Now that she is compelled to remain in the mansion, trapped with a host who was only pleasant to her in a shared fantasy, the dream abruptly turns sour.
Under other circumstances, she might enjoy staying in an opulent guest suite, with a butler waiting on her every desire. But her cage, as gilded as it may be, remains a prison, and her host, even if he wishes she were gone, is still her warden.
As she struggles to get used to the situation, she can’t figure out what to think of Morgan Ward, a man who claims to be a vampire, who at times ignores her and at times shows himself unexpectedly thoughtful. A man she’s attracted to despite her better judgment.
However, an unexpected conversation with her boss may give her no choice but to get much closer to Morgan than she’s ready for…

My Reluctant Warden Reviews

Wow
Wow, I have another favorite Author. This is the second book in the series, it's as good as the first. I am loving this series. I am starting book three now, I hope I can read them all tonight, and not fall asleep. -
Favorite Line “It took centuries or more to perfect each flower. And they will continue to evolve when both of us are long gone.”
What started as a night dreams are made of has turned into a nightmare! Angelina is not officially stuck in Morgan's home until his sister (the have the same maker) removes the compulsion she has placed on her.
She can not leave his home without her that's what she said and now that's what Angelina must do!
Morgan is not the nicest man in to live with! The only time she enjoys his company is when he uses compulsion on her.
She wants that Morgan!! Loving this series!
I was given this book in exchange for an honest review
FOUR WARDEN FAIRIES -
1.5
Far, far too little progression for almost 100 pages and part of a serial; no where near enough to tempt me into the next installment. I forgave the 'it only happened in a dream' once, in the first episode, pulling it a second time was cheap and unsatisfying. Not to mention how very very jarring it was to go from the two of them clashing to the two of them being polite and flirtatious. I thought the woo-her-with-your-wealth trope was distasteful and again with the random endings. -
This review will cover the first 2 installments in this delightfully entertaining series which according to the author will consist of 5 or 6 books to be released approximately every 60 days so the reader won’t be waiting 6 month or more for a release.
In Ward of the Vampire we are introduced to the main characters in this story. Angelina has worked for Delilah for 5 years and has done many strange things for her without question … at least she thinks she never questioned them.
Miss Delilah is the sister of Ward Morgan (the requisite billionaire we seem to see all too often these days in PNR) and has seen something in Angelina that she believes will be of equal interest to Morgan (the obvious “Ward” of these titles in case you were dropped on your head as a small child).
The story begins innocently enough with a typical work day of Angelina working for the professional but eccentric Delilah. The party of the year is going to be the birthday bash for Morgan Ward and only the cream of society will be getting invitations but through a series of events I won’t be telling here in the review, Angelina gets to be the “and guest” with Delilah.
At this point the readers are still unaware of what is to come and I won’t spoil much of it except to say that the instructions Angelina receives from Delilah when they arrive “Be nice to my brother when you see him, and don’t you dare leave without me” take on a much darker and frightening meaning as the story progresses from here.
Since I HATE reviewers who tell you too much story in reviews, let me say that there are a couple of life threatening moments in the story during these two short books and what seems to be a very slowly developing romance. The problem is that Angelina is never sure what is real and what are her own desires become fantasy.
This is a great story which the author has decided to give to us in small portions and while it might be frustrating for a few weeks at most it will make the impact on your purse/wallet much lighter.
Bottom Line: This is an EXCELLENT story and these 2 books just give us the beginning of what I expect to be a great romance and hopefully a bit of mystery and action since there are things happening outside Ward’s mansion that are not clear yet but which will have an impact on this story. 4 Stars rather than 5 mainly because this book gives us a deeper picture of each of the couple while not really moving the story along very much but this was necessary since this story so far is character driven and has relied very little on any action other than him having to save her from his sister. -
“Don’t leave without me, “ she’d said. “Not tonight. Not ever.”
Funny how much difference a simple statement like that can make. In Ward of the Vampire, we met all of our major players: Angelina, Morgan Ward, and Delilah. My Reluctant Warden is more focused on Morgan and Angelina. It takes place a few hours later. Angelina is pretty much a prisoner in the mansion. No more sunshine, or even moonlight. No grass or even outdoors. No running to the corner store…or anywhere. Reality is starting to set in.
I love the conspiratorial, and sometimes humorous, tone that Angelina takes with the reader. At times it’s like she is talking to us in hushed tones. At others its like her inner monologue is going. A bit more of her own personality comes out in this edition, and I like the girl. She tries to be good, to behave, to make the most of it – but something about Morgan. Ugh! He brings out the snark in this lady – and I love it!
