A friend’s duty.

Tyler Murphy was an LAPD detective, single and happy—until a near-fatal tragedy crippled his friend, fellow detective Eric Catalano. While Tyler supported Eric, he also became a shoulder for Eric’s wife, Delaney, to lean on. But with one naughty suggestion from Eric, a drunken night with Delaney spilled into erotic abandon. Before it was over, Tyler saw his best friend’s wife as a woman and yearned for more. When Eric struggled to deal with the aftermath, Delaney begged Tyler to leave. Crushed, he fled to Louisiana, hoping to escape his longing for the one woman he could never have again…and unaware of what he’d left behind.

A lover’s desire.

After two years of living with regret, Tyler finds Delaney on his doorstep, her husband having abandoned her long ago. She’s protecting a shocking secret and desperately needs refuge from a stalker determined to see her dead. As they fight to stay alive and catch the killer, they struggle to resolve the guilt of their past pleasures. But they can’t deny that what was once a spark is now a flame burning out of control. To possess Delaney—body and soul—Tyler must heal her pain and thwart the evil that’s a mere breath behind her…

Not feeling much like writing a review...but not because I didn't like it! In fact, I kind of loved it.:) So here goes... Maybe it was my low expectations going into it (the hero, Tyler Murphy, was kind of a pest in the previous book, almost coming between the H/h)...or maybe it was because Shayla Black just wrote an entertaining story that appealed to me on every level. Simple story line with a nice element of suspense, sexy hot dialogue, enough back story to make me care about the main characters, a spunky newpaper writer heroine, a revisiting of past characters in the series, and a surprisingly sweet hero with a man-slut past who lives up (physically, that is) to his nickname of "Cockzilla"! This was one hot, sexy read, and unlike some of the other books in the series, was not overloaded with kinky sex.

Tyler and Delaney shared a past as friends--Tyler was once an L.A. vice cop and was Delaney's husband Eric's partner and best friend. But when Eric was shot on the job (and paralyzed from the waist down) he got a crazy idea that Tyler should join him and Delaney in the bedroom, and take over his husbandly duties (for one night). Sounds like a great idea, right? What could possibly go wrong with that scenario? Well, Tyler and Delaney find that they have a connection beyond "just friends" (they set the sheets on fire), and even though Delaney sends Tyler away, it's too late to save her troubled marriage. But when Delaney stumbles upon a story involving a crooked assisitant DA and starts investigating, she finds her life threatened. Delaney decides to seek out Tyler, because she has something of his that needs protecting (I'm sure you can read between the lines here). When Tyler sees Del again you know that his horn dog days are over--he vows to protect her and make her see that he can be a one woman man, especially when the woman is her. Tyler and Del still have a hot hot hot physical connection, but can Del ever trust that she will be enough for him? Has Tyler truly changed his ways?

    Tyler...

Yep, this was a pretty easy read, and I found it quite enjoyable. I really enjoyed Tyler and Delaney together. They didn't play games with each other, and Tyler let her know that he was not going to let her go again. Delaney did have her doubts about him (which was to be expected--he did have a deserved reputation), which I almost got tired of hearing. But Ms. Black didn't let that go on too long, and I sure enjoyed how Tyler set about convincing Delaney that he would be hers for the long haul.:)

Great read for those following this series, and one that could be read as a stand alone. A solid 4 1/2 stars.

Warning: This story contains explicit sex (oral and one anal scene); a blunt talking hero who can go all night in the bedroom; and one small spanking scene. Not for the faint of heart.

I have followed The "Wicked Lovers" series from the beginning and have been waiting for Tylers book for a long time. I wasn't disappointed, his book was a sizzling hot read!!! Wow, two whole chapters dedicated to the first time he and Del had sex! As the book continues, the sex just gets hotter and hotter! I highly recommend this book (and series) to anyone who likes a good story with hot hot sex. There is some light BDSM in this book but it is quite light and just sticks to some spanking and being tied up...
Also, it is nice to have some of the characters from the previous books be a part of the story as well.

I really loved this book. I thought it had the most mainstream sex of all the books, but the heat factor was off the charts. We've known throughout the series that Tyler has a heart and in this book, we get to see it explode, filled with love. He really suprises you with his capacity for forgiveness. And he's very much an Alpha male. You want that happy ending for Tyler and Del so bad. There was some definite sexy D/s, and it was very hot. I loved Del. She was a brave, sweet heroine. So strong and yet so vulnerable. This was the first time in the series that I can remember where the subplot is far in the background, I enjoyed that. Don't get me wrong, it was a good plot, but the relationship is the more interesting part. Loved it. Can't wait for book 7.

    Happily Ever After - Reads

You kind have an idea what a hero might be like when you learn early on that his nickname is "cockzilla". Tyler had been living up to the name, sleeping with different women every night, the man loves sex and women, but there's a reason for his actions as he's trying to fill a void that one woman left in his life 2 years ago. Tyler does enjoy his playboy ways, but when Delaney shows up on his doorstep with not only a huge, dangerous problem, but she also has a surprise for Tyler, he's a dad.

Working as a reporter, Delaney (Del), has uncovered criminal activity from Martin Carlson, an L.A. Assistant District Attorney, who's in place to become the next District Attorney and when Del finds out that he's crooked, has law enforcement in his back pocket and he's working with a local gang that's netting him millions of dollars. Del is gathering information for her story when her life takes a dangerous turn. Her home is broken into, she's almost run off the road, the final straw is her car exploding. She's finally able to find Tyler after 2 years and wants him to watch his son, Seth, while she finishes her story, putting Carlson away for good so she can live her life again without constantly looking over her shoulder. What she wasn't prepared for was Tyler's reaction to seeing her again.

