Tangled In Lies is a stand alone romantic suspense by Jasmin Miller. You guys! Run, do not walk, or get those clicking fingers ready and get this book! I am blown away. I loved it so much. From the first page to the last, I was in this world. I wasn’t able to do much else because I needed to know what happened next!!
When this story starts, Evangeline (Evie) Caldwell is turning twenty one. She is in her last year at college and is the daughter of the man who owns and runs Caldwell & Company, a global management consulting firm. Evie has never really fit in with her family. She tries to keep them appeased by making the necessary appearances but prefers to be as far away from them as possible. This night, the night of their required extravagant celebration of her birthday, is the night everything changed. The night “HE” came back into her life.
Phoenix Montgomery is Evie’s sister’s ex-fiance. He has just been released from spending three years in prison. And Evie is the one who put him there. Phoenix’s family is powerful and the Montgomerys and the Caldwells want their families merged. What better way than to join the families by marriage, Phoenix’s and Evangeline’s specifically.

This story was absolutely amazing! I loved every single page. I adored Phoenix and Evie. And I just have to give a shout out to Phoenix’s best friend and right hand man, Holden. I loved him so much. I loved the devotion between he and Phoenix but even more, loved the friendship that developed between he and Evie. If you love romantic suspense, then you don’t want to miss this book. I’m going to be thinking about these characters for a very long time!

This was…not good.
I was lured in by the cover and the premise got me super excited for the release. But the story I found inside this book couldn’t at all live up to my expectations —not the author’s writing style and storytelling, neither the characters nor the plot itself.
Another miss with an anticipated release. -

"Tangled in lies" was definitely a book where both the mcs were tangled in a circle of lies, betrayal, revenge, trust. This book is an arranged marriage sparked by revenge!!! There was so much longing and emotional angst and not to mention the suspense!! The twist kept coming back to back !! Overall definitely a recommend!! The character development showed was so natural making it connect deep with the characters!!
Mini synopsis—
Evangeline(fmc) has a stalker who has been tormenting her life throughout, which results in some events in her life which snatched her dreams, sister and a person she had longing towards!! She become the reason why Phoenix(mmc) had to be in prison for 3 years where he met holden aka his bestfriend plotting and sparking the urge to have a revenge and with that being said he decides to get them in an arrange marriage so she can be his to torment, but everything changes when his feelings for her comes back and he can't do anything about it! Amidst all this the stalker(evie's)who he had no idea about that he was the reason behind him being prison, they decides to find out the person!!
Definitely needs holden's book!! Eagerly waiting for it!!!

The Good: The premise and Holden's (side character) relationship with the h
The Not-So-Good: The lack of connection I felt towards the characters.
The Bad: The ending was very much focused on setting up the next book, which is a pet peeve of mine (and I ended up skimming tbh)
Overall: This was alright. It took me a while to read and I think that alone says a lot. I wasn't all that eager to get back to it when I would get distracted. I guessed pretty much right away who the bad guy was and his motives, so that took away from it for me too. I felt indifferent towards the characters, and that became a struggle when being motivated to finish this. It seems like I'm in the minority yet again, so it very well could be the book funk I find myself in where I'm not feeling all that inspired...
Brief Summary of the Storyline: This is Evangeline and Phoenix's story. Phoenix surprises Evangeline by showing up at her parents' party for her birthday after being in prison for years. They have a past together that makes her all of a sudden having to marry him complicated. Phoenix is out for revenge after Evangeline put him in prison and forcing her to marry him is one of the first steps. They also have a mysterious stalker that is very much contributing to their relationship. Some major secrets get revealed, some old feelings come rushing back, and there are some sexy times...and they get a HEA ending.
Point Of View (POV): This alternated between Evangeline and Phoenix's POV.
Overall Pace of Story: Good for the most part. I did end up skimming here and there because I wasn't really engaged.
Instalove: No, but residual feelings are there from before.
H (Hero) rating: 3.5 stars. Phoenix. I liked him more than the h, but barely.
h (heroine) rating: 3 stars. Evangeline. She was alright. I think I didn't really feel one way or the other about her.
Sadness level: Low, no tissues needed

Heat level: Good. They have some good tension, chemistry, and scenes -- but not so much it takes away from the story.

