The Paternity Promise (Dalton Twins, #2) Reviews

What does this book tell me?
The hero knows not what condoms are.
He had sex with the heroines cousin 3 times- got her pregnant.
Been with the heroine for less than a month- got her pregnant.
Do we see a pattern here, hmmmmmmmmmmm?

Other than that, standard baby-on-the-threshold story. There are better ones out there.

Some of the dialogue was just so very bad. Case in point:
"Stop calling me that you dog turd. You and I are in no way related, thank God."

With the context it is even worse.

I should have reread one of my favorites instead of buying this one.

    Final thoughts
I liked this, I was a bit unsure when I saw that she leaves the baby on the doorstep but you don't read it. The story starts at him finding out Grace isn't just a nanny and is related to the baby, so I think her character isn't really smeared. I did like Grace I thought she had a lot going for her and I found their romance was sweet.

Una historia muy linda, cortita, concisa y llena de romance que parece imposible pero es posible.

This one was just okay for me. I think I'd had higher expectations given the relationship set up between Blake and Grace in the first story. Once Alex and Julie go on their honeymoon, Blake confronts Grace with his newfound knowledge that she is actually the cousin of Molly's mother and that he is in fact the father (I honestly am a bit more disturbed that between the two of them, two guys had so many lovers in the time frame of Molly's conception that they couldn't figure out who the mother was. Yikes!) So Blake feels a bit put out by Grace's lies and the fact that he won't trust her with her cousin's (and her) secrets. So he insists that if she wants to continue to be a part of Molly's life that she'll marry him. On their honeymoon, they realize they can really make the marriage work and he promises to accept that she won't share her secrets. He promises, but goes around her to find out on his own. IMHO she forgives way too easily. There's also an actual villain who plays a part in the final confrontation, which ups the suspense of the story a bit.

Blake was okay, but his personality at times felt cold and calculating, especially in his approach to marriage with Grace. I get that he was just getting around to understanding his feelings, but he basically blackmailed her into it. Beyond that and afterwards he was really accepting and patient with her. Maybe beginning to realize he had ulterior motives for getting her to marry him. Grace was a bit too much doormat for my liking. She way too easily forgives Blake for blackmailing her into marriage, insisting on trust that he has no right to insist on and then betraying her trust in his macho, "I-know-better-and-won't-be-protecte" attitude. There was also the whole honeymoon thing, which was quite romantic really, but overly descriptive and all the while I wondered, how can these two just pick up and leave little infant Molly for 2 weeks without even calling? I mean, she married him to be a part of Molly's life and she didn't even ask to see her before they left. I liked the suspense plot. Without it, this story would have been pretty damn boring.

Loved the book. It was a follow on to The Paternity Proposition and confirms that Blake is Molly's father. Blake is stunned, but thrilled to find out he is Molly's father. Especially since he thought that the woman who was her mother had died well before Molly was born. When he found out Grace's part in the deception, he was furious. All Grace had wanted was to find out which man was Molly's father and make sure that Molly would be safe and loved. Once that was assured, she left them and went home. Blake showed up a short time later and proposed a marriage to give Molly the family she deserved. Grace was already half in love with him, and went along with the marriage to be close to Molly. Blake knew that Grace was still keeping secrets, but wanted her in his life anyway. I loved seeing them spend time together on their honeymoon in France, and watch them get to know each other. I could see Blake falling under Grace's spell, and Grace fall the rest of the way in love. When they returned to Oklahoma City, and Grace's attempts to protect her cousin Hope from her abusive husband came to light, both of them had to decide what they were willing to put into their marriage. When Blake nearly lost Grace, he finally realized just how much he cared.

At first I didn't want to read this book. I figured it would just be another baby on the doorstep read-which can sometimes be a drag-but I loved it. I loved that the book began with Grace already as the nanny and not any boring character or party description.

After Blake discovered lies his nanny omitted, he is determined to keep her where he can see her day and night. When the DNA test confirmed he is Molly's father, it is time for4 Grace to leave but he finds himself missing her as much as Molly is. He hunts her down and she returns as his wife(for Molly's sake). I loved how they tried to make their marriage real and didn't try to deny their feelings towards each other. The ending had a bit of suspense but concluded with a happy ending.

My favorite line of this book- "With this ring..."
The soft words hit with a jolt, ricocheting around
in Blake's chest as she worked the ring over his knuckle...
    "I thee Wed"

This was one of my favorite Harlequin books I have read. I like how the author didn't drag out the who the father was for the baby Molly. And how she mentioned that the relationship between Blake and Grace was developing during the time she was working as a nanny. I enjoyed that even though they jumped into marriage for Molly's sake that they got to know each other before they got a lot closer. The touch of suspense at the end was a nice touch and I looked forward to see how it was resolved and the ending was really cute.

I loved Grace and Blake's story. She brought her cousins baby to the Dalton's to give it to the father and make sure it was loved. She only planned to stay until the paternity was revealed. But her secret was discovered and she had to leave. Two weeks later, he comes proposing a marriage for the baby which she agrees upon. She has been hiding from her cousins abusive husband because she fears he will harm the Dalton's and the baby. The book culminates in a fast and intense ending. I loved the ending and wished there were more books in the series.

I started to type this review, ready to point out the negatives in this novel, because, of course, it is one of those Harlequin monthly releases...But, I couldn't think of a single negative and I realized that I really did love this book. The progression of the romance was great. I really loved both Grace and Blake. The suspense was also well done. And Delilah managed to keep her interference to a minimum! This was a delightful, fast read that I thoroughly enjoyed.

My kind of quick read. H/h are strong-willed. Plot has some life-threatening danger. and there's a hard-nosed matriarch pulling some strings.

My only regret reading this book is not reading the prequel first. I will rectify that soon.

Great book if your looking to wasted your time. The author had the right story in mind but spent so much time describing things over and over again i lost interest a number of times. If that was not enough she talked about thing in such great length that had no real relevance to the story.

  • Blzd

I loved this book. I was frustrated with Grace sometimes but that's how the story needed to go. Blake was perfect. The threats and twists were exciting too. Happy ending for all even for Delilah, yehey!