To understand Del and Tyler in the present, flashbacks are needed for when they knew each other 2 years before, when Del was married to Tyler's best friend, Eric. One night between Tyler and Del, with her then husband Eric's approval, turns into so much more than just a night of sex that they were planning. Tyler and Del had much deeper feelings for each other, which didn't set well with Eric, and things went downhill fast. Del told Tyler to stay away from her, Del and Eric divorced, and Tyler left town never knowing that their one night together resulted in his son, Seth. Fast forward 2 years and the woman that turned Tyler inside out is back and he will do everything he can to convince her to give him a real chance. But his easy ways are hard for Del to overlook. She knows exactly what Tyler's been up to and she can't believe that his feelings for her are strong enough for him to give up his bed hopping lifestyle.

What I loved about this story was the balance. Often times I find that sex can be really over the top and overpowering in an erotic story, but this book has a strong suspense storyline that balances the steamy sex that Tyler and Del eventually give in to. Tyler really steps up and starts acting like a man who knows he's found the woman he's supposed to be with. He's an alpha all the way, he wants to protect and help Delaney and he was an easy hero to root for. Delany takes more time to actually get on the "Tyler is now committed to one woman" train. She, understandably so, can't let herself imagine a life with Tyler. As badly as she wants him in his son's life, she takes a long time to believe in him. Tyler wears her down and convinces her to give him and them a chance.

Fear kicking him, he gingerly withdrew and threw the condom in the nearest bin. Then he rolled Del into his arms and looked down at her with a frown of worry. She wasn't hurt, but her blue eyes were a sea of pleading. Tears ran down her cheeks.

"Tyler..." She clasped her arms around his neck.

"Angel." He scooped her against him and held her tight.

He'd undone her utterly. Now he had to put her back together.

Still struggling to get his breath under control, he fused their lips together and let her have all the emotion roiling around inside him. The sated exhaustion, the reverence of a man who knew he'd been blessed by someone special, the silent promise to love and protect her, the determination to never let her go.

...She wasn't ready to trust him totally with her heart yet. But she was going to roll the dice with him, give herself, and hope that he didn't let her down.

The suspense was well paced throughout. Carlson has a lot people working on his side, some surprising people, and Del and Tyler spend much of the story trying to get enough facts for Del's story to put him away. There's an added storyline about Del's ex-husband Eric. He's pretty messed up and goes way over the top in one scene, forcing himself and his anger out on Del and Tyler, and I liked how Del was able to handle herself. Xander shows up and helps out, and oh my God I'm already in book lust with this man. He's playful, flirty, and dealing with enough family angst to last a lifetime. His brother, Javier, is going through a horrible time, so in between helping Tyler keep Del safe, Xander is dealing with a brother who sounds like he's spiraling downward fast. Xander and Javier's story is up next and I can't wait to learn more about them.

I overall really enjoyed this story. Delaney is a heroine who is easy to care about, seeing her struggle with doing what's right for her son, leaving him in other peoples care while she tries to make their future safe. She's really sweet and she's exactly what Tyler needed to see where his future is going. Tyler is a strong, sexy hero and I liked seeing him realize what Delaney means to him not only now, but how he was trying to fill the hole in his life that she made over the past 2 years. Their sex scenes were incredibly hot but I always love the quieter scenes, Tyler holding Del while she cries over missing her son and dealing with the stress of everything coming down around her. It was those scenes mixed with the hotness that Shayla Black always brings and the suspense of the Carlson storyline that made this story a well balanced read that I got pulled right into.

Five things to do when a new Wicked Lovers book comes in the mail:
    *Squeeeeeee in excitement
*Do a happy dance clutching the package
*Jump up and down not caring if I fall on my face
    *Open it berry berry carefully
*Say bye bye night night to the world to settle in with my precious

I will confess I've had a crush on Tyler for years. From the moment he showed his face as the sexy and carefree bouncer at Alyssa's strip club he had my full attention. Even though he was not lucky to get the girl he "apparently" wanted. See I thought all along that was me.

"Welcome to the real me. When you were married to Eric, you saw the pal, the prankster. You saw the guy who didn't take much seriously because I didn't have anything to be serious about. I still want to have fun, but when it comes to you, I'm serious as a fucking heart attack."

*THUD* Ms. Black gave Tyler a perfect story! MINE TO HOLD was everything I expected for him and then some. The story was romantic, suspenseful, action-packed...climaxed-packed....Is that even a word? It should be and if it isn't then Tyler invented it. I might've renamed him Tyler "Mr. 5+ Orgasm" Murphy.
Tyler wasn't about to slow down. Her orgasm didn't pacify him at all. If anything, it revved him up more... "Again," he demanded.

In his life back in LA, Tyler had a best friend and partner, Eric. Things happened and Eric one drunk night asked Tyler to have sex with his wife while he watched. And see, Tyler had been sort of falling in love with Delaney for a while now. He latched on that one opportunity he would have to have her. And he gave it his all. He wanted to crawl inside of her. And somehow all that emotion showed and his buddy threw him out. Now almost two years later, Delaney shows up in Lafayette, on his doorstep, needing his help and oh.. by the way, they have a baby together!

