Strong language and sexual situations
This is a standalone
If I could describe my world in a color, it would be black.
My heart is black. My mind is black. Everything is black.
I let darkness take over when I was sixteen. That’s when my world fell apart. That’s when I learned Tucker Stavros took my life away from me. I’ve spent years allowing the darkness to comfort me; letting it take my emotions and box them up. Why do I need emotions anyway? They only make me weak. I need to be strong for what needs to be done.
What needs to be done, you ask?
That’s simple. Destroy Tucker. Bring him to his knees. Show him how it feels to lose everything.
Well, that was the plan, until Cammie Richards walked into my life. Now there are gray areas — slight color bleeding through the black. What happens when she looks beneath my darkness and sees the monster lurking there? Will she run away or try to save me?
How do I tell her I can’t be saved?
Beneath His Darkness (Healing Hearts, #3) Reviews

This is the third book in this trilogy. I absolutely loved the first two books but seriously has this author saved the best til last?? I think she may have done as I devoured this book. Amazing read.
This is Grants story. I wasn't too keen on him in the first two books. However once I got into his head I was really hoping he'd get his happy ever after. Has he? Well of course your gonna have to 1-click to find out.
Slightly darker this book had me gripped from start to finish. The twists and turns had my heart thumping. This is one of them books where I literally could not read it fast enough yet I was sad when Id finished it. Loved loved loved it. -
I was able to get an ARC of this one. This is actually the first book by Renee Dyer I have read. And HOLYWOW! Did it leave me wondering what I've been missing out on! I absolutely have to read Renee's other books now! While reading this book, I cried, I smiled, I cringed. I laughed, I wanted to hit stuff, and my heart jumped for joy. This lady sure knows how to throw a ton of emotions at you. And she does so intensely! This is one book that will leave you unable to wait until the end to see how it turns out, yet sad because it's over. Those of you who are avid readers know what I'm talking about... you've had at least one book do that to you. Definite recommendation! Pick this one up as soon as it releases. Or better yet, preorder as soon as that option is available!! Happy reading, all! :)

I just hate it when a book doesn't measure up to my expectations, it's a complete blowup.
I have to admit the writing is amazing, in a different situation I would've completely loved this book, however the story didn't appeal to me. First couple of chapters were great but I hated the anger driven by hate, totally not healthy.
You just can't plan to destroy someone because life treated you miserably, let alone your sibling. That's just wrong.
I know there gon' be redemption, salvation and blah blah blah at the end of the book but really this book isn't for me to read. -
I have read all books by this author and I have to say the other two books are alot different to this book, but don't let that deter you away from this book. It's darker than the other 2 books but WOW seriously It was deep.
Grants book ..... you finally get to read his story and what a story it is.
I wasn't a massive fan of Grant in Waking Up and Eyes Wide Open , I couldn't understand why he was such a prick, I mean yes he's been dealt a crappy hand but we don't know the full story.
This is his turn to let you hear his version, and by god if your heart doesn't break for him. I found myself crying and points.
The chemistry between Grant and Cammie was beautiful.... she's such an innocent creature, surely shes too good for Grant.
He doesn't think he deserves love ..... he will taint her with all his darkness, it already controls him he can't let it consume her, shes too good for that.
But is it too late? Has Cammie already crept beneathe his skin ? Can he stop her getting hurt? Will she betneone to set grant on a new patn and lead him away from the darkness? I guess you'll have to read this amazing book to find out. -
I loved this story, it shows us what blind hatred can turn a person into.
Grant has certainly been dealt a bad hand at a tender age of 16. He blindly blames the wrong person for his bad hand and sets out to ruin his brother for it.
He sets his vengeance in motion, heedless of who he hurts in the process. Little does he suspect that he is the target of an even sicker man.
In walks Cammie and wants to convince Grant that it is possible to love and that there is good in him no matter how much he doesn't believe it and no matter how much pain he has caused. But Cammie will not be stopped, she is on a mission to save the man she loves.
I really liked this story although I thought it dragged on a bit, it could have been shorter with the same message.
Lots of pain, deceit and love. Wonderful story, I highly recommend it!
