Fix You
I absolutely loved this book!
Don't really feel like writing a long review, here are just some things you need to know:
1. You need to read this book
2. The story is about best friends who've been in love with each other for a long time
3. The heroine discovers she has cancer and it's the thing that brings them together
4. There are flashbacks to their history throughout the book (not that many but they're there)
5. This will make you happy and sad at the same time
6. There is a beautiful happy ending
7. THE SEX IS VERY HOT MWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH
8. This is a pretty short and quick read :)
9. You just need to read this book!!!!!!!!!!!! -
Re-read. I enjoyed this book first time I read it but I liked it even more the second time around. Such a heartbreakingly good story.
Solid 4 stars
Fix You is a well written, emotional, heartwarming yet heartbreaking novella that had the perfect blend of real-life issues, good romance, and heart-and-soul. It's a bona fide friends-to-lovers storyline with some of the typical and annoying plot scenarios. Though I thoroughly loved and enjoyed the relationship between Rob and Zoey–these two characters had a longstanding and profound history together and truly loved each other–I didn't fully buy into how long it took them to fully embrace and act upon their feelings. If they had been in their mid-twenties rather than their mid-thirties, and didn't have such a longstanding and deeply embedded history, it would have been more believable to me personally.
Having said that, what I loved most about this book was the relationship and interactions between Rob and Zoey during her bout with cancer. Oh my goodness! How it touched my heart, brought tears to my eyes, and made me a believer in true love and all that it encompasses.
Overall, I really enjoyed reading this emotional, captivating, and compelling novella. It left a deep impression and had me reevaluating what's truly important in life. That alone made this book more than a worthwhile read and I highly recommend it. -
Wow!!! What to say!!! I am on a book high!! This book was wonderful. I devoured it in one sitting and couldn't get enough of the words that followed on each of the pages. I was concerned with the content of this book that there wouldn't be a hea however there was and it was a good one. Although this book was short it didn't feel rushed at all. It was well written and the story flowed seamlessly. A must read!!!!

*spoiler free review*
“My rock star,” she whispered.
“I like the sound of that.”
“I call you a rock star all the time.”
He kissed her hand. “Not that part, silly. I like the idea of being yours. Finally.”
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
It starts with second chances....
Sitting in a living room surrounded by her girlfriends, talking about second chances and going after what you want, Zoey acknowledges something to herself...something she'd been avoiding for years now...
So, when her friends ask her about her second chance, she jokingly tells them...
“My goal is to get healthy. I’m going to make a doctor’s appointment a month until I’ve gotten the all-clear on my teeth, eyes, boobs, and hoohah.”
While her true second chance whispers inside her head...I’m going to tell my best friend I’m in love with him.
But it's not a six word love story which ends here....
Twenty-five years earlier
We were both young
When I first saw you
I close my eyes
And the flashback starts
I'm sitting there
On the front porch
In summer air...
Sitting on the front porch of her new house, Zoey is feeling lost, lonely and bored. Her new neighbourhood is filled with boys and they don't want a girl playing with them....but then a boy comes running down the street, apparently late for the games, but then he stops when he sees her sitting all alone looking so forlorn. Hope blossoms in Zoey's heart...maybe...just maybe he was not like the other boys and might want to play with her. He comes forward and...
“I’m Robbie Granger. I live across the street, three houses down that way.”
He leaves the boys to play with her and teaches her basketball when it becomes obvious she'd never played the game in her life and when the other boys tease him about playing with a girl he simply shrugs off the taunts, not rising to the bait. And that's when Zoey decides that he was the coolest person she'd ever met.
Later that day...
“Robbie. Will you promise me something?”
He looked over at her. “Promise you what?”
“Will you promise to be my friend when school starts? You’re the only person I know here in my grade.”
He grinned. “I’m already your friend, silly.”
Zoey’s whole body filled with joy.
She loves you, yeah, yeah, yeah
She loves you, yeah, yeah, yeah
And with a love like that
You know you should be glad
And now....25 years later...she picks up the phone to tell him that she needs him...because things are going horribly wrong...but...
Robbie was living his dream.
His band, Express Train, was opening for The Traffic, one of the biggest rock bands in the country. She’d been selfish to call.
“I just wanted to say—” She paused, her mind filling in the real words: I have cancer.
She cleared her throat. “I wanted to say break a leg.”

