Wow . . .
Did I say Wow . . .?
Sort of mind-blowing. Couldn't put it down and then I scrambled to my laptop to see if Jordyn had made this stuff up—and actually this medical suspense thriller is based in real science.
I was creeped out and alternately fascinated with the villain.
Great novel, but WARNING—
You may not want to read this in the dark. -
A rollercoaster of a story. Jordyn Redwood’s Proof has everything you could want in a thriller—believable characters, a villain who makes your skin crawl, a touch of humor, and a twisting plot—all bound by fascinating medical and scientific details. What a fabulous debut!
-
This book completely captivated me!
Oh. My. Goodness, where do I start. The plot is unlike anything I've ever read before, I loved that it was a combination medical thriller and crime novel, and the medical and DNA facts absolutely fascinated me! The characters were all so like able, well except for the villain who was thoroughly hate able! I really liked Lilly, Kadin, Nathan, and Dana. Jason and Nathan were both really cool guys but Kadin, oh my gosh! Here is a fictional man that is absolutely worthy of my fangirling, he's an amazing doctor, a man of amazing faith, a natural protector and caretaker, and just generally a one in a million man of incredible amazing ness!!! :) And in case you were wondering, yes Dr. Kadin Daughtry is on my list of favorite heroes! I was surprised by so many things in this book! I really hated to put Proof down at all, there were so many times when I couldn't begin to imagine how the author would tie all the strings together, I even found myself thinking about this book in my dreams (After I had to put it down because I was so tired that I couldn't see straight! :-) But she brought it all together beautifully, and that ending was so awesome!
I will also say that I was a bit nervous about how the issue of rape would be approached, I needn't have worried! I was amazed and very impressed at just how clean the author kept the story! Needless to say I absolutely loved everything about this book! I highly recommend it, and I cannot wait to get my hands on the next two books in the series! :-D
Jordyn Redwood, you have a new fan in me! -
I just found this book at Sam's Club and it sounded good, so I bought it and I sure am glad I did. The first paragraph grabs the reader and demands that they continue. By the end of chapter 2 it was ER meets Criminal Minds. This book was one big huge roller coaster ride. You're scared and want to get off but you're enjoying the ride too much to stop. Wow is not good enough to describe this book.
The author is a medical professional and knows what she's talking about. I loved the chimera angle and she has done her research quite well. There are twists and turns throughout and I enjoyed every moment. I called my local Lifeway store and had them order the second in the series for me. I will have the great pleasure of reading two of this author's books without having to wait a year for the next! Then...October will see the release of the third in the series. I am one blessed reader.
I love the spiritual aspect of the story also. It was wonderful without being too preachy and I'm a devout believer, too. Kudos to Jordyn Redwood. I read TONS of books and rarely have I seen a first novel this good. Outstanding book! Don't miss it. -
Basically, this book is like reading an episode of Law & Order. Or Without A Trace, except chronologically from the missing person's point of view. But here's an original twist: we know who the villain is only a third of the way through the book. From there, the stakes just keep rising, and the crime investigation is enriched by some fascinating medical details.
For me, the only things missing from this novel are deep point of view and deeper characterization. When the point of view stays on the surface, I can't engage on an emotional/character level, only an intellectual/plot level. That said, this is one of the most interesting, unexpected plots I've read from Christian fiction in ... practically ever. It never lets up, pretty much from page one. Kept me curious, and I will definitely read Ms. Redwood's next book. If she deepens point of view in subsequent books, I'll be even happier.
Recommended if: You enjoy plot-driven fiction, un-sanitized Christian fiction, crime and/or medical suspense. -
Wow! This book is so intense!! Don't expect to sleep much once you pick it up bc the plot is just nonstop, it doesn't let up for a minute. Twists and turns that I never saw coming. I had no idea how everything was going to come together until the last moment. And I learned a little bit of medical trivia in the process as well. Always fun. :) The author did a great job of making me really care about the characters very quickly, pretty much all of them, I couldn't pick a favorite. I was up too late reading this one and when I wasn't reading I was still thinking about it in the back of my mind trying to figure out all the intertwining pieces. I'd say there were a couple spots that maybe could have been ironed out, places where dialogue could seem too stilted and technical for casual conversation or thoughts, but then again we're dealing with medical and law enforcement personnel and it wasn't overwhelming so it still seemed believable to me. I'm very impressed that this is the author's first book. And I'm glad it's a trilogy bc I'm hoping to see more of these characters in the future. I'll definitely be reading the rest.

