Ten Little Monkeys Jumping on the Bed Reviews
-
Again, extra bonus points for getting to sing this with my Grandmother's youngest sister and her Grandson. I love that the Doctor gets more and more animated with each new monkey that falls out of bed.
-
“Ten little monkey jumping on the bed, one fell off and bumped his head. Mother called the doctor and the doctor said, ‘No more monkeys jumping on the bed!’”
The well-known children's nursery rhyme uses repetition to help young readers learn sequence and numbers as they count the monkeys who fall off the bed. This oversized book, the Child’s Play version, has die-cut circles that encourage the child to interact with the brightly-colored illustrations as well as with the words.
Young readers are sure to enjoy singing the song and seeing how the mother and the doctor react as another monkey falls off the bed.
Recommended. -
Great book for counting, observations, and of course safety! Humorous for adults, as the mom pops up in the doctors off days to inform him that yet another monkey has jumped on the bed, and fallen. We have the large book version.
-
Fast, fun, and entertaining, kids can get their wiggles out (in a safe way of course).
-
This book is agony to read. So repetitive and boring. There is a reason Oriole shorten the song to 5 Little Monkeys...
Although it is nice thar some of the monkeys are girls. -
Can't really go wrong with monkeys jumping on beds.
-
The illustrator, Tina Freeman creates nice colorful images, making sure the expressions on the monkey's faces match what is expected of the text. I like that you can predict which monkey is going to fall off the bed by hiding the page on the opposite of the crease. Although this is not the original version of this story, where the mother jumps on the bed at the end. It shows the mother's exhaustion, which is a feeling that can be predicted by inferring from the illustrations.

Ten little monkeys are jumping on the bed, what happens when one fall off and bumps his head? Well the doctor of course says no more monkeys jumping on the bed! Doo they listen? Of course not!!!
The media used n this story is pen, ink, and watercolor.
This is a good story to read so that kids understand that when their parents ask them not to do something they are trying to protect them from getting hurt sometimes. -
so i know for a fact that this isn't the version i had read to me as a kid, but i do know that this was a story that i loved. i mean....monkeys in a bed???? what little kid isn't going to love this???
-
Basically this story teaches us that if you have 10 kids you have zero control over what they do. I think any overwhelmed care taker and relate to this story. It's a silly and fun read for a little kid who just likes the sounds and bright colors! Perfect classic monkey story!

This is a cute children's book that is fun to read to kids. I've had the pleasure of re-reading all of the great children's books (that I read to my kids years ago) to my stepson.
-
i like this book so i think they are still going to fall that part is funny i wish i cando tha but my mom will call the doctor so she (can say no more monkeys jumping on the bed)
-
Great book - lots of fun!
-
A counting book (I seem to have a different edition--and the illustrations are much more aesthetically pleasing in mine--old school) with very little substance but entertaining for younger children.
-
Great book to use with prediction and inferring strategies. This version doesn't stay true to the original version, so you could also use compare and contrast strategies between the two versions.
-
Fun to read to a baby, especially if you want to do the actions too, and a toddler will have even more fun looking for recurring characters in the pages.
-
My son's absolute favorite book in the world. He wants to read it every night.
-
I read this a lot when I was small and it was a great short book. It's a classic and it is wonderful.
