Crux (Aurora Lockette, #2) Reviews

As with book 1, Flee, I ended this book feeling pretty ambivalent about the story. I finished it, but not much about it got me too excited.

Upon further consideration both this book and the first one read like YA books. They both had the high-school-character vibe, even though the main protags are over 21.

Aurora and Gavyn are in Las Vegas with the other people in their organization. Gavyn feels a sense of dread and wants Aurora back safe at home, but they have more important things to deal with. For example, the Shyama can now mask themselves, passing as human. When leaving, Aurora become a target and is kidnapped right in front of Gavyn. What do the Shyama want from her and will she get out alive?
This book started right off with action. There was no back-story to lead into the book, but as if it was another chapter from the first book. I love not having to rehash tons of nitty gritty details that some series feel the need to go over every book in a series. That being said, I would recommend new reader to the series start with book one, because they would be very confused here.
Once Aurora was kidnapped, the book perspective split and was told from both Gavyn and Aurora's point of view. I liked that the author did that so that we can get insight into what Gavyn feels, since we didn't get to in the first book. I also liked it because we get to know what is going on with kidnapped Aurora as well as the rescue party. I really like books with multiple perspectives and this book delivered with it.
I think at times Aurora was immature, such as being distracted on an important mission by floating lights. Yet on the other hand, she was a kick but action star. She is a hard character to pin down for me. At times I love her and other times I want to shake her.
Gavyn on the other hand staid a pretty strong character. I like how he was able to let Aurora go off and be a hero even when all he wanted to do was wrap her up in bubble wrap. He was able to see past his own insecurities and embrace this strange lifestyle he was thrown into by the woman he loves. I don't know how he is able to be an actor and fight evil but whatever.
Overall the story is still a romance even though there is a battle and evil and cool powers. The end was a big nod to the romance, and I liked the idea of hope it brought with it. Technically, this could be the end of the Aurora series the way it ended, but I will most certainly read more. I enjoyed the series, even though they were a little short, I could have used more story. I will read more by this author in the future.
I received this book from the author and Goodreads in exchange for my honest review.

If you are a lover of NA Paranormal Romance books, The Aurora Lockette Series is for you. Crux is the second book of the series but I would suggest reading the books in order. This series was very interesting and intense. I am not usually a big fan of paranormal, but these books were awesome and the way Miranda writes, I felt like I was watching the story unfold on a big screen.
We met Aurora in book one, she is just a plain-Jane young women going to college. Kind of a loaner, she doesn’t like to draw attention to herself, especially since she has special abilities. Keeping her special abilities hidden has always be priority one, that is, until she meets Gavyn and things change.
The suspense, action and romance in Crux kept me reading and on the edge of my seat. It really reminded me of the TV show Hero’s with all the special abilities, romance, suspense and action. The characters in this series are all so relatable and have such great chemistry. I really enjoyed getting to know them and hope to read more.
If you’ve read Flee, I am sure you are dying to know what happens to Aurora and Gavyn. Believe me, you won’t be disappointed, the twists, turns, and WTF moments are great in Crux. I love when a story makes my brain work in overdrive to figure out what’s coming next. Great job Miranda can’t wait to see where this series is headed.

Great book! The second book in this series continues the story of Aurora and Gavyn and their involvement in the secret world they have both been injected into. With the Shyama in hot pursuit the team has to make a plan of attack. Too late they find out that there has been a mutation within the Shyama and now they can take over bodies making them appear almost completely human. The love story continues between our main characters but is suddenly interrupted by a kidnapping and rescue effort. The new powers you see within this special team is mind boggling and you feel like they are a elite group of Xmen type characters. I greatly enjoyed this book as well as the first. I will greatly anticipate anything written by Kavi!

Okay, so I might be a little in love with Gavin!!!!!! He's so amazing. You have to read the book just because of him.

Yeah, I love Aurora too. The poor girl has had a tough go of things in the supernatural world, yet she perseveres.

This was a great follow-up to Flee. It was a little short, but very enjoyable. I was glued to the pages and read it quickly.

The story was original and had all the great parts to a new adult/adult paranormal romance. I highly recommend this five star read, cuz it's awesome!

As with Flee, this book was simplistic, amateurish and undeveloped. No character development at all, no reasoning behind anything, just something a high schooler might have written. I was stupid enough to read the second book in hopes of it getting better. Not so. Tons of typos, on almost every page, again. Don't waste your time with either book. Unless of course you're on a deserted island with no other books. Even then, just talk to Wilson. Forget the books.

As expected I liked the 2nd book better than the first.
