It's been twelve years since Tru Bennett last saw Jake Wethers, her former best friend and boy she once loved.

Jake Wethers, sexy, tattooed and deliciously bad lead singer, and brains behind The Mighty Storm, one of the biggest bands in the world, left Tru with a broken heart when he moved from England to America with his family when they were both fourteen.

Sent to interview Jake for her music column by the magazine she works for, they are both unprepared for the sparks that fly the instant they reconnect. Only, there’s a complication to their instant feelings for one another—Will, Tru’s boyfriend of two years.

Then Jake makes Tru a job offer she can't refuse—travelling the world with him and his band. But taking the job means leaving Will behind, and being on the road with the band means spending an inordinate amount of time with Jake.

Is Tru strong enough to resist the delectable bad boy who once held her heart so completely, or will she willingly risk it all for one night with the world's most notorious womanizer?

Looks like this is another one of those books everyone loves but me. I desperately tried and wanted to love this story like many of its readers, but, ultimately, this book did not work for me.

My biggest issue with this story, besides the long-winded, and, frankly, amateurish and disjointed prose, was the author's tendency to tell me what to feel rather than allowing me to experience it myself. When the prose managed to flow smoothly and passionately, it felt effortless and I easily became immersed in Tru and Jake's world; unfortunately, that happened rarely. I was relieved as the story progressed that the excessive rhetoric did slowly taper off–the author stopped give us the complete rundown of the characters every move and action–but not enough to redeem the story for me.

I also had a difficult time with the cheating aspect in this book, but not for the reasons I expected. I expected to feel upset and somewhat disgusted with the characters. What I ended up feeling, however, was indifference. I was completely detached from the drama of the situation. I had to constantly remind myself that Tru was seriously involved with someone else. I felt her relationship with her boyfriend, Will, was manufactured and insubstantial. Making what should have caused me emotional turmoil inconsequential. I did roll my eyes at Tru's hypocrisy when she believed Jake, the hero, cheated on her. Now that did annoy me!

I know many readers love this book and I understand why–it's full of intrigue, drama, and spice. For me, however, this became a story that had great potential but got lost in it's own rhetoric.

“I love you… I’ve only ever loved one girl, Tru – and that’s you. It’s always been you. I’ve loved you from the moment I knew how to love.“

*SQUEEEEE* ABSOLUTELY AMAZING ROCKSTAR ROMANCE!!! WOW!

I am totally in LOVE with this book! Freaking. Thrilling. Read.

A well-written, beautiful story that put me through a deliciously emotional angsty ringer, made my heart race and flutter and had me swooning like crazy over Jake Wethers.

I loved the writing style right from the start. It was vivid, clean, and got you right into Tru’s head. This book made me laugh, cry, squee, cheer, gasp, sigh, swoon, melt, fan myself, take deep calming breaths in order to move on, gave me goosbumps, made my breath hitch, made me read with misty eyes for like the whole final 15%, it just TOTALLY affected me. My emotions were all over the place and all of them were INTENSE!

My heart = the author’s yo-yo. I utterly LOVED IT!!

Tru and Jake were the best of childhood friends. They did everything together. And although they were too young to really understand it, they did fall in love. Everything was perfect until his family suddenly uprouted to a different country when they were 14 and they lost touch.

Now, twelve years later, Jake has become the world famous ”ultimate bad boy of rock” – living a life full of booze, parties, drugs and women , while Tru has become a music journalist. Even though he’s hugely popular, she’s never told anyone that she knew him, wanting to keep that part of her memories private. So now, when her boss signs her up to interview and write an article on him, she absolutely terrified – she knows he’s changed from the boy she knew – will he remember her? What will they say? She knows about a dark part of his past that the world does’t now about. Maybe he won’t want to see her? And yet at the same time, she’s utterly excited out of her mind.

“Jake Wethers, the man who used to be the boy I loved.”

Ooooooohhmigosh, when they meet for the first time again, my. heart. was. racing!!!! I was smiling, grinning, and my heart was pounding. It was AMAZING!! I love books that affect me so strongly and I have to say that from the moment I met Jake, I fell in instant love with him. INSTANT.

And its clear from the start that the spark between them has never died. And he asks her to go on tour with them as the official biographer of his tour and then oh how the fun begins as Jake, subtly at first, and later not so subtly, works hard to rekindle the romance and show Tru the depths of the feelings he’s always had for her.

“It’s always been you, Tru. Always.” *melt*”

Now, here’s the hiccup, Tru has a boyfriend, Will- a wonderful, sweet, gorgeous, loving boyfriend. And dispite her feelings towards Jake, she isn’t quite sure how he feels towards her. She has a lot of insecurities, but I found them to be understandable – annoying perhaps at times because of how badly I just wanted them to get together, but they were not ridiculous. I think its easy for people on the outside to judge her initial reaction, but honestly, in her shoes, I’d prolly be having a lot of the same thoughts myself.

There IS a little bit of a love triangle going on for a part of the book, and yes, when Jake and Tru first get physical, there IS cheating. But, and here’s the big BUT, it did not bother me (*gasp* and I’m the person who utterly HATES any cheating in books). Why did it not bother me? Because it wasn’t long and drawn out. The cheating was understandable. Here are two people CLEARLY meant to be together who have honestly LOVED each other since they were kids, in a sitation where one of them is attached. It sucks. And they gave what they had between them a go and ended up telling Will within a few days of starting so there wasn’t this huge big long cheating time. Yes, it was messy. My heart was in utter turmoil. Yes, my heart hurt for Will. But there was just no denying how right Jake and True felt together. They were truely each other’s soul mates.

“You’re mine, Tru. I’m not sharing you with him anymore.”

And this isn’t a book about cheating. Its a story about a childhood love that never truely went away throughout years of separation, and how, once reunited, nothing will be able to keep them apart. The cheating thing gets resolved quickly and then after that its just about Jake and Tru.

So, now, back to Jake *pauses a moment to SWOON*… Jake Wethers, perhaps the sweetest and hottest rock god to grace this earth. I have’t had my heart this much a-flutter since Kellan and Gideon. Let me tell you, I was hyperventilating and swooning to the MAX. What is it about rock stars that is just so. Freaking. THRILLING?!

The chemistry between Jake and Tru… oh dear lord *fans self*, it sizzles. You can feel it come right off the page. Totally undiable. Totally INTENSE. From the start, you can just FEEL that its ’right’ between them. And the intensity between them just slowly builds from their first meeting to the point where it just couldn’t be held back any more. Made you feel for them that much more strongly.

The book is steamy – very steamy, but not erotica steamy. Its there, but not overpowering. Personally, I thought it was just the right amount for this story.

Once Jake and Tru were together, yes, they fought, yes, they had their moments of stupid, but c’mon, who doesn’t? Personally, despite reading some of the scenes and just going “FUUUUUUUUCCCKKKKKK”, I didn’t find that the drama overshadowed the story, but rather brought it a sense of realism. They have a lot to deal with – paparazi, public image, various things that happen in their private life… and so naturally, it affects them. But they do work through their issues… and them together just utterly melted my heart *dreamy sigh*

The pacing of the book was mostly excellent. But if I had to complain, I’d say that there were a few scenes that were alluded to, but skipped over in detail that I’d really have wished to read in full. The time jumps are a little jolting, making you momentarily disconnect from the story line, but it quickly picks up again and didn’t take away from my overall reading experience.

