Blurb: “Freeze or I’ll shoot!” Aaron yelled and aimed the gun at Jordan’s chest.
“Angel, no, please.” Hacking fluid-filled coughs broke up Jordan’s words.
“Jordan?” Aaron whispered his name as recognition painted a mural of memories of their life together on his face.
“Yes.” He coughed red into his dirty hand. “Please help.”
So begins Angel’s Truth, the sequel to Angel’s Hero. Army Captain Jordan Collins arrives home, only to find the man responsible for his imprisonment, torture, and near-execution with his husband. Had his Angel moved on without him?
Aaron “Angel” Collins has driven his family and friends away in his quest to learn the truth of Jordan’s fate, leaving only Major General Troy Hart willing to help him. When Jordan miraculously returns, with a spirit more broken than his body, Aaron realizes Hart was really a liar with an agenda of his own. Aaron is unable to take time to heal his own emotional wounds, because he and Jordan learn Hart’s betrayal is even greater than they originally believed, threatening the entire nation. Now the reunited couple must race against time to keep a promise to Jordan’s savior and prevent Hart from bringing terrorism once again to American soil.

This is a dual-review of books 1 and 2 in Liz Borino's Angel Series
These books are not stand-alones. They must be read together and in order.

My Review:
I had problems with this read, but I followed through and found some virtues in the end. There was a set up to a bigger world with espionage, but that part was left off the page, unfortunately. The plot was good, but had gaps, and often the writing was awkward and even stereotypical at points.
THE CHARACTERS
Jordan Larson - Army Captain - A flirt and brat. Tortured and driven.
Aaron Collins (Angel) - CIA. Seven feet tall.
Troy Hart - The creepy bad guy, and Aaron's superior.
Adeela - Double agent, nurse, spy, conspirator? She's a wonderful, unknown surprise.
Normally I can really add strong descriptors of the characters pointing out things that stood out to me. But, both of the MC's felt flat to me. Like they were the same character. Without the use of their names, I wouldn't have known the difference between the two.
THE STORY
The established relationship was a good start, we know that the characters have background, so when Jordan is sent on a mission that he believes is being mishandled by the military and the government it is understandable that Aaron senses something is wrong. Aaron, who normally is "in" on this type of mission is being shut out.
It seems that these guys have something of a psychic connection, but unfortunately this isn't explored or fleshed out either. It really could have been one of the more exciting structures of the story, but it was only hinted at. Another aspect left unexplored was Troy's motivations for his actions.
I like Adeela. She's a good, strong character in an impossible position.
THE WRITING
Awkward sentence structure, wild timeline hopping and unfortunately a lousy formatted .pdf combined to make this an uncomfortable read for me. I just could never relax into the story.
Never had Jordan concentrated so hard not to see a place as he had not to catch sight of his house.
There was a sex scene in the middle of discussing potential rape and court martial that was terribly misplaced and very uncomfortable. Other sex scenes were cut off and clipped. Then: Jordan slid his tongue along the crease of Aaron's lips, unzipping them.
The brother and father characters were unnecessary and annoying. The father seemed to really only have one purpose, which came at the end of the story. It felt like he was just stuck in, here and there, to take up page space. This could have been handled differently.
There was also some unfortunate stereotyping;
"I shop at Bloomingdale's and Neimen Marcus." Troy's voice heightened in the way gay men's did when they had to ensure that whoever they were speaking to had no doubt about their sexuality. [...]
I think, in a nutshell, what went wrong here is the author tried to squeeze too much into this rather short story. It stayed still in some areas and then ran past others. At one point in the book it says the antagonist "had been messing with them for years", but I thought the whole timeline was only months long.
A few bright spots did develop. Adeela was clever and her dialogue was the best in the story, despite or maybe because of her halted speech pattern. Also, I really believe that the author's plot line was well structured. I think that if she just slows down, paints a more vivid picture and doesn't worry about stuffing sex scenes in to please some readers that she can give us "more" in future books.

