When I thought I saw hope on the horizon, that hope was smashed to bits by - you guessed it - another damn dragon.
That Time I Got Drunk and Saved a Human (Mead Mishaps, #3) Reviews
-
Gah I dunno, this was cute but it didn’t slay me.
My public library failed me horrendously and refused to purchase copies of this book, so I caved a shelled out for the ebook. I did not regret it. This was some cute stuff right here. This was extremely light and fun and just a good time overall.
I’m not giving it full stars (and really it’s probably less than a four, under normal circumstances) because the insta-love was a little boring for me and the adventure was just ok.
I did give it extra points for all the fun moments from previous characters, like Fallon and Felix (I love that dumb werewolf) giving advice and getting it wrong. And as always I liked the tongue in cheek, playful way that Lemming pokes fun at monster smut .
I loved seeing Alexis again but what happened to her and where did she go at the end?
So this was good but lacked something; maybe a deeper connection between the mains, maybe more time spent after returning to Boohail, more spice? I dunno. Maybe one day Lemming will give us an ACTUAL EPILOGUE THAT’S LONGER THAN TWO FREAKING PAGES, but I’m not mad about it 😡 (I’m totally mad about it)…
So if you are going in to these, note that reading them in series order increases enjoyment 10000 times. You will miss a lot if you don’t. This will still, and always, be one of my comfort series and I highly recommend it.
************************************
Happy launch day everyone!
Now to convince my public library to buy some freaking copies.
—————————————————————————————
To anyone who got an arc of this I’m mad jealous and have unfriended each and every one of you. 😡
To anyone who didn’t get an arc, I’d love to do a multiple Buddy read situation. A polyread? We’ll come up with a name. Lemme know if you are interested. -
Now catching up on my reviews, and I’m noticing that I’ve been on a cozy romantasy streak recently. Does two in a row make a streak? Probably not. Never mind.
So this final Mead Mishaps book follows Cherry, the sister of Cinnamon (the first book’s heroine), who everyone thought was dead. But weirdly enough, the book isn’t about her reunion with her long-lost sister. That never comes up. We only get to see the development of her relationship with Dante, the dragon hero. Bechdel test? Don't know her.
Much like the other installments, there’s insta-love on the part of the hero, who’s both possessive and obsessive and spends most of the book actively restraining himself from kidnapping the heroine and locking her in his castle so no one else can have her. Now, is he a psychopath? Yeah. But, like, he’s sweet about it, so shhhhhhh. It’s fine.
Technically that wraps up the series for me, though I really really want to read the
Mistlefoe novella, because Alexis the talking sword remains the absolute best character in the series. -
I swear someone told Kimberly Lemming they weren't sure if she could make this series better so she told them to hold her beer while she created Dante (H) and his mate in all their romantic, fun, adventurous sightseeing glory. Dante starts out with the rest of the gang in Boohail before he plans to leave to hunt for his mate. The scene we get on how they were teaching Dante how to handle a human, priceless. It's made clear to him that human mates are different than demon ones, but that really gets hammered home once he finds his mate and a touch of chaos ensues. But thankfully, these two aren't on a quest or tasked with world saving. After an important rescue, they're spending time together, figuring out if their relationship can work, wooing and falling in love, and seeing new things. And we, as lucky readers, get to see a bit more of the overall world too including some nifty creatures. There's also a touch of danger here and there and one mysterious element that ended up being far more dramatic than I expected. Plus Alexis, because talking swords for the win. Written in first person, dual POV (with one additional POV of a side character). No ow/om drama, H didn't seem to be a virgin, and h was a virgin.
As usual, this story had a ton of humor and heart. Dante is definitely my favorite of the heroes in the series so far. I loved his personality, his "my wife" energy, and how supportive he was to his mate (while trying to also win her over to being his mate and keep her safe). Dante had a lot of loneliness prior to the events that happened in book 1 and he truly needed his person. His mate (who I guess I need to avoid naming now that I think about it, because spoilers) was another great heroine in this series. She had been kept locked away so missed crucial changes in the world, as well as basic human contact. But she didn't turn fearful or vengeful, she had sass, curiosity, and energy. She also needed a person who was there for her and she definitely gets that. She does keep her full identity a secret from Dante and I was just laughing at times like "please just figure this out." The balance of their relationship becoming more emotionally intimate and of the steamy times was also well executed. Dante also brings the dirty talk game and there's even a "you need to be quiet" scene.