Proof was a really good book. When I got about half way through, I was thinking, "Okay, this is a pretty good story. Good writing and characters. I'll probably end up giving it 4 stars."
Boy! Have I learned not to judge too soon! It seems after I thought that...that the book just took off! By the time I read the last page, I was hanging on to every word, breathless to see how any of this could come out well for Lilly.
Excellent, excellent job, Jordyn Redwood!! I LOVED the whole medical side of things. I'll admit--the medieval mysteries I've read...I usually find kinda boring--at least the 'medical' side of it. But in Proof, Redwood drew me into the complex dealings of DNA and the like. I don't want to give ANYTHING away, so won't say much else...but, wow, was that genus or WHAT!! Kudos to Redwood for writing a stellar medical suspense!!
Full review to come. -
I dare you to just read the first paragraph and stop!
I tried and didn't make it. Wow, oh wow. Jordyn Redwood can WRITE. From the very first sentence until the last, I was hooked. This book was like an IV fully open, running and running.
I'm a big fan of suspense and I love medical mysteries. It had them both, but a sweet little romance sprinkled on top.
Awesome book, I'll be looking for more of Redwood's books and next time I won't make the mistake of starting it late at night. Staying up all night to read the whole thing could be hazardous to your health. :) -
4. 3 Stars
Didn't Like:
A unbeliever jokes about someone having fun with a woman
2 swear words
1 insuaition of a swear word
I think some more Christianity could and should be displayed in the book. The main character is a unbeliever until the end of the book. The main character gets engaged to an unbeliever.
A believer consumed alcohol and has beer in her home.
I would recommend this to 15+. It is a very intense book. Highly emotional. I enjoyed the book. My first medical book ever and I was very impressed.
The villain, oh, the villian! Such a low-down disgusting creep. Hate to admit, but he was mighty clever. UGH! I HATED HIM! I am glad the author didn't make you pity him because of so and so a reason. She made him a absolute monster, and rightly so.
I will be reading Redwood's next book. Hopefully some more Christianity will be displayed in it. -
An excellent read, especially if you love medical mysteries with rare physical phenomenons as much as I do. This is the first of the Bloodlines trilogy by Jordyn Redwood, and I'm pretty sure if you read one you will grab the others, too. I give this one a solid five thumbs up.
Lilly Reeves is an emergency room physician on duty when a pregnant young woman involved in a traffic "accident" is wheeled through the door. The cops follow, wanting to talk to the unconscious woman because it appears a truck deliberately rammed her. The baby the woman carries is the product of an encounter with a serial rapist, and she is a key witness if they ever arrest a suspect.
It's difficult to find this suspect, despite the fact that he's left semen filled with DNA behind in all his victims. Apparently the perpetrator is in the medical profession or at least somehow has access to syringes filled with a substance, ketamine, that knocks out his prey. Other clues are the location of the attacks, apparently centering on the hospital where Lilly works; that all of the victims have their keys missing for a number of hours before the attacks; and that the victims describe a man with blue and brown eyes--one of each--and a horrific monster tattooed on his chest. He has one other quirk--when his victims become pregnant, he makes sure the child does not live.
Then it's Lilly's turn. Her keys come up missing, and her black belt in karate and dead-eye shooting expertise do her no good once he injects her with ketamine.
Lilly accuses another physician, but it backfires when the DNA appears to prove him innocent. Suddenly, it's Lilly who is on the run. -
What a read! Chalked full of great clean suspense, anger, mystery, up and down thriller I have had the awesome pleasure to read.
This was author Jordyn Redwoods first book and she has captured me from the first to the end and has me foaming at the mouth for more. Her next book, the next in the series, Poison: A Novel (Bloodline Trilogy, #2) comes out in February 2013. And I will be per-ordering it for sure.