2.5/5
Now that the exciting of the plot is over, the writing really stagger the rest of the story. -
Angel’s Truth contains the 64-page second chunk of a story about two men married to each other who are separated by the demands of their jobs. Because it picks up right where its 79-page prequel Angel’s Hero broke off, you will have to buy Angel’s Hero and read it first to know what is going on in Angel’s Truth. I have to wonder why the two chunks of story were not just combined to avoid cliffhangers and make one convenient, average size 143-page novel.
This book lacks the utterly preposterous plot holes of the first book that
made me question if the author and editors bothered to do any basic research to support the military thriller plot. Aside from not being able to stand on its own as a separate book, Angel’s Truth is stronger than Angel’s Hero because it avoids the two-timeline story that made Angel’s Hero so weak: the flimsy chapters detailing Jordan and Aaron’s courtship in the past that alternated with the more compelling present-day chapters concerning Jordan’s dilemma. In Angel’s Truth, the plot reunites Jordan and Aaron in a quest to find proof of the villain’s evil deeds against Jordan. As in the prequel, the author’s writing style is smooth and competent.
However, smooth writing and a more streamlined plot still aren’t enough to make this book even a three-star read. Overall, the action unfolds in a lackluster, rushed way. There is no real suspense. The proof of the villain’s misdeeds is amazingly easy to obtain. The villain’s retaliation is predictable and obvious as is his swift and inevitable fate. There are no twists and setbacks in this plot. Even a rescue mission back to Afghanistan is glossed over in only two pages! Do yourself a favor and avoid this uninspired two-book offering and treat yourself to one of the countless better m/m military thrillers out there. (This book was received for free by the publisher via Hearts on Fire Reviews in exchange for an honest review.) -
Wow, what a great beginning to book two. The last novella ended at the most inopportune time and I could not wait to open the sequel to see how it played out.
Jordan has made it home. It was totally unlikely that it was ever going to happen, but no matter what the government says about accepting help from the enemy there was no way Jordan would live otherwise. What else is a POW scheduled for execution supposed to do? He is not a traitor, but the victim of a traitor…now he has to prove it.
Aaron is a solid, unflappable rock for Jordan…and he should be at over seven feet tall (which was really hard for me picture, quite honestly, so in my head he was closer to six feet six). These two men have each other’s back in all things and it’s not a surprise that they have lasted for eleven years, and I foresee many more years in their future.
But coming home was the easy part for these guys and now they have to fight to keep Jordan out of prison at home. Seriously, how fair is it to survive as a POW in the desert, forgotten and forsaken by your country, only to be considered a risk to your homeland when you are forced to save yourself? Jordan and Aaron are both very smart, very capable men and together they find that information to prove his innocence…and the guilt of a supposed friend.
The timeline and continuity of all aspects of this story is spot on. You could easily read both books back to back and feel as if it were one novel. I still was left wanting more, but was vested in both Jordan and Aaron and genuinely liked them both. Match that with the mystery and family issues, it turned out to be a really good read.
Overall Impression: I really liked it

(I received a free copy of this book from Lazy Day Publishing, through NetGalley, in exchange for a review).
(This review may contain spoilers).
I felt this book was easier to follow than the previous one. It was nice that it picked up straight from where book one ended.
I liked Aaron's and Jordan's relationship even more here and I felt that the way they dealt with Jordan's injuries made sense - the PTSD and flashbacks, as well as Aaron's struggle to know what to do to help his husband. And, of course, the physical recovery as well.
This book was a bit more intense to read and I felt that the characters faced more danger as a whole. There was also far less skipping over of important events.
There were a few things that made me smile in the book - particularly when Aaron and Adeela talked on Skype. (On a side note, Adeela said a lot of what I was thinking about the military's reaction to what happened to Jordan and him escaping).
I did notice a few errors, though nothing too major. I could also really feel the emotion between Aaron and Jordan.
I would definitely be interested in reading more books by this author in the future. -
This is the follow up to Angel's Hero and it was amazing! You must read Angel's Hero before you read this book in order to understand the sequence of events. This story picks up right where the first one left off. Aaron and Jordan are reunited and this one carries you further into the story by explaining what happened to Jordan while he was a POW. Jordan knows who was behind all of this, but he slowly reveals all of this to Aaron. They work together to expose what happened and in the process grow more deeply in love with each other.
Again, I love the world that Liz creates along with very realistic characters that you can relate with on many different levels. The bond between Jordan and Aaron grows even stronger in this book and I loved watching them work through everything. The secondary characters are so vital to the story and you find yourself loving them as much as Aaron and Jordan. This was a great ending to this series! I recommend this to anyone that loves books that keep you guessing along with a very sweet love story. I can't wait to read more from this amazing author. Thanks so much for sharing your talent with me Liz! -
Good continuation, but should have been combined with the first one. Writing is as flat as before, but good dialogue in most cases. Uneven characterization of the villain. Did not understand his motives.
This book is not a standalone and must be read after the first one.

