Ken Liu's "The Man Who Ended History" has made me feel ill. Like human extinction would be a good thing. I don't feel hopeful. I don't feel like we can avoid future horrors by being aware of past ones, because people shouldn't have to be told that dissecting people when they're awake is wrong, and if they do have to be told, then they aren't people (although Liu argues that they are). I don't think this confronting story has made me a better person or more able to sympethise and forgive. I kind of wish I hadn't read it, even though I can understand why he wrote it and I can't deny that it is powerful.

Ken Liu's "The Man Who Ended History: A Documentary" is a must-read. Others were ho-hum.
