Another great volume. Even though I knew what was going to happen it was still really interesting to read. I do have to say that I wish the fighting scenes were drawn more clearly. Sometimes I didn't know what the heck was happening. But that couldn't possibly make me give this vol. less than 5 stars.
Can't wait to read the next one.

I'm really enjoying it but I'm not sure if I'm going to love it.

This vol. was my favorite so far!

I feel like I’m supposed to hate Amon…. but I kind of really like Amon…..
I mean, Kaneki’s fight with him was everything. So well drawn and the dialogue was 10/10. This series is only getting better, and being introduced to the doves in more depth only peaked my interest tenfold.

WOOOW!! Finally, the ACTION begins here!
I'm loving this manga more and more :D

My review for the whole manga is
    here.

It’s getting good, but the art style during the action scenes makes it sooo hard to tell what is going on and then I feel dumb 😭

    This volume was incredible!

We follow Hinami after the violent and despicable killing of her mother by the evil b Kureo Mado who is temporarily staying at Anteiku. Unbeknownst to her, Touka takes it upon herself to dispatch the Doves (what the ghouls refer to the investigators as) beneath her rabbit disguise.

Elsewhere, Kaneki finally dons the mask Uta made for him for the first time and goes up against rank 1 investigator, Amon, and we start to see a different side to Kaneki - more vicious and in tune with his inner ghoul. I suspect that over the course of the series he will have to battle more with his inner ghoul as he gradually becomes more sadistic. Perhaps.

But I must say I was VERY surprised Ishida decided to kill Mado off at the end of this volume. I mean I'm glad that he died - he was the absolute WORST but I thought the mangaka would have sacrificed him later on in the 14 volume series, although I feel that Kaneki & Co. haven't really faced the worst of it yet...

23.03.2018 the plot keeps getting better but when it comes to the art style....I really am not a fan. some of the panels, especially the ones with the fight scenes, are drawn so poorly, I can’t make sense of what’s happening

30.08.2019 this volume is just full of heartbreak and existential crisis. we’re shown the other side of the story - the CCG investigators and their line of work. the fated words about the wrongness of the world have been uttered by both Kaneki and Amon, the priorities are all set, let’s go.

  • Romie

I liked this one even more than the first two!
We finally start to see how hard it is for Ken to live while fighting his ghoul's side, we see the thing he has to do to survive.
It's interesting to see both sides and their POVs : human and ghoul's. For humans, ghouls are total monsters who kill them just for fun, but ghouls are like humans : some are good and try their best not to hurt innocent people, and some decide they prefer to kill people. In both sides, there are good and bad people.
I'm honestly interest to read the next vol, I feel like Ken is finally start to discover his ghoul's side and I like it!

Powerful with raw emotion and haunting lines. This manga series started to really hit its stride with this vol.

There’s something to be said about taking soft characters and making them act in harsh ways whilst they actively regret it. That’s a powerful gesture, and it could be seen in this vol in both Kaneki and Hinami. Their breakdowns coupled with the surfacing of Touka’s hidden sweetness, and even Amon’s anguish too, made this a very heartrending read.

On top of that, the pacing was well done and the plot managed to juggle multiple fights and focal points at the same time, all whilst allowing for both decent action and dialogue. Impressive and entertaining!

The thing is ... I don't really care for the human pro/an-tagonists. They seem much more quick to kill, and are more bloodthirsty. This volume felt short and not much really happened, except for one person dying - which I didn't think would happen for some time.

    Continuing on ...

Just one word: unputdownable. This manga is exceeding my expectations, which were rather high to begin with. (I also lowkey want to cry because only the first 10 volumes have been translated so far, and... Well, I guess I just need to work on my Japanese.)

  • Rodrigo

Muy interesante, los combates con los inspectores vs ghoul muy buenos.
El chico va espabilando poco a poco.
Sigue teniendo una lucha en su interior ya que es mitad humano mitad ghoul.