Dr. Lilly Reeves, an ER physician was changed by horrible actions of another. She is the fifth victim. She is a character that makes you want to root for her from the beginning to the end. But when things look like that are something else other than what she knows to be the truth, well how can you not want to scream and yell! And Dr. Lilly Reeves is not going to stop till she proves the truth!
How can evidence change? How can you go from being guilty to being cleared by scientific evidence? PROOF takes you all over the place and back. From like I said yelling at the book, the author, the evidence, to cheering for Dr. Lilly and praying that she can get the PROOF!!!
As a new author, Jordyn Redwood is amazing! I will continue to watch for her in the future and she will be on my TBR list for each new book. An Awesome, Clean, Must Read Book!
So due to the above I am giving this book a Breath of Life Rating of:
Five Clock Rating!!!
Disclosure: I received this book in exchange for my review. The opinions are mine. And your opinion may differ. -
“Proof” is nothing short of an adrenaline ride from beginning to end. From that first trauma ER scene in the opening chapter, I was hooked. Lilly Reeves is a competent doctor, able to tackle whatever barrels through her ER doors, but she never expected to lose the strength she placed in her job, in her security, when it’s all stripped away from her.
The crimes are grisly ones. The victims are suffering. The villain seemingly uncatchable, even when it would seem he’s in the cop’s grasp.
I was in awe of the intricacies that went into plotting these crimes. The novel certainly isn’t for the faint of heart, but while Lilly might come across as unlikeable to some readers, I found her a hurting soul in need of healing.
I couldn’t imagine being traumatized as Lilly was and then not having faith on top of that? I’m not sure how she made it through, but she did and none of it on her own power. When I finally made it to the happily ever after, I was so pleased to see the changes made in her “life” on the pages of the novel.
“Proof” is definitely what I’d consider an excellent debut novel. It has adrenaline thrills and shattering lows and above all, the promising glimmer of hope that the best is yet to come.
This review is my honest opinion. Thanks to the publishers through CFBA for my copy to review.

I LOVED this book. It's one of those thrillers that keeps you turning pages until way too late at night, yet it's also clean, wholesome and fun. Jordyn Redwood did an amazing job of creating likable characters and of keeping the plot's twists and turns readable and understandable. I can't wait for her next book!
-
This very well-researched medical suspense novel kept me guessing till the very end. It was fascinating to learn about the DNA aspects of the crimes. Lilly was a very tough and believable main character. Can't wait to read the next in this series!
-
Terrific suspense! Picked it up and kept reading till I hit the last page.

Proof is one of those must-reads. Not only is it full of suspense, but the realistic tidbits from Ms. Redwood's medical experience deepen the flavor of intrigue. Love this book!
-
Great fast paced read. Thank you for the loaner Joan!
-
I loved this book from this day I still think about this book. My favorite character was not only Lily but also Nathan. The way this author put you on your toes was amazing. A very well written book.
-
Author, Jordyn Redwood writes from the standpoint and first-hand knowledge of a long-time experienced emergency room nurse. In her first novel, Proof, she opens with a fast paced scene in the ER with Dr. Lilly Reeves handling a recent rape case. She confronts the on hand detective in the ER about the "serial" rapist at large. Little did Dr. Reeves know that she would be the next victim.
The character of Dr. Reeves is strong as is typical of a woman doctor. She is strong in the medical profession and in her ability to diagnose and investigate medically the cases brought to her. She is not so strong emotionally because she is has a complex history which creates in her a complex individual.
Dr. Lilly realizes that she know facts that will help identify the assailant and an accusation is made. DNA Tests are run but the accused is freed because the results say he is not the one. However, she knows identifying characteristics that make her realize that something is askew about the test results. The medical twists and turns of this maze will confound even the experts.
She has friends in the ER with whom she works that are supportive and caring. They are also the ones who believe her - up to a point - as she tries to find proof of her assailant before he finds and eliminates her. As the story unfolds and her life seems to completely unravel, we find a soft romance beginning to bloom and it is really a treat to see this need filled in her life.
This is a fast paced story that is replete with medical terminology that will sit well with those "in the know" an will be a strong selling point for authenticity for this the first in Jordyn Redwood's Bloodline Triology.