As a journalist who is trying to get that big story to start her career she stumbled across some corrupt politician who now wants to silence her. The only way she can save herself and her baby is by getting the proof she needs to expose him. And Tyler won't let her go back to LA alone.

Tyler is as take charge as I expected him to be, very alpha. But he also shows that he trusts Del and gives her the space she needs to feel independent and get her job done. But never without help and protection. Thank God a heroine with common sense! I really liked Delaney!

I was expecting a little something extra with these two which never came. After Tyler has been around all his BDSM, menagerie and kinky fuckery I was a surprised when he was pretty much vanilla...very, very good vanilla though. Maybe with some chocolate swirls. I guess I shouldn't complain about Mr. 5+ Orgasm Murphy. And the other thing I was a bit upset at him for was how easy he disappeared from Delaney's life. Yeah, I know she was married to his best friend, but he should've at least stuck around for a bit if he had those feelings for her instead of running.

Onto the rest of the crew. There was a good amount of all our favorite characters from the series, past and future. Jack and Deke and Luc and their wives. Seems like everyone has babies running around, that just makes me so happy!

But I was especially happy to see a lot of Xander. Ah yes, I can't wait for his book. He's a playboy, he thinks he's all tough and I can't wait to see the woman that will bring him to his knees. Or the other way around. I don't mind volunteering. Don't worry Logan, you are still number one in my heart.
"It's always you for me. From the first minute I touched you, it was always you. Every other day and every other minute, I was marking time. No one else ever meant a damn thing. But you haunted me. The moment you knocked on my door in Lafayette, you sealed your fate. There's no way I'm letting you get away from me."

MINE TO HOLD was romantic and sweet, while having a great plot and steaming up the pages. Shayla does it again!

Five things to do when you finish a Wicked Lovers book:
*Cry and scream inconsolably because this story is over.
*Cry and scream inconsolably because you have to wait another year for the next book.
*Start writing a hate email about having to wait a year for the next book
*Delete said email and write a really fangirlish letter to the author telling her how much you love her
*Try to convince her that I would make the perfect heroine for Xander's book.

The Wicked Lovers series is probably my favorite erotic romance series. Shayla Black really covers it all: The hot alpha men, the steamy curl-your-toes sex scenes, the wonderfully paced suspense subplot! I mean, really what else can you ask for?

    More?!?!

    Yeah, I’d love MORE too!

MINE TO HOLD is the sixth book in the series and while it’s not my favorite, I still think it’s a very strong book. The first thing I noticed about this book is Shayla’s writing. She is just a master storyteller. I am amazed at how she is able to evoke emotions through her words and have them come across as deep and as passionate as they do. I think it’s why I love this series so much. There’s just so much heat and heart infused in each of the books.

When Tyler Murphy learns about a life-changing experience, he doesn’t automatically feel betrayed by Delaney, the woman who has held his heart for almost forever. In fact, Tyler handles the situation so well it’s hard to imagine a real guy reacting the way he does. But Black does a great job of showing Delaney’s side of the story so that she doesn’t look like the bad guy.

As you can tell I am trying to tread carefully here because I don’t want to reveal any spoilers. Though what the life-changing experience is revealed early on in the story, I think it would have more impact if you read it yourself.

I typically don’t like stories that involve a lot of backstory between the hero and heroine, but this one worked for me because I was genuinely interested in hearing about Tyler’s past. He’s the easy-going guy of the group so reading about his past was an interesting eye-opener. We see large parts of his past that aren’t so glamorous but set up this book very well.

I loved Tyler’s possessiveness in this book. It works so well because of the tie that links Delaney and him together. There is one scene that involves Tyler singing that just melted my heart. I absolutely loved it.

While Shayla usually has a great suspense subplot going on, I didn’t really feel it urgency so much in this book. Most of the problems that were arising happened after the fact so I didn’t feel the pulse-pounding thrill that I usually have when reading a Wicked Lovers book, but nevertheless there was still a lot to keep me happy.

Like for example, the steamy hot sex scenes? Yes, did I mention that they were hot? Well, they are.

So now you know and now you need to grab this book. Seriously.

    Best. Series. Ever.

Tyler Murphy, the self-proclaimed "man whore," was a carefree LAPD detective, who loved life and his job. However, that all came to an abrupt end when his partner, Eric Catalano, was nearly fatally injured in the line of duty. Tyler found himself helping Eric and his wife, Delaney, hold it all together. After a night of too much drinking and not enough food, Eric, Tyler, and Delaney charted a course into territory that would change their lives forever. Soon after, Tyler found himself cut off from both Eric and Delaney with little to no warning. Fast forward two years, and Tyler opens his door to find Delaney Catalano on the other side. He could tell from her appearance that she was in trouble. But Delaney brought more than trouble with her; she also dropped the bomb that Tyler has a son.

As a local reporter in L.A., Delaney had stumbled upon information that put Martin Carlson, an up and coming ADA, in bed with some local gang members. With nowhere else to turn, she seeks out Tyler to take care of their son, Seth. Of course, when Tyler hears her entire story, he wants to get involved big time. However, Delaney is adamant that he stay with Seth. If anything happens to her, at least he will still have one parent. Never one to leave his friends or family hanging, Tyler puts himself into the equation that places him and Delaney up close and personal; right where she did not want to be. No matter how hard Delaney tries to ignore the feelings she long since buried, it's impossible to deny that there is something between them. Soon the pair finds themselves not only giving into desires they can no longer contain, but also trying to stay one step ahead of the thugs that Carlson hired to shut Delaney up for good. When Delaney's only contact turns up dead and her evidence ends up missing, she has to make a deal with the devil in order to save herself, or at least save Tyler to ensure the safety of their son.