For side characters, the Boohail gang from the prior two books appear and Fallon and Felix specifically offer human mate coaching that was awesome. There are other new characters that get introduced and most were fun, although a few were villainous, but most of the book is Dante and his mate.
The ending is HEA, but does end a bit abruptly. I really wanted a little more time in the epilogue, esp the scene that the books ends on. Still, they're mated, in love, and happy so in that sense, it was great. I'm not sure which Mead Mishaps characters are up next but I'll be waiting! I'm hoping for Sunbeam and her orc mate. -
I swear Kimberly Lemming puts crack in these books, they are so addictingly charming and fun! For anyone who enjoyed the first two books in the series, this one reads similarly but with new characters and places to explore. Dante was an absolute gem, the way he wanted to get down on his knees and worship Cherry from the beginning was perfect, especially when you take into account the way their relationship developed.

4.25 blushing-when-shifting and checking-monsters-sizes stars
Ummm… this was cuuute… I’ll try not to spoil one huge aspect… if you read it, you’ll find out why in chapter 2…
Dante (704 🤣 so this is an age gap 🤡 🤣) wants to find his mate. He’s jealous (in a good way) of Fallon/Cin and Felix/Brie and he wants that 🥹. He’s been practicing with Cin and Usha so that, when he DOES find his mate, he doesn’t break any bones since “humans” are more delicate 🤣. He doesn’t know if his mate will be human, but he also doesn’t know WHO his mate will be- and he wants to be more aware of his strength when he finds her 😅.
His mate (23), let’s call her Princess for now 😅 (Dante calls her that 🥹 which she hates 🤣), has been trapped/kidnapped/abducted by a dragon- Gideon. She’s alone, with no one to talk to (not even Gideon), so she’s used to talking to herself, fine by me- she’s hilarious 🤣. She’s tried to escape, but she’s OBVIOUSLY been unsuccessful 😏. She manages to build a raft and, all of a sudden, the weather becomes intense. She has to save it! Spoiler alert- her raft dies 😒 lol but that’s because Dante has arrived.
And if you’ve read book 2, you know Dante is a STORM dragon 💁🏻♀️.
Dante’s there because he’s checking on his family “friend” Gideon who’s been depressed/kind of MIA for a while. When he’s there, he smells something.
Something delicious…
Something like… his mate 👀…
And now he’s gonna claim her 😈 after making sure she’s okay and all that, of course 👀.
Little does he know that the tea she gives him isn’t an ordinary tea 😬… and, well, he… um… might be a little more than just drunk 🤣.
What I loved/liked: POSSIBLE SPOILERS
—the banter 🤣. Kimberly Lemming killlllls it with the banter 🤣 and it’s just so fluid and quick that it makes me double take sometimes😅. But then, I’m like “yup. I’d think the same too” 🤣. This book, like all the others I’ve read, makes me smile and laugh soooo much 🤣.