I was gifted this book for an honest review. -
I don't even know where to begin with this book. I was intrigued by Grant in Eyes Wide Open and felt that there was a deep story there, and I wasn't disappointed. I will say, Beneath His Darkness is darker than the first two books in The Healing Hearts series, and it is truly heartbreaking to read at times. There are scenes that will haunt you, and stay with you long after you're through reading. The emotion that is poured into this book is beyond amazing. You feel as though you are there with these characters, and living some of these nightmares with them.
Grant had the perfect life - 2 loving parents, friends, and a starting pitcher position on his high school baseball team - but it all came crashing down when he was sixteen. When his father needed him the most, a lie was revealed, destroying every relationship he had ever known. This left him angry and bitter, and looking for vengeance on those he left had robbed his life from him. He set out on a dark path to bring down the one person he felt had wronged him the most - his half-brother Tucker.
Grant does all that he can to learn about Tucker, and eventually ends up cast on the same show that Tucker stars in. With a plan forming, he sets out to destroy Tucker's life. Grant knows that he is filled with darkness, and he prefers to live that way, and actually seems to enjoy it. He is seemingly content to live this way, until Cammie enters his life. She is an unexpected ray of light that cuts through his darkness, and makes Grant begin to think that he could actually have something good in his life. For the first time in a long time, Grant has someone who truly cares for him, and that cares about as well, and an amazing friendship forms.
Cammie tries to see the good in everyone, and is Grant's biggest advocate with others on the set of their show. She often puts herself in the middle of Grant and Tucker, trying to make each of them see that the other is a good guy. When the truth of them being brothers come out, Cammie's words to Grant about Tucker come back to him, and he begins to wonder if maybe he has been wrong about Tucker, especially when he learns that Tucker didn't have the perfect life that Grant envisioned.
With relationships forming in his life that he never expected, Grant realizes that he needs to put an end to his plan, and come clean to Tucker about what he's done. Tucker surprises Grant by being there for him, and dealing with things head-on with him instead of pushing him away. This only makes Grant feel even more guilty about everything that he's done, and all the people that have been hurt as a result. And just when he thought things couldn't get any worse, everything comes crashing down once again, putting the one person that he cares about most in danger.
One of my favorite things about this book was watching Grant's transformation. It was truly heartbreaking to see what he went through as a teenager, losing the people that he cared about the most. Even through the darkness, you could see that deep down, he wasn't a bad person, and he wanted to help others in his own twisted way. And to see him almost revert back to a scared teenager when Tucker takes him to confront his past was heartbreaking all over again. He quickly went from hating Tucker to relying on him, and it was sweet to watch. With Cammie, he went from being afraid to let anyone in, to almost being afraid to ever be alone again. She helped him to see that there was good in him, and that he was worthy of love. The best part was when he finally began to believe it for himself.
Beneath His Darkness is by far one of my top reads so far this year. I can't recommend it highly enough. 5 well-deserved stars. -

~~~~~~~~~~Dee's ★★★★★ Review~~~~~~~~~~
This book is so dark, twisted with hate, revenge, fear, self loathing and crushing pain. How can one human being feel such devastating anguish and not go out of his mind? At age sixteen, Grant suffered loss, rejection and abandonment and planted these poisoned seeds, nurturing their growth until a great, dense darkness overtook his life on every level. He became trapped in humiliation, a prisoner of abuse and captivity.
It was difficult to read of the filth that threatened to bury him. We all must reap the consequences of our decisions and when he turned his back on forgiveness and unconditional love and chose the path of revenge, he found himself in a hellish nightmare that never ends. It roared like a tornado through Grant's life leveling all structures and destroying everything in its path. The aftermath of this black storm is one of peace and a landscape strewn with debris but the sky is clear and the sun shines. Grant sees the sunshine too.
The emotions were experienced by this reader and this heavy story made for a fascinating read. It was interesting to see how Grant fell into his bottomless pit and when love came into his life he began to climb out of the darkness. Spellbinding describes this book. Excellent writing on every level. I was given this book by the author in exchange for an honest review. This book....this whole series deserves more than Five Stars.