“Fucking, Jesus. God, Zoey. You kill me, baby. So fucking hot.”
So, how have I not read anything by this author before?
For a fairly short book, Mari Carr wove a story I was able to connect with and become totally invested in both the MC’s. This was a spectacular friends to lovers story about Zoey and Robbie.
They met when they were ten and became best friends and stayed so until their mid 30’s when a life altering situation occurred that set them up for a more than friends relationship.
I loved the flashbacks to their childhood; it added so much to their story and let the reader see just how deeply Zoey and Rob felt for each other.
“Promise me our plans aren’t lies, aren’t just silly dreams that kids make up rather than face that things are changing. I don’t want to lose you.”
The story of their present day relationship was so touching; especially through the bout with cancer and Robbie’s rock star career decisions.
"A few months with Robbie is better than a lifetime with anyone else."
”The secondary characters “wine girls” were fun and supportive and I can see future books in this series with them as the main characters.
"I'm going to tell my best friend I'm in love with him."
Loved the steam level in this book... yep!
And... singing
Fix You by Cold Play at the end... Sweet!
Good, good book... go read it! -
Have you ever fallen in love with your best friend?
Zoey and Robbie have been best friends for twenty five years.............
Zoey has been in love with Robbie for twenty five years, she's just never been able to tell him. Just when she finds the courage to tell Robbie how she feels, she discovers she has cancer and her whole world falls apart.
"When you try your best but you don't succeed. When you get what you want, but not what you need
When you feel so tired, but you can't sleep. Stuck in reverse."
Robbie and Zoey have been friends for twenty five years.......
Robbie has been in love with Zoey for twenty five years, he just only realises it when he hears the dreaded words; cancer.
So Zoey turns to the person she feels closest to, to the person she has loved nearly all her life, the person whose been there for her no matter what. She turns to her Robbie.
"And the tears come streaming down your face.
When you lose something you can't replace. When you love someone, but it goes to waste. Could it be worse?"
This is the emotional and quite simply beautiful love story of two friends who can't bear to lose each other. It shows you their journey from childhood friendship to their adult relationship and all the pivotal moments in between. It's a tender love story showing Robbie's unwavering support for his best friend at a time she needs him most.
This is a beautifully written novella which switches from present to past allowing us an insight into Zoey and Robbie's developing friendship. Through this the reader is able to experience their hopes and dreams and the promises they make to each other over the years.
It is a story that moved me to tears one moment and gave me a beaming smile the next. It's a story about friendship, love and most of all second chances.

Oh my. I had just finished reading a couple of very short stories that were so powerful I was almost scared to try and read something else, thinking that nothing would be able to satisfy me.
I WAS VERY,VERY WRONG. THIS BOOK WAS AMAZING.
Yes, I had to shout. I will never forget this story. It may be because I have been in the same place as Zoey, but I don't think that is it.
I have a made me cry shelf, but it doesn't tell you if it was happy tears or sad tears. I should fix that, but this book made me do both.
A story about a woman fighting cancer should have been a bit depressing, but this book wasn't. It was emotional, but so uplifting and heart warming.
The story is about Zoey and her fight against this horrid disease, but it is also about learning about living for today. To stop looking at the past hurts in your life, and to focus on today.
Zoey has been friends with Robbie forever. He has always been around, but nothing more then friendship has ever occurred. Neither of them have made a move to make a move to deepen the feelings that they have for the other, not realising that they have both been in love with each other for years.
When Zoey finds out about her health, the only person she wants is Robbie, so she calls him just to hear his voice. As he is on the brink of making it in his music career, she doesn't want anything to stand in his way, including her.
Robbie, knowing Zoey so well, knows something is wrong when he talks to Zoey, so the second his concert is over he goes home to check on her. That is the beginning of a story that I couldn't put down.
Zoey had a group of girlfriends who made me laugh, and I loved how they were supportive without being annoying. The only thing I would have liked was a bit more of Robbies present, we didn't learn much about his recent life and I think this story was as much his as Zoey's, but that was a tiny problem for me, and wouldn't make me take any stars away.
All I can say is, if you have not read this book, don't wait. It is beautiful. Read it now. -
Loved this one. Usually a fan of "friends to lovers" books and this was one of them. It was a compelling read. The Hero and Heroine were great - strong characters who met when they were in 4th grade and had remained friends over the years. Must check out some more books by this talented author.