This book deals with a lot of serious issues – drugs, cheating, death, commitment, the effects of fame. But its a romance at heart… and an abolutely beautiful one at that.

The ending was a totally swoony HEA but was a little abrupt. I loved it, but… I WANT MORE!!!! NOW!! Please?! Ms. Towle, pretty please????!! *begs*

oooo and we are treated at the end of the book to one chapter from Jake’s POV. Its the scene where they meet for the first time and can I just say that that might actually be the BEST guy POV I’ve ever read. You got RIGHT into his head. Literally every thought. It was BRILLIANT.

The sequel will be out on August 20th, 2013 :)

If you are looking for a rockstar romance that will totally take over your heart, try this one out!

Also, if you liked this book, you will most likely love Thoughtless, and vice versa… if you are a big fan of Thoughtless, RUN out and get yourself this book. Cuz… just WOW!!

Jake Wethers… you are my rock god <3

I found a picture of this guy that looks EXACTLY like how Jake was described in the books (just add blue contacts and tattoo him up a bit in your minds :P ). What do you guys think? Is he HOT or what?

and how's this for a potential Jake and Tru?

    2.5 stars.

You are only allowed to read this review if one of these three things applies to you :

    1. You've read this book.
    2. You have no plans of reading this book, so spoilers will not be an issue for you.
    3. You plan on reading the book but don't mind a few spoilers because you want to read my awesome half-assed review (okay, so the narcissism was unnecessary, but you get my point).

I'm not going to lie, I was a hair nervous to read this book.

I know that a couple of my friends on GR were involved in some of the pre-release feedback for The Mighty Storm and I didn't want to piss off anyone if I hated the book because (surprise, surprise) I actually do like my friends.

So I had a few complaints, but overall, it wasn't a bad read.

I'm just going to go conversational on this review...no bullet points, no pics...just talking it out here.

Let's address the first 2/3 of the story :

The first 2/3 of the story felt like a better-written version of Thoughtless. The writing was more polished (other than a few typos) and there were far less repetitive character quirks and annoying habits. Because of this, I was probably less annoyed over the cheating than some people were. I'd seen it done in a far more excessive way in Thoughtless, so it didn't quite grate on me the same way here. I still wish that Tru had nipped things in the bud a few chapters sooner, however. I say this just about any time I read a story which features cheating as a main plot point - it's not the cheating that I have a problem with (we're all human and make mistakes), it's when the action continues on and on that I start to get antsy. Once or twice is not an issue for me. I'm fine with a little bit of drama thrown into a story...just don't drag it out past a point where we start to lose sympathy for the characters.

I do think cheating as a main plot device is sort of tired by now. There are a thousand other ways to write conflict into a story without having to resort to this. Unless the author is going to bring it and expand upon the subject and make it something so major and creative that the idea blows everyone's minds, I'd rather see this trend be put to rest.

Overall, I liked Jake and Tru's chemistry. I felt the connection and understood Tru's dilemma. In her situation, it was easy to see why she was torn. She had the love of a good man for 2 years, but the person she was closest to from her childhood came back. It was easy to see why she wrestled with her emotions.

There were moments between the two of them that were magical :

    "Joder," I whisper.
He grabs my hair, kissing me hard on the mouth.

I really liked Jake. He was sexy, funny, cocky, interesting and thoughtful. His long-standing love and devotion toward Tru was adorable to watch. His issues and questionable acts of retaliation didn't really bother me because he had a lot on his plate and Tru didn't always make things easy for him (again, I've seen worse, so I tend to let things slide when some books take the behavior and amp it up way beyond this). The sex was nice and the love story was sweet. These are the things I actually didn't have a problem with.

But yeah, there were a few moments that I could have lived without...
Now I see that Jake is my mighty storm. He's fifty shades of fucked up broken and complex, and no one knows him like I do, or ever will. He needs me.

*innocent whistle* You didn't see my revision there, right?

Now let's address the last 1/3 of the story :

Honestly, I felt like the story should have ended when Jake and Tru got together the first time.

Tackling a drug issue during the last 100 pages of the book was just rushed and somewhat sloppy. In order to really give the proper amount of focus to this, there should have been more time allotted for the second part of the story. I would have preferred to have seen this book end at the part where you "thought" a HEA was going to happen, and the second part of the story broken off into another book. Otherwise, I would have preferred to have seen Jake and Tru get together much earlier on and had less focus on Will. Perhaps there shouldn't have been a love triangle after all. These two could have reconnected, then a focus might have been put on the problems that a fledgling couple thrown into the midst of fame and paparazzi stalking would have gone through. Either way, it felt like we had two separate books clashing with each other in one binding.

    Who should read this?

Fans of high-drama books would probably enjoy this story. If you liked Thoughtless, then you'll probably find Mighty Storm to be a good fit. If you didn't like Thoughtless, but only because of the repetitiveness, then there's still a chance that you'll enjoy Mighty Storm.

If you can't handle cheating in any form, then you'll want to skip this one.

    Choosing
The Mighty Storm as my next read was definitely the BEST decision that I've made because this is now officially added to my list of favorites!

    description

At first, I thought the book was just like any other rock star romances that portray typical plots about a famous guy falling in love with an ordinary girl. Well, there were certainly clichés thrown in places in this book but I could say they were designed in a gripping, enticing way. One you couldn't say no to.

The story centers around the characters Jake Wethers and Trudy "Tru" Bennett. Jake, the lead singer and founder of one of the biggest rock bands known as The Mighty Storm, is dubbed as the ultimate bad boy and a prolific womanizing rock star. He was Tru's best friend (and first love) when they were still kids but after he moved to the US with his mom and stepdad, their communication stopped. After 12 years of separation, their paths crossed again when Tru interviewed Jake for a magazine scoop. Now a music journalist, Tru did not expect her feelings for Jake to reawaken after seeing him again.

The romance was intoxicating and the angst was so good I devoured it all up. There were a lot of scenes that made me feel anxious and totally on edge while waiting for what's about to happen between Tru and Jake. There were also parts that made me feel furious because of Tru's stupid decisions. I have to admit that Tru got on my nerves most of the time. Surprisingly though, her annoying qualities didn't diminish my overall enjoyment because I just loved how the story was beautifully rendered.

Call me shallow, but one of the things that I also loved about this book was Jake Wethers. Book boyfriend alert, ladies and gentlemen!

    description

If you fancy bad boy and possessive (in a good way) heroes, I don't think you will ever dislike Jake. I loved how his character was portrayed here. He's this kind of guy that's too good to be true despite his flaws and imperfections.

“I love you beyond any lyrics I could ever write, or any words I could ever say.”

    What an emotional journey
The Mighty Storm has been. I just love Tru and Jake together! I wish to read more books like this, books that will make me feel like I am reading a romance book for the very first time. You know that feeling? Ughhh...

