    Sheer brilliance.

Once again I am blown away by a book aimed at a young adult audience. I am a 53 year old teenager, who discovered young adult books quite by accident. Again and again I am astounded at the quality of the writing, plot formation and depth of character these books exhibit. Books by this author in particular have kept me riveted to the story, unable to put my kindle down as each chapter gets more and more exciting. I can hardly wait to read what is in store for Arianna Rose next. Wonderful books. Highly recommend every one of them.

    Great for the "older" young

It has a bit of everything, teenage angst, murder, heartache, magic, horror, and twists and turns.. A heroine with a gloriously shining hero.

So first of all lets talk about the pros:

I love how the authors had written the characters. All of the characters were written as incredibly flawed and morally grey. While others had those same issues, but were down right dangerous and would go so far as to commit murder to get their goals achieved. It really was a breathe of fresh air in a long line of reading books where the main characters are described as perfect.

Now, lets talk about the cons:

My first con with this book series is that its BORING and slow. With the first book especially, nothing even happens until the last two chapters of the book.

My second con with this book is that it was at times predictable. For example, my guess was proven correct when in the second book I knew that the relationship between Arianna and her first love interest would not last. I knew that she would have had feelings for her Protector and I knew that the goth girl Arianna had an immediate liking to was a witch.

Also, the writting style I felt was over the top and melodramtic at times which began to wear me down. The third book had typos aswell especial towards the ending chapters.

The third con is the rushed ending in book two. I wished that the authours had taken their time with it, instead of completely speeding through it. One of my complaints is that the person hunting our main character was a warlock, which was very very briefly touched upon on in the first book. While I did get a back story, it gave no further explanation of his abilities. I would have really liked to see what kind of powers he had as well as his personal enternal struggle of these abilities. Also, in the second book, there were some instances of telling but not showing. For example, I would love to read(first hand) about Arianna becoming aware of her powers like accidently injuring her and healing in mere seconds or drinking/smoking with friends and not getting drunk/high because of her healing factor, not being told of such.

Fourth con was that I have read a story of this type before. For example, a teenage girl discoverying one day that she has supernatural abilities (most of the time she does not know why) and now everyone is after her. And while I can appreciate the fact that the authors tried to put a spin on it, to me it was still lacking in originality.

The fifth con is the relationship between Arianna and her Protector. From what I gathered from the first three books so far the romance between them (especially on Arianna's part) felt insta lovey to me, and had me rolling my eyes especially in last chapters of the third book. The authors should have had Arrianna take time to get to know him well enough to see if there was infact a relationship to be had in the first place. I would have loved if the two of them had started out on a strictly professional basis, then as friends and then slowly progress to a romance. In essence, their relationship just felt forced, rushed and unnatural to me.

In conclusion, I can see how the authors tried to put some originality into this series, but I didn't like this book series as I had hoped. I don't know if I will be reading the last two books of the series.

    Arianna Rose

Well I quite liked the idea of this storyline, but somehow couldn't connect with the main character Arianna. The start is interesting with a good plot in place. I found the details and description very plain, not enough to feel. I found Arianna character has not enough personality, she comes over very rude but is actually very weak, her emotions are all over the place. There are so many unanswered questions, like after Luke was killed, what happened to his sister, or what happened to the bike Desmond promised. I found it was annoying that she was home and next moment she was in school, how did she get there, first time her mother gave her a lift but what happened the other times. Also there's not enough detailed information on the town, no other character involvement in it, the only one was the police Men. It's all confusing. So for my part I am not gonna get the next one. Sorry for only two stars.

    Loved it!

It hooked me immediately. With the cigarettes and the crappy trailer, everything was just so different from other fiction books I've read. It had a hint of reality, but still held that magical touch that I like. It was refreshing to read something with a unique plot. I really liked that everything wasn't peaches and roses. SPOILER ALERT: I was so upset when everyone started dying, but I was also grateful. In real life, not everything works out how you want it to and a well-written book will reflect that. I loved this and the authors did a fantastic job! I will definitely be checking out their other work.

    Darker than the average.

I preferred books 1 & 2 as I felt Arianna's character had rapidly watered down by book 3 and was somewhat unbelievable however given what she had experienced I suppose it isn't so far fetched. I enjoyed these books because I enjoy this genre. Worth a read. :)
