As a genre, science fiction is difficult to define. So, perhaps the best definition is also the broadest: science fiction as a genre deals with imaginary, but plausible and logical constructed, worlds in which the implications and consequences of cultural, environmental, and scientific change and innovation are explored. With its limitless potential for world-building -- and real world influence --science fiction is also a genre rich in possibility for Pagan authors and readers alike, but one which has been sadly neglected.
With "The Shining Cities", we add one more to that short list of works. In these pages you will find tales that run the gamut from humorous to ecological to anthropological to time travel to space fantasy to space opera to steampunk. It is our hope that "The Shining Cities" will be only the most recent addition to an ever-growing catalogue of Pagan science fiction.
The Shining Cities: An Anthology of Pagan Science Fiction Reviews

As an avid science fiction reader and a Pagan, I looked forward to getting my hands on this book. I was not disappointed. While there is a wide variety of science fiction tales, they were all worth reading. The majority of them I would like for the authors to revisit their tales, to expand or continue the tale. I was so sorry when each story came to an end. The stories are well written and very engaging. I hope that this is the first in a long line of science fiction anthologies from Bibliotheca Alexandrina.
(FYI, while I am on the Board of Directors for BA, I had no hand in producing this book. Neither do I have any works within it. Proceeds from all BA books are given to select charities or funneled into producing new works. No authors were paid for their contributions.) -
Awesome read! Loved each new story as I came to it, earnestly hope that perhaps one day some will be fleshed out into their own works. Highly recommended!