Morgan, despite his cold and indifferent demeanor, is actually quite caring and compassionate. He definitely shows this by retrieving Angelina’s things and also providing a little impromptu shopping adventure for her. But aside from all of that, Angelina’s confusion laced with fear mixes with Morgan’s irritation and apprehension creating a volatile cocktail.
If you read the first book, you know that everything isn’t always as it seems. That also happens to be the case in this book, and I couldn’t have enjoyed it any more than if it were me in Angelina’s place! This is a page turner, for sure.
You know, I recently reviewed On The Edge by Kallysten. I got to read all 10 editions at once, no waiting. I didn’t realize how lucky I was then. Because now, as I wait for the next book out in this series of episodes, if you will, the wait will absolutely drive me mad!
I have to know – will Angelina get free? Will she fall for Morgan? Will Morgan fall for her? And just why is he being so standoffish? And what the fuck is going on with Delilah? That’s some wicked sense of humor she’s got there. I’ve got one piece of advice for dear Angelina – stay away from the computer!
Oh, and we also get to know Stephen, Morgan’s butler, a bit. He is quite the character, and I really feel there is more story there than we know just yet. His loyalty is unwaivering, and yet he is human. I need to know, what gives? -

Lecture toute une Aventure
My opinion:
I appreciate the fact that the author took what the readers said into account. If you remember my review of the first part “ Ward of the Vampire”, I liked the story but I regretted it was so short and ended with a cliffhanger since I really don’t like them.
My reluctant Warden is different, the story is still well written and the plot interesting but this time the difference between fantasy part, when Angelina is dreaming, and the event when she is awake are really well differentiated. You can’t confuse them anymore and I think that at this time of the story it’s a good thing. As Angelina learn more about the vampires and their specificities so do the reader .I enjoyed this way to discover more about Morgan. In this story we can see how thoughtful he can be, so kind and it the same time he can be so distant… I get the feeling he is afraid of something.
Angelina is trying to find how to act with Morgan because she is starting to understand that she isn’t the only one suffering so her anger against her Warden is abating. I enjoy the character of Stephen and I hope we will learn more about him, how he came to work for Morgan and discovered he was a vampire etc.
Now the good news ^^ proof that good authors are attentive to their readers… this books is longer, nearly the double of part 1, and there isn’t a cliffhanger!! It’s not the end of the book so it’s still an open ending in a way but no need to get anxious or stress it’s a good place to make a break until the next part is released. Also there was more humour in this second part and i often had a little smile while turning the pages.
You want a paranormal romance with steamy scene but slowly building relationship? This is a excellent book for you then.
Score: 4,5/5 -
Three sentences, eight words, spoken by Miss Delilah Stanford sealed Angelina’s fate.
“Don’t leave without me,” she’d said. “Not tonight. Not ever.”
Although I loved to be teased…this author is pushing her luck (lol); I do not consider myself a patient person – WRITE FASTER. It has not been that long since I read the first installment,
Ward of the Vampire, but I could not help myself I re-read it prior to starting
My Reluctant Warden. This is a serial story, and while the reader can read this part as a standalone I do not recommend it; you will be left wondering how Angelina became captive in Morgan’s home.
The first person account is remarkably well-written; like reading Angelina’s diary. Considering the very short length all of the characters are incredibly well-developed. The world that
Kallysten has created is filled with a realistic desire, ultimate fantasies, and sinful chocolate cake.

Rating: 4 1/2 stars
This continues book one of the Ward of the Vampire series. This is a book that you could read by itself but I don't recommend it. If you want to know how Angelina ends up where she is in this book, you have to read Ward of the Vampire.
This book picks up at the party Angelina goes to with her boss Miss Delilah. The birthday boy, Morgan (Miss Delilah is his sister) is not happy at this moment. Angelina and Morgan are a reluctant couple. He's a sexy vampire that doesn't like to have his life decided for him.
This is another one of her books that just went by too quickly. I just got started and it was over. To my delight, Kallysten has book three coming out in July. If you want to read more of Kallysten's work, just stop by her web site,
http://kallysten.net/, to see what else you may want to read.
My Reluctant Warden has it all. Kallysten treats her readers well. She gives them sex, paranormal for those that like a little something different about the male character, and for those that only have a short amount of time she gives them to romance. So, make sure to mark your calendar for the month of July so you can find out what happens next for Angelina and Morgan. And I recommend that once the series is complete, go back and read each book one right after the other. -
A midpoint novella in the series - this book gives us further insight into the story even though it covers only a few short days. Angelina and Morgan are coming to understand one another, and even tolerate each other. Trying to prove that he isn't a beast, he has arranged for her needs, making her imprisonment less of a trial.
