What does the color red signify to you? For me,it evokes the image of danger, caution, and excitement.Who does not love the color red.I love a good red lipstick,my favorite lip color as a matter of fact..it says "kiss me" to my husband ,so I wear it all the time!
Well the color red has meaning to the hero and heroine in this book. For Ari,the color red,is the heroine's hair color, and combined with the red of the heroine's lipstick,it was an attraction that was off the chart hot.The red lipstick was in my view of the heroine needing to put on a brave front to the outside world,it gave a measure of confidence that she desperately needed.
Ari and Perla meet on a night when they each needed oblivion. He from the memories and anniversary of his wife and unborn child's death and she from a sham marriage to a recently dead husband. They knew nothing of each others past when they gave in to a sizzling sexual attraction.Red again plays a part in their chemistry for they had sex for the first time on a red couch. These two burned up the couch and the floor. This was a ONS that they thought never to be repeated.Little did they know that 3 days later, they would meet up again at the funeral of her husband.Ari could not believe his eyes, the woman he was searching for is the wife of a past employee who is now dead.Stunned ,he lashes out and leaves thinking to not see her again.
They meet when she goes to his place of business to enquire about a life insurance policy .She needs the money for her in laws, otherwise the bank will foreclose on their home. Ari informs her the policy is null.
As far as attraction goes,it it still there and hotter than ever. They make love and Ari attempts to give her money ,she lashes out at him,how dare he offer her money. He offers her a job with his company instead, she accepts.
Wow,this book had me hooked right from the beginning.Their chemistry was sizzling .When the hero asks the heroine what her fav sexual position was and she said "doggy style" I was like ,whatttt! in a harley that term is used.( btw,the heroine was a virgin, that was the only position she could have thought about),there was also the term "junk" used by the heroine to describe the hero's penis.Never heard that term in a harley before too! All aside ,I enjoyed this book,it had the angsty elements that I love. The hero was alpha ,which again I love,he was also a tortured hero.He had "daddy" issues and he never came to grips with his deceased wife's death.Normally, that particular issuue would have been a major deal breaker with me.But the hero showed me by his actions and words that the heroine is his soul.He told the heroine that if people told her his first marriage was the love story of the century, then his lovestory with her would be the lovestory of the milenium,awwwww.
My gripe is I never knew the ages of the H/h,the hero had grey hair at the sides and how long ago did his wife died as the hero was celibate since wife#1 died. The heroine broke his spell.I give this a very strong 4.5 stars and would rec to my hp loving friends.

One night stand between a virgin widow and a grieving Greek Tycoon leads to bad feelings when the hero realizes the heroine's identity. Seems her hubby was embezzling from the hero's company to fund his drug-fueled debauched lifestyle while away on business. Hero is also guilty about his wife's death while pregnant with her first child.

When the heroine can't access her late husband's pension, the hero offers her a job as an events planner with his company.

The rest of the story concerns the H/h's backstories, cameos by the hero's brothers, fancy hotel related stuff and heroine's resistance to the hero's marriage proposal after falling pregnant.

It's all standard HP fare with many dollops of sex scenes.

A story filled with passion and sensuality. photo color-culture-red_zps27e27654.jpg a color that is so fitting in this really fabulous romantic tale.
From the red-haired heroine, Perla (I just luv her name)

to the pomegranate martini she orders at the bar photo Pomegranate-Basil-Martini1_zpsccec8c42.jpg

And not forgetting the RED COUCH photo 20_12614429_17_1343090591_636x435_zps44b98562.jpg where Perla and Arion first make love……….

