It's funny because I looked over reviews of this free Amazon book and found a lot of people saying how stupid the characters were, how unbelievable the story was, and yet they finished by saying that they still read the whole book. So, I guess I joined a club.
Points if you get this reference...
Actually, the inclusion of a scary clown might have helped this book... There were a lot of people who needed killing for the sake of Darwinism...

Okay, so our heroine, Madison, shows up to Jared's company looking for a job and ends up posing as his girlfriend for a family function. He's an asshole, so she has some fun making up outrageous stories about him in front of the family. That was entertaining and funny.
Nothing funnier than public humiliation...
Of course, she takes it too far by saying they are engaged. And, he just so happens to have an aunt that was like a mother to him who is dying. Her last wish is to see them get married. So, it's on.
The only acceptable reason to have a fake engagement in my book.
So, yada yada yada... they fall in love. We know what we are getting into with this book just from the blurb.
Now, it was unbelievable, the characters were dumber than dirt - especially the family that buys this act, BUT it was readable. Cute, amusing, cheesy, and entertaining. The perfect book for when you don't want to do any of that pesky thinking or feeling and just check out for a couple of hours with something easy.

3.5, Short, Sweet Read
Accidentally Married was a no fuss, happy, laugh out loud read. I wanted something light between my dark reads and this book did it's job.

I liked the plot, I liked it got me in a good mood and I liked the supporting characters, the whole family was on board with the couple getting married. The time from meeting to getting married was two weeks so the insta-love was kind of fast, but the pace was fast so that's expected. Oh and there's ZERO steam, so if you want a book with only laughs then this one is for you.

Meh.
I'm conflicted about this book. On one hand, the writing was difficult to get into, it read like one of those essays we had to do for our English classes during elementary and high school. You'd get a topic, something generic like My Favorite Day, and then you'd have to write a story. The writing style seemed sort of underdeveloped or immature, if that makes sense. But, I read it.
The characters were a big bag of stupid. Like take this Claire (or I think that's her name) for example. She's a friend/roommate of our heroine, but when an unknown women calls on their phone with a bullshit story how she was Jared's fiancée, Claire just straight up tells her about the fake engagement. People in real life won't do crazy shit like even answering the phone.
Or when Veronica, Jared's crazy ex whose sole purpose in this novel is to be a crazy ex, confronted Jared about the fake engagement and tried to blackmail him by threatening to tell his ailing aunt and his family about said fake engagement. And this is what made zero sense to me: instead of calling her bluff (like any normal person would do, he already had Madison on his side faking it, so they could've just doubled down on their insistence that they're for real and it would've been his word against Veronica's, problem solved), the dumb fuck does nothing. But I read the book anyways.
Then there is this stupid drama of how the main characters are conflicted about their emotions, or how incredibly sexist the hero behaves when the heroine is obviously ridden with guilt and regret for deceiving his family. He doesn't take her feelings seriously, instead writing them off as female craziness and her hormones acting up. That shit almost made me quit reading. But still, I read it.
This is the type of story where if the characters just had one decent conversation, instead of trying to read each others minds, half of the drama wouldn't even have happened. But, nevertheless, I read it.
And that's the reason for my rating. Despite all its misgivings, I still read the damn book. -
I just can't take these people seriously. They alternate between stupid and overwrought on a feedback loop that drops both attributes to depths unknown in nature. Jared is a CEO but he's an arrogant prick with the wit of a drunk monkey (I half expected him to respond at least once with "Oh yeah?!? Ses you!"). Madison is an actress who can't maintain a role for fifteen minutes at a time and the charm of a pigeon sucking helium.
Fortunately, I had the good sense to stop at about a quarter in. Unfortunately, that's still time of my life I'll never have back.
A note about Audible: It didn't help the book that the narrator for the audio was barely mediocre. Her reading voice was adequate and her delivery had a hint of emotion, but both on the high end of amateur without really approaching professional level quality. I could see her being known to her friends as an excellent out-loud reader but that wasn't near enough to make up for (let alone counter) the inherent weaknesses of poor characterization and nonsensical plot. -
Pretty funny and entertaining. I loved Madison's personality and how she kept doing unexpected things. There wasn't much chemistry in the beginning but as I got to know the characters better I began to feel more of a connection between them besides the physical attraction the author noted at the start. The family dynamics are great and I liked that everyone could tell Jared and Madison were such a good match. The clever twists prevented the resolution from being cliche and overly predictable.