—the tension 👀. Ufff… it can get so good in this book 😮💨. Dante wastes no time and claims her early 💅 but then… he feels so bad after that it becomes kind of a slowish burn 😏
—the drugging/drunk scene 🤣. Oh. My. Gosh Dante out of it was one of the best things ever 🤣. Him telling her he can’t perform and having snakes for arms had me 💀. It leads to him taking her to HIS place so 🤷🏻♀️
—Dante’s swoony side 🥰. He’ll do anything for his mate 🥹 he’ll go anywhere she wants to go 😊. Whatever makes her happy 🫠
—the few 🔥 scenes we get. We get two full scenes and a couple of unfinished one 😒 (cue blue *****). Sigh. It’s on the medium slow burn side (60% ish), but Dante does not play 😮💨. He’s in it to win in, and he HAS to make sure she’s ready 🥵. As he should 💅💁🏻♀️
—his 🐱 obsession, and I’m not talking about Rebekah 🤣. I love me a man that loves eating hearty breakfasts 😮💨 and Dante looooves it 🔥😉
—the quests. These were fun and Dante’s all about making sure his Princess is happy 🥹❤️
—ALEXIS!!! Girl. I missed youuuuuu!!! This girl needs her own body and novella (not sure about a full length book 😅 cause this girl be cray cray 🤣)
—FELIX’S WAGGING TAILLLL! The fact that it makes an appearance again had me soo soo happy 🤣 yeah. I was feeling all gushy with how cute it is 🥹🤣
—the previous characters/MCs from the first two books. Sigh 🥹 since KL refuses to write nice epilogues 😒, I’m soooo glad we get to see all the MCs/characters from previous books in this one
—Rebekah 🤣. I definitely found myself busting up with this cuuute, wittle kitty 🥹 bahahaha IYKYK
—the book of beasts… and, ahem, well, the… um… beasts sizes 😅. Listen… um… listen 👀. Aint no way we wouldn’t be excited is this ACTUALLY existed 😅. Flash a book at a male and find out ALLLLLL you NEED to know (🫣😉😉😉) about him… now THAT would be amazing 🤣. I found this hilarious! The way these males kept comparing sizes had be smiling like a lunatic 🤣 and then… we have Alexis as our poor, defenseless (pssst) tribute willing to check it all 🤡 just so, you know, it’s accurate 🤣💀. Omg 🤣 just writing this has me gasping 🤣🤣🤣
—Dante blushing when he needs to change into a dragon 🤣🥰 awwww!!! So so so cuuuuute 🥹 who’da thunk a 700+ male would EVER blush in front of his female 😅
—when Princess kicks him like a horse and he retaliates by flying like he doesn’t have his mate on his back had me busting up 🤣
—the singing bet 👀. Let’s just say, Dante didn’t need to sing 🤣 because 😮💨🥵😉🔥
What I wanted more of: SPOILERS
—the LACK OF A GOOD EPILOGUE!! KL, girl, make it longer please 😭. I really wish the stuff we get in the epilogue had happened IN the book and wasn’t part of the epilogue so that we could get a better one 😭
—ummm… the reuniting scene… I needed more 😭. After allllll this time, I needed more! It’s been books since this whole journey happened… come on!!! 😭😑😏😐 it just *ends* right after… like… 😐 ugh
—Alexis? Where’d you go girl? She’s there helping during all the battle stuff and then… poof… we don’t see her. I REALLY hope the next book has her getting her own book 👀
—more 🔥 times 😏. It’s so much of them two being together, I wished we had more 🤷🏻♀️
Overall, I still loved this but I loved it less than books 1 and 2

This was excellent!!!! For lovers of this authors books, they will understand that this book is like coming home. All the characters are there, along with Dante and his new fated mate Cherry.
We follow them on a journey of discovery into adventure, love, and some earth-shattering Smex! Just perfect 🥰 -
I don’t know if it’s because I’m in a reading slump but this book was a struggle to finish, it was so boring at parts that it took me weeks to finish, I’m incredibly sad because I loved the other two books.
-
dnf
i got bored. idk maybe i’ll try the audiobook when it comes out -
I was lucky enough to receive the ARC of this book in exchange for an honest review. Literally my first ARC ever, so I’m so excited! 🍾
This book follows the Dragon, Dante, and his fated mate (I don’t want to give away who it is so I won’t say her name).
Dante is over the moon happy to have finally found his mate, however, she’s not too thrilled. She had been captured and held prisoner by another Dragon, so she’s very skeptical about him and doesn’t trust him. She’s not sure about tying herself to another Dragon now that’s she’s finally become free again.
If you loved the first two books in this series, I think you’re also going to enjoy this one!
The relationship dynamic between Dante and his mate is very similar to Cinnamon & Fallon. However, the formula for the book reminds me of book 2 more because all of the action and plot started to take off at the 70% mark.
Chapter 2 shocked me when it opened! My jaw literally dropped once I realized who his mate was! That was so fun!
The book is also super cozy, lovable, and funny just like the other books in the series! There were so many funny lines that I think it’s one of the most highlighted books on my Kindle!
He also calls her princess which I thought was so freaking cute 🥰 way to go, Dante.
And our friend Alexis makes an appearance again!
Now for the CONS… In my opinion there is a lot less spice and romance in this book than the others in the series, which was a tad disappointing. The spice didn’t really take off until the 65% marker.
I also wish there could have been a more interesting adventure that took place in this book, like what happened in book one.