This book would be categorized as a medical/criminal thriller. It is indeed that. I look forward to the next book from Jordyn Redwood in the Bloodline Triology. It is sure to be another block buster.

I just finished reading Proof, the first in the Bloodline Trilogy, by Jordyn Redwood. I have been wanting to read it for months but due to work deadlines and just overall busyness of life, hadn’t had a chance to start it until last week. Was it ever worth the wait! I read it cover to cover in one week exactly, and would have read it quicker had life not gotten in the way.
This book has it all. Not only was I drawn to the characters, but I was drawn to the storyline. I was totally immersed in what was happening. Ms. Redwood writes with such accuracy that you forget you’re reading a book and instead feel like you’re part of the drama. There were so many surprises throughout the book, I couldn’t wait to turn the next page.
Ms. Redwood delivers not only a story with solid characters that are relatable, but a terrific suspense novel. I honestly couldn’t figure out who committed the crime, and then once it was discovered, how they were going to convict. This book has it all - romance, medical drama, police drama, and courtroom suspense. Ms. Redwood is incredibly talented to interweave all these elements together so seamlessly, in such a way that I couldn’t wait to turn the next page. I read her book much like I watch a great crime or courtroom drama on TV. My pulse rate was up and I wanted to fast forward the commercials (for a book that would equal the interruptions of real life) so I could find out how the good guys were going to win.
If all of the above wasn’t enough to keep me reading, Ms. Redwood delivered from a spiritual perspective as well. Despite being on different levels in their spiritual journey, the main characters and secondary characters interconnected so well. Isn’t that the way it is in real life? We have some friends who are equal to us in our spiritual journey, and then others who are further ahead and others who choose not to even walk the same path as us. God calls us to get along with each other and to above all, let His light shine through our lives so that those who haven’t made a decision can see Him brighter in our lives than they see us. She wrote believable characters, representing each area of their growth, without having to go to extremes for me to get the mental picture.
Ms. Redwood’s talent again was evident in how she was able to tie the spiritual theme of Christ’s salvation for our sins so subtly into the story, yet so powerfully, that when I finished reading, all I could say was “Wow - how did she do that?”
This book is a must read for people who love a suspense-driven novel with a hint of romance, all while subtly being reminded of Christ’s love for us. It was written in such a real-life way that I could imagine it happening to me (which is probably why I slept with one eye open last night after reading the final chapters). I can’t wait to read the next book in the series, Poison, which is coming out in 2013, which equals to “not soon enough” as I would like to read it tomorrow. I’m excited to discover if we get to follow the journey of some of the characters from Proof, or if we’re introduced to a whole new set of friends. Either way, I can hardly wait.
I am definitely a fan of Jordyn Redwood and have already started telling my friends and family about this great book. I’m pretty confident that you’ll join me after you read Proof for yourself! -
Warning: If you are about to read this book, late at night, loss of sleep is almost guaranteed. You will NOT want to put this one down until you finish, but trust me, it's well worth it! If you love a great suspense thriller, then you will want to pick up Proof by Jordyn Redwood, the first book in the Bloodline Trilogy. This one is definitely geared to hook you from the first page and keep you turning pages as fast as you can because it's that good!
Emergency Room doctor, Lilly Reeves has seemed to misplace her keys and since she can't head home without them. Until she does, her boss Dr. Anderson, suggests she take the next trauma case slated to arrive. Little does Lilly know how different her life will be connected with the victim, Torrence Campbell. She's been involved in a car accident and upon arriving in the ER, Lilly learns that the victim is pregnant. Not only that, she learns that this may have not been an accident after all and that someone intentionally meant to cause this. While she fights to save Torrence's life, she pages the OB on call and learns that Kadin is the attending. He retrieves the baby so they can concentrate on saving the mother.
When Detective Nathan Long arrives at the ER, he immediately wants to talk to Torrence, but she is completely unresponsive and Lilly isn't sure she will make it. She learns that besides being the target of intended car accident, she is also the only witness in her rape case. She can identify her attacker and it seems that his case is about to go unsolved unless they can save Torrence's life.
Aside from waiting on the results of what Lilly believes is brain swelling, she has to wait to see if Torrence will regain consciousnesses but it doesn't look like it. Only time will tell. So as she heads home, she finds her keys sitting on her bag as if someone just set them there. Lilly will soon learn just how this insignificant event is about to change her life forever.
