Paddington Goes to Town (Paddington, #8) Reviews
-
More shenanigans from Britain’s favourite bear and hard stares galore. The scene where Paddington sees a psychiatrist is possibly my favourite Paddington moment so far.
Now, where did I put that marmalade sandwich? -
More of the marmalade-loving bear's hilarious adventures and misadventures, during which he has plenty of opportunities to direct his "hard stare" (handed down from his Aunt Lucy in Peru) at those who displease him. I especially enjoyed the chapters where he ushers at a wedding and visits a psychiatrist when he goes to the hospital to see his malingering neighbor, Mr. Curry. Of course, everything always turns out all right.
-
A true children's classic, Paddington must be protected at all costs.
-
The psychiatrist scene may be the funniest in all the books.
-
Brilliant! Just Brilliant! The Paddington series were the first stories I remember at infant school. I purchased these as the have the original, and best, illustrations by Peggy Fortnum.
-
I loved the chapter where Paddington wants to visit Mr Curry in the hospital but ends up seeing and talking to a Psychiatrist by mistake. It was probably one of the funniest moments in the Paddington Series.
Like I've said before many times I really enjoy this series and highly recommend it to the younger audience. -
this book is about Paddington bear. He is from darkest Peru. He left Peru in a boat and went to London. The Browns found him at Paddington station.
In this book Paddington goes to a wedding where he is an usher and gets the bride's wedding ring stuck round a bend on his paw. As always with Paddington everything goes wrong.
I think this book is excellent. It made me laugh a lot. I love all Paddington books. -
This bear is hashtag goals. But seriously these books are completely wonderful.

Paddington goes to town, - and does a lot more. Is there anything that needs to be said regarding his stories? Funny, cute, lovely, entertaining, you name it.
-
How can you never fail to laugh and smile when reading Paddington’s adventures? Just wonderful. Paddington at a wedding is hilarious

Another book about my favorite bear --- Paddington.

I loved the Paddington books, as a child. My imagination was captured by these stories of the orphaned bear found in a London railway station, who makes his home with the Brown family and their housekeeper Mrs Bird. Each book consists of a series of stories about the small bear, who gets himself into difficult situations, often due to misunderstandings or over-enthusiasm.
This book is eighth or ninth in the series but it's not necessary to have read any others. This one begins with Paddington being an usher at a friend’s wedding, rather to his family’s surprise. Further chapters see him trying to play golf, being mistaken for a foreign doctor, helping his best friend Mr Gruber to finish touch on his patio, and going carol singing. The stories are light but amusing; written for children of perhaps eight to ten years old, they’re not condescending and never use ‘simple’ language.
This would make an ideal bedtime read-aloud for any child from the age of about five and upwards. It appeals to both boys and girls, and if the conversation and events seem dated at times, they could provide a good starting point for discussions about life in the 1960s for an upper-middle class English family.
Four and a half stars, really. -
Michael Bond's wonderful Paddington Bear stories are as much fun to read as an adult as they were when I was a child. Light & fun, with some lovely laugh out loud moments.

Ostatnio pisałam Wam o Paddingtonie, który odważnie podejmował się pracy - to przecież bardzo obowiązkowy miś. Tym razem niedżwiadek powraca do Was w książce „Paddington wyrusza do miasta”.
W książce spotkamy wszystkich znanych nam z poprzednich części bohaterów: Jonathana i Judytę, państwa Brownów, panią Bird, pana Grubera i pana Curry’ego. Z wyrozumiałością i troską przyjmują wszystkie nieszczęśliwe wypadki Paddingtona, wspierając niedźwiadka w chwilach zwątpienia i niezamierzonych katastrof.

I thought that this was a fun book! Especially if you have seen either the movie or the series about Paddington! I loved how things were very similar and I feel as though some of the chapters were episodes from the series. Loved it!
Oh! And I felt like I could almost hear Mr. Cury yelling, "Bear!" It was fantastic! -
Another collection of Paddington adventures, which seemed to be better and more varied than the last few in the series.
Particular favourites were him taking a rock on a bus, and Paddington’s attempt at being a carolling waiter: -
I began a love affair with Paddington Bear in elementary school. I read every book they had. Now I am finding some of them and giving them a reread.
I see that some of my humor came from these books. I laughed at so much of its silliness. Paddington and the psychiatrist was so funny. -
Read this book out loud, little by little, to the kids. A funny and well written children's book that they all enjoyed.

This book is made up of short stories that are tied together, and are super-fun to read. It's hard to beat the classics.