“To me Jake was and is music, it's what glued us together.”

this really did not work for me.

it was mostly the writing to be honest. there was a WHOLE lot of tell and not a lot of show. we're supposed to believe that this girl was best friends with a guy, lost touch, and now he's a rock star. and she's supposed to interview him and they're gonna fall in love or whatever.

but we get almost NO context as to what their childhood friendship looked like. there is no relationship building in the present and we get no flashbacks to the past. we're just supposed to believe that people with completely different aspirations and at completely different life stages are supposed to magically work because we used to be best friends.

it made everything feel completely unbelievable, low stakes, and pretty insta-lovey.

this was also an issue because i mean i usually don't love this plot device anyway re: love triangles but it felt absolutely ridiculous that our main character would choose the rockstar she barely knows over a guy who she's actively been seeing for 2 years, GIVEN the context or lack thereof for her relationship with the rockstar.

on top of that, our heroine, Tru(dy) was completely naive and immature in her feelings and how she handled them. if you want to be with one guy, you need to let the other guy know immediately. dragging things out doesn't spare feelings.

had this book been written differently it could have been explosive. i like love triangles. i like rockstar romances. i like childhood best friends. but none of the pieces worked effectively here and i felt like i was reading someone's diary rather than a full fledged first person narrative.

    5 SMOKING HOT JAKETASTIC STARS

STOP WHAT YOU'RE READING AND READ THIS NOW!!!!!!!!!

This book was so much more than a 5 Star Book! In-fact I don't think there's a rating high enough for it. YES!!! It was that freaking good!!!! Lets start somewhere absolutely delicious! I'm talking about Rock God extraordinaire, Jake freaking Wethers!!!! He's the quintessential bad boy, tattoo's, lean body, cocky, sexy, the whole damn package! He's the type of bad boy that immediately gives you flutters in your tummy and I'm not talking little pitter patters, I'm talking FULL BLOWN FLUTTERS!!! Your girly parts will never be the same.

"Well, when we're talking sex and you, baby, my clothes just disintegrate," he shrugs, grinning. ~~ Jake

Yes my friends that is a "Jake" quote! I know totally bad boy hot right?!

Jake and Trudy grew up together in the Uk and were best friends. They were separated because Jakes family landed up moving to the US when he was 14. And of course they run into each other again when Trudy Bennett (aka Tru) who is a music journalist, comes and interview's Jake for a column at the magazine she is working at. The chemistry between these two is palpable and intense!! And after they run into each other the story just takes off! This book had everything in it, one minute you are happy and dancing around and the next you are anxious and tense and then thirty seconds after that you are in tears and are crying like a baby! It was a rainbow of emotions and was so good to read. Samantha's book are always such a journey and roller coaster ride and this one was no different. Jake wins you over immediately and worms his way into your heart and you fall in love with Tru even with all the stupid decisions she makes!!

If you're looking for something sexy, angsty and just plain EPIC. Then you've found the perfect book and need to pick this up now! It's got everything in a love story you need and I'm positive it will become a favorite of yours. Samantha Towle has never disappointed me. I'm eagerly awaiting book two in this series. :)

Enjoyed this book! The writing was direct and fairly simple, but the story was engaging and I really loved the characters. The book had a sweet, fun start that slowly evolved into a more in-depth, emotional read.

When music journalist Trudy Bennett gets hired to interview one of the world's most famous and sexy rock stars, "Jake Wethers", she is extremely surprised and reluctant. Jake was Tru's first love. They were childhood best friends until life separated them at the age of fourteen, leaving Tru alone and heartbroken.

I don't think I need to tell you how the sexy sparks fly when these two reunite! It seems all those years apart have not diffused their connection, and a deeper attraction ignites. There is just one problem; Tru has a boyfriend, to whom she is determined on remaining faithful. Even as she agrees to go on tour with Jake and his band to cover his biography, she refuses to betray her boyfriend Will.

I cannot tell you how many times I forgot about poor Will throughout this story. I even considered trying this little 'remembering Will' tactic just so he wouldn't slip my mind again...

Reminder Finger with String Pictures, Images and Photos

I'm sorry Will. You were really sweet...

I think the fact that Tru's boyfriend wasn't constantly present in this story made the love triangle pill a little easier to swallow. I sort of felt less guilty as a reader rooting for the other man in the absence of her current one. Speaking of guilt, I adored Tru, but I do wish her actions didn't so quickly and completely betray her thoughts. She struggled internally with the idea of hurting Will, but literally JUMPED on the first chance that arose...;) Fortunately, I was able to be more understanding when I considered the history she and Jake shared.

A steamy read with a lot of fantastic references to music. Jake was a sexy, romantic, possessive, intensely tormented hero and I fully enjoyed his journey to redemption. Looking forward to the second book of this series.

"I'll never be good enough for you, I know that. But I'm no good without you, and if that makes me a selfish bastard for wanting you as badly as I do then so be it because I can't live a life that doesn't have you in it."

1 for Jake... but not thrilled with him either Stars-2014 Read
This book has been on my tbr list FOREVER. I would look at the cover...think about starting..re-read the blurb... and then move on. After finishing the read I now know why my gut was telling me this book really wasn't for me.

I will get to the point... (This was one of the very few reviews I have ever ranted about)

So the lesson here... is to follow your gut... because more than most of the time it is right.

My cherry has been popped! I am no longer a Samantha Towle virgin. This little minx is definitely someone I'd do again! I was touched in all the right places and teased with an assortment of intense emotions.

So if the "sex" was so good, why not more stars? Because I wasn't "turned-on" right away. The book didn't really start for me until the tour when things really started to happen, but then it gave it to me way too fast! The second half was so effin amazing; I definitely wanted more of that. It got so good, but then it ended way too quickly.

Pacing issues aside though, this was a great read! WARNING: You will need to hydrate yourself before you read The Mighty Storm. You are going to sweat from the sweltering heat between Tru & Jake, the physical intimacy will leave you damp and dripping, the emotional heart-ache will have you in tears!

Nothing compares to the gut wrenching emotions a reader experiences when the hero breaks your heart. You can't breathe; it leaves you feeling physically ill! I haven't hurt like this since Modern Love Story or The Opportunist. You want to believe that Jake is prince charming, a tattooed, mischievous, and somewhat naughty prince charming; one with a really big...but still a prince charming. I hurt right along with Tru! I healed right along with Tru, I forgave right along with Tru, and I came right along with Tru!

This book didn't find my "g" spot right away, but it did eventually find it. It found it, played with it a bit, and left me wanting more...READ ON!

The Mighty Storm was recommended to me by my book girlfriends. Thank you ladies 😘💕for recommending this book to me ages ago! Their raves piqued my curiosity and finally dived into my first Samantha Towle novel.

Music journalist Trudy Bennett crossed paths again with her childhood best friend and lead vocalist of a famous rock band The Mighty Storm, Jake Wethers as she gets a chance to exclusively interview him for the Etiquette Magazine (the company Trudy works for). They haven't seen each other for twelve years since he migrated to United States. She's been in love with him for a longtime but at some point they lost their communication. Now that he returns in her life, the chemistry between them intensified.