If your rent is due and your wallet is empty, how far would you go to get a job? How can one teensy white lie (that's not even yours in the first place) boomerang into this kind of situation?
Madison never meant to trade her business suit for a bridal gown, and she really couldn't stand Mr. Jameson when she first met him. There are trying times along the way as Victorine Lieske takes us through a gauntlet of misunderstanding and mirth...and marriage. If you like a light romance with several situational curves in the path from cover to cover, you'll enjoy this light hearted story. It's an excape into fun. I was happy to be selected to receive a copy of the book as an advanced reader, in exchange for posting a review. -
Accidentally Married is very short and fast-paced compared to other contemporary romance books that I've read and loved. The reason why I liked Accidentally Married isn't because of its brilliant writing or its seamless execution of the plot. It's because even though the writing may be choppy sometimes and a bit terse to the point that it didn't feel like reading a contemporary romance at all, I laughed out loud. And nothing makes me fall in love harder than a book that can make me laugh my ass off.

Cute story
I liked this book. I thought it was cute. All the lies they came up with reminded me of that movie with Goldie Hawn and Steve Martin where they would come up with the most fantastic tales. -
I know that I have used this reference is reviewing a book before, but "a comedy of errors"" comes to mind. (Yes, I know it is referencing a title to a Shakespeare play.)
I noticed that many of my friends on goodreads have read and loved this book, so of course, I needed to follow suit. When a book gets that many great recommendations, I know that I want to read it too.
This book is one where just about anything and everything that can go wrong, does. The process that the "couple" goes through has many moments where I couldn't help but chuckle or laugh. They play off of each other so well. You know that it must be a perfect match when they can keep up with each other in the banter department.
This is the first book in a series, I think I have quite a bit of reading ahead of me. -

Madison needs a job. She promised her roommate she'd pay rent this week, but she's not having any luck finding anything. Her roommate overheard someone at the store say she was going to quit her job. After she did some sleuthing, she arranged for an interview for Madison at James Technologies. He wasn't hiring an admisitrative assistant but Madison has just the skills Jared needs.
Jared needs someone to pretend to be his girlfriend. His family is expecting him to bring someone to his father's birthday party. When Madison shows up, he thinks she looks ridiculous. But she'll do. On the way to his father's place, he explains to Madison what he needs and their back story.
On the way to meeting Jared's family he insults Madison. But he'll regret it because things get way out of control. Not only do they end up planning a wedding within two weeks, but his family finds out what he's up to. His father decides to make some arrangements of his own for the wedding. Because, Jared and Madison just need a little push.
This was a sweet book and I found myself laughing at the stories that came out of Madison's mouth when she was describing her and Jared's relationship. She could really come up with some good stuff on the fly! And boy did she let her imagination wander!
The characters in this book were great, but the whole plot of the book was revealed a little early so I knew what was going to happen. It was just a matter of when the main characters were going to find out and their reactions that I looked forward to reading. -
I thought this was a really cute and fun read. Madison and Jared have a funny "meet cute" when she goes to his business for what she believes is a job interview and he believes...something else.
I thought Madison and Jared had a fun relationship, I like that she was able to shake him out of his stiff personality. They are a good example of opposites attracting. They were a good balance. I enjoyed their fake relationship, mainly because it didn't feel fake. I thought the angst was just right, they fall for each other believably. I liked

Accidentally Married was a gem that I found on my iPad last night. I didn't remember buying it, but am so glad that at some point I did.
Madison goes to Jamison Industries looking for a secretarial position, but through a misunderstanding, ends up going with owner, James Jamison to his family dinner and pretending to be his girlfriend. To get her to go along with the plan, Jared implies that she'll get a job at his company, when she finds out that there aren't any positions available she decides to make their dinner with his family one to remember, and announces their engagement. This sets Madison and Jared on a fast course to a marriage neither of them planned.
I loved Madison and Jared. Jared was a bit unapproachable at first, but I loved how Madison joked with him, mellowed him out, and embarrassed him in turn. I laughed out loud several times at her antics. While the circumstances of their relationship were far fetched, the romance was sweet, and the supporting characters were also fun. The characters were people I would love to know in real life.