Perla and Arion meet one night in a bar where both are trying to fill a void in their lives and within a short time give in to the attraction that they feel for each other. That’s where the red couch comes into the story…..they make love on it……and wow….it is hot and sexy…… photo tumblr_mq7vcgrFnB1sque89o1_500_zpse59b5e7c.gif…and very very adventurous….a virgin who wants “doggy” style the first time that she “does it”!!!!!!! And yes, this is a Mills & Boon novel!!!!!!!!! Pretty racy I say!!
I liked them both….although I thought Arion was a bit of a sh…….in the beginning. Really, offering Perla money after sex……….so not cool. And I so wanted Perla to stand up to him a bit more.
But in the end, both will have to overcome their issues, which they do, so that they can have their HEA.
    Great dialogue.
I really liked this follow-up to the 1st book
https://www.goodreads.com/review/show... in this trilogy of the 3 Pantelides brothers and I loved meeting up with Brianna and Sakis again – fabulous epilogue.

    Can’t wait for Theo’s book.

Great love story. Both H/h are widowed but hero carries a lot of guilt and mourns the loss of both his wife and his unborn child. One night of passion has unexpected consequences so hero proposes marriage but Perla is reluctant. She feels they need to get past the bitterness and deal with the pain before they can move on. Also Aris is very tortured. Can Perla consider a future with him knowing he might never be emotionally available? Can their marriage work despite all their baggage?

This was an angsty and satisfying read and an emotional roller coaster!

‘But there is. Perla, I’m not a gentleman. Your panties are shredded at my feet and in the next sixty seconds I intend to be deep inside you.’

"What the Greek Can't Resist" is the story of Perla and Arion.

A mourning h meets a heartbroken H, and they have a super carnal bang bang night, only for the H to realize next day that she is the widow to his recently deceased sleazy employee. But does this mean that he can forget her luscious red hair, or ignore her? Nope. They engage in a sensual, forbidden dance, which inevitably repeatedly leads to more coitus, until a bun in the oven in discovered..

Likable, traumatized leads, SUPER hot sex, angst and a nice HEA.

    Enjoyed it!

    Safe
    3.5/5

Virgin widow but hero didn’t realize it while they had one night stand. He hated her when they met again at her thief husband funeral because he thought she had cheated her husband. Then he gave her a job and made her his mistress. Then pregnancy, little more angst and HEA.

    A passionate read.

A neat storyline with a little twist: Young beautiful innocent virgin meets sexy handsome Alpha Greek and decides to have a one night fling only to discover that he is someone she can't forget. He comes storming back into her life over finding out she is a widow of one of his employees....and a scandal is brewing or is it?

A well-written read and an interesting plot from this author kept it from following that same old standard HP book. A very enjoyable book.

This story was just average for me. I didn't know the hero was going to be a widower who adored his now dead wife who was pregnant and daily lived with the guilt of her and the child's death when there was really nothing he could have done. Our heroine was blackmailed into a horrible marriage in which the groom informed her of some devestating news on their honeymoon. It was his own fault that he had passed away at such a young age and to top it off he left not a penny for his wife. His mother was permanently disabled in a wheel chair and his father gave up his job to care for her. The four of them lived together but now without a penny they were going to lose their home.

It was a few days before the heroine's husband's funeral that she stops for a drink at a nice bar, something that she has never done before, and there is a gorgeous man who catches her eye. The hero is drawn to her immediately. She ended up spending the night with said man (the hero) and could see the pain in his eyes. It was the anniversary of his wife's and baby's death. But two days later he sees her at the funeral of one of his deceased employees and when he learns she was this dead man's wife he is furious and calls her every name in the book...yes even the really bad ones. Why are these alpha-heroes always so quick to judge. and place blame?

They don't see each other for three months until she is left with no other choice but to go talk to HR at her deceased husband's employer because she and his parents had yet to receive their portion of his insurance policy. Her main concern was not for herself but his parents and the bank was ready to foreclose.

When the hero finally understands that the woman he took to his bed that one unforgetable night was a virgin he is shocked stupid and doesn't know how it can be. It is then he changes his tune about her.

