Fantasy becomes reality if you carry the mark...

Chloe Bryant doesn’t know what to expect when she enters The Wolf’s Den. Drawn to the werewolf tattoo parlor for reasons she can’t explain, she soon discovers the sexy man from her dreams isn’t a figment of her imagination. Not only is Jackson Donovan real, but he explains the dreams they shared are due to their destined mating. It can’t be possible. She’s not a werewolf. Even if he swears the mark on her wrist indicates otherwise.

Jackson is stunned to discover the beautiful minx from his dreams isn’t a full-blooded werewolf but a Halfling. The only way to uncover Chloe’s past is to stake a claim to her future. By taking the delectable female into his bed, he’ll unlock every secret she has to hide -- as well as awaken the passion she’s tucked away for too long -- by exploring her mind, body and soul one sweet inch at a time.

Ok, since Vampire Mine isn't going to release anytime soon, and I needed my Aline Hunter fix. Marked is set in a remarkably similar verse as her other series; but there's something to be said about the author if her books doesn't seem formulaic or stale.

    So....
    All aboard the Jackson express.

Chloe Bryant knows something is not quite right. The birth-mark on her wrist has started to itch and burn with no reason whatsoever, and night upon night, she's been having rather explicit dreams of a stranger. Peeved by her grandparents' disapproving glances, she makes an appointment at the Wolf's Den, a tattoo parlour to cover the damned thing up for once and for all. On meeting the tattooist, Jackson Donovan, she is shocked to discover he is the man haunting her dreams.

Jackson knows her to be his mate, the moment he lays his eyes on her. What he hasn't banked on, is that Chloe is a halfling- half-human and half-were and completely clueless about her lineage. He longs to court her gently and introduce her to his world gradually, but all that's happening around him throws a clinch in his plans. For one, it was possible she wouldn't be able to shift, a disastrous situation if his pack had to accept her. And, he has a pretty good idea who her were father is, and if he is right- he is not one to be trifled with.

Jackson and Chloe's first meeting= spontaneous combustion. Clueless half-human or not, Chloe knows what she wants and she doesn't waste a breath second-guessing herself. In the strictly hierarchical world of the pack, she stands her mate (and alpha) down.

“Don’t give me that crap. I am not something you can command at will. Stop handling me with kiddie gloves. I don’t like bull, so stop trying to sell me shit.”
Jackson’s jaw clenched but he remained silent.
“Oh man,” Declan laughed. “I knew I liked her.”

She chafes at the dominance, but acknowledges the reason behind them. But despite all that, she is fuckin' fierce in her possessiveness.

Jackson was hers. She’d fight for him. Bleed for him. Die for him.

Ofcourse, no Aline Hunter book is going to be complete without some heartmeltingly tender lines-
“To hell with other women. The only female I’m concerned about is right here in my arms.”

“I’ve found my female.” His gaze swept over her. The grin that appeared on his face created butterflies in her tummy. “I’ll have no other.”

In short, the premise is super-cliched, but SO. MUCH. FUN. Go read! XD

umm... many of you, especially dear sis, will kill me once you all know I skipped through half of the book. it was boring, sadly :(

A very quick read. You will find that you will not care for any of the characters. There is little to no character development. There are four perspectives that you will read from. Chloe and Jackson being the main focus and then Rachel and Declan being set up for the sequel, I believe. The problem is that both Rachel and Chloe's stories are relatively the same.
Chloe is supposedly going against her nature with how things go down with Jackson--but, that's hearsay, because her current behaviour is all you ever know in this book. You don't meet the 'before Chloe'. Now, Rachel, on the other hand; the way she responded to Declan is how I expected Chloe to respond to Jackson. And quite honestly, I would have enjoyed Rachel's story better. She just seemed like an edgier version of Chloe.
Chloe was boring. The only things I liked about her, were when her wolf was involved. Chloe as Chloe was just not what I like in a character. Now, I couldn't tell the difference between Jackson and Declan. They read as the same character. Not good. Again, boring.
There were also a lot of typos in this book.
As for Chloe's back story...a 22 year old not only living with her grandparents, but ultimately answering to them like a 15 year old? That put me off a lot. I couldn't picture her as an adult so I was deeply disturbed by the graphic sexual nature of this book.
As for the sex. That was the only thing that had anything working for it in this. It wasn't just missionary. Hell, it wasn't even just vaginal. My only gripe was the use of 'sex' in place of 'vagina'. Now, normally I would be all over that, because it comes across as prudish--which let's get this straight: you have no business writing a sexually graphic novel if you're a fucking prude--however, Hunter proves to you that she is not scared of the word vagina, nor is she scared of the other vulgar terms for it! And she earned my respect there.
But as you can probably guess, most of the effort was spent on the sexual content in the book and not the story. The story was half-assed at best. It wasn't even really explained in a manner that could leave you hanging on a cliff to know more. It was just BLAH, and you're left feeling like you couldn't give a shit either way, really. Am I even remotely lured to read the next one? No. I might if I stumble on it. But since romance isn't really my thing, and this was all romance and no story, probably not.

