Jed Gentry is doing just fine, thank you very much, running his tattoo studio in Austin, Texas. So what if people think he’s a bit on the surly side? He’s been burned by his ex who sticks around to torture him and he lives with a family heartache that he’d rather not talk about. But he’s got a thriving business, his dream car, and good friends. Not much to complicate things. At least, not until she walked in…
Kyle O’Neill has had it with being the sheltered daddy’s girl at the family accounting firm and is ready to spread her wings and fly on her own for the first time. Unfortunately, it seems she’s about to fall flat on her face when her first and only client is – gulp -- a tattoo artist! Her country club upbringing certainly hasn’t prepared her for this place or the sizzling attraction her traitorous body feels for the grumpy owner.
But there is a Divine conspiracy at work here pushing these two together. And they are hell bent on bucking the Heavenly plan all the way. Luckily, their angel is a true believer and pulls every trick he knows from under his halo to make this a match made in Heaven.
Who says God doesn’t have a sense of humor?

I grabbed this expecting just a little bit of fluff. I was pleasantly surprised by the depth of characters I found, as well as the humor and a solid story.

I loved the angels and their AA meetings. They were a lot of fun and funny to boot. They all felt a little naive and well meaning. You could really imagine them bumbling through their missions and meeting almost miraculous or divinely inspired success. Oh, and poor Uri! Having said that I loved them, and I did, they did get a little preachy on occasion. They're angels after all. But it was never so blatant that the book slipped over into prosthelytizing and religious fiction in the stricter sense. As a non-Christian I was never made uncomfortable by it, but I would imagine a committed Christian looking for an inspirational read to underscore the omnipotent, loving altruism of the Holy Father would be happy with it too.

I did think that in the end everything wrapped up a little too well. All of a sudden, and for no apparent reason, Kyle's over bearing and self-absorbed mother decides to make peace. Kyle suddenly becomes strangely emotive and confesses seemingly out of nowhere despite being emotionally shut down just days before. Michael at least bends a commandment to give Jed a kick in the right direction, even though he showed every inclination of being a rule follower until that moment. Charles isn't mad in the least when he finds out the truth. One character jumped from denial strait to eternal commitment and marriage, while another suddenly finds herself contrite after years of being otherwise. I realise that if you haven't read the book these examples make little sense, but you can probably imagine their context and while they brought about a wonderful happy ending, they didn't really feel very natural.

I'm so glad book two is about Noble. I found him an intriguing character, which is saying something since he was practically mute. All in all, I got more than I bargained for out of this one and would be more than happy to read more of Ms. Allen's writing. If for no other reason than to see how many more small religious exclamations she can come up with. They were a lot of fun and made for an interesting running joke.

I was a little disappointed in this one. I was expecting much more than what I got. I was thinking pierced and tattooed bad boy, heck yeah! The book itself was written well but Kyle and Jed were never really together in the book. Really not much else to say about this one, just didn't make much of an impression on me I guess.

This was a really cute and sweet story. I loved that angels played match makers,(of course that is the job that he is assigned to fulfill). Love matches between soul mates. Michael was so sweet. Here he is this huge biker looking bald guy covered in tats and he is a complete marshmallow. It was great! Jeb was a serious grouch. I loved his reaction to Kyle when she walks into his tattoo shop. She is all prim and proper. So he nicknames her "Little Miss Muffit". And it stuck through the whole book. This wasn't instant love either. It took a long time for these two to even get along. Of course we have Michael there nudging them along the way.

I thought this was a feel good book that was light hearted and made me laugh and smile. But of course there were bumps along the way too just for a little drama. Cant wait to read about Michael's next assignment with Jeb's best friend Noble.

GUYS. This is one of those books that made me almost giddy. I was in a good mood for the two days (I slept a lot, otherwise I would have finished sooner) I was reading this. Ohh, man, this one made me happy.