Tams Review: 5 ♥♥♥♥♥ Hearts
Angel and Jordan Collins are reunited after weeks apart with everyone believing that Jordan had died in an Iraqi prison. Everyone but Angel, he never stopped believing his husband was alive. He alienated most of his friends and family in the process. But Major General Troy Hart was there, a shoulder for Angel to cry on. Turns out Hart had his own agenda all along.
With Jordan back home safe and in Angel’s arms they can breathe easy, right? Wrong! Jordan is suffering slight symptoms of PTSD that are fuelled by anger and jealously. He doesn’t even want to think about what Hart could have done to his beloved Angel if he hadn’t come home when he did. And the US military is threatening to court marshal him due to circumstances surrounding his imprisonment and subsequent escape.
Angel is by his side through it all. Their love for each other and the strength they gain from that love is only enhanced by their devotion to their country. First they have to contend with the threat at home to themselves, their families and their country. Then they have to go back to where it all started to try and rescue the Iraqi woman that risked everything to get Jordan home to his Angel.
Everything comes full circle in this installment. Everyone’s true intentions are laid out on the table and all the questions I had after Hero were answered. Not to be corny, but the truth comes out. Were the first book sort of skimmed some of the more serious aspects, this book fully explored and explained them. Nonstop action and some serious drama kept a steady pace throughout. If this is the end of this series, it definitely gave closure and ended well. But I would love to see Angel and Jordan sitting on the back porch, covered in grandchildren saying no and stop that!
Cat’s Review: 5 ♥♥♥♥♥ Hearts
This is book two in this series and you should read them in order.
Jordan has returned from being a POW and not sure of his fate since his escape was very unorthodox. Angel believes him and his eager to help him get his life back so they can move on.
Jordan’s PTSD is harder on both men than they expected it to be and Jordan fears he could lose Angel as well as end up back in jail if they can’t prove who is behind this and keep him from being court martialled.
I have to say I absolutely loved this story. I was intrigued with book one but this one was just as nail-biting. A couple unexpected twists left me breathless in anticipation. As in the first book the love between these two men was so sexy and breath-taking though its mostly off the page. The author’s style makes it as good as if you had it blow by blow. I found it very sensual and sexy.
I highly recommend it if you like Nail-biting military suspense, Cia agents, covert operations, sensual off page sex and loving relationships that endure hell.
Gigi’s Review: 4 ♥♥♥♥ Hearts
We pick up this story in the heat of the action, Jordan has just staggered home after getting out of Afghanistan by questionable means. Once Aaron gets past the shock of seeing his dead husband returned, and once Jordan is cleared medically, Aaron is left to pick up the pieces. Jordan wants to know for sure who was behind his capture and why? He also needs to clear his name and avoid a courts marshall because of how he managed to escape his captivity as a POW.
Aaron is seething mad because the only person who supported him when he refused to believe in his husband’s death, was Troy Hart, the very man Jordan swears is behind this whole deadly game. One tiny glitch in the very start of this book involved Troy. When Jordan arrives home, Troy and Aaron are inside his house, and once the action develops, suddenly Troy is outside Aaron and Jordan’s door and just seems to disappear. Maybe fleshing that out in subsequent edits will help clarify, but I can easily get past it.
The book centers around the covert ways Aaron and Jordan investigate the situation and pry information from Troy. All the while they are both coping with both physical and psychological damage from Jordan’s time as a POW. Can they manage to heal, or will Jordan’s dependency and flashbacks take it’s toll on their relationship?
One of my favorite supporting characters returns in this story, Adeela, the nurse who helped Jordan escape Afghanistan, and she’s ready to do whatever it takes to aid Jordan in solving this crime. Getting herself out of Afghanistan before the US military strikes and even the innocent civilians including her become casualties of war, becomes a priority. She’s one tough nurse, and I’m thrilled by what developments the story holds to include her in Jordan and Aaron’s life!
Again, Liz Borino provides us with nail biting, down to the wire excitement. As far as sexual content, it’s there when it needs to be, but otherwise suggested when details aren’t necessary. Never a dull moment, and I thoroughly enjoyed both books. -
Double Review!!!
4 Stars from Crystal Marie:
I completely recommend reading the first book in the series Angel’s Hero first, before you start reading this one. That way you can fully understand what is happening in this book.
With the way that Angel’s Hero ended, I couldn’t wait to start reading this book! I have learned that the author is amazing at cliffhangers, but that doesn’t mean that I still enjoy them.
I have to say with this book though; Aaron showed an amazing amount of growth in my opinion. It was amazing to watch as he was dealing with everything yet he still stayed strong and determined. Don’t get me wrong, Jordan was still amazing in this book, but for me personally I enjoyed Aaron’s character a lot more.
I really did like the fact that the author kept the drama going from the first book into this one. As well as expanding upon it in such a way that every question I had from the beginning were answered during the course of this book.
My only complaint with this book would be how quickly everything was settled come the ending of the book. I suppose that I was hoping for more of a bang and it just ended rather quickly for me.
Overall though, I did completely enjoy this book and I can’t wait to see what the author has for us in the future.
5 Stars from Tbird:
Now we have the conclusion to Aaron and Jordan’s rocky mystery. When the first book ended Aaron was trying to re-establish a new normal life after hearing his husband Jordan had been killed in Afghanistan, when someone walked in the back door of the house. Aaron grabbing his weapon went to investigate only to find his husband Jordan in bad physical shape begging him not to shoot.
After the shock of seeing Jordan alive Aaron got him to the hospital and while he was recovering Jordan explained how Adeela had been his nurse in the POW prison and had helped him escape. He couldn’t tell the military about her and what she had uncovered because it was a violation of the military code to accept help from the enemy. He also had to explain that Aaron’s friend Troy was behind this and he had no proof to back his claim. He was going to have to beg Aaron to just trust him.
Of course Aaron was going to believe his husband, they were connected so deeply, he knew Jordan wasn’t making this up. We go on the journey with these two men to seek the truth behind Troy’s involvement in time to keep Jordan from being dishonorably discharged from the military for accepting Adeela’s help, which could alone land him in jail once again. Also dealing with his injuries and the PTSD of the torture he was inflicted with Jordan has to solve this mystery before his father, husband and friend Adeela loses their life.