I loved every emotion this book made me feel : angry ,sad ,helpless , desperate and happy !
The mmc- Phoenix - OBSESSED! His dirty mouth was so hot not to mention his inner monologue in which I could see his obsession and desperation.
The fmc - Evangeline - a survivor, a warrior, and a fighter!
I loved their dinamic,the banter ,the sweet moments and bad ones ( more importantly how it brought them closer )

Not explosive, but weirdly sweet, and sometimes charming.
FMC/ EVANGELINE:- A 21 years old bachelor student from a wealthy family, Evie's life has been hell for the past couple of years.
MMC/ PHOENIX:- About three years older than Evie, Phoenix has spent the last three years in prison. Heir to a billion dollar company, Phoenix learnt some lessons young, and revenge is one of them.
Introduction to the plot
Phoenix is out of prison with a fully formed revenge plan, and the first step is to attend Evie's 21st birthday party. Next, is to bind the girl he calls his angel, to him, with a contract of marriage and merger between the two families.
Review
I expected a darker version of the tale and some giant red flags. But it ended up being some green flags with sweetness coated in a setting that was pre-made full of red-flags.
Let Evie explain.
It’s not every day my teenage crush, who almost became my brother-in-law, forces me into an arranged marriage, all while knowing I was the one who put him in jail, and now he gets me my favorite dishes for dinner.
So, you see. How much Phoenix wanted to hate her, he couldn't. Evie has always been his angel, and even when he knew the truth he couldn't comprehend how she could have been the one to put him in prison. But anger had reined then. Now, with Evie so close to him, things did not make sense. And Phoenix soon realises there is something else going on.
And the fact that the man has one filthy brain when it comes to his fiancée, didn’t help his revenge plans either.
She’ll take everything I will give her and say thank you.
Besides, these two and their friends, I didn't find any other endearing character, or plot point written well. That is a major problem with me. Because Jasmine treated the family as cameo characters, when they could have furthered and deepened the plot even more.
Anyhoo, it was still a good read. Written well. -

In the beginning of the book, you get to know the characters and find out that there are a lot of secrets, which made it hard for me to follow at times (I like to know everything 😂). But this did make it exciting which made me want to keep reading and couldn't stop!
At some point, some truths come out and more becomes clear.
At 25%, I thought I knew who Evie's stalker was (just a guess). Then I thought mmm maybe not after all? Or was it? I was half shocked, but mostly because of the stalker's plot.
Overall, the book was worth 4 stars for me. I really liked it, it was a bit on the long side, but on the other hand I couldn't say what could have been shorter 😂. The spice was spicing, even though there weren't that many spicy scenes.

Jasmin had me eating out of the palm of her hand from beginning to end with this book.
Evangeline and Pheonix had me in a choke hold, their story was captivating and had me so invested about what was going to happen.

There is so much longing and angst and suspense! I loved character growth between these two characters, and all the tender moments they shared 🥹

I really hope there is a future novel for Holden because that man is something special!

This book wasn’t initially on my radar, but I’m so glad Jasmin popped into my DMs and put it there! It was my first book by the author and I’ll definitely be checking out her backlist!
I don’t want to say too much about the story itself, because I went into this one only after reading the blurb and think that (or going in blind) is the best way to go. I do want to say two things…
1. I had a new theory every chapter or two. I was messaging a friend every time my theory changed...and it changed a lot!
2. I read the second half of this book in one sitting! Once I got to a certain point, I could. Not. Stop!
I loved Eve and Phoenix! I especially enjoyed the pull toward Eve that Phoenix tried to fight but couldn’t. I love a good “eff it” moment before that first kiss, and this one delivered!
Tangled in Lies was the perfect blend of romance and suspense! If you love romantic suspense, don’t miss this one!

omg🫠🫠 this is the first book I am reading from Jasmin Miller and I am so so so obsessed with it!! This was so good, I need more Evangeline and Phoenix immediately!
This book was one twist after the other and I didn’t see any of them coming, it was giving me whip lash🤣🤣 (in a good way!) I binged this in just over a day, I just could not put it down😳
This is a friends (it should have been you) to enemies, to arranged marriage with a HEA! So many of my favourite tropes all in one book!
The character development and emotional development shown throughout this book is insanely good, you can feel the connection between the characters deep when reading and it makes me cry just thinking of them and their HEA, they deserved that and closure so much🫶🏻🫠
The spice in this book was also sooooo so hot😁🔥
I also need a Holden and Olivia’s story immediately 🤣🤣🫠🫠🫢🫢

I LOVED this book from Jasmin Miller. I was so used to her light contemporary romances that this was such an unexpectedly enthralling departure. I binged this book in less than 24 hours. Read late into the night, woke up super early to read, and just could not put it down. I’m still thinking about the twists and turns, but also the true love and pining and wanting between Evangeline and Phoenix. And god the steam. Combine the steam with their friendship, and Phoenix’s support of Evangeline’s dreams & their romance was a beautiful forbidden love story.
Terrorized by their secrets, trying to protect each other almost cost them everything. It was so sad to feel their pain, but when they finally felt like they could trust one another enough to work together, I knew they would be unstoppable.
Also, Holden might be my favorite third wheel of all time.