What a roller coaster of events between Tru and Jake. It's full of angst, tension and scorching hot romance. There are several moments I'm frustrated with Tru for all her wrong decisions and I want to shake her so badly. If only she's been honest with . In fairness to her, she apologized and clear things up.

As for Jake, there was more to his bad boy rock star image. He had high and low points in his life. Grieving for his abusive father, drug addiction, partying and women, it came to a point of self-destruction. His declaration of love with Trudy through his actions were swoon worthy. He's an alpha guy who gets what he wants. He's attentive, thoughtful and very sweet to Tru. The romance between them was intimate and passionate. They are just meant to be.

It's a great entertaining book and I enjoyed the drama. I'm looking forward to read the sequel and follow Jake and Tru's journey. I have a strong feeling I'll love it more than this book.

  • Duchess Nicole

I loved the first 100 pages or so, and felt the book had promise to be great. After that, it sort of fell apart for me. There is soooooooooooooooo much unnecessary drama that could have been avoided had either of these two had stopped being self involved enough to think through their situation rationally.

I didn't dislike either of them, but I think I just expected a more mature relationship. This one felt like a high school love affair with adult situations and sex.

Basically, it wasn't a bad book. The British slant of writing was kind of cool, because you don't often get a writer who won't cave in and write 'American'. I'm sure there is a technical term for it, but you get my drift. Though I'm glad I don't have to read it all of the time, because it did interrupt the flow. What is a 'vest' in the UK? Is it a tank top? I also think that there were some editing issues, but not enough for me to care all that much about.

So for the first 100-150 pages, I give it five stars. After that, not so much. I think this is one that you really need to be in the mood for. Prepare for angst and drama, drama, drama!!! I can see the appeal, but I read it at a time that I needed something a little more toned down.

He likes his alcohol, drugs, cigarettes & he is a habitual lady’s man…..hmmm no that’s not right…”lady’s man” sounds to tame ……let’s say he usually turns his sexy smile & fuck-me eyes on a girl & they drop to their knees, magically losing their panties on the way down !!!...yep that’s a better way to describe our Jake ;)

Ok this would be the guys queue to squeal …..or grunt & punch each other in the arm or whatever it is u man type people do . lol

Jake only knows how to play to win. He is in control at all times……….until Tru that is …(“YAY TRU” I say . Score 1 for team vagina woop woop ) he has never wanted something he can’t have & this frustrates Jake !! He is not use to not getting what he wants &his reaction to some of those situations made me want to poke him in the eye with something pointy !!!!!
Now don’t get me wrong !! Jake is not all spoilt bad-boy . He is romantic & warm & sensitive & watching him suffer broke my heart into itty bitty pieces  ..sniff sniff 
But its not just Jake who broke me ….ohhhhhh no !!! Tru !! my poor beautiful Tru !!! see Tru has a “situation” of her own to deal with (I’m calling it the situation coz I don’t want to give too much away . I want you to experience & FEEL IT like I did ) From the moment she fell back into Jakes life some might say she had a choice to make…play it safe or risk it all !!! but I believe she never had a choice . Jake is her heart 

This book has EVERYTHING a great contemporary romance needs !!
An unforgettable romance between two incredibly relatable characters that was beautiful.
There were “catch your breath” moments of angst & drama that made me cry & scream & want to detach emotionally to save myself the pain of suffering with them . But it was impossible!!! I was in way too deep for that !!
There was a cast of minor characters that gave humour & extra life to the story .
OHHHH & there were what I like to call induced “1 handed reading” moments …..You know when you have to hold your kindle in 1 hand coz your other hand is busy …….you know lol…….well you get the idea. Teehee…..What I’m trying to say is the steamy “adult” scenes are hotter than a BBQ plate left in the sun on an Aussie summers day !!!!! 
& to top it off it has a hot gay man that can dance up a storm (& I want him to be my BFF ) who saved me (&Tru) from losing my mind & stopped my hiccuppy sob fests on more than 1 occasion ……….oh bless you Stuart for being there for us !!!!
To say that this book affected me emotionally is a gross understatement. I found myself selfishly not wanting release day to come so I didn’t have to share Jake & Tru with the rest of the world. LOL
Its sort of like that awkward moment when you find out that someone else thinks of your BFF as their BFF too !!!! ummmm what ?? NOOO !!! IM NOT SHARING!!! LOL I want to clutch TMS to my chest & growl at anyone who comes near wanting to take a peak 

ALAS!! I must loosen my whits knuckle death grip & let my baby’s go 
& my girls always say “sharing is caring Sali” lol

So this is me letting go & sharing one of the most wonderful books I have read !!!

ENJOY ALL MY BOOK WHORE AWESOME MATES OUT THERE !!!!

    ROCK ON BITCHES !!!!

OWWW 1 MORE THING !!!!........MAKE SURE U DON’T MISS THE SPECIAL LITTLE BONUS AT THE END !!!!! ITS FUCKING AWESOME

Looking forward to seeing u all there 

Oh, and another thing...sorry, I'll finish in a minute. I've noticed a couple of comments on here referring to this book as being "just like Thoughtless" and I want to make a call on that right now. It isn't !
It has Jake, lead singer of a band and a love triangle and that's where the similarities end! This book is totally different in feel and execution. Read it and see for yourself!

LOL OK I PROMISE IM DONE NOW :).......now go get ready for a read-a-thon party with us on friday !!!!

This book left me with a smile on my face. I absolutely loved it. From page one I was sucked into the drama of Jake and Tru and I couldn’t stop reading. I was obsessed. I was thinking about it while at work, wishing it was excruciatingly slow so that I could read.

Jake Wethers is a guy with issues. After dealing with the death of a close friend he goes off the rails and into rehab. He is screwed up and he makes for a great read. He’s a recovering addict, party boy, playboy but he loves Tru above all else and that shows.

I loved the relationship between Tru and Jake. They had been childhood best friends and lost touch after Jake’s family moved away. They reconnect in the beginning of the book and find out that both had had crushes on the other when they were teenagers. The connection was instant and the history between the two really shined through.

Music played a huge part in this book. Both Jake and Tru grew up on music at the hand of her father. Music was instrumental to them. It defined their lives. Since I also grew up that way, I could relate to that. There was a particular passage that brought tears to my eyes just for its meaning alone:

“If you, Jake Wethers, had to pick one song as your title song to describe yourself, what would it be – and it can’t be one of your own,” I quickly add.
    “Hurt,” he answers without hesitation.
It makes me hurt inside he picked that song.
    “Why?”
He lets out a light sigh. “Some people said Reznor was writing a lyrical suicide note, others said he was writing about finding a reason to live. I think it’s both…it just depends on which side you’re looking at it from.”
“And which side are you looking at it from?”
He stares at me from a long moment. My heart is hammering in my chest.
    “Now? …a reason to live.”
    My insides start to tremble.
“Reznor’s version or Johnny Cash’s?” I ask quietly, trying to conceal the pain from my voice.
    “Johnny Cash.”
    “Why?”
He closes his eyes briefly. And in this moment I just want to magic up all the power in the world to soothe his pains away.
“Because I have a few things in common with him,” he answers, opening his eyes.
    “Like?”
“The drugs…the women…hanging out for the girl of my dreams.”
I take a sharp breath in. tears instantly prick the backs of my eyes.
He touches my face, his thumb smoothing over my lips. “You’re my June, Tru.”

