Exit Strategy is the first book in Lena Diaz’s EXIT Inc series, and is filled with lots of twists and turns, loads of action and adventure, and plenty of steamy romance!

My thoughts…
EXIT Inc. is a spinoff of the very popular The Deadly Games series. In this first book of the new series, we meet (or reunite with) the “undercover vigilantes” of EXIT Inc, many of whom were featured in the original series. That said, I had absolutely no problem reading Exit Strategy, even having not read the TDG.
I hadn’t read anything by Ms. Diaz before diving in to this story, so I wasn’t too sure what to expect, but with an intriguing plot and compelling characters I was hooked from the start, and I'm thrilled to have a new Romantic Suspense author to follow!
An ARC was provided by Avon Books via Edelweiss. To show my appreciation I’m giving them an honest review! -
You know the old adage that “absolute power corrupts absolutely.” Well, Exit Inc. was supposed to be the equalizer to that power. But what if someone in power decides to use that control for their own devices. It would result in chaos, a breaking down the very core of what makes Exit Inc.
Mason Hunt is an Exit Inc enforcer. When he discovers his mark is an innocent woman that just knows too much, Mason must reevaluate his role; putting a bulls eye on his own forehead. Now Mason with his mark Sabrina Hightower are on the run with assassins from his own organization on their tails.
Passions run high in this heated chase. Can Mason and Sabrina uncover the nefarious plot before more innocence is lost to the greed of men?
Exit Strategy runs at an electrify pace. The action, mystery and suspense burn just as hot as the passion between Sabrina and Mason.
Exit Strategy is a marvelous, pulse inducing read.

Caffeinated Dates with Exit Strategy
First Date: Diaz starts things off strong, and she keeps the adrenaline level high throughout. An elite group known as EXIT has targeted Sabrina Hightower for termination. This company does the work too hot for the Alphabet branches of the United States; they are an assassination team. Mason Hunt is an enforcer and former military sniper with strong moral codes and when he learns his target may be innocent things get intense. The tale is fast paced from the onset and I am holding on.
Second date: Sabrina Hightower is such a breath of fresh air in the romantic suspense genre. While she may think Mason is H-O-T hot, the girl is not looking to hide behind him. She dives in, grabs a weapon and is ready to clear her name and get justice. Poor Mason, this is all so new to him, and the questions raised about the organization he is so proud to work for are hard to deal with, not to mention how distracting Sabrina is. I liked Mason, he is smart and his personal backstory had me fully engaged. Forget the truffles on this date, bring your sneakers instead as there are intense heart stopping action scenes with some tender moments as Sabrina and Mason get to know each other.
Third Date: I cannot set Exit Strategy down. The action is non-stop and our couple find themselves in constant peril. I love how fleshed out the details are as Mason and Sabrina investigate. Secondary characters added interest and our villain is downright scary. I am very curious about another couple we met, and a certain local police officer has me curious as well. While this may be a series, Diaz wrapped this up nicely and it looks like each will work as a standalone with a common arc throughout.

Got Fiction?
first impressions
I like the idea of the hero being the guy hired to assassinate the heroine. But she doesn't look like she's been funding terrorist groups. Mason Hunt thinks he's taking out the bad guys, but what happens when he realizes those on his list may have been innocent?
REVIEW
This is the first time I've read a romance where the hero is hired to kill the heroine. He's not a hitman, rather he's more of an assassin for the good guys...or is he?
In this spin-off series of The Deadly Games series, Mason Hunt is ordered to execute Sabrina Hightower. But after one look into her eyes, and he just can't believe she's funding terrorism cells. So instead of killing her, he kidnaps her. As he's on the run with her, one of EXIT's other hitmen (I hesitate to use the word hitman, because they also rescue and help. They only take out bad guys) tries to take her out since Mason is obviously running off with her.
But the contact Mason meets isn't someone he's ever met before, so he doesn't trust him yet. He won't trust anyone until he sees proof that Sabrina is truly innocent and the orders to kill her were falsified. If that's true, it turns his whole world on its head. Could you imagine thinking you were a hero, taking out the worst of the worst in the world, only to find out that they could have been innocent?
