The Posse
By Tawdra Kandle
I was give this book to read and review. I rated Five Stars ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
I fell in love with this book because the characters are mature and funny. Ms Kandle has created a heartwarming storyline. The dialogue is hilarious, witty, engaging and fascinating. I felt like I knew who Jude would end up with because Tawdra left little clues here and there. It was amusing to read each man step up and make their play for her. They were awkward, funny and of course one was enough to make you fall in love again.
The Posse is Jude and Logan story. Jude husband passed a year ago and "The Posse" has decided that they need to take care of her. Because they don't her to fall in love and move away from them. The Posse is a group of guys who have been friends since grade school. They are more than friends, they are family. Daniel, Jude's late husband, was a member of The Posse. They all mourn his death but they could lose Jude from their group also and they don't want too. The men come up with a plan that the three single members of the group should step up and court her. At least one of them can win her heart and she would be content to stay with them forever. The Posse is like a close knit family and they were delightful! By the end they each had someone. There will be some twrist and turns for Jude and her family in the past two years. You couldn't help but want to cry with her when more is piled on top.
This was a remarkable romance with just the right twists and turns. It was refreshing to go thru falling in love all over again. With seamless writing, a nice paced plot and characters you will love, The Posse is highly recommended ! It's only 0.99 right now, so I suggest grabbing it while you can and sinking into a love story you won't soon forget -
What an amazing story! I loved Tawdra Kandle's King Series and was surprised when I learned that she was going to write a contemporary romance novel. This story will have you thinking about you would expect to happen to you if your significant other passed away. Jude's husband Daniel, a man that she loved from childhood and had never thought to see anyone else as a potential suitor, died of cancer a year before this book takes place. These two were your picture of to people who were always meant to be, but now she has to learn to live without him. Thankfully, his group of friends, which had become hers as well, step up to make sure she's ok. She never expected though that the unmarried ones would take that to mean that they should try to take care of her in more ways than friendship. The Posse, as they called their group, made a deal to try to woo Jude and see if anyone would be a suitable fit for her as a companion, possibly even lover. The first half of the story is about their attempts at figuring out if anyone can actually think of Jude as more than their best friend's widow or as a sister. The second half will have you grinning and crying from the obstacles that face Jude and her friends. It's such a touching story that I couldn't put it down. It's extremely believable. Honestly, I can only hope that my friends (or my husband's) would be so nice as to think of me like the Posse thought of Jude. We actually have a group of friends like the one in the book, so it's possible that it could happen. That just made this book touch home even more for me. I loved it.

The Posse
By: Tawdra Kandle
Jude is still hurting a year after her husband Daniel died. Her business and her college aged kids are helping her to keep everything together. She's not looking for much, she just wants to enjoy her off time and keep on her schedule.
The Posse have been friends forever, and are as close as brothers. They feel the loss of Daniel and want to make sure that Jude is taken care of. But is a new love in the form of one of the bachelors what Jude needs?
As life twists and turns Jude she starts to see that just because you're not looking for it, doesn't mean it's not exactly what you need. This is a sweet story about second chances and grabbing life with both hands. The pace is leisurely, and the story along with the characters are realistic. If you want a sweet romance you won't want to miss this one.

DNF after 75%+ of book read....
I just couldn't raise enough interest in this book to finish it right now. Will put it back into my stack of "To Be Read" pile. The story was ok until about 75% point of book and then it pretty much jumped the shark, as far as I am concerned. Some aspects of characters and plot just seem so.....contrived, for the lack of a better word.
Sad that this book went the way it did.....it held so much promise at the beginning. -
The Posse is a story of a man and woman who are trying to mourn and move on from the loss of one man they both loved.
This is a very true example of one woman's journey to find her way after losing the love of her life. But like real life, for Jude, when it rains, it pours. From one hilarious disaster to another heart breaking disaster, Jude stands firm and strong. She wavers, but she is the epitome of true grace and strength.
Logan has loved Jude since they were young and never truly stopped. When her husband, Daniel, died, Logan was there, along with the rest of The Posse, to hold Jude up. After they spread Daniel's ashes a year later, Jude's brother concocts a harebrained idea that the single men of The Posse court Jude. At that moment something in Logan shifts and he feels free to finally act on the love he has been carrying around for decades. He is the kind of man that a girl could just fall in love with without even knowing. And I definitely would not kick him out of bed for eating crackers in it! The friendship between Jude and Logan is beautiful and something to be cherished. He knows exactly what she needs and doesn't try to ever replace Daniel, because he loved Daniel, too. This relationship between them is something so wonderful and special, that it makes me wistful.
This story speaks of loss, love, life, and growth. You will laugh. You will cry. And your heart will ache. But in the end Tawdra wraps it all up in a pretty bow and makes the pain all worth it; just like life.

