Little Brother \u0026 Little Sister Reviews

    Meh... normal, supongo.

Tal vez le tendría más aprecio a la historia si se me hubiese leído de pequeño, o hubiese crecido con el relato como compañero, pero al no ser así, doy mi opinión actual.

This is one of these weird stories that hasn't aged very well, and doesn't really have a moral/lesson to be learned from it. Eh, can't win them all. At least the deer is cute.

This is my favourite fairytale so far.
But oh my word - this is pretty darn intense!! It is very dark and twisted; some pretty dire things happen to these characters! I really enjoyed it and my jaw dropped at many points; both with confusion and bewilderment! :)

  • Caroline

Classic elements, with a wholesome ending.

  • Vaishali

Great... gentle, magical, and replete with a noble king and wicked witch :)

I have the whole collection of the Brothers Grimm thanks to someone I love very very much. There is so many tales I never heard of by the brothers and this is one of them. I absolutely loved this fairy tale and find it worthy on keeping and adding to my collection of favorite Grimm Stories. It is a heart warming one, wicked, but still kind and loving. I found it so amazing the Little Sisters love for her brother over so many months and years. To stay by his side when he was changed into a Fawn even though she was moving on in her life. It was pure amazing. Loved it lots.

Well, the brothers Grimm certainly lived up to their name with this one! I loved reading Grimm fairy tales as a teen, and I'm not sure if I've read this one before or not. Regardless, I was pleased to find this version with the lovely illustrations by Bernadette Watts. The story is interesting enough, though the end is quite grim --probably not best for reading to the littles right before bed.

I felt that this Fairy Tale had a mixture of many well known ones and, the premise of many fairy tales we have come to know and expect. Early on, there were elements of Hazel and Gretel getting lost in the woods.

There was magic, a witch and an evil step mother with a very nice ending. A wonderfully sweet story.

    What a bunch of dimwits.

  • Mary Catelli

A tale of a young brother and sister fleeing their witch stepmother. Their problems after START with the brother becoming a deer.

  • Timothy Morrison

    dark ending

  • Sandra (folded.between.pages.of.books)

A twisted tale with a happy ending.
    Really enjoyed this one!

    This was very weird.

While it fails to have any stand out elements it definitely fulfills it's role

I have the complete set of the Grimm Fairy-Tales, and there are so many that I haven’t read! They are very short, as one would know, so I have decided to read each one and give them a review. Some are very vulgar, some are very cute and some don’t even make sense. Some of them are well known fairy-tales and some have never been told. Some are fairy-tales we know but are not the same because they have been downplayed for the children.

As many stories start, there is an evil step mother to a brother and a sister. The siblings ran away so they could live happily together. The evil step mother tricked the mother into a roebuck. They lived happily in the woods together, human sister and roebuck brother, until the king and his guard were on a hunting trip.

After some events, the king finds the sister and marries her.

Will the evil queen stand for his? What will happen to roebuck brother? What about the one-eyed daughter of the evil step mother? What about the child?!

This story is so cute. I think it is a well told story. It has some graphic things that can be overlooked. Lessons? None, unless keeping your siblings close and take care of them.

Jealousy and making others lives miserable will eventually come back to bite you, especially if those people happen to be your very own children. The punishment is a bit over-the-top, but I suppose one can't say that it wasn't somewhat deserved. There was also some pretty interesting imagery such as the brother turning into a fawn and still being able to talk and the ghost queen returning to nurse her child in the middle of the night.

It is different but not that different from what you might remember from first hearing this tale as a kid.

The plot here are very good but also dark which is the mix which I personally like a lot.

The writing style here was very old and you could feel the vibe of old the Europe which was amazing for me.

Not reading this edition. Reading from The Annotated Brothers Grimm published by Norton.
