Word of Honour: Camp 30, Bowmanville Reviews
-
This is the fascinating story of the Canadian POW camp for German officers during World War II. Although the scenes jumped around a bit and I occasionally forgot which of the many characters was which, I could hardly put the book down.
This book presents a well-researched story of an exciting but dignified part of Canada's history. These were officers and gentlemen, and they stood by their word of honour. They also tried to fulfill their duty to escape.
Because there was only one obliquely suggestive scene, I let my 13 year old read it (after she finished the children's Camp X novels by Eric Walters), and she could hardly put it down either.
Highly recommended for anyone interested in Canadian history or in war stories without gore and crudeness.