I was expecting Cin, Fallon, Dante, and his mate to go on the epic adventure that was brought up earlier on in the story. But that didn’t happen.
The entire book I kept waiting to get back to what I thought the story line would be. So I was a bit let down with plot, because I think it could have been so much more interesting.
It didn’t really feel like anything happened until the very end. So I wish there could have been more spice and romance throughout the story to make up for it. Because I felt like it was lacking in romance and also in plot.
The ending also felt very random, thrown together, and not really thought out. Almost like it was made up on the spot.
I enjoyed being back inside the Mead Mishaps world, but I felt kind of disappointed with this one. The rest of the books so far are an easy 5⭐️s though.
I hope the next book follows Cin, Fallon, Dante, and his mate (I’m trying not to give away who his mate is) going on an adventure to get the one Dragon’s hoard that was mentioned earlier in the book.
But even though this was my least favorite of this series, I was just so happy to be back inside this world again. So I think it’s still worth reading.
The Mead Mishaps series is just so comforting, funny, and easy to read that I could just read them forever.
I hope that Kimberly Lemming never stops writing Mead Mishaps! -
I got an arc in exchange for an honest review
I LOVED THIS ONE! Dante and Cherry are the best. We follow Dante in his search for his long awaited fated mate. FINALLY! Only to find out that his mate was taken by another dragon and she just drugged him!
What a delightful way to start a book.
This whole series has the whole cozy feeling down!!! Well minus the giant lobsters, talking swords, kidnapping and i guess zombies…
Listen it was GOOD so go read it -
4.5 stars. I love this series! I can’t get enough and already can’t wait for the next book to be released! I only dinged this one a little because the ending seemed rushed and I didn’t feel like there was enough closure for me with all of the things that the heroine experienced.
Safe
Virgin heroine
Hero’s sexual past isn’t mentioned at all
Age gap bc she’s 23 and he’s 704 😅
No om/ow drama or scenes
No cheating -
Kimberly has done it again. Ugh this was the perfect book for daddy Dante and included the Lemming staples of obscenely hilarious banter & spice that will have your knees shaking. Not to mention some of the most ~delectable~ romantasy tropes of WHERE IS MY WIFE and fated mates.
Sick of being surrounded by happy couples, Dante leaves Boohail in search of his special someone. His journey begins visiting an old friend where happens upon Cherry. She’d been trapped unironically in a dragons tower for five years with several failed escape attempts.
When Dante arrives on the island, Cherry sees the perfect escape opportunity. In a fit of brilliance, she drugs Dante to make him more pliable to her escapist ideas. Dante having just found his mate was already devising a way to keep his mate with him.
After recovering from the drugging, Dante and Cherry set out on the perfect low stakes adventure.
If you’ve been search of a cozy diverse romantasy, look to further because this series is *chefs kiss* perfection.🫶🏼 -
Dante>>>Fallon. Listen this book had a different vibe from the last ones and I ate it up. The build up was fantastic because I got to connect to both characters. I was rooting for them both from page 1. The twist in who are characters are??? Omg.
Honestly, rent was due for Ms. Kimberly. You did a fantastic job. 🤎 -
Do you ever start reading a series and think “this is perfect! I can’t imagine anything better” and then it gets better?!?
I’m sorry this one is my favorite.
I know I said the last one was my favorite, and the one before that…but no this one is definitely my favorite
Basically perfect. No notes. I’m so happy this exists -
i was feeling depressed lately and this was like a ✨ therapy ✨ to me.
nothing much happened they just traveled, had fun and loved each other. dante is my favorite🐲🥰 i love soft bois with scary looks🔪 i can't say cherry was my fav but i liked her and if she could just said her last name the book could've ended from the start 🙄 so i guess thanks to cherry for that? 🤨
so my fav things;;;;;
1. dante calling cherry my wife from the first moment they met 🤭
2. dante's little blush when he's self-conscious. there's something extremely cute about a 700+ years old dragon blushing 😌
3. "Where. Is. My. Wife?" no explanation needed 😈
4. ALEXIS!!!!!! she stoles the show everytime 💅🏽
only thing that i didn't like;;;;
SHORTEST EPILOGUE OF THE EPILOGUE HISTORY 😡😭 i was expecting them to spend more time together but it ended too soon.
i want her to write moreeeee😭 maybe about yala or usha???alexis??? idc about who i just want to read more🥲
btw her kidnapper's story??? 😔😔😔 -
Where's my dragon mate??? When's my turn????