I love when a book can pull you in with an interesting story and great characters that make you not want to stop reading, have you forgetting all sense of time, and leaves you smiling and wanting more. Marked was definitely one of those books and another AWESOME read from Aline Hunter. I'm so addicted to her stories. She writes some of most swoon~worthy shifter males and her females are pretty awesome too. Her stories make my heart melt with the depth of emotion between the heroes and heroines.

I love how the mates find each other through their shared dreams first. Jackson *sigh*
I loved his character. He was the perfect Alpha male~strong, smart, protective, charming, arrogant, but at the same time so sweet to Chloe!! Chloe was so cute~I loved the differences in her human side and her wolf side. She was a great character. Oh... and the sex scenes were KILLER HOT. WOW...Aline sure knows how to write dirty~talking males!! lol ;p And she also knows how to write some of the best heart~pounding, sweat inducing, glasses fogging sex scenes that I have ever read. Whew!! lol Definitely a pantie soaking read!! The things that Jackson says and does to Chloe~*sigh*

Such an interesting story~I was immediately sucked in. I was definitely not ready for the book to end. Oh..and that epilogue...what a teaser. Rachel and Declan are going to be so much fun to read. Cannot wait!! I'm also interested in finding out more about Shane.

Marked definitely left me wanting more. Aline has me hooked on yet another of her series and I couldn't be happier. Just the right amount of heart~melting romance, smoking hot sex, lovable characters, drama, suspense, mystery, laughter, and a HEA!!

I can always tell a great book when after I'm finished reading, I'm still thinking about the story and characters and have trouble moving on to another book. So good!! Definitely a keeper to be reread!!

    BEST OF THE BEST rating.

    Safety Gang -

I enjoyed this. Jackson was hot and it had enough plot for the short read it was. Pretty angst free, with a devoted Alpha and strong heroine.

Enough with the neanderthalism my God what's up with that??? Maybe it was that I read 32 of the authors books before this one and since this was a new series I was hoping that I'd get a new theme but nope, didn't happen and if I read one more book where the guy thinks that the height of his/hers pleasure is for him to convince her to have anal sex I will truely vomit... Really!

So if your the kind of person who likes to read books where to keep a woman in line is to fuck her good then this is the book for you.... I'd imagine and as it was in my case if your the kind of person who reads a book and screems at the characters because you can't shoot them in the face because this is a book then this is also a good bad book to read. LOL

This series is dead for me but I will read the next book in the authors other series...

Sorry I couldn't get into this but the author didn't give me enough on any other character to actually give a crap to continue reading and I don't want more of the same.....yuck!

  • Kay

I love Aline Hunter's writing style. Her words know how to connect me to her characters and story. This was a fun, quick and steamy read. Weres, animalistic mentality, pack hierarchy and politics fascinate me so I'm looking forward to reading more of this world.

  • Missy*

I actually really loved this book! I wish it was a little longer though.
*its reason for only being 4 stars*
I loved Chloe and Jackson and hope to see more of them in the second book. It was a nice, entertaining read that I recommend. :3

  • Bakudis

Its another good Aline Hunter book :)

Protective Alpha male and sassy heroine,.. Yummy hehehehehe

  • Rachel

    MAY CONTAIN SPOILERS.

    "All aboard the Jackson Express!"

and i am soooo TOTALLY on board!

"Jackson was hers. She'd fight for him. Bleed for him. Die for him."

I have really enjoyed Aline Hunters books so far and this was just as good :) who doesn't enjoy reading about a sexy as hell, tattooed, alpha, protective werewolf?! I for one like to participate now and again... hehe! ;)

From hot and steamy..."I'm going to take you to my room and make you burn. I'm going to make you so hot you'll think you're dying from the pleasure of it. This isn't a dream. You're going to get all of me, Chloe. All of me."

To just plain sweet and incredibly swoon worthy.. "To hell with other women. The only female i'm concerned about is right here in my arms".

And can i just say Chloe kicks ass.. literally! YOU GO GIRL!

Another success from Aline Hunter bring on the next book! :)

    ENJOYED IT, BUT....

Chloe Bryant has been having dreams very erotic ones, the man in her dreams calls to her. She has a mark on her wrist that has recently become painful, Chloe decides to get a tattoo to cover the mark. So she makes an appointment at "The Wolf's Den" it's there she meets Jackson Donovan the man from her dreams.