The chemistry between Tyler and Delaney is so potent that it wafts off the pages, intoxicates you, pulls you in, and holds you in a sinful embrace. You feel the heat they generate and you keep walking towards it even though you know they're about to start a fire. Delaney doesn't want to need Tyler nor does she want to give in to the burgeoning desire she feels. But she does, and her internal fight is so interesting to watch because with him is where she needs to be.

Tyler does a complete 360 degree turn in this book. I was amazed at how he manned up and took responsibility for his newfound family. He accepted the fact that he was a father, even relishing in it. He decided that he not only wanted Delaney, but he needed her and nothing and no one was going to stand in his way. Oh be still my heart! I fell in love with Tyler Murphy in this book. I cheered for him. I wanted him to be happy. I wanted him to kick major ass and claim the woman that completes him. This book has totally reformed "Cockzilla" and turned him into the most beloved male in Wicked Lovers history! Shayla Black, I don't know how you do that voodoo that you do so well, but you rocked it! Loved this book!!!!

I have finally finished it!!!!!The reason why I'm saying this is because I really expected more of Tyler...The sixth book in Wicked Lovers tells the story of Tyler and how he ended up where he is now.
Once upon a time, there were two friends one of whom was married. After a terrible accident, the married guy stayed paralyzed from the waist below. One dark night he asked his friend to sleep with his wife(crazy, isn't it). Both his wife and his friend were hesitant but accepted. And so it happended. But after it was done the married man got really upset and threw his friend out of his house and months later his wife as well.(who was pregnant with his friend's child and had nowhere else to go to).I think that says a lot about this man who didn't even look back or even attempted to help this woman who because of his choice suffered. And no this man isn't Tyler.
Tyler loved his friend but he also loved his friend's wife too.So when his friend asked him to sleep with his wife he eagerly accepted. That is,until he threw him out of their lives.Tyler had no idea what he left behind when he left the town they all lived in.So imagine his surprise when Delany(his ex-friend's ex-wife,yeah throwing her out wasn't enough he also devirced her)showed up in his house with a child in her arms and claimed that someone was trying to kill them.
I liked the book,I really did but the story wasn't totally believable and the way the showed they love wasn't enough for me.I do understand that by making love with someone you further connect with him but sex isn't always enough. This couple didn't get it.
While Tyler loved her,she was confused and was trying to deal with her problems. But I never saw that. She was supposed to be strong but the only thing she did when something came up was cry and run into Tyler's arms.Really????I even wonder if she knows what strong means...
Nevertheless It's a great addition in the series and I would only recommended it to those who have read the series or those who love being treated like"delicate flowers".

    Mine to Hold
    3 Stars

Tyler Murphy has only ever loved one woman, Delaney Catalano, his best friend's wife. When an unplanned intimate encounter shatters their lives, Tyler and Delaney go their separate ways. But now circumstances have reuinited them and Tyler is determined not to lose the opportunity to regain what he once lost. However, secrets from the past threaten Delaney and Tyler's new found love and the consequences may be fatal.

Series note: This is book #6 in the Wicked Lovers series and while characters from previous stories do put in an appearance, the plot does not necessitate reading in order.

Every once in a while, a book is mentioned in one of my groups that catches my eye. At times these are gems awaiting discovery but at other times, they are better left hidden. This is one of the rare occasions where neither applies, but it was, nevertheless, worth the effort.

Tyler and Delaney have intense chemistry and their scenes together are scorching. The suspense plot is predictable but keeps the pages turning.

All in all, a pleasant way to spend a few hours.

    Tyler and De

    (Spoilers)
I shelved this under disappointing and erotica...and then laughed at myself :) Were my expectations too high?

Smut, yes. Great story, not so much.
It's like reading porn: No plot, no character development, unrealistic situations and scene after scene after SCENE of sex. The sex was scorching hot, don't get me wrong, but is it too much to ask to put more than 5 minutes into a plausible plot scenario with a tiny bit of character depth?

They went from "oh hey hai, you have a baby I never told you about from when we slept together in front of my husband and the condom broke"

    to

"OMGZ! You are the love of my eternal life, my soul mate, my everything, I live and breath for you! Lets get married and have more babies, right now!" All in about 12 pages.

It was a hot read, so I'll give it 3 stars, I think I just need to re-adjust my expectations for future Shayla Black readings. I understand this is the last in a series, am curious if the other books follow a similar formula.

This series has been hit or miss for me and thankfully Mine to Hold was a total win! Good plot and the main couple, Tyler and Delaney, had intense chemistry and sizzling sex which is a standard for Ms. Black. Characters from the prior books are a strong support system to Tyler and it was nice to revisit them in the story. Fans of the series will not be disappointed in this latest installment.

I have been hot and cold about the Wicked Lovers series. Some books have rocked my socks off. Some have left me wanting. Two are yet to be read. This one ... well I adored every minute of it, but had a few issues that I will get into later. I am going to describe a lot of the ground work that makes up this story. It may or may not be a spoiler, so I want to make sure you understand that before you read any further.

Tyler Murphy has been in a few of the past books, but I didn't know much about him until now. Tyler was a young LAPD Officer when is partner is gunned down and left paralyzed. Tyler and Eric's wife, Delaney, do everything to support Eric as he rehabs, but Eric isn't exactly the nicest guy. One night of buddies drinking leads Eric into suggesting Tyler sleep with his wife, but Eric wants to be involved with it. Tyler asks over and over if that is what he really wants and Eric does everything to convince Tyler he wants it. Even Delaney tries, but gives in for Eric.