That same passage comes back at the end of the book when Jake switches the song from Cash’s version to Reznor’s. It left me blinking back tears. Here are links to both versions so you get an idea of the differences:

    Johnny Cash's "Hurt"

    Trent Reznor's "Hurt"

Just listening to the differences in the songs is enough to make me tear up for Jake. The end was perfect for this couple and this book. Music was what reconnected them in the beginning of the book, so it was perfectly fitting that music would mend the rift between them. When nothing else would show Tru exactly what Jake was feeling, Reznor’s song got through to her.

Another song that Jake sings in the book is Wicked Game by Chris Isaak. A really great version that is perfect for Jake is by
    Three Days Grace.

This book has definitely earned a place on my “favorites” shelf and I will absolutely be re-reading it. And since the author recently announced that there will be a sequel, I'll be anxiously waiting for it.

I liked this book a lot. Unfortunately I couldn't give it five stars because of the editing issues. The grammatical and spelling errors were atrocious. Ms. Towle needs a new editor.

That being said, I loved everything else about this book. Jake and Tru were meant to be together. Tru was a annoying at first, but I liked her by the end. Jake, well come on, what's not to like about him. I'm a sucker for tattooed bad boys with a good heart, and that's Jake. The last concert scene when Jake sang "Hurt" to Tru melted me completely. I love that song, both versions, and it was so appropriate at that point in the story.

If your still on the fence about reading this because of the infidelity issue, all I can say is it's an important part of the story, but it's not just about that. We read romance books and unfortunately in romantic relationships people do cheat. I think this book handles that issue well.

So all and all I'm glad I decided to read this. I think a second book about Simone and Denny would be great!

(Thanks Jo for telling me I'll love it. You were right! )

Ok – so I’m trying to write this without giving anything away. I’ll let my fun and oh-so-creative use of gifs tell you for me…

At first I was a little

Then it started to seem a lot like the book Thoughtless and I was not happy.

Then it started to not be like Thoughtless and I really liked it.

Then some stuff happened and I was like…

Then some other stuff happened and I was like…

Then the ending happened and I was like…

    You should read it.

    http://totallybookedblog.com/

I was given the most amazing opportunity to Beta read this book.

Where to start with The Mighty Storm?? First off, I loved this book. I mean, I really loved this book! 5 star read for me without a doubt!

Really, what’s not to love? There’s a hot, can’t be tamed, tattooed bad boy rock god named Jake Wethers…….(heart palpitations here – get me a defibrillator stat!!) for starters!

Not only that, it’s got romance, angst, drama, emotion, humour, music references, hot sex and oh did I mention hot, tattooed bad boy rock star Jake Wethers???

Now that I’ve got that out the way, let’s get serious.

This book wasn’t just about “gorgeous as all hell” Jake, although he was certainly a very pleasant part of the book .

The story is told through Tru’s (Trudy Bennett) eyes and centres on her and her former best friend Jake finding each other after twelve years apart and realising they still have feelings they thought were long buried.

You will feel for Tru as she discovers feelings for Jake she knows she shouldn’t have. He’s her former best friend, yes, she loved him as a teenager and he broke her heart when he left her at fourteen, but Tru has moved on. She is in love with Will, her wonderful boyfriend of two years and she must hold onto that relationship, whilst at the same time try to deny and conceal the feelings she has for Jake.

Jake (lead singer of The Mighty Storm) is dealing with past demons and Tru coming into his life gives him a purpose he didn’t know he needed until she returned.

In Jake, the author has managed to bring us a strong, alpha, hot, yet sensitive and loving male lead character who is humanly flawed and let me tell you ladies, this guy is going to be the stuff of women’s fantasies that’s for sure!

But not only has she managed to bring to life such wonderful characters in Tru and Jake, but also the supporting characters of the band, Denny, Tom, Smith and of course Jake’s PA Stuart who I just adored.

This book had it all for me. It was a book about human relationships, human eff ups, human frailties and of course the world of a high profile rock star who tries to find a life of normality in a world of abnormality for himself and Tru.

Jake is a man who always gets what he wants, but will Tru be the one thing he can’t have?

I enjoyed every minute of this book, though I have to say, be prepared, because there were times that I actually clutched my chest and cried, such is the truthfulness of the writing in some of the scenes which you will discover throughout the book.
This is Samantha Towle’s first foray into the contemporary romance genre and wow! Did she nail it!

What I like about Samantha’s writing here is that she explores the little nuances of her characters that allows the reader the ability to feel like you’re actually part of this story . Allows you to be a part of the world that is Jake, Tru and The Mighty Storm. You will feel like you’re really there with them, in the room and living this story through Tru’s eyes.

I love nothing more than finding a book that has the ability to draw me in and hold me there until the very last page. A book where I can feel what the characters feel and see what the characters see. It makes me feel a part of something and enables me to “live” the book rather just ” read” a story and that’s exactly how I felt experiencing The Mighty Storm.

I’m not going to go into details about the story because to give anything away would be an injustice to other readers and I want them to experience this book as I did. To experience it the way the author intended it to be read.

Yes readers…….. freeze some dinners, hold the housework, tell the family to fend for themselves because once you start reading The Mighty Storm, you are not going to want to put it down!

Be sure to keep reading and click past the end because there a little “bonus” at the back you won’t want to miss!

    5 "First Love" Stars

     photo da774cc6b7833100ce5dac80c42d1700_zps7e580f8d.jpg

Jake Wethers lived next door to Trudy Bennett while growing up in England. Everything changed when he moved to America with his family at the age of 14. They kept up with each other for a while but eventually the letters stopped and so did the phone calls. Life goes on, you live your life, but do you ever forget? Young Love, First Love, True Love, Love Not Forgotten.....Can 12 years of not seeing each other bring back those feelings or has time erased what might have been?

     photo Tru_zps6a9371bd.jpg

     photo Jake_zpsb0a06a05.jpg

After 12 yrs, Trudy is going to interview Jake for her magazine. Will he remember her, will he even recognize her, she is nervous and not sure what to expect..

My eyes meet his, and I see it....the instant recognition. He remembers me.

"Trudy Bennett?" he repeats. "My Trudy Bennett?" His Trudy Bennett?

And seeing Jake, looking like this, I just know that I am so completely and totally fucked. Because I'm now fourteen year old Trudy all over again.

So the story begins and what a story it is. It is a wonderful, beautiful, angsty, frustrating, maddening, heartbreaking, swooning love story. I read this book in one day, I just couldn't put it down and well when you have a hot, gorgeous rock star who has a down and dirty side, who reconnects with the love of his life, could you put that down? This story is about Jake and Tru and their discovery of the love that each had for each other so many years ago and how that love is still present. The one big complication is that Tru has a boyfriend. Gorgeous, loving, stable Will, boyfriend of 2 years, loves Trudy completely and would do anything for her. Then there is Jake, rock star, womanizer, drug addict and the love of her life.....