That's exactly what happens to Mason. Now he's spending his energy on keeping her safe, and finding out what is going on at EXIT Inc. They were supposed to be the good guys, so what it the world is happening?
I liked this. I think the suspense was well-done, and I think the story was a new take on a hero. I know I've seen a lot of hitmen as heroes (I'm looking at you Kresley Cole!), but in that sense, they aren't pretending to be anything but what they are. Here, we have a good guy who maybe isn't as good as he thinks, and I ate this up!
While this is a spin-off series, Ive been told you don't need to have read the other series to read this one. I haven't and I didn't feel I missed anything.
So, if you're looking for a well-plotted, well-written Romantic Suspense, this is a new author to me, and has quickly become an auto-buy.

~ 3 Exit Strategy Stars ~
Exit Strategy is a decent start to Lean Diaz series EXIT Inc. I’ve not had the pleasure of reading
Lena Diaz before, so this was a new to me author. I am also not a big contemporary reader, so when it comes to contemporary books, I am a little more choosey on the ones I pick up to read.
It turns out that the EXIT Inc. series is a spinoff of her Deadly Games series. Exit Strategy reads well enough on it’s own and I did not realize when going into this book that it was a spinoff. As for the book there where things I liked and disliked about this novel.
Liked:
❇ I enjoyed the concept/idea of the EXIT Inc. company. It's a company that works in secret, eliminating the bad guys—terrorists, militia groups, all those who would do America harm. It’s a great idea, of course if the guys in power don’t abuse it.
❇ Sabrina our heroine was pretty tuff for everything that has happened in her life and then getting kidnapped. She has a distinctively honed sense of justice, isn’t afraid to defend herself or speak her mind, and is determined to find answers. It’s great reading about a heroine who can stand on her own.
❇ The action was great, once it hit the pages the author gave us no shortage. Our characters ended up getting no time to rest and what little downtime they had was short. I felt bad for Sabrina a few times when things got harry, but she survived it like a trouper and instead of sitting on the sidelines she wanted to fight alongside Mason.
Disliked:
❇ The start of the story was very slow going, but once you hit the 50% mark everything changes and the pace picks up considerably.
❇ I had a little trouble with the attraction/feelings at the begging of the book that our characters where having. It just felt out of place, weird, and reminded me a little of stock-home syndrome. But, once the story progressed the relationship became more realistic. I also enjoyed there sexy time that occurred. It happened in a very unusual place, at least for me, but it was fun to read. And, of course Sabrina brings it up at the end in a very fun conversation with Mason.
❇ The ending was a bit disappointing. It felt rushed after the big Council meeting and death. Plus how could The Council be so blind about their guy abusing the system? I felt that things didn’t get resolved enough at the end. I also wanted a little more closer; especially with so much of the action that was drawn out, I had hoped for a bigger finale.
All and all this was an acceptable read and I am curious to see where things go with the EXIT Inc. series. Exit Strategy gives us a little mystery, some non-stop action, twists and turns, and a delightful romance!

Calling all romantic thriller aficionados...Exit Strategy by Lena Diaz is a MUST READ!!!!! Ms. Diaz will spellbind and bewitch her readers in the sexy, titillating, explosive, seductive romantic suspense. In this compelling and action packed read, you will not want to put the book down.
Explosive!! That is one word that comes to my mind when I read Lena Diaz's Exit Strategy. Right off the opening pages, I was hooked and you could not pry this book off my hands.
When Sabrina Hightower awakens to the sound of an intruder, she tries her best to escape and put up a fight. She didn't expect to be hauled off by a sexy muscle bound man. Mason Hunt is an enforcer for EXIT Inc. His job is to simply to eliminate any threat, danger and harm that threatens the safety of America. In order words, his job is to kill the bad guys. So when he was assigned to get rid of Sabrina, he didn't expect to discover his latest target is an innocent and now he must do everything in his power to keep her safe?