Before this night, Tyler always thought of Delaney as his buddies wife and his friend. While he could have had romantic notions, he wasn't thinking them. This night brought out how much he wanted Delaney. On the flip side, Delaney was so starved for affection and touch. Eric had stopped touching her three months before his accident. When the passion started flowing, the three were all involved in some way, but Tyler couldn't continue to take orders from Eric and Delaney couldn't avoid the sexy passion she was feeling for Tyler. Eric can't deal with the aftermath. Delaney, trying to save her marriage, severs all ties to Tyler.

Tyler having been left hurting, moves to Louisana and eventually becomes a bouncer at a strip club. Sleeping through all the lovely ladies to the point where his boss and friends wives feel an intervention is needed. That's the night Delaney shows up on Tyler's doorstep with his son, Seth. Delaney's running from someone who wants her dead and doesn't care who has to go with her to get it done. She located Tyler and comes to drop her son off with him and head back to finish up her job. But Tyler won't let her go it alone.

So here's my problem with this story. One they were drunk as they were making this decision to have sex and break marriage vows, even if they had Eric's approval. The one thing Eric says over and over is he wants to watch and be involve. His mistake is thinking Delaney and Eric could keep their emotions for each other out of it. Eric I felt wanted them to have cold intercourse to turn him on. So then Tyler starts making Delaney come...a lot. Ok, fine, but Eric expresses she never does that for him. They should have realized at this point he was not onboard any more, but emotions are high and Tyler is balls deep in Delaney to suddenly start thinking straight. There is one point where Tyler tells Eric to basically shut up and leave them alone. Then Delaney and Tyler basically focus on each other and Eric has no part of it. Basically I thought all three characters were in trouble and flawed. But most of all, I didn't think Eric had anything to complain about. He asked them to do it. He kept giving them approval even after they questioned him over and over.

Well, that was in the past and it is two years later. Delaney never told Tyler he had a son, nor spent a whole lot of effort to find him. Eric divorced her right after she found out she was pregnant. Tyler tried several time to contact her, unbeknownst to him, Eric got her a new mobile phone. Tyler's hurt having just realized he has strong feelings for Delaney. Delaney's hurt by her husband's betrayal and now her pregnancy. Eric's just an jerk who thinks the world owes him.

So now Delaney is back in LA with Tyler and they are trying to eliminate the issue of the bad guy killing her. It wasn't too deep. I could peg a few things that were going to happen right off and kept screaming at the stupidity of them after they were being so careful in other ways. But what I did love, was them growing to love one another again. Tyler being so committed after being a man whore. Delaney being so committed to her son. It just all fused into me loving the rest of the story despite the bad start to their relationship.

    Guilty Pleasures

When Shayla Black posted an excerpt of Mine to Hold on her website several months ago, nothing would stop me from getting a glimpse of this book even though waiting for the June 5th release would be beyond torture. It was. But, the excitement of knowing Tyler’s story was just around the corner was worth it. We were first introduced to him in Delicious, Book 3, as the sexy body guard/bouncer at Sexy Sirens strip club who chased every skirt within reach, including the owner of the club, but you always knew there was a great story waiting to be revealed and Ms. Black did not disappoint. In fact, she out did herself with this one and I couldn’t have been more pleased or entertained. Well, the wait is almost over and every fan of this series is in for a real treat because IMHO, this is the best Wicked book yet.

Tyler is your basic man-whore but we soon learn the faceless women are nothing but space to fill a void since he left California and found his way to Louisiana. No regrets though because he’s made some great friends who are more like family than anyone he’s actually related to. His friends wives are a little worried about him and think he should settle down (very funny scene at the beginning of the book). And literally right before Delaney walks back into his life he tells them he’s not looking for any kind of happily ever after. Famous last words.

Delaney is desperate and has no one else to turn to when she’s finally able to track Tyler down. Showing up on his door step is the last place she wants to be but has more than herself to worry about and hopes that seeking out Tyler for help is a good decision. It’s looking like most everyone in her life has betrayed her or left her and she’s more than a little scared to trust anyone. Emotions are running high, her one night of passion with Tyler is forever marked in her head and heart, and she submits to his unending seduction where she finally feels safe and comforted. There are some serious thugs who want her dead, it’s hard to think about anything else but staying alive and finding the evidence to put the bad guys behind bars, but Tyler continues to prove he’s there to protect and not let her down. He goes caveman on her more than once and I’m so smitten with him I think it’s endearing. Del feels differently but I think she handles it well. :)

The on-edge suspense moves the plot along at a suitable pace and the interaction between Tyler and his close group of friends, along with the copious amounts of super steamy sex brings it all full circle. Tyler is commanding yet so sweet and caring. I truly fell in love with him. Del is gritty and strong and my heart broke for her several times because of everything she’s been through. I really liked them as a couple and felt they were a great match. Shayla Black writes THE best love scenes that go on for pages with the ability to draw you right into the scene. I have a strong appreciation for her writing style, everything clicks with me and I always feel like I know where she’s coming from. I’m working my way through her backlist now and anxiously await her new releases.

Mine to Hold is a great addition to the series and a must read. If you haven’t read this series and you are a sucker for very hot alpha men who are very, uh…….talented in all aspects of their life, what are you waiting for?

