a bit too extreme. He’s sees one picture of her and that’s it. He’s 110%. She’s having his babies. It was just a bit TOO fast.

    Baby-maker
A guy who fantasises about babies and motherhood? It just sounds like a girl talking. And it’s kind of creepy.

    A literary fighter?
A fighter who quotes the Great Gatsby? I don’t believe it. Again, it just sounded like a girl talking.

    Non-Aspirational heroine
I get it. She had mental health issues. But she was so weak! He kept saying how strong she was which just got annoying after a while. He wanted to look after her. Ok. But it all felt a tad psycho-controlling.

    Thick thighs
He’s always harping on about his weeping ‘helm’ and her thick thighs. Some of the language just felt weird and killed the mood for me. I am not sure I was into the writing style. It felt ‘clunky’.

    Character depth
I just felt there was none. I never knew these two. They just felt very surface.

    Age gap
Her 19 year old virginal status was emphasised a lot. It kind of icked me out how much he loved it.

This was just not my thang.

The story of an older man falling helplessly in love with a younger woman, at first sight, is not a new story arc. It is wish fulfillment for many women and gets written often ... especially with a guaranteed HEA.

This story stands out for me because it tackles mental health, specifically agoraphobia.

The realistic side of me thinks that their relationship text or in-person developed too quickly but it might also be a cultural thing (for me). Where I'm from even holding hands on the first date is already a big step.

The added factor of the thug messing in Killian's life gives a touch of danger that validates Mia's fears but simultaneously acts as a catalyst to bring them physically together.

To be honest, I can't, for the life of me, figure out how they can be texting in the throes of passion. My eyes blur and I wouldn't be able to text worth shit in her shoes, lol!

HEA is guaranteed so if you decide to read this book you know you get a happy ending so it's the journey you can look forward to.

    Different, but cute! 🥰
    • Story/Plot: 📖📖📖
    • Characters: 🫂🫂🫂🫂
    • Drama/Angst: 😰😰😰
    • Steam: 🔥🔥
    • HEA: ✔️
    • Re-readable? Probably not, but I’ll read her next book 😉

This book was certainly different! It centers around an agoraphobic FMC and an ex-boxer, tattoo-artist MMC. The FMC wants a tattoo, so she texts the MMC that she found online and was instantly smitten with. The MMC looks up a picture of her online and is also instantly smitten.

There’s lots of drama including an on-going mental health crisis of the FMC’s mom after the death of the FMC’s dad, who also had mental health issues. There’s also danger from the MMC’s past.

The development of the relationship via text was certainly unique and there’s lots of character growth for all through the story.

Every time I read the authors latest release, I asked myself what would be the reason that would hinder the relationship of our MCs. We know that the MMCs has that longing inside of finding his better half, and the FMC is a young adult just beginning to experience the world. And when the two meet, instant recognition that he/she is the person he/she is looking for.

The characters are relatable. I can easily emphasize with the MCs and understand their plight though there are instances that they have been exaggerated, which we sometimes also do. The relationship of the MCs started with a text, most of their interactions are through text, and the courting was likewise through text.

I always loved the epilogues. I loved knowing the ever of our MC's happily.

I received this book with the understanding that I could leave a voluntary and honest review.

In this book we meet Mia Nelson & Killian Blaze. Mia is a woman who rarely leaves her home and when she does she is riddled with anxiety. One night she reaches out to Killian to ask him about getting a tattoo for her father. She isn't sure why she does it since she doesn't have the money and isn't sure she can leave her house but she writes him anyway. Killian gets lots of requests for tattooing but there is just something about this request that has him wanting to know more. See there is a part of him that wants more in his life and one look at Mia's picture has him knowing she is that more. Can they find a HEA or will they only ever be texting friends?

Another amazing story by this author. I would highly recommend it to anyone and everyone.

  • Happyscribe

I can honestly say I loved the premise of this book (hello who doesn't fantasise about mysterious people who terxt and intrigue you - well until you look them up online and realise they are probably potential stalker types, or are married, or are players, or are all of the above. Anyway I digress...)

The Text Me You Love Me series has been such a blast. I particularly like this instalment with Killian, darling broken Killian. He's such a beautiful soul with the way he relates to, supports and encourages Mia to find herself and her place in the world.

This was way more emotional a read than I had expected so go you Flora Ferrari - you got me in the heart with this one!.

A moving story about overcoming a phobia and trauma. Killian used to be a boxer but now has his own tattoo shop. and Mia works from home because her childhood with an unstable father has made her and her mother afraid of the outside world. I think this is a book that people who also live with those fears and phobias can relate to. But with a lot of patience and texting Killian, she works towards facing and working on her fears. A beautiful story with support, danger, protective urge and lots of steam and hot moments between them.

This is the first book I have read from this author, and let me just say that I'll try and read more books from her.
This book was amazing. I could relate to Mia and her fear of the unknown. Killian really shows that he cares about Mia and would do anything to make her happy.
Their relationship is amazing. They both know what they want, and while Mia is scared, Killian is willing to hold her hand and wait for her to see that there is nothing to be scared of when they are together.
Would totally recommend this book to other romance readers. Love it!!.

Mia’s sheltered upbringing was untraditional which causes some difficulties in the present as she tries to be supportive towards her mom. A desire to remember her father with a tattoo brings Killian into her life and shows her what her life could be like.

Killian is a successful tattoo artist who is enchanted by Mia before they even meet. He knows that she is special and is determined to protect her from everything and everyone and that includes his past.

I enjoyed the evolution of Mia as Killian’s support allowed her to be the woman she was meant to be while Killian is both protective and understanding as they face the obstacles they need to overcome.

  • Raelene

This is the second book I’ve read by Flora Ferrari, and I think I need to just accept that her writing style isn’t for me. I didn’t care for the first book I read but was hopeful that maybe after a couple years, it would be different. Unfortunately that was not the case.

I did like the texting element of this story. Normally I am fine with age gaps in books, but I didn’t love the way it was done with this story. The frequency and timing of Killian calling Mia young just wasn’t ideal, at least for me.

This was a pretty quick read, which is nice. The multiple epilogues didn’t seem necessary to me, but I’m sure some people loved that aspect.

  • Brandie KK

This was my first Ferrari book and although it was interesting, it didn't immediately inspire me to jump into another book of hers. I usually like mafia romances and while this isn't specifically mafia-themed, it does have a strong alpha-male lead. Some of the wording (like constantly referring to his penis as his "manhood") had me laughing while the obsession with him having a virgin was cringe-worthy. Also, the entire storyline seemed rushed, especially the backstory with the cartel. Was it an easy read? Yes. Will I most likely read another Ferrari book? Yes. Would I rush to read another Ferrari book? No.

  • Lindsey Tello

I don't know how she was able to keep herself in doors at all times. And it breaks my heart when you read about her mom breaking down and stated she's not good enough to be her mother. The passing of her father has been extremely hard on them both. But our little shy bird wants a tattoo to remember her father by and that's exactly where her love story starts. Miss never gets out is about to have her world rocked. Absolutely loved their story.

I loved this story! Killian is a famous tattoo artist/former boxer & Mia is scared of everything, no thanks to her parents.

One day, he receives a message from a young lady that wants a tattoo done in honour of her father. Being well known, he googles her to find out more about her.

When he looks at a picture of her, he is mesmerised. He agrees to do the artwork for her, but will she turn up?

What ensues, is a beautiful, sweet & steamy story to melt your heart.

Well done Flora. I need more!