-
5 ⭐ I think this might be my favourite one in the series!?
I've read all three books in this series now. It happens to me a lot when I love first instalments so much, that when the third, fourth, fifth etc. come out, I inevitably end up disappointed because I've hyped them up so much in my head that there's no way for them to meet my expectations. But -wow- did this book meet my expectation AND THEN SOME!
I knew this book was about Dante going off to find his fated mate. That was it. That was all I knew and I was sold. But oh my f*cking goddess of all things good did the FMC surprise me! I was instantly obsessed. I loooooove her! I loved her style, her vibes, her personally, her back story, her eeeeeverything!
The adventures in this one were less epic and more just travelling and seeing what trouble ensues along the way, but I adored it. There was no quest or evil overlord to overrule, and somehow that made this book better!? Idk if that'll be an unpopular opinion, but I thought it was perfect.
I don't know how, but Kimberly Lemming's done the impossible. She wrote an amazing first book, then made an even better second one AND THEN she said 'here, hold my beer', and smashed the ceiling and blew it -or shall I say 'yeeted' lol- out of the damn park! Am I just gushing about this book at this point? Maybe. But I don't care. I want to read everything this author puts out - I want to devour all of them and not leave a single crumb!!! I'm so genuinely happy I still haven't read the novellas in this series. It means I'm not done finding happiness within its magical world!
I hadn't read the blurb until after finishing this book and I love that there's no spoilers. The cover, the blurb, the plot, the characters... Everything in this book is perfect!!!
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ / 5
🌶️🌶️.5 / 5 -
I loved the first two in this series and was so excited for this one to come out, literally counting down the days (!) but was sadly disappointing.
I love cosy fantasies for their low stakes adventures, which books one and two achieve perfectly but here there were just no stakes at all? The main character was kidnapped and isolated for 5 years and it seems to have no impact on her life beyond being a bit inconvenient. There’s no urgency for her to want to be reunited with her family and she appears to be totally unaffected by her years of imprisonment. The kidnapper’s motivations for abducting her make very little sense, but she seems to find it understandable?
The story itself feels like a series of scenes with no overall plot or end goal which is such a shame as books one and two have fantastic quest/adventure structures. I also didn’t love the spice and there were a couple of moments where, in my opinion, it all felt a little bit pushy and uncomfortable.
Will I read Kimberly’s next book? Yes absolutely, this one was just a bit of a miss for me but book one was one of my fave books of last year! -
I'm obsessed with this series!!! In this book we have Dante finding his mate by struck of fate. And then he gets drugged by her! Honestly, she's so much fun, she's hilarious and just plain amazing.
I loved how in every book each female character is so independent and so driven to become their own person and really just their true selves. They won't let no men or dragon tell them what to do, or who to be. And this dragon in particular is just okay with that and he's willing to follow along on her journey! I love that! I want one!! Where's mine??
I just had an amazing time binge reading this series and I want to do it all over again! -
”Who wouldn’t want to go off on a grand adventure with a bunch of hot heroes also chosen by the goddess?” Me bitches. No, thank you. Biceps are nice, but so is not having my guts eaten by an orc.
Thank you to Quercus Audio for providing the audio arc in exchange for a review!
Turns out being trapped in a tower guarded by a fierce dragon isn’t at all as romantic as the fairytales make out. A grumpy, untalkative dragon, a cook that will force feed if needed, and talking to walls is not fun.
Then a new dragon shows up and ‘rescues her’ (steals her away), but has she just traded one tower for another more lavish one?
Confession: I haven’t read any of Lemming’s previous books in this series, but apparently each one works as a stand-alone and my friend had raved about the first two so I was persuaded to give this one a go.
I can testify it does work with no prior knowledge! Yet, I would recommend reading it in order as there were references as revelations which would have worked a lot better having read the first two!
This was pure bubblegum fun which saw me giggling to myself as I drove to and from work.
We have a drunk and drugged dragon conversing with bananas, lessons on how to interact with humans, top-notch sassy banter….
