The Golden Symbol (Kilenya Series, 6) Reviews

In this ! Final! Installation of the series, Jacob and his friends work together to fight off evil once and for all.

This series was tied up really really nicely. I enjoyed the fact that the war only took up part of the end as opposed to the entire book - it helped a lot, since I don't do fight scenes very well.

Overall, I really enjoyed this series! I'm glad that I decided to pick up all of them at once, or else I probably would have hated myself in between books with the way they ended!

I would rate this series 4 stars overall - a solid, good fantasy read with a great cast of characters.

Oh, and Andrea Pearson? If you ever read this... Eachan with a Super Soaker will rule my world forever.

Over the last six books Jacob has grown up - a lot in less than a year. This final book in the series provides a suitable conclusion with an epic battle and suitable rewards for the winners. Jacob even manages to make the first steps in developing a relationship with - a girl. One or two dangling threads - but only the most finnicky nit-picker (me) is going to wonder how Jacob's family were able to settle in America so easily and stay under the radar so well for the boys to grow up and then drop out of sight... Unless Dmitri is going to continue to live a double life as king of Gevkan and still maintain his boring earth accountancy job, of course.

I'd managed to miss the Coolidge connection until I read the extract from 'Conceal', the next book in the Mosaic Chronicles - but at least I now know why the Kilenya books are bundled with the first five Mosaic books!

Fabulous conclusion to the Kilenya Chronicles! Epic battles, quests fulfilled, curses broken, magic shared, King crowned, what more could we ask for? Andrea Pearson has closed out a beloved series in grand style, with a teaser tie-in to The Mosaic Chronicles to whet your appetite, and dull the sadness of goodbye.

Jacob is still faced with the search for the Lorkon antidote with so many possible sites. The Lorkon will be back in less than two months! In that time he must master his Shiengol abilities, and build his confidence to defeat them.

The whole kingsom is preparing for the coming war. Will Dimitri gather enough supporters to bolster his army in time? Can they retrieve the scroll and prepare the antidote in such short order?

The last book of the series was fantastic! First, Jacob goes on a quest to find the special ingredients to the Lorkon antidote. Of course it was a difficult journey climbing treacherous cliffs, crawling in tunnels with not much room to move and breathe, and fighting off certain enemies. But the best part of all was the last battle against the Lorcon and Keitus. Pearson’s description of it had me dumbfounded in wonder at how well written it was. She managed to keep my spellbound with everything that was happening. And the outcome couldn’t have been better. Without a doubt this was an awesome last book and an awesome series. Highly recommended.

All good things must come to an end, and the Kilenya series has been a very good thing indeed. I'm not going to describe the plot, as others have done a good job doing so and I don't want to risk any spoilers, but things do indeed come together for a very satisfying conclusion. It's been a great (six book) run, and the finish is one that it deserved. Loads of fun and most definitely recommended for anyone who has been reading the Kilenya books.

I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.

For this story I highly recommend reading all the books in a very quick succession. If you put this series down and pick it up again it will be hard on you. It was hard on me. I had to reread, because I was utterly confused about what happened when. But I recommend this for the amazing plot and character building that this author does!

I wonder what task Jacob was asked to do and how does Coolidge have powers as well?

When I read the first of Andrea Pearson’s series, Kilenya, I was hooked and have been following her series for a few years.
She took me on Jacob’s adventures where he learned that he was not originally from the planet earth, but was a prince of a place in another world. A place where the Lorkons had been trying to take control. He learned of powers he had no idea he possessed and was trained to use them. Jacob was the only one that could save the inhabitants that had yet to be controlled by the terrible, poisonous Lorkons.
She took me through the emotions of traveling in places where there was no light and of course, no vision, where there was no sound (no hearing), where the senses didn’t work and only wit could conquer.
The Golden Symbol, the sixth and last of Andrea’s series was no let down, other than the fact that I couldn’t put her book down. I had to know. Did Jacob and his father, the King conquer the Lorkons, or did the Molgs, the Dusts, the infected humans and all that the Lorkons controlled take over? I was surprised by the outcome, but far from disappointed. This is a great story.
Andrea writes for young adults, so I must be young at heart as I loved this story. I hear she’s starting on a new series. I hate waiting, but I’ll be keeping an eye out for it.

I started this book sooooo long ago and then, this summer, I set myself a goal to finish many of the series which I had begun and just never got around to completing. The challenge I faced with these is that I had been away from them for so long that I had forgotten who some of the characters were and their significance to the story line. Once I finally got back into reading this I couldn't put it down. I just had to know how things turned out. Throughout this entire series I've been amazed at the author's ability to create alternate worlds, different types of characters, and then keep it all straight. This was a thoroughly enjoyable series that I hope some of my 6th grade students will choose to pick up and enjoy. With school starting tomorrow I'll definitely be looking for an opportunity to introduce it to them very soon. Well done Andrea Pearson. Thanks for the ride.

The Golden Symbol, Book 6 – Kilenya Series
I read this book in the box set series of books four through six.
Since book 2 (or maybe even back in book 1), we’ve known that war was coming. And while there have been a number of skirmishes I each book, the big war finally occurs in this story. Jacob combines the use of his many magical abilities, but this is definitely not a one-person war from the good-guys side. So many of the characters contribute abilities, expertise, and creative thinking in attempting to defeat the overwhelming forces on the bad-guys side.
I sighed in contentment at the end. The only reason I didn’t pout in disappointment (that the series was over) is because I know several of the characters show up again later in the Mosaic Chronicles. ~lol~

Well, it's over, and I was not disappointed. Overall I thought this was a great YA series, and I would be interested to see what else this author comes out with.

  • Rachel

Another great book! The writing is great and it was hard to put down. This was a great way to end the series!