~~~~~~~~~~Sharlene's ★★★★✯ Review~~~~~~~~~~
Beneath His Darkness is an apt title for this third installment of the Healing Hearts series. Not you typical erotica romance, Grant brings all of his darkness, hurt and anger to this story. Unfortunately, he also brings it to Cammie, his sweet co-worker actress. This story is definitely not for the faint of heart. Grant and Cammie fight together and apart to find their relationship along with relationships with others. They are all intertwined brilliantly by the author.
Once again the author tells this story through multiple POV which I feels adds to the story-line. Most of the characters from the first two installments continue in this one along with additional characters. This can be read as a standalone but is much more clear and fulfilling if read after the first two installments. There is no cliffhanger but there is an HEA. -
Beneath His Darkness is book 3 in the Healing Hearts series but can be read as a stand-alone.
We met Grant in book 2, Eyes Wide Open, but this is Grant’s story. Waking Up and Eyes Wide Open, while they had their sad, dark moments, were overall happy, uplifting books. Tucker and Adri are “white” whereas Grant is “black”.
We know from Eyes Wide Open that Grant is Tucker’s half-brother and we know why he has it out for Tucker. I was very intrigued with Grant in Eyes Wide Open and was so excited that his story was next!
By all outward appearances Grant was riding high. He had 2 parents that loved him and he was their world, he was the star pitcher for his high school baseball team and all around popular guy. We watch as Grant’s world crashes down on him when he is just 16. We learn of his mother’s deceit ultimately causing Grant to feel as though his is personally responsible for this father’s death.
After learning the full amount of his mother’s deceit, Grant makes it his new life goal to destroy Tucker Stavros, others be damned. He learns everything he possibly can about Tucker and what makes him tick. We watch as Grant is pulled into the darkness of his own thoughts and feelings. Hatred towards his mother, his half-brother, and everyone else in general all seem normal and welcomed by Grant, that is until he meets Cammie.
Cammie Richards is the new girl on set. She is light, innocent, sweet, and naïve. Someone Grant can destroy without looking back. What happens when she breaks into his heart? Can Cammie break down some of the walls around Grant’s heart and bring him into the light?
We also to see Grams again in this book and her infinite wisdom has not lessened one bit! Other characters are touched on as well but are not the main point of this book.
I loved watching Grant’s transformation throughout the book. I loved seeing him grow as he confronted things and realized that perhaps everything was not how is 16 year old mind perceived it to be. I can see where Grant was a much harder book for Renee to write but I am oh soo very glad she did! Beneath His Darkness is a darker book but is definitely worth the read!
5 stars!! Bravo Renee! -
It isn’t every day that your life is turned upside down at the age of 16. For Grant, his world came crumbling down in the blink of an eye. Just when he thought he was going to be able to save the man he called Dad for the last 16 years, a secret is revealed and throws Grant into the darkness that consumes him for the next six years of his life. This darkness lead him down a path of destruction. One that wouldn’t stop until Tucker Stavros was taken down.
I am not one who reads a synopsis when reviewing a book because I like to go in with a clear head. When I first starting reading this book I thought it was going to be about a young boy on a journey for finding out the truth about himself. Where that wasn’t the case in the beginning, I feel that Grant rediscoveries himself in the process of trying to take down Tucker. I have to admit, I wasn’t a fan of Grant’s character in the beginning. I understood his reaction to his mother’s secret, but I didn’t see why that was Tuckers fault. Thankfully, after all his manipulations to others, Cammie walks into his life and there seems to be hope for Grant yet. But does Grant want the chance to turn his life around or is he doomed to forever be in the darkness?