This takes ‘touch her and you die’ and ‘my wife’ to the next level.
The narrator was perfect for this role. The southern drawl, the pitch, voice, and feeling. Heck, even her sultry voice was amazing and those parts normally make me feel icky.
The castle was like from Beauty and the Beast with magical lighting candles, a huge library, endless corridors…
Imagine a modern gal ending up in a fairytale and offering her very sardonic and sarcastic commentary.
The lack of world-building did bother me, but maybe if I read the first two, I would be better informed. Also, I didn’t go in with high expectations of this - I went in expecting a quick, funny book where a dragon gets drunk and saves a human and they hopefully fall in love along the way.
The first 25% was amazing, but then I felt my attention drifting and it hard to invest as the same things kept being brought up and it felt repetitive.
And the ending was just kinda lacklustre. Definitely expect a book 4.
I am interested in the other two now though as my brain can’t stand plot holes.
Bookstagram -
This was soo FREAKING ADORABLE. There is so much potential for future books and I am extremely invested in this series!
-
This was a lot of fun! I'm giving it 4⭐ despite some major issues I had, so that should tell you just how much fun I had!
Stuff I loved:
♥ The adorably arrogant Dante, mystified by a human female. The scenes with him getting suggestions from Fallon, Felix, and the crew were pure gold! I really love sex/relationship advice scenes - and these had me in stitches.
♥ Drugged Dante is the funniest thing ever: “I’m sorry, Dante. The truth is, I drugged your drink.” “Yes, I’ve gathered that from the talking banana.” 🤣
♥ Alexis the talking sword always steals the scene! If she doesn't get to touch a merman's butt I will riot. And the narrator's voice for her really is perfect.
♥ Fated mates, MMC all-in from the beginning, low angst, no OP drama, 3rd act:
♥ Creativity, humor and banter were on point!
♥ The audiobook narrator, Hazel Addison, once again does a really great job.

Stuff I struggled with:
🠻 The plot. The first book had a Quest which gave the story a structure and clear goals. Here, the direction kept randomly changing:
⚠ Spoiler if you haven't read the first book.
She's been trapped on an island with a silent dragon. Nobody to talk to, not even any books to read. For five freaking years. That's basically solitary confinement, and she should be traumatized, but the whole thing is glossed over.
When she meets Dante, she like "Yay! He can help me escape and fly home!" So she gives him a tea to make him hallucinate. Listen the scene was freaking hilarious, but - huh??? 🧐
Despite her force-drugging him, he still rescues her, because ✨fated mates✨ Naturally, she concludes she can't trust him and declares she's not going to tell him anything about herself or her home. It lasts the entire book. It's really hard for characters to bond if they don't talk about themselves or their past. (This is one reason I dislike amnesia plots - how can you connect with a blank slate?)
Now, her family thinks she's dead - but instead of going home, or contacting them somehow - she asks him to fly her thousands of miles to see unicorns. Because that's the only logical way to determine if she can truly trust her fated-mate dragon. 🤡
Normally I'm not too picky on plot - I care more about characters. But since this plot was driven by the nonsensical whims of the characters - I felt doubly lost.
ˇ ˇ ˇ
🠻 Sexual tension. Compared to the previous books, it felt weak. There were a couple hot scenes, but the actual buildup and chemistry felt off to me. Also, the last scene where he Maaaybe not the best kink to spring on someone who was held captive five years. 🥴
ˇ ˇ ˇ
🠻 Pity Pardon. At the very end, they are

Okay! So I read this in one sitting!! I was hooked from the first page. Miss Kimberly does it again :) this book brought out all the cozy vibes and laughs. I’m guessing this is the last and final book in the series?? I can’t believe it, this series truly did bring me so much joy 🥹

I finished the ARC at 4am (something) this morning! Kimberly Lemming has done it again!
If you've been following the series - you will be completely drawn in and shooketh by Chapter 2. The Quests must go on! There were so many times I laughed out loud while reading this book. But then there were these incredibly empathetic and tender moments that had my heart melting, like...am I about to cry at 2a.m.? The way Kimberly relays outrageous, yet heartfelt moments within the same book is unmatched. I love the tie in to all the characters. I feel like she's writing an Avengers series. Everything just ties together so well.