This story pulls out all your emotions. Tru was frustrating but I understood her reasoning sometimes and other times I wanted to slap her silly. Jake on the other hand stole my heart. He has his demons and works at keeping them at bay, not always successful, but the one thing that grounds him is Tru. His expression of love for her throughout the book had me swooning, sighing and wishing against all hope that my name was Tru.

Some of my favorite and beautiful Jake quotes:
"I love you," he repeats. "I've only ever loved one girl, Tru- and that's you. It's always been you. I loved you from the moment I knew how to love."

"You're it for me. I want to be with you forever. I want you to be mine."

It's a love/hate relationship, baby. I love how they look on you. Hate that they're blocking my access."

When I said you looked well, what I really should have said was that you look beautiful.x

"Johnny Cash...I have a few things in common with him."
    "Like?"
"The drugs...the women...hanging out for the girl of my dreams...you're my June, Tru."

"I'm nothing without you Tru, nothing."

"I'll never be good enough for you, I know that. But I'm no good without you, and if that makes me a selfish bastard for wanting you as badly as I do then so be it because I can't live a life that doesn't have you in it."

     photo a2339db60d948b9d2321114828cabe56_zps3385c535.jpg

I see that Jake is my mighty storm. He's broken and complex, and no one knows him like I do, or ever will. He needs me. He's my storm to calm. And I'm going to spend the rest of my life doing just that.

I must thank my fabulous Pinkies Barb and Jxxx for making me read this book so that I could join them on the BR of Wethering the Storm. I really had no idea what to expect. I was reassured that I would love it and to jump in...and ladies....... I LOVED IT!!!!! You both know me so well♥♥♥

PS- Wethering the Storm is fanfreakingtastic

I will never hear this song without thinking of Jake!
(Literally I saw the Killers on stage at Big Day Out on the 26/01/13 and although I love the band and the song, I still had a flashback to this book!)

    I love you Jake Wethers!

MADRE MIA DE MI VIDAAAAAAA!!! I loved this book!

    ***SPOILERS AHEAD CHICAS***

Yes Jake, I am spanish, I have a funny accent and I can talk in spanish to you ALLL THE TIME, lol... Just saying, just in case this thing with Tru is not working... you know :)

Well, I am gonna try to be serious now... This is my first review with pics (thanks Candace), so I am sooooo excited!!!

I bought this book AGES ago and I want to kill myself for taking sooo long to read it!

First of all, they are Brits, I mean, do I need any other reason to read a book? I am not even gonna answer that. She lives in Camden for fucks sake, one of my favorites place in the UK (well, I love Richmond also but come on! Camden is A.M.A.Z.I.N.G). I have said this a million times but I have been living in the UK for 2 years so I love that country and it is amazing when you read about a place in a book and you imagine the place but it is even more amazing when you have been in that place. The first time I went to London on holidays was in May 2003 and I went to that fucking Pizza Hut in Camden, the one with the stairs!!! OMGGGGGG :)

I am not really into famous people books if you know what I mean, I feel a little bit like Tru about that, I don't think it's easy having a relationship with someone so famous, that's why I didn't read this one earlier but I was wrong!

Tru and Jake have been friends since they were little, they were in love with each other but nothing happened and then Jake leaves the UK to go to America with his mum and they don't see each other in 12 years. After 12 years he is super famous and True is a musical journalist and she has to interview him.
She has a boyfriend, a lovely english man called Will who is soooo in love with her (Will if you read this pls PM your phone number and I will call you the next time I am going to London, I promise).

I like the plot, no scrap that, I LOVE THE PLOT. I know most of the people here are not into cheating and I am not saying I support cheating but sometimes it happens and it is obvious that they have been in love since forever so when Jake offers her to go on tour with them you know something is gonna happen.

So the tour starts... and the unavoidable happens. And I understand Tru, she is in love with him even if she cares for Will. Come one guys, judging her is the easy thing to do.

The last day of the tour Will turns up in the hotel with Simone (I love best friends like her) and the drama starts. Jake wants Tru to tell Will but that is not easy! She cares for Will, she can't say "hey, I have been sleeping with him, laters!"... It is not that easy sooo Jake goes mad, kisses a girl and lots of great things happen. That Mr Brightside moment !!! O.M.G. Joderrrrrrrrrr!!!! This is Jake in that moment:

I think that is my favorite part of the book. I though everything was going to be boring from now on but I was sooooo wrong as the book didn't lose the intensity. I loved every single problem they had and I loved the way they love each other.

And the end of the book, I mean, Jake's POV??? Many thanks for that part, I loved it, I knew he was checking her ass the first time he saw her, I knew it!!! LOL

    ** 4 I ♥ Jake but can't f*cking stand Tru stars **

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

WARNING: for those of you who [like me] couldn't stand Thoughtless/Effortless bullsh*t, beware ... this is almost as bad. I am saying almost because this book doesn't have Keira and that is a HUGE bonus! However, this book DOES have Tru which is, once again, ALMOST as bad but not quite AS bad.

Now that you have been warned ...

If you are in the mood to put up with one of the most neurotic, self-absorbed, egotistical, me-me-me type female heroines since Keira of Thoughtless in order to get a glimpse into a life of uber-hot rock star, go for it! Jake makes up for most of Tru's shortcomings and makes Kellan look like one GIANT pussy that he is! At least Jake has a pair [for most of the book] ...

I wish I knew beforehand that the story was similar to Thoughtless (which I HATED with passion!), I would have approached with caution as in "had a [very stiff] drink" beforehand.

I am glad I decided to give this book a shot though. All in all, this was an entertaining read.

If you love your rock star bad boys & hate women they end up with, this book is for you.

    Cheers!

OK, so I know what you’re all going to say. This book was released about eight months ago so what am I doing only reading it now. Well, you know how it is. There’s always so many good books that you want to read and never enough time to read them all and this is one of those that I managed to miss but I always regretted it, always wanted to go back and read it and, just recently, Jake Wethers was mentioned in passing in another book and I just had to go back and find him again and I’m so glad I did. To think, he’s been waiting patiently on my Kindle for all these months!!

I do love me a troubled, bad boy hero and a troubled bad boy hero is exactly what I found in Jake Wethers. He’s lived the hedonistic life of a mega-famous rock-star – drink, drugs, easy women but he’s never really found true happiness. He’s never forgotten Tru, the girl he grew up with, his next door neighbour and the only girl he has ever loved. They’ve lost touch over the years but fate is about to throw them back together and launch them on an incredible emotional roller-coaster of a journey that held my attention rapt from beginning to end.

Jake is the archetypal rock star – he’s lean, muscular, tattooed and totally gorgeous. Tru is completely mesmerised by his presence – he’s sexy, he’s beautiful and he’s flirting outrageously with her. He’s got a whole heck of a lot of demons in his past that have fuelled his addictions – blissful oblivion being just another line of coke away but he’s trying to clean up his act and, now that Tru is back in his life, he’s got a reason to live again. He’s got a heart of gold and is incredibly generous and sweet despite his bad boy persona but he’s kind of moody, has a real short fuse and how MUCH did I freaking adore him? *melts* He compares himself to Johnny Cash singing Hurt and I positively melted when he tells True that she’s his June.