This may be a short read, but let me just say that what it lacks in length it more than makes up for in content. The fact that this is a novella does not impact one bit on the depth and emotional pull of this story.
I love Mari Carr's stories and once she again she has given me a story and characters that have captured my heart. This is a beautifully written book with characters that are so real and the writing so wonderful that you actually feel the struggle that Zoey is going through.
When Zoey found out she had Breast Cancer my heart sunk. I really and truly felt every word, living Zoey's utter devastation and confusion with her and she touched me deeply.
When she cried, I cried. When she got angry, I got angry for her and my heart soared when during the moving and intimate scenes with her and Robbie. Zoey was so brave and so totally believable in her emotions that I felt I knew her and I was absolutely championing for her, and eagerly following her relationship with Robbie throughout the whole book.
In Fix You we meet Zoey who has secretly been in love with her best friend Robbie since they were ten years old. They share a past and a bond that is so special and so unique that nothing could break it. They've had their ups and downs but have been there for one another through everything life has thrown at them but neither has been able to share their deeper feelings for one another.
While Robbie is away living his dream of becoming a rock star, Zoey catches up with her "wine girls" and it is during one of their get together's that they discuss their second chances and what they were going to do to ensure they don't spend nights sitting at home instead of being out enjoying life.
Zoey would love to be able to tell Robbie how she feels but doesn't feel this will ever become a reality.
I have say I loved the Wine Girls, they were all great friends and a great support system to one another. I sense they all have stories to tell and I'm looking forward to meeting them in future books.
Zoey decides to get a routine check- up and is told a lump had been found in her breast. The worst case scenario becomes a reality when it is discovered Zoey has breast cancer. Zoey calls her best friend Robbie before he is due to go onstage but isn't able to be tell him her news and decides she will deal with it on her own.
Sensing all isn't well, Robbie comes straight home to Zoey and finds her alone, crying and obviously devastated. She blurts out that she has cancer and I have to tell you this scene just destroyed me. It was so beautiful, so emotional and spoke volumes about the strength of character and the uniquely beautiful bond these two wonderful characters shared.
I didn't just read that scene. I was with them. I felt like I experienced every word Zoey and Robbie spoke to each other and this absolutely moved me to tears. I wanted to jump through the pages and comfort them both. I experienced that moment through their eyes and it was heartbreaking.
The story switches from present to past showing us through flashbacks, the development of their friendship and allows us to witness first hand the start of their relationship and how it flourished over 25 years.
We experience their hopes and dreams as children, teenagers and adults. We witness the promises they made to each other. Promises they have kept to this day. This switching in time really did allow me to see the depth of these characters, the growth of Zoey and Robbie, and how they arrived at this point in their lives and it was all handled beautifully.
Josie: “Promise me our plans aren’t lies, aren’t just silly dreams that kids make up rather than face that things are changing. I don’t want to lose you.”
The passion between these two was electric! The sex scenes were so steamy and hot and these two really connected on so many levels both physically and emotionally. You feel deeply for these two because their relationship and the situation they are in feels so real.
It is through her treatment that we are shown the strength of Zoey and Robbie. Witnessing their struggles was truly heartbreaking but they deal with it as a solid unit, with warmth, humor, love and passion. You wish, with every breath, that these two enjoy happiness together because boy, do they deserve it.
The scene where Robbie sings Fix You to Zoey had me sobbing and really did sum them up so well.
“As you all know,we usually don’t cover other band’s songs, but tonight,I talked the guys into backing me up as we perform an awesome song from Coldplay.” Robbie’s gaze searched the room until he found her. “It’s called ‘Fix You’ and I’d like to dedicate it to Zoey"
This is a beautifully written story about struggle, love and second chances. It certainly makes you look at life and reassess what is important. A great message and a truly wonderful read.

I’m loving the concept of this series! The ‘wine girls’, a fantastic group of women who live in the same apartment complex, and get together weekly to drink wine and talk about anything and everything. First up – Zoey.
I loved Zoey and Rob. Best friends since childhood, and roommates for 14 years, Zoey has secretly loved him since she was a teenager. They have always been there for each other and when, after a late night phone call, Rob senses that Zoey needs him, he doesn’t hesitate to jump on a plane to be by her side (see – you’ve gotta love him!). But it’s the tragedy of her cancer diagnosis that serves as the trigger for Rob to realise that he is in love with her.