But HOLD UP. Let's back up a bit. Inked by an Angel. Interesting title, right? What does ink have to do with angels? Whaaaat?!?! I was intrigued by this, too. Thus, I read the book. Well. Thus, I got the book on my Kindle to review. Then, one day I just COULD NOT decide what to read next and was flipping through the books on my Kindle and sccidentally clicked on this one. It was already on the first page (because that's what I do when I download books--open them to the first page, then let them sit until I'm ready for them), and I caught a glance at that first page and--I kid you not--I was hooked from there. I started ACTUALLY reading the book, and, like, two days later, I finished the book and happy-danced around my brother's living room.

Yeah. This was one of THOSE. One of those books that I was the boring chick sitting on my brother's couch while everyone else was...I don't even know. Watching some funny movie? I think that's it. Or maybe they were talking about something. I can't remember. All I know is that I poored my time into this one and was very greatly rewarded.

    Character Rundown:
Kyle: Kyle is a girl and I think her name is kickass. I also think it is seriously cool that she's something of a "nerd" with such a kickass name. Unexpected things make me happy. Or at least, unexpected things like that. I love being surprised in a good way by characters, and Kyle did that. She had a backbone that most female characters with her personality traits would be lacking. Her strength was fantastic to watch--and then watch GROW, if you can believe it. Kyle was just plain awesome.

Jed: Awww, my boy. He was a surprising character, too. Where Kyle showed strength that got me, it was Jed's moments of vulnerability that got me here. Don't get me wrong, Jed didn't have a lot of sobbing, weak moments. But he had a few moments where he didn't do what I expected and he was sweeter, or maybe it was only his THOUGHTS that were sweeter, when we were in his POV, and that sweetness...it gets me.

Plot. I truly enjoyed Shauna Allen's depiction of angels and their duties. I think it was cool that there were particular ones to be "cupids". I also enjoyed seeing how the angels' missions intertwined as the story progressed. That definitely through in some factors that caught me off guard in the very best way.

Romance. With two kickass (in spirit, not LITERAL ass-kicking) characters like Jed and Kyle, how could the romance not be just PERFECT? Because, let me tell you, it is. I did not like how slow it prgressed, though. I mean, it was THERE throughout the whole book, but it took forever to move from step to step. Once they reached sweetness, though, I was smiling through and through.

The ending. I'm not going to say I was surprised. I was actually surprised. Not by Jed and Kyle, but by Michael and what is going to be next for him. I'm also supremely excited to see that played out in the sequel!

Overall, Shauna Allen has written a marvelous story that had me hooked from the first page and left me excited for more by the end. I will most definitely be pickin gup the sequel, and I suggest you pick up this book--if you haven't already--and catch up!

Wow so I don't even know where to start with this book...

Jeb Gentry runs a tattoo shop. He loves him job, his car, and his employees well most of them anyway. Not his ex-girlfriend who walks around the shop flirting anything that moves and shoving the fact that Jeb and her used to be in a relationship and that she owns half the business because of it in his face, daily. When a girl comes into his shop looking like one of the most uptight people he's ever seen and asking for Mike one of his workers he's intrigued.

Kyle O' Neill has be contained and controlled her entire life. She's worked hard to get to the top only to be rejected by her father, her boyfriend doesn't know her, and everyone in her family thinks she's playing a game with her life to pass the time as she leaves her fathers firm and sets out on her own. When her ventures lead her to Jeb's tattoo shop she doesn't know what to think of Jeb or his business.

While both parties seem to be annoyed by each others presence there is a reason they met. Micheal is a angel of Heaven and his job is to bring these two people together. Too bad Jeb and Kyle's obstacles of getting together keep becoming more and more complicated. When everything finally seems to be coming together as Jeb invites Kyle to the late for the weekend to relax and work everything seems to be perfect. But when emotions run high and after a freak accident it seems Kyle and Jeb will never be together. It's up to Micheal to pull every trick her has for them to finally overcome the past so they can move on to the future, together.

    Characters:
Kyle is honestly hilarious and so easily relate-able. Most of the book she is unsure of who she is or what she wants from life. Her life has always been planned out for her, and a lot of this book as she sets out on her own she comes to realize who she is and what she wants rather than what everyone else wants for her.