“Johnny Cash … I have a few things in common with him.”

    “Like?”

“The drugs … the women … hanging out for the girl of my dreams … you’re my June, Tru.”

Tru is a great heroine, very much the regular girl about town we all are. I love it when the girl next door type in a book manages to attract the attention of someone like Jake – he’s pretty much the most famous rock God on the planet and yet he’s got eyes only for Tru. Story lines like this just fill me with hope and make me smile.

I’m so totally mesmerised by him.

And so totally in lust with him.

    And so totally screwed.

Of course, both of them are fairly flawed characters and make several mistakes and they both hurt each other badly during the course of the story but then that’s real life right? We all make mistakes and we all deal with the guilt. Tru has a boyfriend, Will, at the beginning of the story and he gets hurt pretty badly by Tru & Jake, both physically and emotionally and my heart hurt a lot for him. I understand that there was no way around hurting him but I felt very sorry for him.

Most of all though, I think I loved the way that Jake completely adored Tru, how deeply he loved her. He’s never been able to replicate those feelings he had for her all those years ago and the only person that ever came close, drove his car into a ravine leaving Jake in a terrible depression. She’s all he’s ever wanted.

You ask what I want from you?” His eyes move to my lips, then my eyes. “I want you, Tru. I just want you. All day, every day.

    *wibble*

There’s a totally beautiful scene at Lumb Falls in the Yorkshire Dales – this is such a gorgeous part of England.

     photo lumbfalls_zps24fd9973.jpg

So Tru & Jake take us on a breath-taking journey, full of peaks and troughs, highs and lows, incredible happiness and intense misery. It’s a fantastic story and I just could not put this book down. It consumed my thoughts all day when I couldn’t be reading and I was constantly on edge, desperate to get back to it. It’s a real yo-yo romance, they’re happy one minute and hissing at each other like a pair of alley-cats the next. I never knew what was coming next and I was constantly on tenterhooks, just desperate for them to find that happiness they both deserved.

The Mighty Storm was a completely invigorating, mindblowing ride on the Angst Express! I am an angst addict and get really crabby when I don’t read something angsty for awhile. Let’s just say I should be happy for days and days!

The Mighty Storm is my first Samantha Towle experience and it will not be my last. When I read a great, angst filled romance, my heart beats faster and I can feel every little twist and turn in the relationship in my chest. This book had me all in a flutter, a flutter that I haven’t quite felt since I first read some of my favorites like The Opportunist, Thoughtless and Love Unscripted. Angst is like dessert to me; I need it, I crave it, and I love it. This particular book was a delectible chocolate cupcake with cream cheese filling and chocolate ganache on top (the book mentioned French pastries and I can’t get them out of my mind now!).

So get on the Angst Express with me here for a minute; I want to explain exactly what kind of trip you are going to get if you hop on board. At first it is smooth, taking in the view and getting to know the layout. Then, there is an uphill journey that brings you to the top of highest mountain where the view is breathtaking and quite frankly you never want to come down. But what is the old saying? What goes up must come down? The same is true of the Angst Express and it shoots up and down a few times going so fast that your heart is beating out of your chest and you have trouble catching your breath. As the ride continues and comes to as end, you will hope the whole ride was worth the highs and lows, twists and turns. IT.IS.SO.FREAKING.WORTH.IT!

Tru is one of those female characters that will get on some readers nerves, I am not going to lie. She has a great boyfriend who loves and adores her but he isn’t her first love and soulmate. Yes, she loves him but it is not THAT love. Tru is indecisive at times, trying to figure out what she wants and whether or not she should put herself first. She doesn’t always think she is deserving of the good things that come her way and doesn’t always see what others see in her. She is strong even though she is indecisive; she isn’t anyones stepping stone and will stick up for herself if need be. I really actually liked Tru because I would be a hypocrite not to. There are other books where I want the soulmates to be together no matter what and I can’t hold it against Tru that she was dating a great guy when she found her soulmate again. It would be really hard to be in that situation!

Jake is troubled, broken, sexy, sweet and just about everything I love in a male character. Oh, and he is a rockstar! Most of all, I love the way he loves Tru. Yes, he does have a few relationship faults but the poor guy has never been in a relationship so he is learning everything as he begins with Tru. Life with a troubled rockstar isn’t always easy; he has a temper, can be a bit irrational and has some skeletons to work through. He did some things that made me want to shake and curse him but in the end, Jake is extremely hard not to love! He had my heart the moment he took Tru to Pizza Hut:)

Is love enough? That is a question that often went through my head while reading this. Tru and Jake have such a connection that started when they were very young but there are demons in their past that must be overcome. Their love is like my favorite football team; I root for them in good times and bad and I would be a fan no matter what happens. Relationships that start with solid friendships are always my favorite;)

I liked Will, Tru’s boyfriend, and hated that he may get his heart broken in all this but I am thinking that he would be great in a book of his own;) I feel the same way about Tom; he could start my heart on fire if he had a book of his own. I love when books give me so many characters to love and think about for days to come!

The Mighty Storm is an overall FANTASTIC reading experience full of romance, drama, angst, real-life issues and everything in between. I highly recommend to….well everyone!

    **4.5 stars**

Trudy Bennett is a music journalist working for Etiquette magazine and has to interview the lead singer for the hugely successful band, The Mighty Storm. The problem is that she used to be best friends...and secretly in love with the lead singer until they fell out of contact twelve years ago.

I really enjoy the childhood friends turn lovers plot and this did not disappoint. Trudy, aka Tru, is a bit freaked out about Jake which is understandable. He is in a whole other universe and is a known womanizer so she is constantly battling her feelings over the logical thing to do. Plus she has a boyfriend...a really sweet and wonderful boyfriend.

The beginning is pretty slow...and wordy!! I think that's about the only thing that I didn't care for but it does get better. There are also a lot of British terms in the book which may (or may not) be confusing for some American readers.

I did enjoy Tru even with all her inner turmoils! I could really sympathize and I just found it endearing. I do wish she would've handled things with Will a bit differently.

Jake is amazing, of course, but what made him amazing was his faults. He very much goes after what he wants and damn the consequences. He does everything, and I mean everything, to the extreme whether it's good or bad and the bad is heart wrenching. I was surprised about Jake after his Dad died...I really didn't think he would do that.

Tru's best friend and roommate, Simone, is wonderful but I wish we would have gotten more of her. I liked how she was there for Tru and it was great what happened with her.

All the members of the band, security, etc., were great as well. They all have interesting personalities and really add to the story but I love Stuart. He really shined in the story and I would love to get to know more about him.

Poor Will...what happens with him broke my heart. And especially when he met up with Tru later. I really wish there would have been "something" to show things would be better for him.

I LOVED all the drama even with what happened with Will. But I LOVED the part towards the end better. OMG when Tru walked into the bedroom, I about died!! Sooo emotionally heart breaking and I LOVED not knowing how it would end!! I really wasn't sure if they would make it or not.

There are many good smexy parts although not extremely detailed but it is sooo romantic that I didn't really mind. And what is it about these guys being so huge?? Every single book...I kid you not!