[August 2018 Edit] So 2 things that I didn't say here before.
1- The antagonist is creepy as hell which is awesome.
2- I just realized that this book has very subtle and well written commentary on racism, or it at least seems like it. I think that it is very fitting for a horror book to do commentary on something so horrific. That being said, if I'm not misinterpreting this book I don't agree with the author's view of law enforcement but even that part is still well written and that is overall what matters.

    [Original review]
Holy shit, now we’re talking! I was liking but not loving the series with volumes 1 and 2 but this... this I love!

    What’s it about?
The 2 main characters go undercover as humans to get into a building that is pretty much the headquarters for the ghoul investigation unit for information. One of the investigators there at the same time is one of the best when it comes to ghoul investigations and he knows that something’s up.

    Why it gets 5 stars:
The story is great, interesting, well written and it’s building a lot.
    The art is fantastic.
The characters are interesting. This volume makes me care about them more.
This volume is very unpredictable, suspenseful and full of twists!
The action in this volume is so good! Very exciting, well drawn and bloody mixing both fantastic action and the batshit insane nature of this series. I love it!
The horror in this volume is well done. I like how it mixes various kinds of horror. There’s body horror which is a huge part of the story, there’s some gore in the action (though nothing extreme, at least it didn’t seem very extreme to me), a lot of it’s just good ol’ creepiness which is always fun! Seriously, if you’re a horror fan and you haven’t tried this series out, you’re missing out big time because this series does horror right!
I was surprised but this is more emotional than expected but it’s done very well. I was just expecting a fun little horror story with some action which I certainly got but damn... so many emotional moments that really got me.

    Overall:
More volumes like this please, if it keeps this level of quality up Tokyo Ghoul will be one of my favorites for sure. Like I said at the beginning of this review, the first 2 volumes are good but this is just outstanding. Do you like horror? Any horror? If so, I can safely say that I highly recommend this!

    5/5

    TOKYO GHOUL vol. 3

    2^ rilettura 15 marzo 2020
Qui inizia il dilemma. E' giusto uccidere i Ghoul?

Finally, we get to see some fighting action!

This volume mainly focuses on the two main investigators, Amon & Mado, and their weapons and fighting techniques, against Touka, Kaneki and Hinami.

It was really interesting seeinn the fights, and it seems like it'll only get worse for the ghouls from now on.

I loved this one. So action packed and emotional. These characters are so dynamic, they really come alive on the page.

This was a solid volume if not a little predictable.

So with the death of a ghoul, Touka decides to take matters into her own hands. She goes RIGHT after the doves themselves. Slaughtering each one who did Hinami wrong and killed her mother and who are still after her. After some sneaking around all the pieces are set and the doves come face to face with the Ghouls trying to decide who will face who and what their death will mean.

Good: Loved some moments in here. My favorite with Touka going full badass and showing how strong she is. Also learning more about the Doves and seeing how they use their weapons and where they got them from. Hinami growing into her own too was nice.

Bad: Kaneki is kind of annoying here. Trying to make a statement is fine but why do it so...uselessly? It felt kind of a anime cliche 101. I also thought the sneaking in to the base was dumb and that the characters were smarter than that.

Overall the weakest volume so far but still very enjoyable. I've seen the anime so I know things are going to heart up soon but this one was kind of a lul in comparison to the first two exciting arcs.

"I think highly of your zeal... But if i may gave you one piece of advice. When faced with an enemy...Fight even if your arms and legs are torn off. That is what it means to be a professional, Amon."- Kureo Mado

I really enjoyed the scenes that weren't in the Manga. Throughout the book, I really tend to enjoy Hiami's bravery and and how fragile she is. It was also very inspirational what Kaneki thought about ghouls and Humans alike.

things are getting more interesting. and kineki this gallant gesture would get him killed. I'm still enjoying it and connecting the character's even more.

I liked this volume a lot, not as much as volume 2, though. However, I love the plot development, and how Kaneki is starting to accept his half-Ghoul body now.