Jeb...well most of the book is a sexy a-hole. He's mocking, crude, and drop dead sexy and I couldn't help but fall in love with him as a character as well. He's had his heart broken and has some major trust issues not only with other people but also himself as well. He is honestly an easily relate able character because I think I can honestly say that after I've been hurt I never want to trust anyone or do to someone what has been to do you. So he struggles a lot with how the past has affected him and while easily relate-able it's also like "COME THE BLEEP ON!?!?!"

Okay so I love this book. Honestly this book was freaking amazing. I couldn't put it down, even though I was supposed to be studying for a test that I had the next day. Oops. Totally worth it though. Inked by and Angel is hilarious and real. I loved the characters and the entire story was just great. Shauna Allen is an amazing writer and I can not wait to read more of her work. This book is told in both Kyle's and Jeb's P.O.V. along with Micheal's at some points. I honestly hope that EVERYONE picks up a copy of this amazing book and I think it's one that anyone could like.

Sometimes you just need a charming, wonderful love story to relax with and enjoy and Inked By An Angel is just that book. I was thoroughly taken in with the book. It takes the familiar concept of 2 seemingly opposites, straight-laced CPA Kyle and tattooed, pierced Jed, finding love with each other and adding a twist in the form of an angel (who happens to be disguised as a big, intimidating tattoo artist) who's duty it is to see these 2 people find their way to each other. What ensues is a story filled with charm, humor, and heart.

It can be very easy for a story such as this to venture in the realm of hard-to-swallow-saccharine-sweetness, but Allen does a very good job of balancing the lightheartedness with the personal conflicts of our main couple. It's a love story, but it's also a story about Kyle getting out from under her family's influence (i.e. her mother's belief of knowing what's best for her) and setting out on her own and also a story about Jed overcoming the heartbreaking effects from his last relationship. These conflicts really humanized Kyle and Jed, making them very endearing characters. I especially was quite taken with Jed. Behind is intimidating appearance (tall, bald, facial piercings, and tattoos), he's every bit of a gentleman his mother raised him to be and, for the piece de resistance, he is totally devoted to caring for his widowed mother. Add some charm and sex appeal, you have a very dangerous package.

I can't go through with this review without giving props to Michael, our designated angel/cupid. He was just so sweet and so earnest in trying to set our headstrong couple together. He was a great supporting character. He was so endearing in his worry about losing his position as a matching making angel and possibly getting demoted. If nothing else you just want Kyle and Jed to get together so Michael can keep his job.

This book is reminiscent of the familiar love story (i.e. romantic misunderstandings, meddling family members, unwanted suitor, stubborn opposites who are attracted to one another), but it doesn't mean that it isn't a book worth reading. This book has a certain charm that will grab you and keep you interested to see it through. It is a great blend of humor, sexiness, sweetness, and heart that will make you smile. And in my opinion, any book that can make me smile, is one I will happily dig into.

  • Gillian (Tattooed Book Review)

A well-written, clever romance with a twist, Inked by an Angel reminds us that love exists in the unlikeliest places, and that we may need a “guardian angel” to help us find what was meant to be all along.

An unlikely romantic match for the conservative Kyle, Jed is the perfect tattoo artist “bad-boy”: all intimidating ink and piercings on the outside, sensitive artist on the inside. The author succeeds in showing his vulnerability, but never takes away the edge that makes him so sexy. The relationship slowly builds momentum, with plenty of up and down drama, to the point where I nearly cheered out loud when they finally arrived on the same page.

An easy read, with relatable characters, a touch of humor, and just enough heartache. I’m looking forward to reading more in this series!

    * I was provided a copy of the book by BTS eMag for purpose of an honest review. I was not compensated for this review – all conclusions are my own responsibility.

They say opposites attract, but when a three-hundred pound, biker Cupid gets his next assignment, he has his work cut out for him. Can he convince a surly tattoo artist and an uptight accountant that theirs is a match made in Heaven? And if he can’t, will he get his wings clipped?