I loved the ending when the truth has come out and everyone knows what really happen. The dedication and loyalty both Jordan and Aaron have to Adeela if heartwarming and the love they have for Jordan’s dad was fantastic. While not all relationships could be repaired from the first book it was nice that the author didn’t leave us hanging, we were able to see where it ended.
This was another short book in the series but it packs a huge amount of drama and action between the covers. We not only see the real loving relationship between Jordan and Aaron, we get to find the evidence that is needed to save Jordan while they fight the American government and military. I was outraged at the policies they had to violate just to prove his innocence but I was in love with the dedication they showed to not only each other but those innocent people in Afghan.
While this book is about a love story, there is a deeper message in the plot. What we are asking our military personal to do while not giving them the measures to protect them or have the right to clear their names is insane. This story is well written and once again you are just drawn in on the first page. I highly recommend this series and if you are afraid of the m/m sex, rest assured it isn’t graphic, drawn out or distasteful. The author gave us a very well balanced book that relies on the plot more than the sex. The message alone is worth any discomfort you might have with the m/m relationship. -
Part II of the Angel Books starts where Part I left off – Jordan has somehow managed to escape POW confinement and gotten himself home, with no help from the Army or US government. And that is a problem because now he’s accused of accepting aid from an enemy. His mangled body requires immediate hospitalization, something Aaron has to force on Jordan who is fearful of getting put in prison again.
Aaron and Jordan have five weeks to get proof that Troy ordered Jordan’s imprisonment and then his death. They have to use every stealthy technique at their disposal to get the information they need and the result is another opportunity for one of them to be killed.
In the end they need to save themselves and the nurse who saved Jordan’s life, even though she has been targeted for assassination by the US Army. This is a gripping spy thriller. The sex, because these two guys are hot for each other, is scorching and a welcome diversion from all the skullduggery. Even Jordan’s father is not immune to being a target by this triple crossing agent.
I loved the finale of this story. The use of the word “quiet” is like a bomb going off in the story. You’ll have to read it to understand. I admit I would love to have more stories about what Jordan and Aaron are doing after they separate from the Army and CIA. Please, Ms. Borino?
I had the opportunity to interview Jordan to find out a little more about him…
1. Hello, Jordan. How are you coming along with your physical recovery and your PTSD symptoms?
Jordan: I’m coming along. My ankle is healing and I can breathe again… most of the time. I’ll probably struggle with PTSD for a long time to come. But I’m identifying my triggers, which allows me to better manage the symptoms.
2. Do you think your mother's death was part of a sinister plot or a true accident?
Jordan: Oh, please don’t say that so loudly. I don’t want Aaron getting any new ideas. *laughs* It was a tragic accident, nothing more.
3. When it comes to sex, what is your favorite way to pleasure your husband?
Jordan: If I’m pleasuring him, his preference should be the most important, no? Then again, I enjoy making him happy… Sorry, I got distracted. My favorite way to pleasure him is by waking him up with a blow job.
4. You’ve been accused of everything from lying to treason. How has that affected your ability to trust people?
Jordan: Wow, sex to treason is quite a subject change. The truth is, I’ve known all along who I can trust, and the majority of the people above me in the Army are moral leaders doing the best they can. One bad apple high up can ruin the whole organization.
5. How old were you when you realized you were gay and how did that affect you?
Jordan: I was sixteen. And it made me more careful. I always planned to go into the Army, which meant I couldn’t be as open as I would have liked. But it also taught me to read people because I did not have room for errors in who I pursued.
6. Let’s go with some fast round questions…
a. Eat out or dine at home?
Jordan: Home.
b. Smooth, manscaped, or hairy?
Jordan: I allow myself to be as hairy as possible below the neck… which is to say not very much at all. Curse of Asian blood.
c. Soft and slow or rough and up against the wall?
Jordan: Depends on the moment. I’m not going to limit myself to one. -
4 stars
Aaron ad Jordan have been together for 11 years. Their relationship is one of mutual respect, adoration and loyalty. They were scheduled to work together on a mission overseas, but Aaron (Angel) was told that he was going to be replaced by another agent.
Both agree that this will be the last time they will be separated over work and are looking forward to start their 'new life' as soon as Jordan returns from his mission. However, their lives are turned upside down by the actions of another man who decided to get rid of Jordan so he could get his hands on Aaron.
Once again, Liz Borino delivers a great story that combines romance and an intriguing plot without one element outshining the other.
I loved watching Jordan and Aaron together. I admit that sometimes their 'lovey-dovey' ways had me rolling my eyes, but their bond was genuine and their love for each other palpable. My only complaint would be that I wish I could have seen more of how their connection as it developed over the years. However, Liz Borino did a great job of bringing their already established connection forth so I could overlook that minor fact.
I enjoyed the way the author went about telling the story. The use of flashbacks gave glimpses into Jordan and Aaron's relationship and the dual POVs helped me to understand how deeply connected these two were and how their situation at the moment had affected them.
The plot was intriguing if a little over the top. But every fact and every event fell into place nicely.
I'm a sucker for emotions and this one didn't disappoint. I loved the way the story flowed. From Aaron's denial that Jordan was gone, his heartbreak at finally accepting his death and his surprise at seeing him again to Jordan's determination to get back home, his anger at the man who betrayed them and his yearning to return to his Angel, the emotions both characters portrayed felt real and appropriate.
In this installment, every event and every revelation was written and placed to cause the greatest impact on the reader - be it Aaron's acceptance of Jordan's death, Jordan's escape or the confrontation with Troy.
Troy. *shiver* that's one man that gives me the creeps. Kudos to Liz for such a slimy villain.
All in all, a suspenseful military romance where a couple's bond is put to the test and made deeper when their world is turn on its axis by an ambitious man hell-bound on keeping them apart.
*I received these titles through NetGalley in exchange of my honest opinion.