We all have that core group of friends, the ones that have been us along the way, know all our deepest secrets and butt into our business constantly. The Posse has been that to each other for decades. When one half of a couple dies, they make it there mission to make sure the one left stays put by falling for another posse member. What starts out as a typical guy response to fixing a problem (that never was) turns into a story of unrequited love and second chances for happiness.
Jude has lived the same life almost her entire life. Running the restaurant, same people, tourists, walking home, raising her kids. In the last 18 months, though, her life has tilted off its axis. She lost her husband Daniel after an illness took him early in life but long into their relationship. She didn’t know what she would have done without the Posse in her life, picking her up and helping her negotiate this new normal.
Logan has loved Jude since way back in their school days. When she and Daniel got together he backed off and became the best friend he could to them both. When Daniel died he, and the other members of the Posse, kept an eye on Jude to keep her holding it together. When the other guys in the Posse bring up the idea of getting her to fall for one of the single guys to keep her in Crystal Cove, he thinks it would be a great time to express his feelings.
Matt, Connor and Logan each make plans with Jude, which at first she is flattered by then turns to slightly creeped out where Matt and Connor are concerned. She finds herself attracted to Logan, then starts to wonder if it is acceptable with losing Daniel so soon. Jude and Logan express their feelings to each other and slowly bring the other members of their family and friends into their new relationship.
I really enjoyed Jude and Logan as a couple as well as Jude’s relationship with her children. Her son actually brings the next generation into the Crystal Cove family and her daughter goes to Burton GA to continue a new series, Love in a Small Town. Once again Tawdra takes you on a wonderfully written ride from start to finish. Tiny details that make the storyline flow seamlessly, drawing the reader in with every word. 4 1/2 stars for this read and I will continue on this series with the next 2 books then move on to Love in a Small Town to find out what Meggie can get herself in to. -
A wonderfully well written second chance romance. It was engaging and captivating about a group of friends since childhood taking care of each other and the families calling themselvesthe posse. When Jude's husband passes this heartwarming story was sweet, feeling their pain, their sorrow, and their joy the posse setups up to try and make her whole and love again. Characters are remarkably engaging and included exceptional secondary cast of characters.

Great story about second chances, family and friendship!
It was refreshing to read about a female main character who wasn't in her 20's. Jude, a woman with two college age children, was deeply in love with the man she had married who had also been her high school sweetheart. She was devastated when he died, but found comfort and support from her children and her circle of friends.
There is a bit of spice to this book, but well written with romance and not just sex. -
The first book in the A Crystal Cove Book series it is a well-written story that I enjoyed reading. This is Jude Hawthorne and Logan part of the Posse. There is also Judes son Joseph and his girlfriend Lindsay. I would like to read the other books in this series. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and I also bought it.

This has been on my kindle so long I don't remember getting it. It must have been a kindle daily deal a long time ago! For a short read it was fairly good. Easy to read, light hearted and a nice HEA. Didn't take long to read.

Short read, but not a novella.
To be perfectly frank, the concept behind this story made me feel a little icky. The author was able to handle it fine by the end of the book, but a widow's deceased husband's friends making a pact to woo her so she doesn't leave the Cove and further upset their group? Yuck. Heaven forbid any of them TALK to her about it - especially since she seemed to be the most entrenched one of the group!
The POV shifts to minor characters seemed...forced? I understand that the author was attempting to show how the hero and heroine might look to their friends/family, but popping into the heads of minor characters for a chapter or (usually) less only one time each never makes for a good read.
Once the hero and heroine fall into bed together (kind of another icky situation, since she was heavily drinking, as well as an emotional mess, and he put away a few himself), it seemed like they couldn't stay OUT of bed. And then suddenly . The timeline was so murky, it seemed to happen over the course of just a few weeks, if that.
Overall, I wasn't disappointed with the book - in fact, it read much better than I expected after the initial set up - but it's not one I will come back to or a series I would finish. Falls into the usual ebook trap of needing an editor, too. Quite a number of words completely dropped from sentences. -
I don't hate this book, but I don't love it. It's a nice feel good read and I liked that, but I feel like there's not a lot of action. Everything just goes along and if there's a problem, it's quickly resolved. I feel like the characters are kinda flat. There's some depth to them, but it just still feels that something is missing from them.