In the Bloodline Trilogy, Proof by Jordyn Redwood is a physiological thriller that will literally keep you on the edge of your seat as you work with Detective Nathan Long to figure out who this serial rapist is and if they can stop him before he claims his next victim. Will Lilly survive or does she possess something that the killer wants to keep hidden and will stop at nothing until she is dead? This novel combines some of the best elements in Christian fiction, spiritual warfare along with roller-coaster suspense for a faith filled book that will definitely leave you wanting more.
I received this book compliments of Kregel Publications and Christian Fiction Blog Alliance for my honest review and have this one on my top MUST READ list to make sure I stay on top of each the sequels to see how this will all end up! Jordyn Redwood is the next and coming author that you will want to remember after reading this debut novel! She will be the one to watch! I rate this one a 5 out of 5 stars because for me, if I can't put the book down to finish anything in my life at the current moment, then that's a keeper for me. -
What if DNA evidence failed to back up every witness's testimony and law enforcement's intuition? Is DNA evidence the end-all it is often viewed as? That's the scientific topic tackled in this medical suspense debut release by real-life medical professional
Jordyn Redwood. This isn't a genre I often read, but this author came highly recommended and so I took the chance to read it when it came my way.
ER physician Lilly Reeves is sure of herself and her busy life, until the night she becomes the victim of a serial rapist. The author handles this subject in a tasteful manner, and presents the emotional fall-out realistically. Each of the women claim their attacker had the same startling physical characteristics and a unique tattoo. Lilly is hanging onto her sanity by a thin thread when she is able to visually identify the man, but his DNA is not a match for any of the crime scenes. Sure that there's a way to prove his guilt, Lilly takes the investigation into her own hands and begins following a trail that will bring her unlikely allies in her quest for justice.
Increasingly frustrated by the dead ends of his investigation, detective Nathan Long is eaten up with worry over the serial rapist case. Things are not adding up. When DNA evidence frees the man to whom all other clues point, Nathan is certain he is still the one behind the attacks. Things get a little more complicated when the DNA does match a man with a prior rape conviction in another state. Could he be the perpetrator? The original suspect has disappeared, and so has Dr. Reeves. There are several lives at stake, and a ticking clock, as the story races to its finish.
There were several compelling aspects to this novel. There was certainly lots of medical information, but I never felt like it was overwhelming. The police investigation had an interesting angle by making the partnering detectives differ so strongly on their belief of the identity of the attacker. I thought the faith side of the story was handled well. It was the romance that had me shaking my head. There were two men who were drawn to Lilly, but only one for whom she reached out when she had a need, even at very crucial times. For their part, one of the men seemed to actively avoid being around her, so his romantic interest didn't ring true. It seemed a rather lopsided love triangle, although reader intuition told you she'd end up picking the less likely guy anyway. But in the end there were no guarantees that any of them would survive, as the deadly intent of the criminal came more and more in focus.
I would recommend this book to a specific set of people. Young or sensitive readers would be encouraged to read elsewhere. For myself, I was intrigued and will definitely be reading more from this author in the future.

Jordyn Redwood in her new book, “Proof” Book One in the Bloodline Trilogy series published by Kregel Publications brings us into the life of Dr. Lilly Reeves.
From the back cover: After DNA evidence clears a suspected serial rapist of grisly crimes, ER physician Dr. Lilly Reeves takes matters into her own hands. Police detectives think she’s a danger to the case, and her colleges worry her obsession will be detrimental to her health. But Lilly can’t stop, even if it means digging into a dark mystery that science cannot comprehend. Alone and on the run, Lilly wonders: is there any proof that will bring a monster to justice?
Acclaimed as “a rollercoaster of a story,” Proof debuts the twists and turns that make the Bloodline Trilogy an undeniable adventure for all fiction fans.