In a Nutshell: These books must be read together because book one ends on a huge cliffhanger. I really liked the characters and the setup of these two books but they were badly in need of editing, both in style and content.
Why I Read this Book: I enjoy established couples in romance novels and put both men in uniform and I’m really happy!
What I Liked: I really liked these characters and their relationship. I liked how the author does some flashbacks to show readers how Aaron and Jordan meet as well as their first date and how they were married. This invested me in the men’s established relationship which was well done.
I also liked the characters of Aaron and Jordan as well as the life they’ve built together. Aaron is a CIA agent and Jordan an army captain but that’s just their jobs; readers get more like how they grew up and what makes them individuals. I love the moments of calm when the men are post-coital talking about their future plans or the flashbacks to times they supported each other like when Jordan had a family crisis. They had believable issues given the circumstances and I liked how the book made the men talk about these issues.
What I Also Liked: Even though the plot was convoluted and badly in need of editing, it kept my attention. Jordan’s kidnapping and how he returns home drives the book and I was riding right along. Jordan meets someone in captivity who turns out more complex than I initially thought and I liked this a lot.
What I Didn’t Like: I hate to say it but this book needed some serious style and content editing. Superficial errors were there – like words missing or spelled incorrectly, which I can sort of ignore. But the most egregious errors were in the plot. For example, someone would be in a scene talking and suddenly he disappears. There was a huge scene at book one’s conclusion so I re-read that part to see when I missed that person’s exit but found nothing. The most puzzling though was I had no idea what the motivations of the bad guy were—none. The entire plot focuses on this person’s actions, which keep Jordan away from Aaron, and I had no idea why he’d do this—that’s a content issue a good editor would have picked up on.
IMO: With some good editing these two books (which should be one) would be a four star read but with all the content and style errors this is just an okay read.