“You’re finally there, Robbie. On stage in front of huge audiences. All of your hard work has paid off. It’s your time.”
He didn’t want any of that. As he looked at Zoey, the priorities he’d always set for himself fell away, leaving just one. One thing that mattered to him.
Her.
I was surprised at how quickly the story moved. Zoey and Rob got together (steamy!!!) really early on in the book - but I liked that. It wasn’t a story about two people finding their way to each other, it was a story about two people already very much in love and trying to start a life together while dealing with a devastating reality of a life-threatening illness, as well as other life changes.
This was a really short read, and I’m impressed at the amount of emotion Carr was able to put into so few pages. I was in tears within half an hour of starting! And, having watched a family member live with cancer and endure the horrific treatments, I thought it was an accurate yet beautiful representation of living through that experience, I was right there with Zoey and Rob the whole time.
But it’s not all depressing! There is lots of swoon, lots of steaminess and some really funny moments. All interspersed with flashbacks to their childhood, showing just how much they have been there for each other through the years. And through it all, you see how deeply Zoey and Rob love each other and how perfect they are for each other. Their relationship is oh-so-functional. Yes, they have issues to deal with, but they work through it and they move forward.
“Promise you’ll never let go of my hand?”
He kissed her. It was the easiest vow he’d ever made. “Promise.”
This was a really sweet read, with a sensationally swoony epilogue to finish off. I’ll definitely be picking up the next books in the series.
3.5 stars -
Really loved this story.. it was not long but it packed a powerful punch.. There was so much crammed into this story but every bit of it worked.. Rob and Zoey--Best friends for years and even living together, they never made any moves that both of them were secrectly feeling the need to move on . Rob is in a band and travels a lot.. He's on the road when he gets a call from Zoey.. something in her voice sends him home to her without second thought, leaving his band on the road. What he finds out whats wrong with Zoey, both of their lives are changed forever..
This story was so sweet.. Rob was absolutly wonderful and I loved that they didnt beat around the bush once they both realized quickly how short life can be..
Let me say, on a side note... as sweet as this story was.. THIS WAS SOME OF THE HOTTEST SEX EVER.. NO KIDDING. SCORCHING SHEET BURNING PANTY EXPLODING SEX. VERY VERY HOT. DID I SAY HOT? YEA.. H-A-W-T. THATS HOT IN SOUTHERN GIRL TWANG..
This was a good easy read.. even though there was a serious undertone.. it still managed to be sexy and fun.. and of course you get your HEA.
Bravo! -
This book did not drag. There really was no "oh, I can't tell him I have cancer" until the very end. I hate those stories that drag the main point in the book until the very end.
I am not giving away a spoiler by telling you that the main female character, Zoey, finds out she has cancer and tells her best friend of 25 years, Robbie. This is their "journey" as they recall their childhood friendship and advance their adult friendship from friends to lovers. And I do mean advance by having hot steamy sex. The steam deserves a 5 star rating on its own. However,it is more than sex. I felt it was a way for them to communicate and connect all their feelings of 25 years. Sometimes it takes something tragic to happen before we can open up and see what we have right in front of us. We just have to hope it is not too late.
The writing flowed. The conversations did not seem forced. There was a nice pace to the story. I recommend.

FIX YOU is a short yet sweet novella ,that revolves around Zoey and her childhood best friend 'ROB' and how CANCER kind of brings them together.
after staying the best of friends for over 20 years ,zoey finally takes up a new year's resolution to tell rob , tht he's her secreat crush. And she does, well just after she tells hims she's got cancer as well..
This whole book was kinna a short and sweet read, with not much of angst, erotica or ____(insert genre of your choice here.)
its just basically an insight into a cancer patient's day-to-day life in its discovery stage ,when there actually a chance to kick it to the curb.
the male lead was sweet and supportive and so were all the other secondary characters and the plot was good enough for a 3 star...but the narration ? i wasnt overally comfortable with it and i felt like a LOT of scenes were either unnecessary or missing.