If you ever read anything from the late Michael Crichton then you know you was famous for starting with an area that was believed to be foolproof and then showing that something went horrible wrong. That premise is exactly what Jordyn Redwood brings out in “Proof”. We see so many police shows where they rely so heavily on DNA evidence to bring the suspect to justice. And it always works. Not so in “Proof”. Dr. Lilly Reeves has the DNA evidence and they bring the suspect to trial and the evidence gets him off because it doesn’t match. Something has gone horribly wrong and Dr. Reeves must figure out what it is before this serial rapist tries again.
I think Jordyn Redwood is an extremely talented writer who really knows how to tell a story that will grab you and keep you flipping pages until you find out who did it. Not only does Dr. Reeves go down blind alleys in her efforts to prove who the rapist is she also becomes a target putting her life in deadly danger. “Proof” is a very exciting book that will keep you engrossed in the characters as Ms. Redwood puts them through their paces. This is a wonderful series and I am glad I discovered Jordyn Redwood. I am so looking forward to the next book in this series

"Proof" the first in Jordyn Redwood's Bloodline Trilogy is a chilling and enthralling medical and crime thriller that has your heart racing as the tension mounts. The story opens when a brutalized rape victim is rushed to Sage Medical Centre where Dr. Lily Reeves struggles to save her life and that of her unborn child. What she doesn't know is that she may well be the next victim on the list of a crazed serial killer who doesn't fear being caught. Woven into a story laced with mystery, fear, injustice, cruelty and bloodshed are stronger elements of friendship, redemption, self-sacrifice, love and faith.
With her medical background Jordyn Redwood is able to write a plot that's realistic and filled with medical and scientific detail. Her characters are believable and have a complexity in their personalities that grips the reader from the first page to the last; their weaknesses and strengths emotionally riveting. Dr. Lily Reeves haunted by the emotional insecurity of her childhood is calm and efficient in her job, but struggles with relationships. Dr. Kadin Daughtry is a well-respected, honourable and compassionate OB doctor, a man whose faith is tested. Detective Nathan Long, a former FBI agent is a man with a bucket list of his past failures; a dedicated, shrewd and diligent investigator who's challenged to solve a mysterious case and in jeopardy of losing his heart in the process. Even the minor characters are notable; Dr. Dana Morrell, Lily's trusted, self-sacrificing and faithful friend; Drew Stipman, a kind, considerate man mistrusted and unjustly incarcerated; Ellie, Kadin's sister, a woman with a big heart who struggles to have a child and Meryl Stipman, arrogant and callous in her misuse of wealth and power. But, it's the villain and his evil that chills the heart, makes your hair stand on end, and elicits no sympathy, only anger and disgust.
This is a story with twists and turns that keeps the reader captivated. I won one of Jordyn Redwood's books from Goodreads Giveaways and was so fascinated by her earthy writing style and the intensity of the plot that I had to read more. This is an exciting novel and I look forward to reading the next book in the series. -
A great debut novel from author, Jordyn Redwood! I was first introduced to Jordyn Redwood through her second novel in the Bloodline Trilogy, POISON. It was so captivating, I knew I wanted to go back and read PROOF. I was not disappointed.
Dr. Lilly Reeves, an ER doctor, loses a rape victim in her ER to suicide then ends up becoming a victim herself. Life as she knows it turns upside down when she discovers who her attacker is but DNA evidence clears him of the crime. Not understanding how it is science is not backing up what she knows to be true, she sets out to prove the man is not only her attacker, but a serial rapist. She starts out as the hunter, but soon becomes the hunted. When people she’s questioned and those close to her befall tragic accidents, she knows her attacker is a cold-blooded killer that will not stop until she is silenced. Everyone has written her off as unstable and dangerous. That is, all but Detective Nathan Long.
Detective Long’s first encounter with Dr. Lilly Reeves is anything but pleasant. He invades her ER, wanting information about a patient and immediately gets on Lilly’s bad side. When it’s clear to Lilly a serial rapist is on the loose, she accuses Nathan from withholding information from the public. When Lilly becomes one of the rapist’s victims, Nathan becomes her strongest advocate. The only problem is, she continues to blame a suspect that has already been cleared by DNA evidence. But somehow, even though the evidence is stacked against Lilly, Nathan feels she is right. But proving it is going to be more than difficult, it’s going to be deadly.