To see black women laughing and having fun. Women who are bad@sses, yet fragile and appreciate a lil extra help. I feel like Kimberly is allowing other races/cultures to experience black women in a way we've never been seen before, yet we've always been here. I also love the male leads and how they think and also overthink. These incredbily strong leading characters who also have a little insecurity and doubt...until it comes to spicy time. HA! IYKYK
Kimberly is top tier! Her gift is top tier. The world she creates and the rich, vibrant characters she creates are top tier! I want to know them. I want to hang out with them. I too, want to go on an adventure. But alas, I must settle for reading these glorious pages, while eating cheese. lol
I feel so blessed to just bear witness to Kimberly Lemming's magnificence and all the doors that will open because of it.
Keep writing, Kimberly! I love the world you are cultivating for all of us! You are the best...and yet, ALEXIS remains undefeated! -
4.5 stars
Yeah I’ll read anything this woman writes. The tone is just right for me, quirky enough to be fun but never too far to be off-putting. Cherry was fantastic, I loved how determined she was from the moment she got on page. Her curiosity was also so relatable and sweet and added another layer besides the basic “sassy/independent FMC”. And ultimately she tries to take care of Dante as much as he does her, which was just lovely. And her at the end??🥺🥺 so sweet! As for Dante….I never thought a MMC in this series would top Fallon. But Dante is officially my fave. I ADORED him. He’s smitten with Cherry but doesn’t know wtf to do with all the feels, he hoards treasure but wants to spoil Cherry every chance he gets, he’s regal and awkward and sometimes snarky and I just….I’m obsessed.
Their relationship had some really tender moments that just drew me in, particularly both of them finding companionship and love after so much isolation. The sex scenes were also great in this, per usual. This did have a virgin FMC but it wasn’t emphasized or fetishized at all, thank god. The fantasy and world-expanding elements were done well too, fleshed out enough to be worth putting on page but never too dense.
Sometimes the humor didn’t quite hit for me, which tends to be a theme in this series. Again, I vibe with the overall tone but at times, certain lines just don’t land. Also, I’m all for an independent woman but the “throw yourself into danger bc you don’t need a man” kind of independent irks me….and I love my girl Cherry down but she did that a couple times too many for me.
Can’t believe I’m done with this series😭 (so far??? Is there gonna be more???) So glad I gave that first book with a wacky title a chance, these books have been such a delight. Will have an eye on Kimberly bc she’s now an auto-read author for me. Also so happy for her getting picked up by Orbit and all the love her books have gotten. Well deserved imo -
I love this series so much! I'm not a huge fantasy fan, but I love that the series is pretty easy to follow throughout the books. I've been waiting for Dante's story for the longest and this definitely did not disappoint! I loved Cherry's character and I truly appreciated Cinnamon's sister's return and the ending omggg (iykyk 🥲). I loved the diversity of the characters' backstories, dialogue, and lives. The smut was a bit there but it still did it's mf thing 😌. Can't wait to see what's next for Lemming and what she has to offer!

3.5 stars.
I liked this. But not as much as the other books. It felt too rushed throughout and confusing for the last third. I love both Cherry and Dante but there was just something missing. -
Crying because now I have to wait for the other book
As I predicted, Dante and Cherry were my favourite couple. Gosh, I loved the big lug and his spitfire wife. Cherry was dating, not fearless, but pushed on DESPITE her fears and that made me love her even more. Dante was such a lovable, not good with humans little dragon yandere. I loved their interactions. ALL of them. Listen, Kimberley knows how to write a spicy scene - OK! This is the third book on the series and the scenes still feel fresh and no two are the same!
I felt bad for Gideon and knew I would be from the beginning. What he did was still wrong though. Will we get his story? Hmm, hopeful for that unfolding. The trio’s interactions made for some funny page reads. Fallon, Felix and Dante need a side story showing them getting into some shenanigans because I love their chemistry together. All completely clueless about anything other than their mates.
How can I forget the magical sword. Lol. I love her sadistic self. She lights up the page whenever she’s in the scene.
Loved this instalment and anxiously awaiting Usha and Ambrose or Sunbeam and Balabash. Whichever one comes first. -
I really liked this one! -1⭐️ as some scenes were quite pushy and the consent felt a little dubious.