RECOMMENDATION: all in all ,dont really recommend it to both angst or romance readers(,but if ur searching for a lite read with 10% erotica, then pick this...and if u don't well ur not missing much anyway. ) -
What an absolutely AMAZING book. I went into this book thinking it would be kind of depressing being that the main focus is about cancer. What I didn't expect was to be left in awe from this book. Robbie and Zoey's relationship was wonderful. They started as friends and eventually gave into their true feelings of love. This book tackles a very tough subject like breasted cancer but it also shows you that just because you are diagnosed with cancer it doesn't mean its the end. The love and friends that Zoey had around her were phenominal. I really enjoyed how the author incorporated flashbacks into each chapter that corresponded to the current situation that was happening between Robbie and Zoey. It was great to see how their friendship blossomed over the expanse of 25 years. Now eventhough this is a wonderful love story it is a story of the struggles one goes through while given the diagnosis of cancer. I liked how I truly felt Zoey fears and concerns. On a lighter note...I was also blown away by the amazing sex scenes. Talk about steamy;)
I would definitely recommend this book to everyone. It is a MUST READ!!!!! -
*sigh*
Dear friends, this is what happened...
It's a story about Robbie and Zoey. About twenty five years of friendship. About love. Fear. Happiness. Life. About (most wonderful) second chances. About all the ways there are to fix each other. And promises. A lot of promises.
"Will you promise to be my friend when school starts?"
"Promise you won’t let me fail Algebra."
"Promise you’ll tell me if I have food in my teeth."
"Promise when you’re a famous musician, you’ll write a song for me."
"Promise you’ll always be my friend, no matter where we go or who we grow up to be."
“Life moves fast, things change. Sometimes I think our only job on this planet is to hold on so we don’t get thrown off the ride.”
For such a short read, it's packed with emotions, sex, memories, dreams, tears, laughter, joy...
I only wish it were longer. I wanted to stay there, in the world of Zoey and Robbie, play those songs and smile.
Fix You is such a wonderful, wonderful surprise.
Read it, you guys! -
Best friends since they were ten and now twenty five years later they are flatmates, Zoey and Robbie would do anything for each other. However, on a wine fogged New Years Eve Zoey makes a resolution to tell Robbie that she loves him as more than just her friend. But her plans are ruined when she finds a lump on her breast and is diagnosed with cancer. Robbie's band are about to hit stardom, but when he hears Zoey's strained voice over the phone he knows something is wrong and hurries back home to her. When he sees her he realizes that he doesn't want fame and fortune in his future he wants her, but there are many trials and tribulations ahead, can they survive as a couple or will this ruin their friendship forever?
This is my first Mari Carr book but it definitely won't be my last! For such a short book Fix You really packed a punch; as you would expect with a heroine who has breast cancer there were highs and lows which offered an emotional roller coaster of a book and I loved the ride.
However, this wasn't an in depth look in to what living with breast cancer is like, at its heart Fix You is a tender love story with a sexy edge between Robbie and Zoey. It shows you their journey from childhood friendship to their adult relationship and all the pivotal moments in between and I loved that it went back in time to show the key moments in their friendship throughout the past twenty five years it added a layer of depth to their relationship as you see their history together. And Zoey and Robbie were such a great couple, I don't understand why it took them so long to get together! Robbie was sweet and supportive with a hidden kinky side; the sex in this book was smokin' hot! And Zoey was tough and brave, together they made a cute pair.
I am definitely reading the next in this series and looking for some more Mari Carr in the meantime! Fix You was short, but sweet. -
Classic Mari Carr. This was a truly heartwarming story of lifelong best friends who finally acknowledge that they are more then just friends. Loved every word. I'm always amazed (though I shouldn't be anymore) at how much emotion Ms. Carr can pack into such a short book. I loved Zoey - she was such a great character - so real and Robbie - wow, talk about the perfect guy.
Pick this one up - you won't be sorry! -
4.5 stars
Fix You is the perfect combination of:
1. Romance
2. Steam
3. Humor
4. Friendships
5. Over coming a sensitive subject matter/and the ups and downs of it
I especially loved the friendships of the Wine Girls. They provide Robbie and Zoey with their love, strength and support sprinkled in with some humor. I love when the Wine Girls come up with their resolutions for the New Year but call them Second Chances. Robbie is a loving, sweet, funny BFF/BF. He always knew perfectly what to do to help Zoey. I loved when he would sing songs to her as well. My other favorite part would be the The Childhood Flashbacks. We get a glimpse of Zoey and Robbie's life growing up together. The Battle of the Bathroom is another favorite for me as its a theme through out the book.