The ending was fantastic although a bit clique and you just knew the pink "thing" WOULD happen. Plus we get the first chapter of the book from Jake's POV in Meet Jake. It made me laugh to see how vulnerable he was. Happily, I found out that the author is working on the next book and it will have some more parts with Jake's POV and it will be out in Spring 2013. I just love when they do that!

Here's also a link for a great trailer for the book:

I would definitely recommend it if you like all that emotional drama and childhood friends turned lovers. Just give yourself time to get past the beginning and you won't be disappointed!

Oh and before I forget...don't you love the cover?? ~ Sigh ~

    DNF

It pains ms so much to shelve Miss Towle's book under DNF. I read so many good reviews about Mighty Storm. The story of 2 childhood friends in the storm of rock and roll.

I am shocked to listen only about 8th hours of the audiobook. Everything is just a disaster storm more like it. My biggest problem is with Tru, the heroine. She is so wishy washy about her feeling toward Jake and Will. She feeled guilty for Will but she consented having sex with Jake. She frustrates me so much that I want to bitch slap her.

Jake is also weak hero. He has no back bone at all. He agrees to Tru needy, childish, selfish demands then throws a tantrum when Tru playing hard to get. I can not feel their attraction toward another since the POV is done from Tru.

Those making this book too difficult to read.

Thoroughly enjoyed the music component of this story. What didn't work for me was the infidelity that occurs and I just didn't feel the emotion between Jake and Tru as much as I would have liked to.

All in all it had lots of drama and I would have bumped this up to 4 stars, if the heroine didn't grate on my nerves so much with her indecisiveness.

  • Spoiler Whore Says No To BookTok Recs

This is one of the reasons I love to read. I love to get sucked into a story, love to put myself in a heroine's position, go thru the emotions of said heroine and come out with a HEA. Especially if the hero is from a childhood/teenage crush.

Trudy Bennett is given the opportunity to interview Jake Wethers, lead singer to The Mighty Storm, her former BF and childhood crush. She works as a columnist for a magazine in the UK where she and Jake were once neighbors until he moved to the US. Jake Wethers has come out of rehab after spiraling out of control due to drugs and if you really think about it, the death of his great friend/bandmate Jonny. She is completely nervous about seeing him again after 12 years thinking he might not remember her but in Meet Jake, we know he has never forgotten Tru. After interview he asks her out for dinner for a trip down memory lane.

What I loved about this is how easily they pick up after so many years apart. The reminiscing, flirting and the slight bantering. Tru starts feeling bad because she knows the love for Jake has never really left while she's with her boyfriend Will. The next day when she goes back to work she learns that she's been requested to write Jake's bio. She will have to go on tour with The Mighty Storm in Europe and the US. She takes this opportunity and from this love blossoms, jealousy rears it's head, heartbreak is a given and everything that entails with the lifestyle...drugs, sex and rock-n-roll. And the visuals I got from Jake and his "snake"...Good God Almighty! I love my imagination.

I will say this. There is a part in the book that deals with Jake's addiction to drugs that was an emotional rollercoaster. Very heartbreaking.

    Favorite moments/lines:

The first concert after Jonny's death and the tribute they give him. *tear*

"And that's why I prefer to dance in the bedroom."

"It's always been you, Tru. Always."

    "You look beautiful," he says.
"And you look like an idiot, get up, I say, suppressing the huge smile I feel.

"You. Then, and now. How beautiful you were back then, and how even more beautiful you are now. How I wish I'd seen you through all those years, and how I'm counting myself as one lucky bastard that I got a second chance to have you in my life...and that you're crazy enough to be mine."

At the end of the story there's a part called Meet Jake...Chapter One-The Hotel, where we get his POV. Now with this I would love to get the rest of his POV. Aaaaand hopefully more on Tru and Jake.

So awesome, ridiculously swoony and heaps of emotion.
    I FREAKING LOVED THIS BOOK!

Jake Wethers is a heavily tattooed, uber-hot, Alpha rock God, and I absolutely adored him! Tru is the girl who grew up next to him – childhood best friends, they were each other’s first loves, although Jake’s family moved away before anything could happen between them. When they are reunited 12 years later, the emotional connection is still there, along with an intense chemistry that doesn’t let up the entire book.

Told from Tru’s POV, the story moves at a great pace, and things develop really quickly. Yes, there are the inevitable similarities to Thoughtless, but this book is amazing all on its own. What I loved about this relationship is that Jake and Tru actually deal with what’s going on between them. The issue of ‘the other guy’ is dealt with fairly quickly and through it all they are honest with each other. Yes, there are moments of stupid but it doesn’t last too long.

The thing that stands out for me in this story is the way I felt while reading it. The emotional scenes in this book are amazing! I was buddy reading, and at a particularly intense moment around halfway through, the number of emails flying back and forth with the word “FUUUUUUCK” in them was downright ridiculous! My heart was pounding – I was shocked, I wanted to cheer, I wanted to swoon. At other times my heart broke - for Will, for Tru, and for Jake - and I’d find myself in floods of tears, only to be grinning like an idiot and hugging my kindle a few pages later. It was an intense rollercoaster, and I loved every minute of it!

Although there are some serious issues dealt with in the story (fidelity, death, addiction, and dealing with the celebrity lifestyle), it’s not all heavy. It’s primarily a romance, and there are lots of gorgeously sweet moments (Jake is such a romantic!), as well as heaps of swoon. There were also lots of funny scenes – particularly with Jake’s bandmates. Their banter was crude but hilarious, and I loved the close relationship that they obviously shared.

Read this book if you want an incredibly emotional, beautifully romantic (and somewhat steamy) story. The only negative thing I have to say is that I thought the ending was too abrupt, I wanted more - although rumour has it there will be a sequel. Squeeee!! Must.have.more!!!

Oh, and a quick shout out to the little extra at the end of the book - the reunion scene from Jake's POV. It was HILARIOUS getting inside of his head, and really gave us a good idea of what he was feeling, and how quickly and how deeply he felt it. Great little addition to the story!

I liked but not loved this book. As a way to pass the time on a still too hot to play tennis like I wanted to Sunday, it wasn’t half bad. I guess my issues with this one stem mostly from the fact that it was a “tell not show” kind of read and I was hoping for something else based on the reviews of this book. He looked at her intensely. She wanted him with an intensity like she’d never felt. She looked into his eyes and saw (you guessed it) intense lust. I get it…their feelings are all kinds of intense and various other adjectives of the sort, but the problem for me is that there’s only one real love scene and I wouldn’t describe it as strong as it needed to be for the type of feelings these two were supposedly carrying around during their 12 year separation. Pretty standard stuff, actually, for a super hot rock star and the only lady he’s ever loved. Everything else was alluded to. Don’t get me wrong, I’m not saying I need every book to be a constant sex fest. Far from it. Sometimes Tru’s love for Will came across as stronger than the love she felt for Jake. Since I wasn’t feeling WHY these two were soul mates or why Jake was as possessive from the get go as he was, I guess I just needed a little something extra to show me. Other than a nighttime trip to one of their favorite childhood hangouts and a super classy Paris date there wasn’t much else. Their issues resolve themselves way too easily by the end and I felt this entire book just could’ve been more.
