Elizabeth Blackwell is my favorite lady in history. She was the first female doctor, and the story of her struggle is phenomenal. I started doing book reports on her when I was probably 10 or 11, and I fell in love with women's history because of her. I love that her sister became the second female doctor, once she saw that her big sis could do it.

Someone once told me that it was a good idea to read a children's book about a particular subject to help determine how much you really want to know about that subject. If the kid's book gives enough information, then stop there. If not, then read a more lengthy adult book on the subject. after reading this book I am eager to learn more about Elizabeth Blackwell.

This was a great book about Elizabeth Blackwell. Told as a story it included many facts. My daughter enjoyed learning what her childhood was like. Lots of details and just the right length.
