This counts towards my reading goal.

Such a cute little book! It ended kind of abruptly, but I loved how the finger puppet gave the story extra animation and a tactile element.

  • Elizabeth Croston

One of my daughter's favorites. In the 100s club for sure.

  • Scott T.E.

    Cute, fun reading experience :)

  • Jamille Parks

These books are fun for kids.

Ah, the finger puppet books. What a wonderful idea! They are a great shape, easy for my daughter to hold, and very sturdy (unlike another puppet-style book I could name--I'm looking at you, Curious George). The puppet also tucks neatly into the book so it can be easily shelved (ahem, George, are you listening?). The design and illustrations of this series are eye-catching and fun. But, alas! The stories are just terrible. Why? Why, finger-puppet books? You break my heart. (One possible answer: these originated in the Netherlands and are translated from Dutch, or at least the ones we own were.)

Little Cat is not the worst, but it isn't great. The story: Little Cat sleeps all day then goes out at night to meet a friend (another cat), who jumps out and scares her. In the next page he is wearing a pumpkin on his head, and scares her. Then she goes home, has a treat, and goes to bed. It's not really a story, and it mostly involves her "friend" jumping out at her. Meh.

The best stories in the series that I've found so far are Little Bee and Little Pig. They aren't great, but they're better.

This book has a finger puppet!! It had a great mixture of site words and larger words, but still has a story to it.

  • Camie

There are many animals to choose from in this cute puppet series. This one with a black cat has a Halloween theme. Board book .

  • Megan Gery

Cute, simple, and vaguely nonsensical... With a puppet. L likes it.

  • Axel

Sturdy book, the puppet is a cool idea, but the story is not too entertaining.

Idk who's been checking out Halloween books all spring, but I've shelved a spate of them lately. More power to ya, Halloween people.

I'm sick and I was shelving my second children's cart of the night, so I stopped and finger-puppeted my way through this teeny book tonight. It was a cute story. I love cats and I love Halloween, so not a hard sell, haha.