Everyone should have an Angel!
In this second instalment of the Angel series everything comes out in the light. We find out who has not only been playing at a double agent, but a triple agent too and put Jordan's life in danger while he was in Afghanistan - the dirty rat bastard! It is difficult to write a long review on this book as I would just be giving too much of the plot of away and we wouldn't want that now would we? Suffice to say that in the second book we get our just rewards on the person that has been making Angel’s and Jordan’s life unbearable – HA!
I did like the way that the threads start to come together and the trap for the perpetrator gets smaller until he is backed into a corner. However, this was something that Jordan and Angel had to do themselves as no one believes them at the beginning and they have to collect the evidence to convict this person themselves. Here Angel becomes the heroic guy, putting his life at risk to get the info needed. Jordan still out of action due to his injuries. But as the noose tightens Angel's life is threatened.
The story made for a fast paced read. So much so that I just felt I was a little lost with things at times whilst trying to put all the threads together. I just couldn't seem to make them add up sometimes, however this is only my own personal feeling. Liz does a great job in keeping the reader on the edge of their seats with new revelations, twists and turns. There is even a happy end for the nurse that helped Jordan when he was in the Afghani prison. This was a nice touch that made me feel really good.
It is obvious that Angel and Jordan are so in love with each other that either of them would be prepared to lay down their life for the other. A story about an established love and relationship that is put to the test. Therefore both books are an enjoyable read, but I would suggest getting both and then reading with no break. I was glad I didn't have to wait ages for book two considering the cliff-hanger book one ends on.