I hate to give a low rating, because the reading experience itself was adequate enough. The characters are cliche and the set-up forced. It took me a long time to warm up to Madison. But it was sort of nice to see a fake couple turn real.
The biggest problem with the book is the legality of it all. You CAN’T make someone legally marry just by ordaining the officiant. You would most definitely need a license, and you would need to acquire the license yourself. The fact that the couple got “accidentally married” due to the deliberate actions of other people just felt so very wrong and made the whole book icky. Veronica and Madison’s mom brought some intrigue for a while, but then the story decided to pivot into silly moping again after that. Overall quite disappointing. -
DNF at 56%: I am a firm believer in dropping a book when it becomes a chore to read. Reading Accidentally Married is like witnessing a train-wreck: It's devastating but impossible to look away from. I would compare this novel to a work on fanfiction someone reads solely because of the plot, not the content. Just no thanks.

This is another book that I read many years ago and I decided to give it another try. I couldn’t remember safety details so I was apprehensive. I have always liked the “falling in love during a fake relationship” trope so I jumped back in.
Jared was that classic workaholic CEO who needed a fake girlfriend to shut his family up. I wanted to shake him sometimes to be honest. So much wasted time because he wouldn’t admit his true feelings.
Madison was quirky and funny. She shows up at Jared’s office looking for a job and she get roped into this scheme. She was the outgoing to Jared’s reserved. I love that type of heroine. Some of the things she did/said had me laughing out loud.
Unfortunately, there was some things that brought this down for me.
- excessive pushing away. They skirt around their feeling almost the whole book.
-the skanky ex. I hate OW drama from ex’s. Especially when they touch and flirt, making the heroine jealous
- epilogue was only 4 months later.

This was just a cute, fluffy love story about two people who meet and are very unlikely to get together. Madison goes to an office for a job and ends up Jared Jamison who "contracts" her to act as his girlfriend. All she has to do is be nice and pretend at dinner, but (as love stories would have it) things take on a domino effect and next thing you know she's buying a wedding dress.

How will they get out of this lie?
Madison and Jared have to spend a lot of time together, since they have to plan their fake-wedding. It turns out that they feel more for each other than they care to admit. Both of them have no idea that Jared's family already know about their pretend-marriage and are trying to create opportunities for Madison and Jared to have some extra alone time. Madison and Jared keep challenging each other and without even realizing, they grow closer every day. Will Jared's family succeed in opening Madison and Jared's eyes before it's too late?
Madison is an actress, but hasn't been casted for any major movies yet. She's looking for a new job, so she can pick up going after her dream again. She's incredibly sweet and caring. Madison can be a spitfire when she's angry and I loved this about her. Jared lost his mother at a young age and his father didn't give him a perfect example of what happy marriages are about. Jared finds it hard to commit to a woman because of this. He feels drawn to Madison, but tries to push his feelings away. It's obvious from the beginning that they're perfect for each other. I loved their cute banter and I desperately hoped they'd be able to open up their hearts again.
Accidentally Married is a sweet and lighthearted love story about two people who have been brought together by fate. My own wedding wasn't that long ago and when I was reading about the preparations for Madison and Jared's big day it brought back a lot of loving memories. I was impressed by the setting, Jared's family home sounded like a beautiful place and I could easily imagine the wedding taking place there. I love to read stories about true love and I enjoyed Accidentally Married so much that I read it in one sitting. -

Just your typical romance, boy treats girl like dirt, girl thinks boy is great blah blah blah. Your typical Mills and Boonie type book, but without any sexy time at all. -

I have enjoyed all the books in this series. This book was so fun and the chemistry between Jared and Madison sizzled. I love when an author can make me sigh and laugh.

