My personal Rating- Two Stars (and a half)
Well, that was intense! I mostly enjoyed this Love Inspired Suspense book, but the details on the murder and how they happened was right on the border-line of my maximum of reading about blood and such, though. I did really like Becca and thought she was an awesome heroine; Colby was a sweet hero. I do wish we could have seen more of his family though. The falling in love happened pretty quick, which was a downfall, in my opinion. It doesn’t necessarily paint the Amish in the best light, but suspense wise it was pretty decent.

*BFCG may (Read the review to see) recommend this book by this author. It does not mean I recommend all the books by this author. -
The Agent's Secret Past is a very action packed story written by Debby Giusti. I really enjoyed this story and the characters except, of course, for one. The one is a very disturbed, vicious killer and when you learn his background you will almost feel sorry for him but not really. Becca Miller has been running from a secret for over 8 years even joining the military couldn't keep her safe. With several attempts made on her life she can finally y say for certain she knows who the perpetrator is. Convincing those around her is also going to be a trial because her suspect has been deemed legally dead. This story is filled with drama, suspense, and murder.
I did not receive a complimentary copy of this book to read and review. I was not approached to post a favorable response. I have rated this story with five stars for meeting my expectations of a wonderful story.
Congratulations to Debby Giusti on writing such a rivoting mystery for her readers enjoyment. -
Becca Miller lost her father and brother to an evil Amish man who was really after her. She was told, though, that Jacob Yoder was killed in a fire.
Now, she and her criminal investigation partner at Ft. Rickman are investigating the mysterious deaths of elderly Amish women after each marries a drifter who promises to take care of her.
I thought this was an OK story, written under the "Love Inspired Suspense" imprint. With this imprint there's no "improper" behavior, and it contains brief mentions of prayer and faith. The description of her sister's and her father's death can be considered a bit graphic.
That said, I never really got the sense that Becca and Colby connected. She went from being extremely independent to being engaged. There really wasn't much of a personal relationship development through the story. -
I liked the Amish angle of this novel, where Becca has to leave the community she grew up in. While Colby's concern and care for Becca felt natural, the pieces fell into place much more quickly than I would have liked. I appreciate Colby's close-knit big family, but wish his parents would have been given a bigger role.

Every now and again I like to read a romance novel or short story, especially if it involves a dark secret.

Really enjoyed the story.

MY REVIEW
The Amish buggy on the cover caught my eye, little did I know that this was the sixth book in a series as I usually try to read a series in order. Yes, yes, I judge whether I want a book by its cover, then the title (those two kind of go hand in hand) and then the author, sometimes I read the blurb and sometimes I don't. Debby is also a new author for me and I can say that I did enjoy her writing as much as I enjoyed the story, great job!
Becca is a very strong character who doesn't want to depend on anyone but she may just have to do that. When she returns to the states as a special agent it isn't far from her hometown, when her new housing catches fire she starts seeing her nemesis, hearing her name called and becoming fearful, at least she thinks she is. I can't imagine living in that kind of fear, you will find yourself wanting to read this quickly to see if she is imagining things or if she should be in fear for her life.
So if you like Amish books and/or mysteries, I think you will enjoy this book. I also have the next book in the series, "Stranded" and yes, it also has an Amish buggy on the cover, lol. -
Ten years ago, Rebecca ran away from her Amish family and Jacob Yoder and joined the US military. Eight years ago, Jacob killed Rebecca's family to punish her for running away. He threatened to kill her as well telling her she couldn't get away from him. A fire at Jacob and his wife's farm that night turns up two bodies in the rubble. According to the police, Jacob and his wife are dead. Now Becca has returned from eight years of military service overseas to join the Criminal Investigation Division (CID) in Fort Rickman, GA. She dreams that Jacob is still chasing her, a dream so vivid she can smell his stench. As she gets up to calm herself, she smells gas and barely makes it out of her apartment alive. Her first thought is that Jacob caused the explosion. Her CID unit takes the case but her boss doesn't believe Jacob is alive. The story moves quickly as someone continues to try to kill Becca. She and her partner Colby try to see if Jacob is alive while other members of the CID follow other leads. I had trouble putting this book down as Becca and Colby tried to track Jacob down and prove he was alive before he could kill Becca.

A fantastic book--NOT an "Amish story" as I was hoping--but a great romantic suspense anyway. Becca was a fantastic heroine--strong, but learned from her mistakes. Colby was a delightful hero--protective, but a charming gentleman.
All in all, a delightful read! If you've never tried a Harlequin romance, I highly recommend them--great stories in a super-fast quick-read 220 page format. Always fun! -
In my opinion, the best one yet in the Military Investigations series!!!! You put together a story of the Amish, suspense and the love of God and what He means to us in our everyday life and you have one great, awesome, Love Inspired Suspense novel!!! Thank you Debby, for sharing your God given talent with us readers!! May He continue His blessings on you, both in your writings and in your life as a devout Christian lady, wife and mother! Love your books!!

Military Investigation Series is one of the best series I've read in the Inspirational Romantic Suspense Love Inspired Suspense Catagorie. The Agent's Secret Past book #6 in the Military Investigation Series makes you think about how people can treat their follow Human Beings like there nothing. How God gave a Women the strength to fight back from her past and see what God has in store for her and for her partner that has let God go from there past and to the present day.

"The active pace becomes more engaging as the drama intensifies. Becca is a determined, independent character. A good takeaway is the Amish belief that each day truly is a gift from God". (RT Book Reviews, rated 4 1/2 stars)
Miniseries: Military Investigations -
Fast, "popcorn" read. A little bit stand-out from the average Christian fiction suspense for the unique concept. Character development never a strong point in these, plot is usually all, but not bad.