I Received An ARC Of This Book In Exchange For My Honest Review!
This book picks up right where Angel's Hero left off and I absolutely loved it. You do have to read Angel's Hero before reading this book. You will understand what's happening and the events that have led up to our current situation.
Aaron (Angel) and Jordan are reunited at the beginning of the story after Jordan's escape from Afghanistan. What makes this so emotional is that Angel was told and showed evidence that he had died in a prison over there after being captured. Things aren't easy for them when Jordan returns home. Besides being a POW and suffering from PTSD due to what happened to him in the Iraqi prison. Jordan knows who's responsible for what happened to him but if he can't prove it he can be court martialed and possibly sent to prison. Jordan can't go back to prison not after what he's been through. Angel believes his husband and will do anything he can to help Jordan out and prevent that from happening. He just got his husband back and he's not letting him go without a fight.
I know I said it before but I'm gonna say it again...I loved this book. Liz Borino managed to keep me on my toes throughout the book. There were a couple times she even managed to surprise me. This story is full of action and drama. Jordan and Angel make the story and love each other so much. You see them grow closer as events unfold in the story. Everything will finally come full circle in this book. A definite must read. -
I received a copy of this book via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.
This book is the second in the Angel series, and picks up where the first book left off.
Aaron "Angel" Collins, former CIA agent, is devastated by the death of his husband Capt. Jordan Collins while on a mission to rescue 20 POW in Afghanistan. He is slowing rebuilding his life with a new job and new friendship with Maj. Gen. Troy Hart. That is, until Jordan returns. Jordan is nervous that Angel may have moved on, but he is too sick to reveal what he knows about Troy's actions and motives for Jordan's last deployment.
While recuperating, Jordan is stressed that he may face a court material for accepting enemy aid to escape his captors and imminent execution. He knows Troy was behind his capture, and even ordered his death, and enlists Angel to get the needed proof. Angel's hacking reveals the extent of Troy's espionage and treason, but can't protect those Jordan loves from Troy's retribution.
It's a high stakes gamble that nearly kills Angel. The resolution ties up all the loose ends from the first book, and is HEA all the way.
Considering how completely the story was resolved, I can't fathom why it was told in two parts. The romance is rock solid, and the spy aspect was well written. -
A
Joyfully Jay review.