The author did a spectacular job with this book. It was a book that sucked me in, kept me interested from start to finish and was a quick/easy read. Even with the subject matter it didn't suck up the characters or myself or have anyone wallowing in it. For once I. DID. NOT. CRY. This is a big feat. :) I hope to see more antics from the Wine Girls. -
Good. With all the warnings that this was a read with a Kleenex box because it dealt with the cancer issue I'll admit I was leery. Happy to say no need for that tissue box as no tears were shed. Thought the story was upbeat, positive and realistic given the subject matter in the brief way it was discussed. Sweet romance and that Rob's a keeper. Not only was he a wonderful friend he was sweet, oh so sexy while being incredibly kind, thoughtful and supportive of Zoey. The guy is hands down the poster boy for supportive. This is a pretty compact story touching on highlights of their friendship together from the past along with their friends to lover’s relationship in the present. Never fear, a wonderful HEA with a clear road ahead for Rob and Zoey’s future. Guessing Zoey’s friends, the “wine girls”, are the ones up next to get their shot at a second chance again. Hope so; look forward to reading about them.

Loved this book! What a perfect ending.
Kept me wet eyes, made me fall in love and made me believe that people stay though the good and the bad, the rocky and the plain! :D
I love it when characters talk about their hoohaas and dicks as a third person! LOL
I loved how the story at times would go in a flash back talking about their pervious years as best friends though school and stuff!
I think each of the ladies will get their own book :D
Can't wait for Shelly's book! :D
& Josie's HOWL book! LOL -
It is so refreshing to find a book that deals with the topic of illness in such a way, acknowledging that romance is possible at such a time, but still tackling the serious issues of dealing with mortality. Despite the potential to be a heartbreaking read, it really was inspiring and uplifting (thanks to Blacky's review that encouraged me to read when my natural instinct may have been to avoid!)

Why did I wait so long to read this one? Why did I wait so long to read this author? Who knows...
I was trolling through my back TBR pile and found this little gem. I have to be in just the right mood sometimes and maybe that's why I waited so long. This book brought back so many painful memories of watching a loved one struggle with cancer. She captured the horror so many of the many of the milestones that occur fighting this disease. I wish my sister had had a Rob. She only had me.
I loved everything about this book. The only issue I had is that is was too short. I would have loved to have had more Rob and Zoey. These were lovely people, a lovely couple. I can't wait for the next in this series. I hope it is half as good as this one.
I'm off to read others by this author. Doing some airport time in the next few days and Mari and I will become bosom buds!
Happy Reading! -
Short and sweet and packs one hell of a punch!
Any book dealing with cancer is a bit hard to read. As a breast cancer survivor myself, my heart goes out to those who have suffered and those who continue to suffer from this bullsh!t disease.
I think the author handled this issue sensitively and beautifully.
I really liked the friendship between Rob and Zoey. It was what friendships are made of and all of his promises were extra sweet. Their transition into an intimate relationship seemed natural, especially based on the history that was given.
This book was short but was in no way lacking meat.

“Whatever it is, it’ll be okay. We’ll fix it.”
This book was full of friendship, love and promises. You will cry- happy tears, sad tears, you have been warned!
Everything changes now.
It’s New Years Eve... Zoey is with her ‘wine girls’. They all decide to make resolutions. Zoey’s is easy: I’m going to tell my best friend I’m in love with him.
Robbie is on tour, something he has worked on and strived for since his high school days. He gets a call from Zoey, his childhood best friend, before he is about to go on stage. He knows something is up so after the gig, he hops on a plane and goes to her.
You’re finally there, Robbie. On stage in front of huge audiences. All your hard work has paid off. It’s your time. He didn’t want any of that. As he looked at Zoey, the priorities he’d always set for himself fell away, leaving just one. One thing that mattered to him. Her.
When Robbie gets to Zoey, he finds out her big news. She is sick. They cling to each other, both realizing they love each other much more than friends and always have. Robbie is there with Zoey through it all. Loved Robbie so much! He must be the sweetest man on the planet . Zoey was strong and courageous. Their story was moving. I have never been so happy to have two characters get their HEA.
“Life moves fast, things change. Sometimes I think our only job on this planet is to hold on so we don’t get thrown off the ride.”
“Hold on, what happens when you’re too tired to do that?”
“You let someone else help.”
Short read, but all the important things were covered. Loved the flashbacks in the past. The writing was impressive, the story was heartwarming and heartbreaking. It also had its steamy moments.
“Promise you’ll never let go of my hand?” It was the easiest vow he’d ever made. “Promise.”