Sabrina is one tough feisty and sassy heroine. She doesn't give up and puts up one hell of a fight which attracts Mason to her spit-fire personality. As they try to discover why Sabrina is the target, passion, lust, and attraction begins to ignite between these two. But getting to know each other might get difficult, when their safety is at jeopardy as Mason tries to figures out who is really the good guys. With Sabrina's safety at risk since EXIT Inc wants her eliminated, both she and Mason tries to figure one exit strategy in order to ensure they both survive as assassins tries to eliminate them in this non-stop action packed suspense. Questions begins to arise can EXIT Inc be trusted?
Ms. Diaz did an amazing job with Exit Strategy. With non-stop action, readers will be consumed as they try to discover who to trust. All I got to say, that I loved this book. It was such a sexy, riveting, exciting and suspenseful read full of twist and turns that it will keep any reader entertained. So if you are looking for a sexy, heart-pounding, action packed suspense that is well-written then I highly recommend you to read Exit Strategy. -
Exit Strategy pulls you right into the action from the very first sentence and doesn't let up until the very end.
Sabrina wakes up in the middle of the night to someone breaking into her house and while she does her best to escape, her intruder manages to haul her off into the woods anyway. And when he explains that he was sent to kill her? Well, that girl refused to go without a fight!
Mason has been hired by EXIT Inc. to kill Sabrina but a rogue member of EXIT Inc. has it on good authority that she's innocent so Mason agrees to keep her alive until he sees proof of her innocence. What he doesn't expect is the spit-fire that fights him at every turn or the instant attraction he feels towards her.
Of course EXIT Inc. isn't going to just let Sabrina live, innocent or not, so what happens when Mason decides to let her go? Non-stop action that's what! I mean, these two just can't seem to catch a break... They've got bad guys coming at them from all sides for one reason or another, not to mention they're dealing with injury after injury from fighting off the bad guys, throw in some PTSD from Mason's life before EXIT, and you have a recipe for suspense that is sure to keep you on the edge of your seat.
While I loved the action and suspense in this one, I found the romance severely lacking. They had a few hours to get to know each other while lying in wait but other than that they were on the go non-stop with no chance of quiet time to really get to know each other... Not that that's a deal breaker, especially when it comes to romantic suspense, but I guess I just wanted more before they started professing love and forever.
Exit Strategy is definitely a fast paced, action packed romantic suspense that'll have you on the edge of your seat... Definitely a must read for anyone that loves a whole lot of suspense with a side of romance.

Awesome read filled with action! Loved every minute of this amazing ride!
Sent to execute an EXIT order on Sabrina Hightower, Mason Hunt wants to be absolutely sure that she’s guilty of the crimes for which she’s been accused by his employer, EXIT Inc. When an ex-enforcer, Devlin Buchanan and his old friend, Ramsey Tate tell him innocents are being targeted for termination, this rubs Mason the wrong way since he became an enforcer to keep the bad guys from injuring innocent people in the first place. If he is unwillingly killing innocents then he’s no better than the bad guys.
Sabrina’s life hasn’t been normal for quite some time. Her brother was killed in a so-called mugging, her grandfather has mysteriously disappeared, and her cousin has her being investigated in regard to his disappearance. Having been labeled a convicted felon and ordered to leave Colorado, she’s now living in North Carolina and is determined to learn as much as she can about the tour company she’s suing for being responsible in her parents’ zip lining accident, killing both of them before her very eyes. The tour company—EXIT Inc. When someone breaks into her home, she does her best to protect her life and escape only to be captured, and dragged into the woods by a sexy yet deadly man who says he’s not going to hurt her unless she’s not as innocent as he’s been told. Innocent of what?
Soon, she and Mason become the hunted and more than a lawsuit is on the line now…their lives are too.
EXIT STRATEGY by Lena Diaz is an action-packed, page-turner, thrill ride of the greatest proportion. I loved every minute of this amazing thriller. This is one of my all-time favorite kind of reads and it did not disappoint.
We were first introduced to the covert organization posing as an international tour company called EXIT Inc. in Lena Diaz’s thriller, TAKE THE KEY AND LOCK HER UP, the last book in the Deadly Games series. I knew when Devlin Buchanan and Emily O’Malley teamed up and teased us with taking on EXIT Inc. that this series was going to be an amazing ride.