Shauna Allen gives us a unique, updated twist on Cupid and the problems he faces. And she does it with a sassy humor that warms the heart and the funny bone at the same time. I can't wait for Cupid's next adventure

The prolog grabbed my attention, and the characters held it. I loved the chemistry between Jed and Kyle. I found myself crying one minute and laughing aloud the next.

I recommend this book as a good and fun read.

    My Review

    Kyle is a lost soul.
Jed is a hardnosed bad boy that was hurt and won’t allow it to happen again.
Michael is a cupid angel tattoo artist with a mission.
Overall this was a great book that I couldn’t put down until I was finished. I enjoyed the multiple story lines and the build up to the end.
The love story between Jed and Kyle was as sweet as it was frustrating. But I have to say my favorite part of the book is when Jed sends Kyle aspirin and a Coke when she has a headache at the country club. A guy that does something so selfless has a place in my romantic heart any day of the week.
    Great story of opposites attracting.

    Liked:

Honestly, I couldn't put this book down. I thought it was a great read. Love the cluelessness of Michael and the honesty of a coming of age type of story for Kyle. Jed was the quintessential hurt before you get hurt bad boy. Enjoyed his hard exterior with the loving son and gentlemen beneath.

    Disliked:

I thought there would be more hot scenes’. However, that being said the buildup was wonderfully written, not sure who wanted the payoff at the end more the reader or Kyle. ;)
I thought the storyline with Rome was unnecessary I understand she was showing her independence and therefore needed to do something just for her but it felt forced. She wanted a beach wedding and to have her going somewhere with a beach would have fit the story better.
The mind jumping was abrupt and I had to go back a couple of times because there was no indication that a point of view had changed from Kyle to Jed.

    Overall

Overall this was a fun read. The love story between Kyle and Jed was based in reality with the fun of a somewhat at times bumbling cupid angel. This great part of the story was the opposites attract story line. As well as the coming of age story of Kyle. Fun and interesting cast of characters, I will be reading more from this author in the future.

    ??Recommend??

Great book for anyone looking for a fun read with a plethora of great characters. Wonderful and heart warming love story.

    Rating:

I am giving Inked By and Angel 4 out of 5 stars.

I must admit, when I started this book, I expected it to be a run of the mill, fluffy romance that was predictable and like most others books of this genre. It wasn't, not completely.

Yes, it was fluffy, but isn't that we read this genre? Yes it was a little predictable, but again, that is the genre. Run of the mill... no.

The added plot of the angels being behind the romances within was a novel twist that I thoroughly enjoyed.

Decently paced and easy to read, I read the entire book in a little over 3 hours and didn't once feel I was being short changed by the author. She kept me guessing with certain aspects of the story, such as the back history between Jed and Kierstan.

The relationship between Jed and Kyle is a slow burn which doesn't affect the pace of the story as it feels realistic and believable due to the vast differences between them, even though they are more similar than first appear.

The AA meetings were my favourite parts of the book as they provided much humour and I felt Michael and his friend's frustrations at their assignments not quite going to plan.

A solid read and I will look out for more by this author.

okay, i'll be totally honest, the reason I picked this one?, it had a tattoo artist as the male lead....don't know what it is....anyway, ahem, Jed is the guy in question, he's grumpy, shaved head, tattoos aplenty, in sweeps Kyle, timid accountant, she's breaking out on her own for the first time, and Jed's Tattoo parlour is her first job as freelance accountant, she starts working for Michael, (little surprise there), one of the artists at the parlour and slowly becomes embroiled with goings on and characters that frequent the place, little does she know that there are plans afoot to bring Jed and Kyle together...I thought the relationship between Jed & Kyle was really sweet, and written well, although I could of smacked Jed round the head a few times, but when you read, you realise why he is the way he is. there are plenty of additional characters that add to the story, Noble (Jed's best friend), Kierstan (Jed's ex), Charlie, (Kyle's boyfriend), Bethany (Kyle's best friend and Steve (her neighbour, he sounded yum), loved the two mums, words of wisdom, although not always welcomed!, happily, the next book in the series is about Noble, will definately look that one up.