Bit of a tearjerker, but a really good read. Now everytime I hear ‘Fix You’ by Cold Play, I will think of Zoey and Robbie.

WILL YOU MARRY ME ROBBIE GRANGER?
-BUT I DID FALL IN LOVE WITH YOU THAT DAY IN THE PARK, UNDER THE TREES WHEN YOU KISSED ME.
-THAT WASN'T EVEN A REAL KISS. JUST AND EXPERIMENT.
-IT FELT REAL TO ME. YOU'VE ALWAYS BELIEVED IN ME, ZOEY.EVEN WHEN I COULDN'T BELIEVE IN MYSELF. I'M THE MAN I AM TODAY BECAUSE OF YOU.
Hopefully my husband doesn't mind I just asked a book boyfriend to marry me.***cringe***haha.
Before I read this book I had read two Kristen Ashley's book.If you have read those you will understand all the fanning thats involved. Though FIX YOU did not lack my fanning hand. However, I was looking for something different. I knew there would be tears, but I was not prepared.Robbie and Zoey have been friends since they were kids. They are in each others lives for many if not all the huge milestones in a persons life. So when Zoey gets diagnosed with cancer its only natural that Robbie is there to hold her hand. Robbie was a change of scenery, well not completely because he was a musician.(Those that know me know I am true book band groupie. I love me some men in bands.) Robbie was not a controlling alpha male. Quite actually the opposite. Robbie puts his life on hold to take care of Zoey. He stands by her through the whole process and as they tackle cancer they both look back on their friendship. How did they miss what was always there? I do not know.
Doesn't matter because FIX YOU takes you back in time to show you where Zoey's and Robbies love first blossoms. This was my favorite part of the book, going back in time. I really could picture Robbie and Zoey at there first dance, the awkwardness, the innocence, and always the friendship. This book really was about true friendship. True friendship that is so strong that even when faced with the deadliest of situations it becomes stronger. -
4.25*
I decided to go ' back to my roots' and read this story.
I was a bit reluctant with the cancer storyline, but with all the rave reviews I was hopeful and looking forward to finding out about Zoey and Robbie.
Zoey and Robbie have been best friends and each others rock since they first met in 4th grade.
Now two decades later they are still the best and closest of friends and roommates. They have seen each other through adolescence , breakups, jobs and dreams.
Robbie has finally realized his dream and is on his way with his band for the big breakthrough.
Zoey and her group of girlfriends meet ever Thursday for talk and wine, this year it happens to fall on New Years Eve and they are all discussing what they want for themselves for the next year, Zoey wants two things, to finally tell Robbie how she feels about him and to get all her check-ups. The latter actually discover breast cancer and her world is turned upside down. But wow, Robbie really steps up to the plate, he is there every step of the way and getting a diagnosis like that makes them both finally decide to change their relationship from platonic to sexual.
It's a rough year, and the story is told from each POV and with alternating present and flashbacks, which gives a wonderful complete picture of their lives with each other and I'm really surprised it took them that long to finally get it together. Robbie sometimes feels almost too good to be true and Zoey is exceedingly brave and tough, but I enjoyed watching them fight and beat this insidious and evil disease.
The cancer treatment and the roller coaster feelings Zoey and Robbie go through are well portrait and no gratuitous angst or tear-jerker is pulled.
It's just a love story, plain and simple. Love through sickness and in health , in good times and in bad times.
Zoey's 'Wine Lady' friends all have stories to tell and I'm sure they will each get their books and I'm probably even going to read them. -
How could this book not touch your heart....
Her tears were quieter now, but he knew she still shed them even though he couldn't see the face she'd buried against his face. The only noise in the room was her quiet sniffers, but soon that sound was replace by her soft, even breathing. She' finally fallen asleep. It was only then that Rob allowed his own tears to fall"
I really enjoyed this book. It had the romance which is always nice, but it dealt with a series issue as well, a scary disease...Cancer. Zoey finds out she has breast cancer and she realizes all she wants and needs right now is her best friend Robbie. Robbie decides to head home after receiving a strange phone call from Zoey. When Robbie sees Zoey he immediately knows something is wrong and he finds out she has breast cancer. Both Zoey's and Robbie's life will change forever in more ways then one...
This book brings out so many emotions so just be prepared and have those tissues handy. This book will show you how two people deal with this horrible disease and how they fight it together.