I love how Lena makes her characters strong, smart, and wickedly sexy while still vulnerable. In EXIT STRATEGY, we learn that Mason is a good man at heart despite what he does for a living. He’s honorable, trustworthy, and believes in good versus evil. He also carries memories of torture and hatred but doesn’t want that to spill out to touch anyone else, especially Sabrina. Whereas Mason is secretive about his pain and emotional baggage, Sabrina is open, honest, and strong-willed but even she has her fears, and she’s forced to face one of her greatest while trying to stay alive in EXIT STRATEGY.
If you enjoy a cast of characters who you will most likely see again, and again, throughout the series…characters, which are full-bodied, strong, and emotionally open, you will thrill at the Exit Inc. series. This first book in the series starts it off with non-stop action, edge of the seat expectation, and steamy cornfield sex that will have you wishing for your own Exit order.
I highly recommend EXIT STRATEGY, an Exit Inc. Thriller by Lena Diaz because it rocks, it explodes with superb action and thrills, and still gives you a big smile at the end…or rather the end of Mason and Sabrina’s story because stay tuned…the ride has just begun.

Wow!!! What a ride! Fast-paced, edge of your seat action adventure that will have you biting your nails!
Exit Strategy is a the first book in a new Romantic suspense series that is going to jump from the pages onto the screen if I had to forecast the future. Once you are in it's grip you can't put it down, I call it the "one more chapter syndrome". I was entertained from page 1 to the very end.
Sabrina our heroine is a heiress who seems to have gotten on the wrong side of Exit Inc. Mason is the Exit Inc. enforcer hired to kill her...and the story takes off from there, with gun fights, bad guys, worse guys, and the good guys coming to the rescue. What we want to know is why? Why has Exit falsely put out a hit on her. I'm not going to tell you anymore of the story...you so have to read it to appreciate it.
Lena Diaz is a new to me author and this won't be the last book of her's that I will read. The writing is excellent and the story well crafted. Although I found myself a bit at a loss in the first chapter or three, I soon found that my questions were answered I just had to hang in and let the story unfold at it's own pace. The characters have breadth and allows the reader into their heads so we can feel every fear and every emotion as they experience it.
Set in North Carolina it is the perfect location for this nail biter to unfold. The rugged terrain of the mountains and forests casts a darkness around the story and drags the reader even further into the intrigue.
May is Romantic Suspense month on t'irla's talk and I'm so happy to have received this ARC from Edelweiss in exchange for an honest review. This rapid moving story will be released June 30th 2015 but don't miss out you need to pre-order it immediately. Start your summer the right way and grab this intense yet steamy romance and your beach chair then hang on for the ride. -
EXIT STRATEGY opens with an explosive scene introducing readers to Sabrina Hightower, Lena Diaz’s female protagonist as she is trying to avoid an intruder in her house. Mason Hunt, Diaz’s male protagonist, is the intruder. His intent is not to do her any harm but to remove her from her house to keep her safe. Diaz provides their backstory adding to their history as needed. Sabrina is searching for her missing grandfather and the murderer of her brother. Mason is an enforcer for EXIT INC. a sanctioned agency to eliminate those who are considered dangerous to the United States. Diaz adds her support characters to the story providing their history and roles in the story as it progresses.
Diaz involves her readers in her mystery suspense romance storyline placing them alongside Sabrina as works side by side with Mason. Mason is seeking who is using EXIT INC for personal use. Each day Mason and Sabrina work together their interest in each other grows stronger. Mason finds his firm has sent enforcers to eliminate Sabrina and Mason. The author takes her readers on an adventure weaving intrigue and suspense and involves them in the investigation. Sabrina and Mason are trying to stay safe while investigating who is behind the orders to kill innocent people. Mason is working with to find a way to stop those evil individuals.
Readers find themselves unable to stop reading Diaz’s EXIT STRATEGY as they become part of the team working to stop the sinister plot using assassins to compel others to accomplish evil goals. Diaz never gives a hint as to what is going to happen next in the fast moving storyline. Diaz’s first book in her new series, EXIT STRATEGY, captures readers to the very end. The author’s development of the characters brings the story to life providing a good read. Lena Diaz book earns a 5 star ranking. -
Wowza! This is a non-stop, action packed, suspense that will leave you on the edge of your seat the entire time. Although this book is over 350 pages, the intensity of the story makes it flow, seeming so much shorter.
