Wow! I love this book! It teaches all the differing forms of emotional abuse, how that presents in the present, (even when abuse occured in childhood) & what you can do about it to heal. There are so many different forms that I have tried to put my finger on in previous years, but without knowing how to say what I wanted to say, I ended up saying nothing at all, or to have my abusers rub it in my face that they could treat me however they wanted to. Even when I did protest, I didn't fully know how to say what I was protesting to ... until now.

Now I get it! Now I know how it has affected my life & how to see the resulting signs! I love that this book avoids the blame game yet teaches you so many various ways to choose how to move forward with hope, to recover, & to heal. To make the changes necessary to become the child of God that He himself created me to be. Because when we face the truth & acknowledge it, true change can happen.

I couldn't recommend this book enough for anyone who has self esteem issues, self-confidence issues, or anxiety, anger, guilt, or shame issues. This very well may be the link that shows you how to be set free.

Gregory L. Jantz, PhD, opens the reader’s eyes to the realities of emotional abuse in Hope & Healing from Emotional Abuse. Society’s pervasive view of abuse is that it’s physical. But Jantz helps us recognize the harm verbal put-downs, controlling and confusing actions, and neglect inflict on us. And when those happen early in life, the effects reverberate throughout adulthood.

This book is rich and revealing, as well as helpful for healing.

    What a helpful book!

This book gives a good explanation of people's different behaviors, and helps in understanding ourselves and others. Lately I just find these kind of self-help books kind of depressing though. So this book is a good "information download", but didn't leave me feeling better or empowered.