This is not a story-line I enjoy reading about and I hurt for the heroine who felt she would always be the runner up, second place, the boobie prize for this man. It takes a long time for things to turn around...and here is what gets me. As soon as he realizes he loves her, which was almost at the very end, presto-chango he then automatically knows he has loved her since the first night he met her. WOW...he sure didn't treat her that way.

This was fair but it isn't one that I would read again. Actually if I had know the H was widowed and had a great wife I would never have read it.

Well, I think maybe my reading tastes have changed as I just don't enjoy HPs like I used to like them. Or it could be the books. I'm not sure. I've only read two recently. Maybe I just need to read some more to get back that old enjoyment.

I liked this book but I wasn't wowed by it. The book wasn't bad, was a good book but nothing really stood out for me.

I'll keep reading more HPs hoping I can find that old pizzazz!

Yuk dibaca.

Yet another Hookup turned romance HP. I wanted to like What the Greek Couldn't Resist but never felt this story was compelling so I gave up at the half point.
What I liked- the hero was wealthy; the heroine was a virgin widow. Haven't come across that in ages! The drama was angsty.

What I didn't like- the hero kept apologizing everytime he said something mean to the heroine. It was like the author didn't want him to be too bad. It failed to impress me. It made the hero into a bland character who lacked the balls to put the heroine through the emotional ringer. On the flip side, the heroine had no problem challenging the hero all the freaking time. That got annoying fast. A major reason I gave up attempting to finish.

I wanted to like What the Greek Couldn't Resist unfortunately it wasn't compelling enough to keep my attention.

I really enjoyed this romance. The passion, and simmering chemistry between Arion and Perla, could be felt throughout the pages of this book. I loved the way the author Maya Blake, let us know the thoughts and feelings from both Arion, and Perla from their point of view.

Arion was grieving the loss of a loved one. In his mind, he knew Perla should be grieving the loss of her husband. He judged her wrongly. There was a force that he couldn't control that kept pulling him to the stunning, beautiful spit fire red head.

I loved the unexpected twist to the story. This was not the typical, (He got her pregnant, he must marry her) kind of book. This plot offered so much more. I don't want to ruin the book for you, so I'm trying to keep my review as vague as possible. I will just say this book had suspense, red hot passion, a pregnancy, and romance. Perla made the perfect heroine. she had a hard childhood. It only made her stronger . She was not one that gave in easily. In the beginning I really didn't like Arion. He quickly redeemed himself. He was a alpha Greek man. The Greek men always comes across strong, and harsh, but once you get to know them, they have a tender touch. I loved the way he took care of Perla, and really cared for her.

This was a book I was waiting for its release. It did not disappoint.

  • shms

Strong start finished with a whimper. I was disappointed. The attempt at the beginning to create a sense of mystery failed, that aside it hooked my interest but about a third into the book it seemed to meander. Frankly for two people who were trying to avoid each other it became farcical. This is from someone well used to the 'avoid' and 'resist' HP double speak.

Nice read. Hero and heroine meet up when they're both under the influence of strong emotions, including guilt, and have a one night stand to forget their problems, then he shows up at her husband's funeral. He's her late husband's boss, and her husband was a crook who embezzled and crashed a ship. Or something. I wasn't sure. Nor did I quite figure out why the hero got so mad when he learned who she was. The heroine didn't seem to get it either, which is probably why I didn't. This is very close to an old school romance with everything in the confused, naive heroine's point of view, though we do get the hero's POV on occasion. It has some really nice scenes, but they didn't seem to hang together all that well. Still, it was nice.

  • Candy

Red hot attraction between the hero and heroine right from the start until he finds out that she had been recently widowed after attending her husband's funeral. Arion feels deceived but it doesn't stop that hot spark of attraction that ensues whenever they're in the same room! Thoroughly enjoyed this one. This little mini series on the hold about the Pantelides brothers!

A well thought out story, although a little unrealistic. Perla and Ari are well suited to each other, but both have a lot of issues to deal with, and they are both fighting their attraction for each other. A good read for a lazy afternoon.