This wasn't my favorite of the series. I didn't really feel the connection with the Del and Tyler. I know that they had a connection from before and towards the end I started to get the connection but for a good 3/4 of the book it just wasn't happening for me. It was good the last 1/3 what I have come to expect with Shayla Black. I love Xander and look forward to his story.

Oh finally this is the kind of story I was remembering from this series.

I love Tyler and Delaney, the fact that Eric Delaney’s ex-husband in a way set all this into motion.
I kind of love that Tyler is this big ladies’ man but all it takes the look and love from one women to change him. He was mush I mean MUSH when he found out he was a father. I loved it.

Great story line, the suspense and action I loved it. Add in the Erotic romance elements and this was what I loved about this series.
Great narration she didn’t make her whinny which I appreciate.

Excellent addition to Wicked Lovers series.

    ARC review
Mine to Hold is a wonderful addition to the Wicked Lover's series. Mine to Hold is book 6. You can read it as a stand alone but there are so many awesome updates regarding the previous couples included that it would be more meaningful if you are a fan of the series. Plus they are OH so good.

I've always said that Shayla Black should win a prize for the best first lines of her books. Mine to Hold is no different.

"Tyler, are you aware that all the girls at Sexy Sirens have nick-named you Cockzilla?"

    Got your attention right?

The first two chapters push all your curiosity buttons. You need to know how, what, why and when.

Delaney shows up at Tyler's house under mysterious circumstances AND she is toting along a beautiful baby boy... that just happens to be Tyler's. Oh yes, you need to know what the heck is going on. I will be the first to admit that I am not a fan of books about secret pregnancies but Mine to Hold is so much more than that story line. There is drama, action, angst, mystery and of course, hot steamy romance.

One of the many things I loved about Mine to Hold is that Shayla Black answers questions the reader has through the heroine, Delaney. She makes Delaney pose these questions herself.
    I'll give you an example.
Delaney needs Tyler to watch over their baby boy, Seth. Tyler's house is full of company when she arrives. The visitors just happen to be each of the previous couples. *squee* Delaney picks up on the fact that a few of the couples have an alternative lifestyle and questions whether or not Seth should be left near people who freely discuss and use floggers and whips.

This thought process that Delaney experienced is completely spot on and is what would be expected of a parent. I would have been so disappointed if Delaney didn't question herself doing the right thing or if she paid no attention. I simply loved that Shayla Black addressed the exact thoughts I was having through Delaney's inner thoughts. This occurrence happens numerous times. Outstanding.

I loved the back story that was written regarding Delaney and Tyler. You want to know and understand how Seth came to be. I thought it was creative and added a lot of insight to how the couple's personalities came to be in their present day situation. I felt for both of them and it was very easy to dislike Delaney's ex-husband, Eric.

As Delaney and Tyler make their way by ever-changing vehicles from Louisiana to LA, you can read how they're becoming reacquainted with one another and their feelings for each other are like simmering electric wires. They cannot deny their chemistry as hard as Delaney tries.

Their intimate scenes are incredibly sexy and emotional. Delaney has been so lonely that your heart breaks to read about how she is affected by just experiencing a hug or a touch by Tyler. She is so worn down from running, single parenthood and loneliness. Tyler has been trying to compensate from his past rejection of Delaney. I love how quickly he just wants to embrace it all, Delaney and Seth.

What Mine to Hold also does is set a perfect stage for Xander's book. What a trip that guy is. I cannot wait to see what Shayla Black has in mind for him.

Teasers: One drunken night, betrayal, disastrous kitchen trickery, Tyler's Angel.

Well. This was something. When I read books like this I automatically think of bleached blond airheads with fake boobs, leathery skin and tattoos. I think of, quite simply, white trash. And that's just for the women. I think it's in the descriptions and this book didn't help considering it opened with a scene with an "alpha male" surrounded by former strippers. How could I NOT think white trash?

BUT. The saving grace was Delaney, the heroine of this piece...I say "saving grace" loosely. In comparison to the strippers she was as pure as the driven snow. However, there was that moment two years prior to the beginning of this book when Delaney had sex with the hero, Tyler, per her crippled husband's request. He wanted to watch since he couldn't perform. The sex was mind bending for Tyler and Delaney and true buried feelings came out during their tryst. Delaney then shoved Tyler out of her life in order to try and save her husband - who had been boinking women left and right during their marriage.

The lines of what is morally right and wrong are sort of blurred in these books. You root for the hero and heroine and hate people like, say, the ex-husband, who at one point attempts to rape Delaney in order to flip the tables and make Tyler watch (he's handcuffed to a fridge). I honestly felt this scene was meant to make us totally hate the ex in case we felt any lingering doubt as to how he felt about what he, yes, had instigated. HOWEVER - Delaney and Tyler both had the ability to say "NO". Which is what non-white trash folks would do or really, anyone with scruples and morals.

The thing about this book though - Delaney and Tyler are pretty hot together. The sex scenes were smoldering and it was great to see Tyler go from banging strippers every night to fall all over himself to protect and win Delaney. I respected the fact that Delaney didn't just fall over Tyler and had a very healthy amount of skepticism regarding his man whoring past. Then again...can a woman who slept with another man, whether at the behest of her husband or not, be really judgmental? Part of me thinks no.