Although Delilah has managed to compel her again, upping the stakes in this forced relationship for everyone concerned.
Again Kallysten has moved us into a delicate dance of compulsion and desire, and leaving us with no solid clue as to which is real and which is fantasy. Angelina's behavior alternates between bratty and adult: understandable reactions to an imprisonment and the revelations that she has been exposed to.
With nothing productive to do, and no ability to leave the house, she is claustrophobic and unsettled: attracted to the sexy man that Morgan is, even as she battles her fear about his predatory nature.
A good installment that provides us some more insight into the story and characters, while the underlying question of what will happen should Delilah return still haunts everyone.
I purchased this book for my own library, and was not compensated for this review: all conclusions are my own responsibility. -
I missed reading vampire books and was glad to see this series screaming out for me to read.
Book 1- Ward of the Vampire - 4 stars -This was a good start to the series. I had no clue that this story would end up where it did. It reads a little bit differently than I am use to. I can't wait to see what's next.
Book 2 - My Reluctant Ward - 3 stars - This part starts off where book one left off with a small recap. This book gives us more information but also leaves us with unanswered questions. I enjoyed this part of the story a little more than the first. It still eaves me looking forward to the next part of the story.
Book 3- Awkward Holiday - 3 stars- The holiday portion of this story was done well. So far I've liked reading this story but the "vampire" part has only shown itself by compulsion and fantasy. Well, also notice of the famous Black Mug. No history or biting as of yet then all the sudden we finally get to it! His speed, his age, the vampire nails.
Book 4- The Cowards Way Out - 4 stars- Now we have finally arrived to some good information. Wow- and its intense! It took a long time to get here but I'm glad to finally know more!
Book 5 - Homeward - 4 stars - Great ending to the story. Take a trip to Hawaii while trying to work out a relationship issue -sure thing! -
This is part two in the series and continues about same place the last book stops at.
Angelina is mentally trapped in Mr. Ward's home after the hypnotic suggestion that her employer, Delilah place on her. Angelina is a gift (an unwanted one, to boot.) of sorts for Mr. Ward from his sister Delilah. Unable to locate Delilah, Mr. Ward has went and retrieved her belongs from her apartment for her and places her in one of the rooms in his home.
Delilah has few tricks up her sleeve and tosses another suggestive hypnotic suggestion to Angelina via a Skype message. But will it be one that will allow her to leave or making her do something that neither of them wants.
And what was up with that shoe scene, what away to some women's hearts...
The story was interestingly written and the series so far is seems to be getting better with each book. I am looking forward to read the next book to see what happens next.
The book was a solid four star read.
The book I received was an ARC for an honest review, thank you. -
I love Vamps... and this vamp is no exception. This book continues where Ward of The Vampire left off. I like Angelina; she has been forced into a living arrangement, but she is making the best of it. Morgan Ward what can I say against this man, he is your McDreamy and McSteamy together. Morgan for a vampire has a heart, and it's the little things he does for Angelina that makes me love him even more. Angelina and Morgan have the best sexual mind play or is it real? I will let you be the judge of that loved the Butler Stephen, and I enjoy the friendship; I see that's building between him and Angelina. Morgan and Angelina are couple that I will follow until there HEA...I hope there is a HEA, I will wait to see where the next book leads them.
One of my favorite quotes:
He tasted... Well okay,if it was a choice between his come and another slice of chocolate cake. The cake would win. But the margin would be pretty narrow -
I received this book to give an honest review.
My Reluctant Warden picks up right where book one left off. Oh my goodness Morgan Ward is just so much more yummy! Poor Angelina is slowing starting to figure everything out and is getting answers slowly. But it seems like her getting her answers is like pulling teeth! Angelina learns that she is a pawn by Mrs. Deliah, and she is not able to leave Morgan Ward's house! Now are the sex fantasies that she is having with Morgan are they real or just her mind playing tricks on her?
You have to pick up this book along with Ward of the Vampire, these are novella's so you are getting short stories! But you will find yourself just in love with Mr. Ward and his sexiness! -
OMG....Kally this man is killing me. He keeps his thoughts close to the cuff or he just disappears. Morgan is a puzzle I'm enjoying finding pieces to. Poor Angelina is confused, but she's starting to figure things out. Are her memories of being with Morgan real or just mind games? She's trying to make the best of having to stay in Morgan's home. No thanks to his sister telling her not to leave without her.
