Perfect conclusion for this series! But of course the way to the happy ever after is full of blood and tears and hot screaming bites!
We learn more about Blakes world and his Order as he tries to get revenge for Jarryd. In trying so, he puts his beloved in danger - the last thing he wants, even more so now with big happy news for them.
But cruelty strikes Shioban and her close friend Sera very close to the heart. In this heartbroken times, it's their new family that gives them strength and they get even closer than before, making a decision for a lifetime.
Some find it inappropriate that in these times lust and hunger and need plays a big part in this story. I for myself can relate to that. But Helen wrote these parts so well! It's all well placed and fits perfectly. It's never forced and flows perfectly into each other.
At the end we're introduced to characters that we will meet soon again.
I just wished that we would have learned more about the turning process as the epilogue was too short for my taste. But maybe it was just me trying to hold on to them, not wanting to let them go, have their story ended.
I really can't wait to read more from Helen! And she ignited my interest in vampire and paranormal stories.

It's no spoiler to talk about Jarryd's murder because you've probably already read book II. So this final chapter sees Blake and Si jetting off to Vegas to avenge his death. They're joined by old friends who of course get caught up in the turmoil of the underworld. You'd think that with all the hot sex scenes the title 'Innocence' seems misleading but regardless of whatever horror befalls her, Johnston keeps bringing Si back to be that wide-eyed little-girl-lost. It's strangely believable though. So much so that I questioned her sanity at some points (Si's not Johnston's). Not quite the conclusion I expected.
If you kept reading this series because you loved the characters, the sex, the classic theme, the style of writing... then you won't be disappointed for one moment because Johnston delivers. That's why it's a consistent five stars for me. You know what you're getting beginning to end. Not many twists and surprises but I don't think Johnston's fans are looking for, or expecting them.