And Tyler's man whoring was disgusting. No WAY would I take up with a man like that. So I was with Delaney on not trusting him. At all. But, as a hero, Tyler did a complete 180 on his bad boy behavior and did everything he could to win Delaney's heart and prove to her that he was head over heels in love with her, and always had been. Apparently that was why he'd immersed himself with strippers - to screw away his feelings for Delaney and search for that same kind of connection...uh, yeah. Only a complete idiot would think that would happen with a freaking stripper. Tyler: great at police work, but a complete dunderhead about everything else.

Yet, I did enjoy this book for what it was.

This was a reread for me or a listen. I loved this book it had a lot of action it had love and hot sex. Tyler Murphy was an LAPD detective, single and happy—until a near-fatal tragedy crippled his friend, fellow detective Eric Catalano. While Tyler supported Eric, he also became a shoulder for Eric's wife, Delaney, to lean on. But with one naughty suggestion from Eric, a drunken night with Delaney spilled into erotic abandon. Before it was over Tyler saw his best friend's wife as a woman and yearned for more. When Eric struggled to deal with the aftermath, Delaney begged Tyler to leave. Crushed, he fled to Louisiana, hoping to escape his longing for the one woman he could never have again and unaware of what he'd left behind. Delaney comes to Louisiana because she needs someone she can trust to look after her son a son that Tyler didn't know that he had he is angry at Delaney and he should be she never told him about Seth. This was a really good book full of action and although Tyler isn't into the BDSM thing like a few of the men in this series the sex scenes were still hot as hell. I would have killed my ex if he had did the things that Eric did to Delaney because he was jealous. I also loved that once again the friends in this series came together to help Tyler and Delaney and even Luc who doesn't like Tyler. I love this series.

Another great read from Shayla Black. What a great premise for Tyler aka Cockzilla's book. After screwing everything in and out of a skirt for the last however many years, the one that got away, Delaney, or Del, shows up on his doorstep. With his son. HELLO DADDY!!

And she's on the run from big baddies who want to kill her. This has potential for a great plot and several other plots are thrown in there as well, not to mention all the time spent on Xander. Clearly his book is next and it already sounds more interesting than how this one ended up.

The big climatic moment however was pretty tense and I loved how everyone worked together. I was definitely on the edge of my seat to see how it would all play out. But THEN, Ms. Black fabricated some drama out of nothing. It's how she's ended the last two books and I have to say it's not needed. And that is my little rant lol.

It's been a very enjoyable series and I can't wait to read more books from Shayla Black!

Tyler Murphy, playboy extraordinaire, has been filling the gaping hole in his heart with meaningless sexual encounters since Delaney "Del" Catalano kicked him to the curb after their one hot night together. Now two years later, Del shows up on his front porch asking for his help.

MINE TO HOLD is the classic lovers misunderstanding with a bit of suspense thrown in. Del and Tyler have plenty of baggage to work through. Tyler has to prove that he is above and beyond his famous nickname.

Yes, Tyler is an asshat, a total dick, and an uber-alpha, but that just makes his turn-around that much more enjoyable. Del at times could be irritating in her whining and see-sawing on the border of TSTL.

In the long run, MINE TO HOLD was an easy read with a wicked, hot hero who would do anything for the woman he loves!

  • AerinLuvs

    3.5 Stars rounded up.

The beginning was so-so, it got better at about the 60% point. The plot was pretty good, and the action was good. Erotic scenes were very hot and steamy and there was mild mild bdsm. No menages. Some violence.
The Xander character is mentioned quite a bit, he is a billionaire playboy who lives primarily in L.A.

Characterizations of the heroine and hero were quite good (but not too original as most of the Wicked heros seem very similar); the familial love descriptions were emotional and almost made me teary-eyed.

The writing was not her best, it felt quite rushed and some of the language was a bit awkward.

so far the best in the series is #1, this one is next best imo.

  • Natalia815

    3´5 estrellas.

    Hot, sweet and sexy!

I usually don't mind erotica, when the author
does a decent story that grips me and keeps
me entertained. This book was good in that
aspect, it was erotica but with a decent
action plot (maybe not the best but it was okay).

There were some things that bothered me in the
book and it seems to be a predominant factor
in the two books I've read by this author before, so
I am assuming this is her formula. The guys are
always manwhores who cannot keep it in their pants.
I am okay with the male lead Tyler being experienced,
but having a nickname like cockzilla because you
spend your time having anal sex with women in
a BDSM club is a bit extreme. Maybe because I went
into this book completely blind to the storyline, plots,
and other themes that are actually featured in these books,
but I just couldn't connect with that aspect. It wasn't until
I read the book descriptions for the other books in the series,
that I realized what Wicked lovers was all about. I don't
think this series is for me.

I really liked this book and the Hero was actually
decent and a pretty stand up guy. As soon as Del walks
back into his life he is all about her and the son they
have. I absolutely adored the fact that most of the
book is told from his POV and that Del was not a whimpering
female who automatically fell at his feet. I appreciated that
she had hesitations and wasn't willing to put her heart out
there for a manwhore and actually told him this (especially
after what she heard in the opening scene). I did love the
alpha side of Tyler and how he was all about getting
Del back and starting a life with her. However, I did hate
that he used the excuse of, it doesn't matter that I slept
with legions of girls because I was thinking about you the
entire time, (yeah buddy whatever (insert eye roll)).

If you are thinking of picking up this book
without reading the rest of the series then I highly
suggest you don't. The other couples are featured
predominantly here when trying to solve the case and
you kind of feel very lost and overwhelmed
by the amount of names they throw at you. Plus,
based on descriptions and conversations Tyler
was highly interested in the lead of another book and
you can't help but hate her a little (at least I did). That
being said, I never read Alyssa's book so maybe she
    is a great gal.