I truly enjoyed this book, I felt that the characters were real and believable. I was pulling for Grant to turn his life around, even though I didn’t agree with his actions from time to time. I enjoyed seeing the progression of Grant’s character as her grew up and when Cammie entered his life. She sees the good in everyone and was determined to find the good in Grant, much to everyone’s dismay. This book was fast paced and kept me guessing the entire time, I would recommend it to anyone who wants to read something a little different. -
3.5 stars
I have enjoyed the first two books in the series and I was intrigued that Grant was getting his own book. We met Grant in the first two stories, Waking Up and Eyes Wide Open. I was not a fan of him in those two books. What he did-ugh I couldn’t get over. But in Beneath His Darkness, Grant really surprised me. I have come to like him. Renee takes you inside Grant’s mind and oh my goodness, it is great. I was able to get the insight of why he hated Tucker so much and why he did what he did. He was truly broken and I was beginning to understand where the darkness came from and his actions. I didn’t condone them but still I felt for him. Anyway, he was a man in the dark until a light was shine upon him in the form of Cammie. She was so kind. She knew there was more to him and she was determined to discover the man within. I loved the relationship between these two. I loved getting this side of Grant. He was so fun and sweet. It was wonderful. However, the road to the light is difficult. His need for revenge takes Grant down a road that I was not expecting. I couldn’t believe the lengths he would go to for vengeance. Renee had me so enthralled in this story. I needed to know where it all was going to go. The twists and turns and the emotions-so good. I wanted Grant to find his happy and come into the light. Does he reach it? Will everything work out with Cammie? Will he found out that revenge isn’t all it’s cracked up to be? You have to read to find out. But if you’re a fan of this series, then this is one you should not miss. It’s so good! -
You know those books where you hate the hero...you just can't stand him...you can't stomach him...but you start to feel sorry for him...and you hate him...and feel sorry for him...and hate him...and feel sorry for him...and then start to like him...and still hate him...and then you like him more...and then you love him...and then you're a snotty mess while reading because you can't believe the stuff that's happening to him and you want to hug him and hold him and scare his monsters away? That is exactly what Beneath His Darkness turned out to be…it turned me into a blubbering mess...
Grant finally has a chance to tell his story. After the first two books in the series, he was a hated character, but I wanted to give him a chance.
This book had me feeling so many emotions and at one time, I had no idea what I was feeling. His story is heartbreaking, as only that of a young man who has endured so much and lived with so much hate, can be.
You get to see what has been eating at him since his “father” died. You get to see why he has such a deep rooted hatred for Tucker and the lengths he is willing to go to “make him pay”. You get to see how one woman starts to change his views and how his iceberg of a heart begins to melt.
Your heart will be squeezed and your lungs deprived of air, but at the end, you will be so glad you got to meet Grant. -
No clue where my original review of this book went ??
So Renee did the unexpected for many - she made us like/love Grant !! From what we knew of him he was a snake and up to no good at all times. BUT we didn't know of his horrible past and the things he suffered through. Now we know and what is worse is that we have to go through that with him as he tells his story and because of where his story takes us. There are pieces of this story that run through some of what we already read in WU and EWO , rest assured this story is in Grant's POV so this means it is not exactly how we got it before. I am a sucker for male POV so regardless of how twisted and dark Grant may have gotten I devoured his mind !! Cammie was on the much softer side of things. Almost the wrong place/wrong time for her to come onto the show and be stuck between Grant and Tucker. She just has that way about her and she is the one thing that can thaw that dark/cold heart of Grant's. Question is - will that last or is it only a matter of time before the Grant we first met comes back ?? There is plenty of drama and heartache , serious heat and a great flow that also ties in some of books 1&2. This can be read as a standalone but I recommend reading the whole series so you can meet everyone and feel that connection !! -
So, if you haven't read this series you, could say that you get the gist of the previous books reading Grants story. Would I recommend you not read the first 2 in the series?... Hell no! You have to read Tucker's story to understand him then you will have a complete understanding of Grant and the depth of the things he has done. Now that I have said my piece let's talk about Grant. Broken, Dark, Lonely, Handsome and incredibly sexy Grant. You love him you hate him. You will cry for him then you will get pissed at him as you fall for his broken soul. Oh and yes you will want to fix him. You won't be able to help but want to fix him he is so sad and lonely that you come to understand his misgivings. Who do you become? You will be Cammie, his buttercup. The woman that sees past all of his darkness the woman that wants to fix him.
This story has so many layers to it that you will be trapped within the pages until the very end. Breathing the hate, breathing the love, breathing the acceptance and passion. You will be amazed at how caught up in Grant you will become and in the end you will want more. I know I did! I can honestly tell you that Yes Cammie is the one person meant for Grant the one that shows him that he s more than a broken soul. The that brings sunlight to his life. -
This is book 3 in the Healing Hearts series and can be read as a standalone.