This story kicks off with a crazy abduction, turned rescue mission, leaving Sabrina scratching her head trying to figure out who she can trust. I love that she’s not a damsel in distress and knows how to take care of herself. It made me drawn to her character more than it would have if she were written as “helpless”.
Mason is an enforcer (assassin) who finds himself caught up in a situation all too new for him. He has never had doubts when his targets have been assigned, but Sabrina’s case has caused him to rethink everything.
In between trying to crack the case and figure out who’s who and where the story is going, Mason and Sabrina have some serious sparks flying. How they made the time is amazing considering there was danger around every corner, but it worked.
This read has lots of twists and turns, great romance scenes and even better action/suspense scenes. I’m happy that this is a series. I can’t wait to read about the other characters!!! Yes, I highly recommend this if you’re interested in suspense romance. Absolutely worth it!
*I was given a copy of this book as a gift from The JeepDiva in exchange for an honest review. -
Solid 4 star action and romantic suspencer from a new to me author who I definitely will keep reading. Lena Diaz keeps the action going without the exhaustion, and the required (in this genre) insta attraction/trust/love was believable. (Mason - Yum! And Sabrina was smart and feisty) I always go into romantic suspense with a mental "compression factor." That is, so much is happening, emotions and adrenaline are running so high, that a day can seem like weeks. Bottom line, the book worked for me. Looking forward to book two!
-
A solid first book in what I am sure will be a great romantic suspense series. I admit I was feeling a bit lost the first few chapters while everything unfolded and the scene was set, and I suspected this was just one of those books you just go along for the ride. The pacing was fast and the story was action packed, and I didn't want to put it down. I'm looking forward to reading the next book, which I am surprised is about the villain's daughter Melissa.

4.5 stars

Keşke devamı gelmiş olsaydı ..

I love a spunky, sassy female protagonist. I don't want the docile, weak willed damsel in distress, unless she learns to how to kick some ass along the way. So I was thrilled that this story opened with Sabrina doing her utmost to stay one step ahead of an intruder in her house. She doesn't hide under the bed and cry, but starts sneaking through the house, wishing she still had her shotgun to defend herself. Even when she gets captured, she doesn't stop fighting or using her head to find a way out of the situation. That's my kind of girl!
Mason, was an interesting guy. He reminded me a bit of John Cussack's character in Gross Pointe Blank. He's the guy who doesn't kill because he enjoys it, but because he is good at it, and someone has to do it. Mason has this semi-normal life, complete with family and friends. He's not some hard core assassin, just tough and determined to be part of the solution. And oh, that can be downright sexy.
One of the interesting things about this book, was that our villian wasn't this evil mustache twirling heinously bad dude. He was a good guy that made a mistake, and then got caught up in circumstances and made a bigger mess trying to fix the initial mistake. Funny how that can happen to any of us. I am really hoping that this allows for some redemption down the line.
There were some over the top scenes, but we are talking super secret covert black ops and spy style missions. Which means plenty of action, chase scenes and shoot outs for me to be sucked into and enjoy. I flew through this book and read it in one setting. The only thing stopping me from giving this book 5 stars, is that this didn't feel like book 1. There was another couple in the book and whenever they were mentioned I just felt like I was missing some backstory on them, like their story should have begun this journey. I don't know why, but their story nags at me - hence 4 stars.
Thank you to Tasty Book Tours and the author for the opportunity to read and review this book. -
Talk about an action packed start to a new series. You are literally not given any time to catch your breath between the pages of this one.
Even though this is the first book technically in the series I would recommend at least reading Take the Key and Lock Her Up (The Deadly Games Series #4) first. That is where it all starts and why there are so many vendettas in this book.
EXIT Inc was started for all the right reasons. It’s a group of men who with the governments permission are allowed to remove any threat be it foreign or domestic, a way to go after terrorists or bad individual without any restrictions. Problem is when you give the CEO of that company that much power things can go wrong and that they do.