First off Tawdra is one of my favorite authors! I loved her last series which was the King Series and so when I found out that she was going to be having another release but it was going to be a romantic drama, I was thrilled!
This novel will have you shedding some tears. What would you do if your significant other passed away? I could not even imagine what I would do. My hubs is my everything and he makes me feel whole and complete. I can not even make it a whole day at work without chatting with him. There would be a void unlike any other if this were to happen to me.
Jude’s husband Daniel, was a man that she had been in love with since she was small. There was no one else in her mind that she was supposed to be with. The novel takes place after a year of her going through being without him as he lost his battle with cancer. She has had to face the hard reality that she has to live her life without him by her side anymore.
She has an amazing group of friends that is always there for her. Jude is shocked that even her friends that are unmarried step up and are a shoulder to lean on in times of need. This group of friends calls themselves The Posse, and they have made it a point to try and find Jude a new interest that she can put forth her love towards.
The beginning of the novel is the group’s attempts and strategy to try and find someone for Jude, and it moves forward to describe all of their attempts and how Jude reacts to them. The story is so endearing, and it touched me because even though I would not want to move on, even within a year, of my signifigant other’s passing, I would want friends to be there and try their best to make me feel wanted like The Posse.
I absolutely loved this story about loss and how far friends would really go to make sure that their best friend was happy. It was an extremely touching and believable novel, and it is one book that I say I will pick up again and read a second and maybe third time. Absolutely worthy of FIVE stars. Tawdra you have one again won me over with your writing, and I can NOT wait until I get the chance to read another of your amazing works of art. -
The Posse is about a widow named Jude. It's been a year since her husband's passing and "The Posse" has decided that they need to step in and take care of her. Heaven forbid she fall in love and move away from them. The Posse is a group of guys who have been friends since grade school. They are more than friends, they are family. Daniel, Jude's late husband, was a member of The Posse. Although they all mourn his death, the reality that they could lose another of their group (should Jude move away) is frightening. They come up with the plan that the three single members of the group should step up and woo her. Surely one of them can win her heart and they will all be content to have kept her there with them all forever.
I'm not used to reading romance with the main characters being in their 40's. Yes, I am in my mid 30's but I still think I'm in my 20's most time. So I wondered if I would like it of if I would have the 'ick' factor by still irrationally thinking of my parent's age. I'm glad to report- no ick factor! Tawdra has created characters that drew me in and touched my heart. I felt like I knew who Jude would end up with rather quickly in the book, as Tawdra left little clues here and there. It was amusing to watch each man step up and make their play for her. Some were awkward, some were just funny as heck and one... One was enough to make anyone fall in love again.
The Posse is a close knit family and I loved them all! I loved how each of the men seems set up with a partner by the end of the book. There were some surprises that that threw Jude (and me) for a loop. Her family went thru more stress in the past two years, I couldn't help but want to cry with her when more is piled on top.
This was a remarkable romance with just the right twists and turns. It was refreshing to go thru falling in love all over again. With seamless writing, a nice paced plot and characters you will love, The Posse is highly recommended ! -
(Rating: 3.5) Jude is a widow with two college-aged kids and a close group of her husband's friends who call themselves "the posse." As the story unfolds, we learn the posse has recently released Daniel's ashes and have gathered together to remember their friend who died from cancer and to talk about his widow. They promised their childhood friend they'd all take care of Jude but maybe, just maybe, one of them should step forward and try dating her, you know, really try taking care of her. As Jude tries to live every day to its fullest, take care of her beachfront restaurant, talk with her kids, and keep track of how her husband's dream bed & breakfast project is finishing up, she has no idea Daniel's friends are trying to literally keep their promise.
The Posse is a refreshing read featuring mature adults, longtime friendships, hidden feelings, love, remembrance, secrets and second chances at love. Jude is a believable woman, admirable and strong. Waking up everyday at four to open her restaurant and keep going on with life, romance and a relationship is the farthest things from her mind. But fate has a sneaky way of butting into people's lives at times. One of the posse, Logan, doesn't see his attempt at dating Jude as an 'attempt' to honor Daniel, he views it as a chance.
Tawdra Kandle's writing wraps the reader in a warm blanket, letting the story and characters unfold in a realistic manner. There are a few surprises along the way and some steamy scenes. It was refreshing to read about older people in romantic fiction and found myself rooting for Jude and Logan. Told through third person, we really get a full-rounded look at this group of close-knit friends and family, including a couple who help Jude out at her restaurant. Looking for a sweet, realistic, touching romance? Pick up a copy of The Posse and enjoy anywhere--at the beach, in a bubble bath, anywhere. (

I received this book in exchange for a honest review.
The Cover~ I adore all the covers by this author. This one especially. The color contrast is beautiful and so is the scenery, not counting the way the person is posed on the front. This cover truly looks like a traditional romance cover, but is more in touch with the modern trends.
My Review~
OMG! Love love love it! Did I mention how I love a hot guy now throw 3 in the mix and I'm in heaven. I feel like drooling hee hee hee. The author done a wonderful job in her writing style. She is known for her YA reads and coming to a Contemporary Romance, I think that she mastered it with this book. Her characters are fun and believable. You feel as though you are there with them. I adored the interactions between the characters. This book had me captivated from the moment I picked it up. I can't wait to see what else this author has up her sleeves! I give a 5 star!
