Love-Powered Parenting is written out of a love for parenting and a deep desire to encourage parents. Yes, there are experiences in parenting that can cause deep hurt. Yes, there are realities in parenting that certainly will cause you to feel inept. Yet at the core of it all there is a deep gratefulness for the gift that God gives in the opportunity to love a child. This book is a biblical guide to parenting. And by "biblical guide" we mean these pages are intended to take you on a journey through what the truth of God's Word has to say about parenting. The main goal is not to uncover psychological truths about your child--there are many good resources on psychological theory; nor does it include practical tips for everyday circumstances such as how to get your kids to eat their green beans. Here, we will explore the simple and profound principles of God's Word to distinguish psychological truth from error, educational reality from untested theory, and we'll be looking at these tips within the broader context of God's principles for parenting.

This is a great daily devotion for parents. The principles shared are straight forward and important reminders (place the highest value on relationships, love as Jesus loves you, communicate from the heart, etc), as I find it so easy to get bogged down in the day to day routine and lose focus. Encouraging insights and verses are shared within each daily reading (over 30 day period).

Like most books on parenting, one takes what applies to ones situation and then leave the rest where it lies. This is a good fundamental book on Christian parenting but by the end of the book the author left me feeling tired from all the instructions. Parenting is a big topic but I liked what the author's wife said at the end of one chapter. To paraphrase, help your children discover the wonder of walking in relationship with Jesus. Then again, I read this book just after reading some of Danny Silk's stuff and he has a completely different approach making this book feel a bit old-school. The one thing I appreciated about this book is the chapter on the words we use to speak with our children.

I think they talked to much about there life. I read the book to learn not to listen about their life. But it was a really good book and helped with parenting and so much more.

This book is a great read and text on "Love". I am going to read it for the third time. It seems that everytime I read it I start realizing the purpose of having the gift of parenting and it is always something different.
