In "The Alpha One", the most technologically advanced military spaceship in the Binary Star System has just completed its commissioning tests when its commander is recalled. In "Secrets of the Universe", a Texas A&M chemical engineering graduate is given a behind-the-scenes cosmic tour and discovers how the universe really operates. Along the way he finds answers to some of life's biggest questions.

"In the Shadow of the Obelisk" is a compilation of six short stories in which life is put under a microscope by a highly eccentric cast of characters. The stories are "The Hunter", "The Mission of the Merps", "The Genius", "The Creative Engineer", "When do you Plan to Die, Sir?", and "The Rabbit that Saved the Universe".

"Showdowns With Death" links together and continues the storylines from the first three parts of the novel. A lone Texas A&M engineer is called upon to stop an alien invasion of Earth. It's showdown time in Texas with the fate of humanity at stake.