Angel’s Truth is the second book in a two-part set that began with Angel’s Hero. It picks up at the cliffhanger where we left the first book and completes the story. After the shock of finding Jordan is alive, the guys still face a lot of hurdles here, the first being that Jordan is gravely ill and injured. Between being on crutches and the nightmares and emotional trauma of his ordeal, he is very dependent on Aaron and it is hard to be away from him. I think the book really captures Aaron’s shock of seeing Jordan alive nicely. He has been through such a roller coaster of denial, grief, and eventual acceptance that he is barely able to comprehend these new developments. So I think Borino gets this part really right as Aaron has to totally adapt to this shocking new reality of both Jordan being alive, and the man he thought was his friend being the one responsible for all the horrors.

Nanee's Review:
Loved this book as much as book one. The author takes you on a wild ride emotionally, I wanted to take matters into my own hands, I wanted to scream, yell and throw something with the injustices done to Jordan and our country. Jordan was protecting his country while a scumbag was filling his pockets. I loved how Jordan and Angel never lost hope of finding the truth, they never gave up on each other and they kept their promises. I loved how strong Angel's love is for Jordan, just a touch or word would calm Jordan fears. I loved Elliott Jordan's father and Adeela. I love how neither Jordan or Angel when the chips have fallen take no for a answer, their fighters. Liz Borino knows how to tell a story that's for sure, I hope I didn't give too much away I didn't want to ruin anything. This story has it all and the sexy lovin is icing on the cake. 5 stars review by Nanee at upallnightreadallday.blogspot.com -
Aaron “Angel” Collins has driven his family and friends away because he has not accepted the death of his husband. The only person that has stuck by him is Major General Troy Hart. Troy is attracted to Aaron and seems to use everything he can to get Aaron to fall for him.
Aaron is surprised by the re-appearance of Jordan. He is also taken back by how broken inside and out Jordan is especially with the Court Marshall upcoming as to how he arrived home. Aaron figures out who is to blame and set off to protect not just himself but Jordan as well.
Angel’s Truth is the second book in the Angel series by Liz Borino. This book is part of a series and is best read in order to best understand the plot and characters. I found this book well written. The main and secondary characters were interesting and realistic. Overall, I loved this story. I wonder if there will be another story about these characters in the future. I hope so. -
Liz Borino is an author I put on my TBR list quite a while ago but never got round to reading. You guys know how that is right? That list of books and authors we want to read, just as soon as we find the time, would probably fill a room if it was an actual, physical pile rather than a file on our e-readers.
So when these two titles came up for review and the blurbs flashed words like CIA and military, well hello soldier, I was more than happy to volunteer to read them.

I received a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
After finishing Angel’s Hero, I couldn’t wait to start this story. It didn’t disappoint. I loved it as much as Angel’s Hero. Again it was well-written and easy-to-read. We finally got to see the truth overcome the lies. I was so glad that Aaron and Jordan were reunited. I again loved the loyalty Aaron and Jordan showed each other. It also dealt lightly with the issues of PTSD and how everyone in a family is affected by it. I loved how this story ended. I was very happy with the outcome for all the characters.

Now, I love her books and I always love her endings. The in between is good too! I kept thinking on this story and who was pulling the strings. High ranking officials who had Jordan tortured and almost killed. I do not like to give away to many details and ruin it for the people who have yet to read it. So, I will stop there. This is a good read. I really would have liked a little more pull between Troy and Aaron. Well, not on Aaron's part, but on Troy's. Maybe, some of what he was thinking and why. Always love this author.
I received this ARC from the author via Net Galley for my honest review. Thank you, Net Galley! -
A pretty good ending to this series. I love that Jordan got home and uncovered the things he did. Aaron finally got the relief he needed after fighting for everyone to believe him about Jordan. The only thing that irritated me was everybody believing that Aaron could cheat or move on after Jordan being gone for only a month. I mean, they've been in a committed relationship for 11 years and everybody just assumes Aaron is ready to hop on somebody else with no period of mourning. So that was basically why I only gave this book the four stars.
Thanks to Netgalley for the ARC. -
Now that Jordan has found his way back home, the real fight for justice is about to begin. He knows who was behind his imprisonment in Afghanistan. With Aaron by his side, these two will stop at nothing to get the truth out. Vengeance is going to be sweet.

This is the second story about Hero and Angel. Hero finds his way home. But he still cannot prove who set him up and why. Hero works with his husband Angel to solve the mystery. They learn who they can trust and who they cannot, while making an unlikely ally. They learn that the problem is bigger than them and concerns national security. I really enjoyed the second book and would recommend it to others.

The two books in the series are really one story with the second one picking up at the same scene which the first ended. Their teamwork was fantastic, as was the way Aaron's support meant so much to Jordan's mental health and healing. The whole story was enjoyable and the villains were truly despicable characters.

I was asked to review this for Netgalley. The story carries on from where Angel's Hero finished. Aaron 'Angel' Collins and Jordan Collins are tracking down Troy Hart who has been at the centre of all this commotion. Adeela Nadar is Jordan's saviour, can he rescue her and keep his promise to get her out or will it be too late. All will be revealed in Angel's Truth.