This story & the first one, Ward of the Vampire are stories that pulled me into them. I don't normally read the vampire/paranormal genres, but I have to honestly say that I'm enjoying this & I need more. These are good, short reads.
I was given this ebook for my honest review -
My Thoughts - 4 out of 5 unicorns - I really liked it!
Ok I really liked this novella that is about 67 pages, but I wished it was longer and that I was able to figure out more about Morgan. Right now I’m not sure if Angelina is just dreaming or if Morgan is bipolar. I can’t stand that I have to wait to see what happens next, but I will :) I just may whine about it! :) Kallysten writing style is easy to read, and I like characters Angelina, Morgan, and Stephen. If you like paranormal romance with an unknown element, you will really like this story. It is keeping me guessing, not sure where it will go next.
**gifted to me by the author for an honest review :) -
In The Reluctant Warden Angelina finds herself trapped in the mansion of her boss's brother by a strange order from her boss to stay in the mansion until she leaves with her. Confused by the compulsion to stay, in fact she can't move anytime she thinks of leaving, Angelina experiences a strange attraction/repulsion emotion to Ward the owner of her prison, no matter how nice it is. The expression of emotions, interaction of the characters and hot sexy scenes makes this second installment of Ward of the Vampire series just a great as the first part of the story; the question is what will happen in the rest of the story?
-
AAAAAAAAAAAAAArrggggggggh, part two of the series is where Angelina discovers that miss Deliah intended for HER to be Morgan's birthday present, and she had placed a compulsion spell on her so that she couldn't leave his mansion, then she vanished with Morgan giving chase!
Poor Angelina is being used as a pawn as brother and sister collide and she has no clue as to what's real and what's fantasy! All she knows is there are two men with opposite personalities and she wants the kind and caring Morgan to return. I can hardly wait to read the next part of the story!! -
Under other circumstances, she might enjoy staying in an opulent guest suite, with a butler waiting on her every desire.
gosh those darn cliffhangers!!!
ok not really a cliffhanger, I mean it basically ended well, but there is more to come in the story and I can't wait.
So Angelina is still stuck in the mansion of Mr. Ward, and while really not a lot is accomplished in this book, it still leaves you wanting more. I just can't wait until they both actually break down and admit to each other, that HELLO maybe I do actually want you! -
I wish I could say that I liked this book as much as I did Ward of The Vampire but I don't. I didn't like Morgan at the end of that book and I still don't. I feel he wants Angelina but thinks he can't really have her and keeps fighting it. This is only hurting Angelina all the more. But as with the last book I NEED to find out what happens next. So I have to give this book a 3* rating for keeping me intrigued.
-
I enjoyed this book. I love Angelina. I felt her emotions and her feelings towards Morgan. I still have a love/hate attitude towards Morgan. Kallysten has done a wonderful job with her characters and the story. I'm on the edge of my seat to see what happens next. I can't wait for the next book.
-
*won a copy during the Wicked Nights Scavenger Hunt
Delilah a B**** (note the capital...yeah the whole word is in caps)
I want to smack her for doing this to Angelina and Morgan because it certainly wasn't from the goodness in her heart. I feel so bad for Angelina; looking forward to the next part (actually I'm going to buy the completed book to read the whole thing in one go!!) -
When you're sick at home in bed, a good book always helps. One that makes your fever spike from steamy love scenes? Ok - probably not the most healthy and practical choice. This novella, along with its companions, are quick, fun, sexy little reads. Recommended for a "stay in bed and do nothing" kind of day.

c2013: One day, I will come across a Kindle Freebie that will be such a success that a mainline publisher will pick it up and it will become a world wide hit. This is not that book. Banal and rather ho-hum with little originality. "It was also about the two sides of the man facing me, and how conflicted I was about him."
-
This is book 2 of the Ward of the Vampire series. I was given the first book for a honest R&R and then I stalked the author for book 2 and just to give Kallysten the heads up I will be stalking for book 3. I cant wait to see if they hook up.
-
OMG ...WOW!!!!! I love this story! Ahhh.. I hate waiting! I want to know what happens! This is the 2nd part and we get to know more about Mr.Ward. My favorite part was the SHOES!! This hot hot hot! Now I must wait for part 3 :( and yes I'm pouting!
-
The expression of emotions, interaction of the characters and hot sexy scenes makes this second installment of Ward of the Vampires series just a great as the first part of the story; the question is what will happen in the rest of the story?