I love it when an author causes me to laugh out loud. That is precisely what Ms. Lieske did for me with “Accidentally Married” – frequently. From time to time I want to be entertained and escape from real life trials. This offering strains at being realistic in many ways, but it was fun to read. I noted that in the opening chapter Madison parks her car at Jared’s office building. But she leaves the building with Jared, who later delivers her back to her apartment. We never learn when or how she gets her car back. I couldn’t help but compare the similarity between Jared and Madison’s story of how they met to a similar scene in the film “The Proposal.” I liked how Ms. Lieske kept the narration clean, although this was not a Christian oriented novel. I happened to be in the mood for a fast, entertaining experience – and I got it with “Accidentally Married.”

This was a short and sweet read. It's silly and not very realistic at all. If you're a fan of fun and flighty romance stories, you might enjoy this.
What I liked:
1) The alternating povs. We heard from more than the MCs and that was nice.
2) How clean this book was. I don't think there was any foul language and there was only kissing, nothing more.
3) An H that isn't a manwhore. Yay!
4) The writing style was very readable.
What I didn't like:
1) The plot. It was just a little too silly, a little too fluffy, and totally ridiculous. Between the fake marriage, the meddling family, and the conniving ex, it was just too much.
2) There needed to be more character and plot development. I feel like the story could have been so much better and slightly more believable (palatable) if there were more details.
3) The humor fell flat for me, especially the scenes where the MCs are lying their butts off, improv lying, to to speak. It wasn't really that funny, but rather seemed like it was trying too hard.
4) The man conflict was resolved way too close to the end of the book and there didn't seem to much satisfaction found in it. It felt very rushed. The epilogue was sweet, but also felt too short. -
This was an entertaining book that told a cute story of a couple who accidentally do get married. Madison Nichols needs a job quickly, and she rushes to Jameson Technologies to inquire about a position she was given a lead on. Instead, Jared Jameson thinks she is there to fill the position of pretending in front of his family to be his girlfriend. Soon Madison is on the way to meet Jared's family, and when he insults her, she retaliates by telling the family that they are getting married. Everything escalates when Jared's dying aunt lets it be known that she wants to see that wedding. Next thing you know, a fake wedding is being planned. Jared's dad really likes Madison and has figured out most of what his going on, so he throws a big surprise into the fake wedding plans.
This was a really cute book, especially considering that it was a pretty short one. The characters were likable and the harebrained schemes in the story were funny. I liked the characters and had plenty of laughs from this one. Thanks to the publisher and NetGalley for providing an ARC in return for an honest review. -
Madison needs a job; Jared needs a date. When Madison realizes that Jared isn't going to deliver on his part of the bargain, she decides to get revenge on him. In front of his whole family.
Jared can see what she's doing and so he refuses to be baited and so Madison keeps pushing until she's pushed it a little too far... And now they are engaged, and every plan they make to get out of the engagement (short of coming clean) backfires on them. Their arguing should give them away, but instead it makes them appear like "an old married couple" and endears her even more to his family...
This was a fun, clean read!

I was sort of struggling with the plot because of the holes and manipulations but really lost it when he up and left her on their honeymoon. That he had a brief guilt moment in his anger didn't impress me at all. That's an immature teenager move/reaction.
I actually forced myself to read it to the end but had to go back to skim the book itself before I could write this - the story/characters/plot just didn't take hold like it should have and I didn't remember what it was about. -
This book was fine. Not great, but fine. The writing was good and flowed well. The characters were a bit dense, though not quite Too Stupid To Live. I might've enjoyed it more if I felt that there was a genuine connection between Madison and Jared that would propel them through the rest of their lives together.

There was not ONE pleasant person in this story. NOT ONE. Madison was vile and obnoxious. Jared was a both a bully and a wimp, and I hated both of them (but I hated Madison more - simply because she revelled in being as difficult as possible without having any consideration for other people.) -
Laugh out loud funny! True this is not a literary master piece, but it is the heart warming, can't help but chuckle, and will read again and again writing that makes people want more. It is my kind of read. Life is too serious... That's why I read! Enjoy!