There is only so much I can write without spoiling the many layers that unfold. Just trust me when I say, PROOF is a mind-bending, fast-paced, thriller. The romance is a little bit light, but fitting to the plot. I have found a new, favorite author. -
I like medical thrillers and this was an interesting one because of the DNA issue. As stated in other reviews, Lily is raped and when she accuses the person of the crime, his DNA does not match. I did not know how the author was going to solve that problem but once it was revealed, it was like "oh, yeah..."---it was something I had learned about in nursing school and I learned even more in this story. The author writes her best when she's describing medical/biological information. You learn who the rapist is about halfway through the book and the race is on to figure out how to catch him. There are some chapters that end in cliffhangers and the action really speeds up in the last half of the book. I thought the romance between Lilly and Nathan was not quite developed. At first, it looked like Kadin was pursuing Lilly and I thought, "oh no, not a love triangle please" but it was clear that Lilly wasn't interested in him. Yet I wasn't sure why Lilly and Nathan were attracted to each other, a deeper look at their romance would have been nice. Spiritually, Lilly is not really a believer and of course, struggles greatly after the rape. There was one part where a "visitor" named Gabe comes to see her in the ER during her downward spiral. He said he's a messenger. I wasn't sure if he was supposed to be an angel but that part just pulled me out of the story, it didn't seem to fit but that's just my opinion. No one else seemed to be bothered by it. Overall, I thought this book kept my interest and opened my eyes to a new author. It looks like the second book involves people from a case that Nathan had as an FBI hostage negotiator so I'm looking forward to the continuity. Very good debut!

Dr. Lilly Reeves has put her troubled childhood behind her, and now lives a successful, largley content life as an ER physician. However, after she becomes victim to a brutal crime, she plumets into darkness, struggling to make her way through each day. When DNA evidence clears the suspect of his crimes, Lilly decides to find the proof she needs to put the perpetrator away forever. As she forays into a "mystery that science cannot comprehend", she finds herself on the run from evil, with her very life at stake.
Proof explodes into action from the first scene, full of dark suspense that made me regret reading the novel late at night! I know a writer has thoroughly succeed at drawing me into a story when every creak in the dark makes me jumpy and convinces me someone has broken into my house. Jordyn Redwood writes as one who has far more experience under her belt, with taut scenes, crisp dialogue, and just the right of characterized balanced with the suspense. Her characters are full of life, and I enjoyed getting to know Lilly and watch her relationship with Nathan unfold. I am so grateful that I don't have to wait long until I get to dive into book 2 in the Bloodline Trilogy, because I have become a new fan of Jordyn Redwood! Readers who haven't yet tried out this relatively new author should really plan on picking up a book by Jordyn Redwood. They will be thoroughly entertained and left longing for more! I highly recommend this book and award it 4.5 out of 5 stars.

A serial murderer/rapist is on the loose — a heinous crime spree that's seemingly touching the lives of the entire staff at Sage Medical Center as well as a growing number of innocent victims throughout the Denver area. Time is of the essence, as he'll surely strike again — soon. So, whodunit? While your initial hunch may be confirmed at the halfway point, Redwood's story is just ramping up. It will take much more than reliable hearsay to bring this devil to justice — it's gonna take rock solid, ironclad PROOF. And as they say, "the devil is in the details."
Aside from a riveting storyline, "PROOF's" two primary assets are:
1) Compelling and well-crafted characters. I felt as if I walked away knowing (and caring) more about Dr. Lilly Reeves and Detective Nathan Long than I do about some of my closest BFFs. (Hey Nate! Grab me another cold Mountain Dew from the fridge, will ya?)
2) Redwood's expertise in the fields of Critical Care and Emergency Nursing combined with an impeccable knack for storytelling allows her to paint vivid, realistic and accurate accounts of ER drama and crime scene investigation.
I was also drawn particularly to the underlying faith-based sidestory — a powerful message of God's love and grace. But fear not, non-believers, the Jesus factor does little to compromise "PROOF's" edge.
As I'd burned through to the last few pages, I breathed a sigh of relief — "Ah, closure. I finally know how it's gonna end." Not so fast there, Hot Shot. Redwood will zing ya right up to the very end.
Simply put, I'm the latest and greatest Bloodline fan. Bring on Part II!