Mason Hunt is an enforcer with EXIT and has been given a kill order against Sabrina Hightower. Mason doesn’t normally question any of the kill orders he received but one of the agents that used to work for EXIT has contacted him and told him that the order against Sabrina has be falsified. Mason struggles a bit to believe that the man that recruited him after his hell in Army would be part of something so sinister. Its not long though before he sees that Sabrina is innocent and they both end up with kill orders against them. From here on these two are on the run while also trying to figure out how to bring down the CEO of EXIT.
Like I said before – the reasoning behind Sabrina’s kill order and why the other agent left EXIT happen in a previous book. The author does explain everything so you’re not lost but as I was a fan of the previous series it was nice to see old characters back and to also get some closure to the open ended treads. But there were just as many left open for future books.
I can tell that each book in this series is going to be one crazy ride and I look forward to the next book especially after the teaser we got at the end of this one. -
I really enjoyed this book. I was not too fond of the beginning but it got a lot better as the story progressed and the relationship between Sabrina and Mason became more and more realistic. There were some parts in the book that I thought were boring for example when they discuss more organisatory things about EXIT but the action kept getting better so that is something I can forgive.
Edit: {3.5 stars}
I changed my mind about it. For some reason I feel like it only deserves 3.5 stars. I cannot say why but I just didn't want to leave it at 4. -
This is a great start to a new series. My only issue is that if you don't read her series before this one, especially the last book you might feel a little lost. Besides all that I did enjoy it. I found it to be very fast paced, with good characters and the humor we like in her suspense books.
-
Sabrina Hightower awakes to an assumed burglary but instead abducted and drugged. The man who takes her, Mason Hunt, is an enforcer for Exit, Inc. an undercover vigilante organization. He was supposed to kill her but was contacted by another enforcer, Devlin Buchanan, who left the organization, and claims she is innocent. While he verifies the truth of this and questions all his past work for the group another enforcer, Ace, is sent to eliminate both Mason and Sabrina. Someone in the organization has been issuing fake orders to cover up an earlier fake order and things have snowballed. Mason had joined Exit to take out the bad guys who had been proven to be unreachable under ordinary laws. Now he had to figure out who had gone bad and stop the death of innocents. This was a high tension thriller with a slew of dead bodies by the end. Really looking forward to the next in this series.
-
I absolutely adore Sabrina, this is an incredibly versatile, down to earth, and spunky woman that I’d go to great lengths just to high five her if she were real. She stole every scene and moment in that story, yes Mason is all the things this kind of H should be, and I loved him with his Rina, but it’s Sabrina that made this story a 5 star read for me. I can’t wait to read more from this author.
Funniest moments in the story...
Mason grabbed her and shoved her down onto the seat with her head in his lap. “Are you trying to get yourself killed?”
“Did you forget that I bite?” she snapped.
His eyes widened and he wisely let her go.
I chuckled and snorted through many great scenes in this book and ground my teeth in fear in others... superbly written. -
3.65 stars. Lots of action, and the main characters had great chemistry.
Two things kept me from loving this book. One, I felt it pulled heavily from one of the author's previous series. That's a treat for readers who have read that series but irritating for someone using this series as a jumping-on point. I didn't like feeling like I was playing catch up. Second, the pacing was bonkers. The whole story takes place over 5 days. Sabrina was so quick to trust Mason, and so quick to fall into bed with him (or the cornfield...whatever). I get that the idea of "intense experiences producing intense feelings" is a mainstay of the subgenre, but the story didn't have much in the way of emotional weight because they barely knew each other. -
Great read! I love a story that holds my attention so well that I am compelled to finish it in one sitting. The plot begins with a kidnapping and the action increases as the story moves along.
Sabrina Hightower is involuntarily enmeshed in Mason Hunt's assassination business. He is the enforcer sent after her, but then he realizes she is innocent and in need of protection . Sabrina is a strong female lead and the secondary characters are fleshed out and interesting.
If romantic suspense interests you , do not miss this book! It is the first in the Exit Strategy series. -
Beginning had zero character development making it impossible to get into or care about characters or even know which ones were important. Forced myself to get to at least page 100, but decided to tap out at that point.