Plus, if this is your thing you'll have a richer
experience because the author gives hints of follow up
books when she is wrapping up the story.

Overall, I am probably not going to read the rest of
the series, because the next book is a menage and I
like monogamy in my books. I liked this story fine
just fine and I sort of enjoyed the manwhore hero and
even Del who was kind of bland.

    FYI

it's nice to get Tyler's story here - he's been a constant in the series so far, ever since we got introduced to him in Alyssa and Luc's story and well, it's about time that we see what really makes him tic.  We know that he was brought into the series because he was hired by Alyssa'a brother to find her and we also know that he's a serial womanizer - a guy who really hasn't had much of a reason to plant a solid foundation anywhere.  at least romantically.

So this story is where we see what his past was like, and what it means for his future.  We know that he was a cop from LA and that he left that job to become a detective and then went out on his own.  Thankfully before that though, we know that he at one point in time had a best friend and partner who was married to an amazing woman.  And that's where the stories cross.

Delaney was the wife of Tyler's partner, and after prodding from her now ex husband, they ended up becoming much closer than friends.  Of course you know that it's going to end poorly and that's exactly what happened - 2 years ago.  Tyler ends up in Louisiana and Del is still in LA trying to rebuild her life now that she's singer and a mom.  yup a mom.

Our 6th installment to the series opens up when Del has come to Tyler for help since she's being hunted by a drug lord and an ADA who's got a god complex.  She needs Tyler to protect her (their) son so that she can write her story and hopefully wrap things up.

If only life were that simple right?  Well we learn that Tyler has always had incredibly intense feelings for Del and they haven't reduced at all over the years.  Seeing her again is the only thing that potentially keeps him from chasing other women and seeing his son, a boy that he never knew about, well that just about turns his life upside down.  This is where Ms Shayla Black does  an amazing job of giving us a completely different perspective of Tyler than we ever had before.

The story from here is one of a roller coaster - trying to figure out how to get the story finished, keep everyone safe and figure out what they are to each other now.  We see the help of just about every character that we've met come into play in this story and it's a really sweet way to continue the saga.  They truly are a family who want Tyler to be happy and now Del and Seth too.

Let's just say that while there is closure on some pieces of the story, there are still so many open ended bits.  We know that all relationships can;t be fixed and that's actually ok.  We see a lot of death, injury and hints at what' to come next for some of the characters which means that this series is long lived even after a 6th book! The passion and heat between our two mains is intense per usual and that's exactly what we need to keep things going.  Where we had BDSM and kink in the last book, we have romance and emotion in this one.  A nice way to mix things up.

All in all, a great continuation and i can't wait to see what's next.  We saw an awful lot of Xander again on this book like we did in #5 so i can't wait to get to the crux of what makes him tick and hopefully his brother as well since we know there's a murder mystery there too.

  • Michelle the Romance Witch

OFG that was such a great story. Tyler and Del were great together and they were so obviously meant to be together and despite the pain and trauma they had to go through to e together in the end was seriously a lot to deal with but i enjoyed seeing them triumph in the end

I enjoyed the story and the surprise on this who did what towards the end.

    Quick Review:
    LOVED IT!!!!!!!!!

Really, loved Tyler & Delaney's story. Shayla is a wicked good author. Can't wait for Xander's book, this boy is trouble. :)

    Full Review:
    Opening Line:
“Tyler, are you aware that all the girls at Sexy Sirens have nick named you Cockzilla?”

Oh what can I say about the very naughty Tyler Murphy. Tyler is every girls dreams and their worst nightmare all rolled into one. Tyler, is a sex god but not willing to comment to any one. So he spends countless nights on random hook ups, that mean nothing but a good time. But he has never really got to the root of his problems, that is until an unexpected visitor shows up at his door and everything in Tyler’s life changes.

Delaney, is one tough cookie, but not tough enough to keep survive all these death threat. Delaney has finally reached the end of her rope and has to seek out the help of the one person she never thought she would have to ask help from. The one person that will turn her life upside down again. The one person that can break her heart, but it will be worth it just to keep her son safe. Even if that means losing her heart again.

I LOVED!!!! LOVED!!!!! LOVED!!!!! this story. I have to say a HUGE thank you to Shayla & her assistant Christie for allowing me to read this story. I loved everything about it. Tyler is such a tough guy. He acts like he has no feeling, no emotions, nothing fazes him. But in reality he is a very sensitive, loving, caring and would die for the ones he hold close. Oh and Tyler is wicked talented in bed, he didn’t get the name Cockzilla for nothing. *wiggles eyebrows*

Delaney, I really liked her character. She is not overly tough or a pushover. She has a great balance of both. She really makes Tyler work hard for her and he does. These two are such a fun couple to watch. Now while their story may have started a little unconventionality the love that these two share is unbreakable.

Shayla has written another WONDERFUL story. If you have read any of Shayla’s other Wicked Lovers book you know just how wicked her writing is. Well Tyler has some tricks up his sleeves. Hint: It has to do with a wall.

I would highly, highly recommend this series to anyone (unless you are fate at heart). If you have not started this series you really need too. Each book can be read as a stand alone. But reading from the beginning will give you a better understand of all the characters. Which Shayla does a great job of bring back in each book.

Again HUGE thank you to Shayla & Christie for letting me read and review. And now I am dying for Xander’s book...This boy is going to be great fun to read.
