She's the most beautiful woman he's ever met. She's also his archnemesis.
It would be an understatement to call Trevon Beaumont an accomplished monster slayer. He's traversed the European countryside upholding the legacy of his clan one completed mission at a time for the whole of his adult life. Now he's on his most perilous quest slay the cruel but beautiful Countess Dracula.
Just as the two of them seem ready to conclude their final battle, however, an unexpected act of betrayal sends them hurtling together through time—bloodbonding them, thus entwining their fates. Reappearing in the twenty-first century, they must get jobs and find a place to stay while they decide how best to proceed now that they are unable to continue their battle to the death.
But when Dracula rapidly develops a romantic obsession for Trevon, things get complicated. Even worse, Trevon's forced proximity to the queen of all creatures of the night means that his own self-control is constantly tested. What will become of their budding relationship? Will it be hot?
Headpats After Dark is a wholesome yandere romantic comedy written for men who enjoy the trope of obsessive women with a few screws loose. This is a work of fiction. If your significant other acts like Dracula does in this novel, those are red flags, people. Take heed.

This is not meant to be taken very seriously, and I didn't, but I still can't give this one that 5th star; just wasn't enough depth to clear that hurdle. However, if the blurb appeals, you will likely find this at least diverting (as did I) if not riveting (which I did not).

Outstanding premise, lacklustre execution, minimal romance, "men writing women" sex scenes.
This was a fun book with a cool premise. No idea how it managed to be nearly 400 pages though as it just... Doesn't seem to have that much content in it. If you'd told me it was actually a novella I'd have believed you. I liked the setting and premise (it's so fun) and the dynamic of the MCs was nice. But the main draw of the story was very lacking.
There is almost no "romance" to speak of. Dracula more or less decides she's in love with her enemy Day 1 (chapter 2 or 3 I think) and then the rest of the book is him coming to terms with that and reciprocating. Reasons are not given for why people might do things, they just agonise about it and then they happen anyway.
The book is very "men writing women" at times and regularly comes across as unnecessarily crude and/or sleazy. I thought it was supposed to be cozy! I've read a lot of stuff over the years including stuff about heavy subjects, but this book is the only one that had me regularly wincing at the word choices.
Overall it *was* funny though and did have an enjoyable story. But I would have enjoyed it a lot more without the focus on sex that we see from both the characters and the narrative. -
Overall I really loved it. The interactions between Mira and Trevon are great. When he speaks oldschool it's funny. Him cleaning the toilet was a banger.
Was a fun ride. -
A genderbent yandere Dracula gets isekai-ed with her arch-nemesis from Castlevania into the modern day and they fall madly in love. IF you understood that sentence and didn't have to look anything up, this book is for you.
This wholesome little book of smut is made for nerds who grew up with castlevania and said yeah but what if the castle was just foreplay?!
spice level: 1/5 -
Entertaining Fluff
There is just enough plot here to keep the characters moving, but that wasn’t the point of the book. The point is to have fun reading about a crazy—and amusing—version of Dracula and her monster hunter boyfriend coming to terms with each other. It’s a fast and easy read with tons of dark humor. -
Fun read
A very fun, absurdist read to pass the time. Mira was absolutely adorable, in a crazy kind of way. Only wish it would have been longer or maybe split into a couple of books. There are parts where the story felt a bit rushed and skipped around. -
Really cute slice of life
What happens when a vampire hunter and the when kid vampires are cursed and tethered to one another? You get this story. And honestly it’s awesome. Lots of crazy. Some good adult content and lots of humor. -
It was a nice leisure book to listen to in between my long high fantasy series. I liked the MMC and FMC together very much. They had this cite beast boy and raven energy I related to and greatly appreciated.

What a fantastic version!
I don’t know about it being a comedy so much as a really great tongue-in-cheek joyride from start to finish. The intro was a blast from the past with amazing Fan Service and the ending was better than I hoped for. Now where is Alucard? -
Silly palate cleanser that was great while shoveling snow. The first 5 hours were hilarious, but then it turned sappy and lasted too long. Still worth the laughs. Dracula as a clingy / jealous girlfriend of the monster hunter is a fantastic idea.

Really good
This is my first book that I've read and not listened to in a long time and it's my first romance book that I've read through. I really liked it. I didn't know what to expect and it was better than what I would have expected. -
a one and done but I need more
An interesting take on the classic vampire/slayer trope. The story wraps up nicely but I hope that a sequel may come one day -
This had me cackling like an idiot throughout the whole audiobook and I couldn't stop listening. Loved it, Enough said.

Trevon stared at her, his eyes narrowing with a question. "What was that?"
"Uhh-I like the hooded bat shirt. Let's definitely get that. Did you find any clothes for yourself?"
"Yes. What was that kiss?"
She looked away and crossed her arms behind her back, holding the shopping basket there as her lip jutted out in a pout. “I...I...I'm just..." Suddenly a wave of inspiration hit her. "I'm evil!”
Setting:
This book takes place in modern day in a small essentially no name town.
Characters:
Trevon: Trevon is a young and powerful man whose family has a long history of slaying vampires. Trevon believes in always doing what's right and being a good person.
Dracula: Countess Vladimira Tepes is not actually that bad of a vampire. I mean yes she has hordes of demons under her control and access to vast stores of powerful dark magic. But she isn’t entirely casual and flippant with her violence. She is, perhaps, liberal in her justifications, but there are justifications.
Plot:
Trevon has entered Dracula’s castle with the aim of killing the evil vampire. Death, her long serving minion, is very much over the whole show and, during the pair’s dramatic battle, throws both of them into a rift in time. This results in the pair being transported to modern day with the extremely helpful side effect of also teaching them everything they will need to know about the modern world and the much less helpful side effect of magically binding the pair together. They now have to figure out how to deal with each other, at least for long enough to break the magic binding and get themselves back to their normal time.
My Thoughts:
Knightley had the distinct advantage here of knowing exactly what sort of book they were writing. This book is not going to win a Booker or a Nebula or a Hugo prize and it’s not trying to. It’s not that kind of book and that’s fine, much better than fine actually.
It’s cute and a bit silly. It’s light-hearted and there’s a number of very obvious references anybody who is familiar with Castlevania will easily pick up on. It’s not a book that’s going to make you think very hard or pose some unanswerable question. It’s a fast fun read about a vampire hunter and vampire falling for each other. -
Yes, he did write a cozy handers romcom
