This book takes the view that Onesimus was empancipated. I have been reading through various commentaries on Philemon and I thought I take a look at this too, since the forward was written by a former professor of apologetics at Old Fuller Seminary. This is book was written in 1939 and revised in 1948, quite old one may say. Gaebelein could have elaborated more and provide arguments for why he believed Onesimus was empancipated.