I normally love everything this author writes, and while this was an enjoyable read it felt underdeveloped. The characters were well drawn, but after a strong start the plot did fall way a bit. It's a very quick read and I feel that's where the this falls down. The sex in this is hot and well written. There are a number of threads in this story that are left unresolved, so I'm hoping they will be followed up in the next book. This is definitely not a stand alone story.

    Wolfy

I love wolf shifters! Especially when they are fierce and dominant! It's a pet peeve of mine to get into a shifter book when the alpha is written strong and dominant but then meets his mate who mocks him and basically neuters their personality. Totally defeats the story and integrity of the alpha role. This girl has no time for that and thankfully it didn't happen here. I like the tough alpha and beta we meet. I like Chloe and her backstory too. This book could have received 5 stars if it wasn't so rushed. I felt more depth could have been given to relationship development between multiple characters. The story itself was a true mate mystery with intensity. There are explicit sex scenes and if you don't want that then don't read this book or skim through those parts (I do) to get the story.

  • JadeShea

I did enjoy reading this book. It is very well written and descriptive with lots of steamy parts. I like how the main character walks into "The Wolf's Den" and meets her fate. The werewolves are different with the dream sharing part, I enjoyed that a lot. To me this book wasn't bad, but it wasn't great either it was just an in between that I enjoyed. For just a short read it did have a lot of character to it though. Props to the author.

  • Michele ~ la Smoocherina

I enjoyed this book. I had a good plot line, but it needed more fleshing out. I felt it was too short. There was so much more the author could have gotten into. Like, what was the future going to hold for the couple? What was typical. Very few questions were asked and even fewer were answered, which is what makes shifter books so interesting, the world building. A good read, just wanted more of it. :)

  • Tia

It was great but even though it was a series, it pissed me off. They didn't cover enough of Chloe's story. I wanted to find out more about Gavin and see her destroy Gavin's ex mate. Now they are going to move on to Rachel's story and I feel ripped off.

  • Jessica

Super clichéd story, super clichéd character fragments, inconsistent world building, and too much focus on telling rather than showing, except during the super clichéd sex scenes. Yet, on the questionably positive side, I have read worse.

  • Laura (Kyahgirl)

    2.5/5; 3 stars; C+

This book was ok. I like Aline Hunter's writing voice and that probably is the main thing that kept me reading. I didn't hate it, didn't love it. I wish there had been more story and character development. It felt a lot like many PNR I've read in the last year or two.

  • Lisa

I really enjoyed this book. Once again Aline has created great characters and an engaging story. Not to mention Jackson was HOT HOT HOT!

  • Sharona

Great! Start to finish in a couple hours. Couldn't put it down. Awesome characters great story and very hot sex.... What more could you ask for? Looking forward to more.

  • Michele

A good read! A different spin on a common story. :)

  • Theresa

3.5 stars M/F. Wonderful description of inner wolves. Nice Alpha/sub relationship mixed with fated mate devotion. Good sex. HFN ending but there is a second book.

  • Winter

i Don't know how to rate this book. so i will give 3.75 stars.
this book was OK. The story didn't keep me hooked but i definitely finished it.
The Plot was nice. I'm no expert but as a reader I would like it more if there was depth. I have read lots of shifter stories. If I have to compare with the others, this one was by far OK.
The story was too small and wished there was more interaction, fight, Sarcastic comments....... There were a lot of characters and i felt the ending was rushed. I know there will be other books not different characters but still it felt kinda rushed. Didn't like the epilogue at ALL.

    THUS 3.75 stars.

  • Noura

A nice quick read on werewolves. I just finished reading four of the Alpha and Omega series by same author and find this book and story rather simple in its plot and the villains are not as intriguing as the AaO stories. But it's still an ok story. I'd suggest reading this before the AaO series so that you will not feel too underwhelmed.

  • Deb B

this was very short and fast paced. interesting to read another series by the same author involving shifters but have it so totally different in the rituals and attitudes. Her Alpha & Omega series is among my very favourites involving the shifter world and is nothing like this one.
I did enjoy the writing style and the characters

  • Reva Dawn

    Fun and enjoyable

If give it a 🔥🔥🔥🔥 on the naughty side and 🐺🐺🐺 on the shifterness of it.

Its a different take on shifters not all my questions we’re answered but I’m entrusted in the next book

    It was enjoyable

Eh. It was just fine for me.

Quick read with not too much thinking involved.

  • Fatimama

Sweet and safe. No ow/om. No big stupid misunderstanding. Steamy sex! I liked the flow of the story and I'm intrigued enough to read the next books