This was a good book and I would’ve finished sooner had life not gotten in the way once again. Honestly can’t say there was a part of the book that I did not like. I was hooked from the very beginning and it was so well written. Jasmin had my jaw on the ground at the revelation towards the end, very happy this was my first read for Jasmin and I’m sure it won’t be the last. If the tropes mentioned above is your cup of tea I definitely recommend this book, I know you won’t regret it. Also don’t let the “sister’s ex-fiancé” fool you, it’s not what you think.

Este libro fue el verdadero Enemies To Lovers, el rechazo que sentía Phoenix por Evangeline era muy fuerte al principio y por un momento pensé que realmente terminaría con ella porque se perdía mucho en su odió y eso lo hacía perder el control.
La historia de Phoenix y Evangeline empezó cuando era jóvenes y con el pasó de la lectura vamos descubriendo el porque de su enemistad y gran manipulación que hubo detrás de las acciones de Eve que fue sin dudas la persona que mas sufrió con los años😭.
La relación de ellos me gusto y disfrute muchísimo leyendo el cambio y caída que tuvo Phoenix, al principio todo era sobre la atracción pero rápidamente pasó todo a algo mas romántico y el se sintió muy protector con ella cuando se dió cuenta que ella no tenía maldad y que estaba siendo manejada por alguien cruel que se aprovechó de ella bajo amenazas.
El plot twist del final si bien lo sospechaba fue mas sorprendente de lo que esperaba y fue todo una locura maravillosa, sin dudas es un libro que merece mucha recomendación ♥️ (Amo a Holden) -

This book had me on the edge of my seat! I was hooked! Phoenix and Evangeline’s story was exactly what I wanted out of a darker romantic suspense story. I don’t want to give too much away because there were so many twists to this story and I genuinely couldn’t predict some of them.
While Phoenix definitely brings the “touch her and die” vibes, Evangeline brings “touch him and die” and “fuck around and find out”. The two of them together are just absolutely explosive. -

This book pulled me in from the very beginning. Evangeline "Evie" Caldwell has been living her life for the past three years consumed by guilt for her sister's death and sending a man to prison for it. Plus, she has been receiving these anonymous threatening texts.
Phoenix Montgomery is the man she sent to prison. He is now out and has revenge on his mind for Evie. But he is also immensely attracted to her and always has been.

What a roller coaster this book was!!🤩 This got me hooked from the start, and I didn't even want to put it down. All the lies and secrets gave way to more and more twists and turns in the plot.
I loved Phoenix and Evangeline together.😍The character development was so good, like where Phoenix went from "I will end her" to "no one touches what's mine."❤️🔥I loved how obsessive he is about Evie. And Evangeline? This woman is a survivor, a warrior, and a fighter! The angst, tension, and steam between them are just top-notch!!🔥🛐 And the way their emotions developed? Ahh, so beautiful!!!😭Despite being caught up in so many lies and being terrorised by so many secrets individually, they put in effort and worked together to understand and trust each other.🩷 Also, can we talk about how good it is to see Phoenix supporting Evangeline’s dreams? 😇
Now, coming to the friendships in this book, the bromance between Phoenix and Holden was so wholesome!! Their banter is everything!! 😂❤️Also, I adore the friendship between Evie and Holden. I loved Holden so much; he's like the best third wheel ever, and now I can't wait for his book.🥰

Yall...the way that I DEVOURED this book was almost criminal! I loved every single thing about this story...from the first page to the very last!
When Jasmin reached out to me, I told her that I wasn't sure that I would get it finished by release day and then proceeded to absolutely devour it in like two days. I didn't even want to put it down.
I absolutely loved the suspense aspect of this book and spent the majority of the time trying to figure it out! The tension between Evangeline and Pheonix was top tier and I just was obsessed with them.
If you like enemies to lovers with a side of arranged marriage and suspense, I highly recommend picking this book up immediately! Thank you so much Jasmin for the early copy! -

This was SOO good! I had so much fun reading it and loved every second! The twists and turns kept me engaged and the romance between Evangeline and Phoenix was sooo twisty and spicy and fun!
This gave Rina Kent meets Ana Huang vibes and I was here for it at every second 👏🏻🙌🏻 it was refreshing and also hilarious at points.
Besides the main characters, Holden was the shining star! I LOVE THAT MAN!! He needs a book!
There’s so many found family moments even in the midst of revenge and suspense🤌🏻
I am super excited to see if this will be a series and if all characters will get a book!

I just read this entire book in 6 hours. Do my eyeballs burn? Absolutely. Did Jasmin kill it? ABSOLUTELY. Phoenix is my new book boyfriend. The plot twist was TWISSSSTTING!

Well I finally finish this book, it was a little hart for me, the story is not bad but everything passed so quickly the story turned bored and we already know was gonna happen. So is a NoNo for me. Oh is the plot twist more obvious in this world 😝😂 -
What a wild ride!! This suspenseful {darkish} romance had me on the edge of my seat, enjoying every moment and all of the plot twists! More to come…
