Vanna's Choice: Color It Beautiful Afghans Reviews

I enjoyed the projects in this one! I made a 'lap blanket,' pg. 14 and a baby blanket made with a variety of squares offered in back.

    Just Ehhhh....

While a beginner will love the simplicity of this book, it has nothing unique about it.

The instructions are very clear and the larger print helps you keep track.

I picked up this book to learn and relearn some square patterns for a friend's baby shower afghan. The patterns may be a little daunting for beginner pattern readers, but if you're comfortable with single, double, and triple crochet, you shouldn't have much trouble figuring the patterns out, even if you're a new pattern reader. The patterns I used (criss cross square, eyelet lace square, and webbed lace square) yielded some really pretty results and were a nice change from the basic granny square.

Vanna White gives good crochet. I wonder if she used to drag around her crocheting while between takes on Wheel Of Fortune? All of her crochet books (there are about 10) give clear instructions and most of the projects are attractive, some are even unique and inspiring. I got a pile of these from the library but I think I'd like to find some of these books used to have around. Vanna also has a new line of yarn out at Joann Fabrics that I really like.

I admit I bought the book for the cover. I loved the colors Vanna chose in making her ripple afghan. I just didn't know that her book was basically the three same patterns, but with different color variations and sizes. Her older books are better for the variety in her patterns.

  • Lady Dragonbat

    beautiful patterns!

  • Kathy

I've made many of the blankets in this book and they have been easy to do.

  • Robin Hall

Fun do-able patterns. I liked her baby blankets.