  • Dena

I came upon this book when it was free on amazon and I was quite impressed with it.

I fell in love with the characters. Kyle is sick of the country club scene, she wants to branch out and not live underneath her father's eye. That is how she comes across Michael an angel who puts souls together in a match for love.

Michael is down on his luck and doesn't understand why he is still playing matchmaker. He feels useful and wants to do more. As he muddles through with Kyle and Jed he realizes how useful he really is.

Jed has had it rough with love. He thinks it is horrible and wants nothing to do with it after his failed relationship with Keirsten. He has seen what happens when loved ones die and doesn't want to be involved in another relationship until Kyle arrives.

As the story unfolds we already know they are going to be together with the prologue which I thought was weird. I wanted it to come about not in my face. Anyways, I enjoyed the characters and the story but I am on the fence about anymore of this series.

Alright, this was a very different experience for me and those that REALLY know me, know I love new and different! Inked by an Angel is fun, funny, romantic, magical and deeply touching, soul deep actually. A definite must read for all fans of the genre!

Jed is deeply scarred for many reasons. Most being loss throughout his life. He has lost a lot in his life. Including the ability to love and trust another. Well all except for his mother. From the first day he meets Kyle, he finds he wants to try and love once again. But can he?

Kyle just wants to live her life the way she wants to. No dictations, orders or forced direction from her family. She’s had enough of it all. So she makes her move, a couple of moves actually and they all bring her more than she ever thought possible.

It’s a very rocky road for Jed and Kyle but so very worth it! I look forward to the rest of the series and much more from the author :)

    This book was just fun!

A bookish woman becomes the CPA for a tattoo artist and falls for the shops surly owner. Said surly owner starts to return her feelings but fights it the whole way. Little do they know there is divine intervention going on in the form of her client...who's really the angel Michael in disguise and there to help them fall in love.

Did I mention she's already engaged to a Jr. VP at her fathers Accounting firm because she knows that's what her country club loving parents want? Or that his sexy, sultry ex still works at the tattoo parlor and constantly throws herself at him in front of her? They both have painful baggage but can they see past it to find happiness with each other?

There were tons of laughs, lots of sexual tension and interesting extras in the two other couples that get paired up in this novel! Can't wait to read book 2 about Noble, another tattoo artist at the shop...and hopefully a revisit with Jed and Kyle!!!!

  • Beth Cutwright

I have wanted to read Inked by an Angel for some time now. Let me just say, this did not disappoint!!! The premise of the book was quite unique and enjoyable, the characters personable and brilliant and even the less favorable characters were allowed to grow and redeem themselves. My favorite character was the angel Michael, big and burly and loveable! Do you want to read a love story? How about two or three love stories within a love story? Do you want a fun and feel good story? Do you want to read about damaged people who grow in character and trust? Then this is a must read for you! I'd rate this as a five out of five winks for just pure pleasure! Oh yeah! Thanks Shauna.....can't wait til May and the second in the series!

  • Lisa

The story between Kyle & Jed is amazing! I LOVE THEM! It is really a great story.

I LOVE this book! I couldn't put the book down.

I also like the secondary characters. Loved Michael, Noble, the angels and Jed's mother! Who could imagine - one book with a sexy tattooed guy and angels! It is really amazing.

I was angry, laughed, cried, swooned. It was heartwarming. It was also sexy.

I'm can't wait to read about Noble. I look forward to reading more from Shauna Allen.

I highly recommend this book - if I could give it more than 5 stars - I would. Inked by an Angel is definitely one of my favorite books!

  • ╰⊱♥⊱╮ღ꧁Kathy,Ahmazing Book Faerie꧂ღ╭⊱♥≺

I started this with an idea in my head of what it was going to be about, from what I saw on the cover.
It started reading, and thought Mmmm, yeah, ok ,its a girly girl silly romance and maybe I'll read on Maybe I wont.
Well, that didn't last for long!!
    I loved it!

