The wild and sexy Whip Smart series is based on the audaciously cosmopolitan, uniquely influential and true-life historical figure, Lola Montez the actress-turned-political bad girl of Victorian times. In her most flamboyant adventure yet, Lola Montez gallops to Bavaria and on an outrageous dare, seduces King Ludwig I. The aging royal cannot resist her fascinating moves as a Spanish dancer, nor the exciting wardrobe malfunction which ensues. As their scandalous love affair gains momentum, all of Europe seethes with an explosive unrest not seen since the French Revolution. During the opening months of 1848, Lola finds herself the target of a terrifying witch hunt, and it will take her considerable wiles to not only save herself but foment a revolution that can change the known world.

Written in Brennan s signature fun, sexy style, Lola Montez Starts a Revolution sequentially continues Lola s adventures from France (in book two Lola Montez and the Poisoned Nom de Plume) and Lola s origin story from England to Spain (in book one Lola Montez Conquers the Spaniards). And coming soon, book four Lola Montez Seduces America follows our flamboyant heroine to New York, Nicaragua and California."

Whip Smart: Lola Montez Starts a Revolution (Whip Smart, #3) Reviews

I love a fun read and this book certainly fits the bill. In fact, this book was pretty wild in spots. Lola is crazy! haha. The author has created a wild child that was certainly born before her time. An engaging read, you will never get bored with the heroines antics and secrets that she harbors.

While this book is the third in a series, it is a stand alone read, which I appreciate. I did not feel too lost as any reference to past escapades across continents was explained within the storyline. Lola is a very strong character and is open to adventure of all types, both body and mind. The story is set to a real life person, with a lot of creative license added for flair and a fun read.

If you love history, this historical romance includes a wonderful backdrop of European unrest and change that adds to the excitement of the story. The author has clearly done her research and has created an enlightened character that is willing to live life to the fullest, whatever that entails, while chasing her dreams and running from mobs! Not knowing who to trust, she has her work cut out for her.

For a sexy romp and humorous look at the past, the Lola Montez story is a fun read that will leave you looking for more antics from our heroine.

Fantastic new addition to the Lola Montez series. We start in mid-gallop as Lola rushes to a confrontation with perhaps her greatest adversary - her Irish mammy. From there she travels to Bavaria and becomes the mistress of King Ludwig, as the country unites in protest against her. I can't help but love this heroine even as I found myself mentally begging her to cut her losses and get out of town. Lola more often than not does not make the right decisions, but she is witty, courageous, determined, and really quite vulnerable. More swashbuckling adventure, great sex, and historical atmosphere, this time often with a strange dream-like quality. All this and a hot air balloon rescue. I'll be sad to see the end of this series.

I really enjoyed this delightful novel that I received through Goodreads Giveaways.
Though it is the third novel in a series, it stands alone. Lola Montez, based on a real person, is certainly a woman full of surprises.
The characters and plot are very plausible.
Lively, engaging and definitely a bit different.

I received a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

The first thing that I noticed and really commented on was the different time period. It was intriguing to go back to time periods I'd heard about and learned about in class, but this time have a character's interpretation of things. It certainly took some time to adjust to as I don't usually read a lot of books set in the past, but once I started to get that into my head, it got easier and easier to be drawn in.

As per usual, I didn't enjoy the first person perspective. The character was lively but I just don't enjoy that perspective. It didn't take away the interest I had in the book, it's just something I like to mention. It is continuing on from the previous books, and while there were a few small details that I felt were missing, the necessary events were at least explained in sufficient detail so that you didn't feel out of the loop while you were reading Whip Smart: Lola Montez Starts A Revolution.

Time seemed to pass quickly in the novel, which wasn't a bad thing but sometimes you felt as if you were racing from event to event. Which fit perfectly with the character, you just sometimes wanted to yell at her to slow down for a moment so you could catch your breath.

Whip Smart: Lola Montez Starts A Revolution was an energetic, for the most part lighthearted book. You'll never suffer a bored moment. So if you're looking for something a bit lighter with occasional moments of sadness or anger than please give it a chance!
