Irons in the Fire Reviews
-
A collection of Brand's football related columns for the Guardian. Hilarious if you love football and Brand's style of comedy.
-
The book is nothing more than a collection of columns Brand wrote for some British newspaper in relation to his devotion to his favorite football team. I've always enjoyed his sharp wit, so this was reasonably enjoyable. I didn't understand all the references, having little-to-no knowledge of the history of the English Premiership, West Ham United, or the English national squad. Any sports fan, however, can find some common ground with some of the feelings Brand emotes in his writings if able to get around whatever feelings you have about the particulars.
-
i am probably a bit of a sucker for this book because i'm west ham til i die and i love russell brand. his self-effacing writing style is hilarious and his wit is razor sharp. however, if you have no interest in football (the rest of the world's version) this might not be the book for you.

I guess I'll read anything Russell writes, 'cos he's sexy! But I am finding Henglish football more interesting than ever-
-
An entertaining collection of Brand's very good sports column.