What great characters, and what a great plot. Not at all what I was expecting, and I'm kicking myself now, for having left it sit, unread, on my kindle for so long! I will, for sure, be looking for more work by Shauna Allen.

A different take on romance,a lighthearted easy read, with a bit of drama thrown in for good measure. No overdone romance or drama, just a really good story, with a nice twist to it.

  • ⚜️XAR the Bookwyrm

I was rather pleasantly surprised by this book! Its a rather sweet romance with a hint of a wild side centered around the Heavenly angels operating as a sort of Christian version of Cupid. It was definitely an interesting twist! All of the characters were easy to connect to, and the book kinda did a slow "suck you into the plot" kind of thing. While it was a very interesting and enjoyable story, it didn't really have that rabid "You must read this book, NOW!" quality for me, and I blame that in part on how secretive everyone was. It's understandable on the angel's part, but for all the characters? Nah, not really necessary. All in all, a good way to spend a Sunday afternoon.

  • Chris

    Love Angels

I love this book it was so heartfelt..

I would recommend this book to anybody over the age of 18 due to the sexual content. If you're into good romance this is an excellent book is also heart touching .at the situations that happen. I really thought that this book was one of the better books that I have read that had multiple romances going on at the same time.

One of the best parts were the angels in this book where they really do a wonderful job in making the romances come to life. I just have to say Angel Michael was really great part of this book. I know he was the main part of the angels but all the angels were good in this book.

    Happy reading!

  • Alicia

I really, really enjoyed this book. I could not put it down and when I had to, I was constantly wondering what was going to happen next. It focuses mainly on there relationship and it's definitely not all about sex, which is what I thought when I first got it. I love Jed and Kyle's (female characters name)relationship and how it builds with out them really realizing it. Michael is there cupid and the some of the stuff he does in the book to get them together is hilarious. I found myself laughing when it was funny and heartbroken and crying when it angsty. It continues on with Jed's best friend being the next book and I look forward to reading Noble's story.

  • Anna-marie

I really enjoyed this. It is a lighthearted story of cupid (the loveable Michael) trying to match up a couple that you would never dream of matching. Jed & Kyle.

I was drawn in anyway, as the Main Squeeze (Jed) is a Tattoo Artist. Kyle is an accountant. It made me laugh out loud a few times, and growl at Kyle's idiotic ex.

Shauna Allen draws you into the characters & their stories effortlessly, and you really want them to get together.

Very enjoyable to read, I'm looking forward to starting the 2nd book.

  • Shelly Wygant

This was a great read. I loved the characters. They seemed to be total opposites but not so much. I loved that in this book the female character knows that she does not want to be the person that her family wants her to be. She strikes out on her own and continues on her path to happiness. On the other hand the male characters thinks he knows what he wants but has a problem seeing it. The angel part of the story just completes the book. The writing just flows well and Shauna makes you invested in the story line and characters.

  • Laura

Surprising great wee read. Kyle is cute, quite and living herself as her mum wants her to and not herself. Jed is lovely, tattoo covered and hot trying to care for his mum and get over a bad relationship that won't go away....So two very unlikely soulmates!

However a little Devine intervention and a opportunity to work in Jed's tattoo parlour and sparks fly. After a some denial of their feelings things finally come together.

  • Marran

This was a great read..likeable characters, the angels was a funny "twist"..a bit of a bumpy ride near the end and I didn't really catch the time affect on that, was it weeks, months? and her mothers drastic turn of tone..huh... other then that it was a great read and Im looking forward to the next one

  • Meagan Hunt

Though different than most books I'm used to, this had to be on of the best books I've read in a while and I probably say that about a lot of the books I read but it's true. I loved Jed and Kyle together, though both unusual names, there story together/apart/past was really good and well written. Definitely deserves all 5 stars. Now it's time to go buy and read the sequel.

  • Dawn

I LOVED this book! it kind of reminded me of the movie Michael. I usually don't read books with angels or anything like that but I figured I would give it a few chapters and I was hooked! I loved the fact that these characters weren't the typical Ken and barbie characters. can't wait to read the others in this series!!