I gave this book 5 stars.
This is Grant's story.
Grant WAS in the first two books, but as stated can be read as a standalone.
Grant is living for revenge. It is sad to say but that is what is getting him through his life. That is until he meets the beautiful girl that is going to change it all for him. Renee has done it again.. She saved the best for last and this one kept me on the edge of my seat!! I was sad to see it end, but oh what a story this is!!
ONE CLICK THIS BOOK! I am a fan of Renee's work from the beginning and gobble up everything that I can that she writes and this isn't something that you're going to want to miss! -
Beneath His Darkness, an interesting and amazing read from Renee Dyer.
From the start up to the last, I was intrigued on what will happen next to the characters and the story.
The characters, Canmmie and Grant are amazing.
Cammie, a wonderful woman who sees the good in every person, and her personality makes her shine.
Grant, a loving son but an unexpected revelation made him a manipulator and full of hate.
When these two people collide, things got more interesting and it made me curious on what will happen to them.
The story, with all the drama in Grant's life, he became a bitter and manipulative man.
He will do anything to destroy Tucker.
He manipulates the people around him but there's one girl that sees through him.
When things get more intense, things will be revealed and unexpected things will happen that will change their lives forever.
Ms. Renee did an amazing job in making this book interesting! And I was guessing on who really is the bad guy and what will happen next to the characters!
Nice read! -
4 stars
Grant's life was blown apart at sixteen. His world as he knew it was no more. His Dad's rejection was all it took to push Grant into a world of hate, revenge and darkness. Grant set out to destroy his brother's life, just as his had been destroyed. Revenge was his life, he planned it that way as not to get hurt again, but some of the people turned this around to get what they wanted to help him. He did what needed to, to get what he wanted the most, or so he thought that's all he wanted until he met Cammie. Cammie was his weakness, even to himself, but she was also his light.
With events set into motion, he couldn't stop, he made his decision to come clean to his brother. Worlds shattered into pieces, him being the cause, Grant could not forgive himself even though the ones he hurt did forgive him.
Cammie ran, as she should have as Grant thought. But Cammie's guilt brought her back, but did she bring him the light when she came back? -

I was lucky enough to read the first 2 books in this series. Waking Up & Eyes Wide open.
Beneath his Darkness is a great story of the other side we wanted to know about. How Tucker Stavros came about to meeting Grant Andrews. What drove him from the life he had & the show he was on. But it was so much more than just this.
Grant Andrews- How he develops a supreme hatred for Tucker & the path this leads everyone involved.
I was on pins & needles with each page turned. I love how I was completely surprised in the many twists & turns in this story. Very intense, heartbreaking & twisted story of revenge, love & wanting acceptance. Didn't see that Davyd character coming either, brilliant!!!!
Do yourselves a favor and go gets this series!!!!!! -
Wow, what can I say Renee Dyer, you have done it again. I absolutely loved Grant's story. You made me hate him in the first two books and love him in this one. This story puts us inside Grant's head we see where the darkness comes from. I loved Cammie and how she could see the good in him when no one else could. I was on the edge of my seat, I never saw that coming. (Not saying what, no spoilers from me). This is a must read, you will not be disappointed. I was lucky to win an ARC and be able to give a fair and honest review.
-
Grant Andrews is a messed up person every since he was 16. People he thought loved him betrayed him. This story deals with a lot of mixed emotions & ordeals. But things happen to make Grant realize he is capable of loving
-
Going into Beneath His Darkness by Renee Dyer, I knew that it would be a much darker read than the previous books in the Healing Hearts series. However, I couldn’t have ever dreamt what the journey, or the destination, would be like. It is filled with ups and downs meant to tear you apart and then fill you back up with hope. It’s a man’s journey to finding himself and realizing that things aren’t always what they may seem. Beneath His Darkness may not be your average love story, but it is certainly one you don’t want to miss!
“There’s no room in my life for pain. No room for pity.”
Even though we went into the book knowing that Grant was the bad guy (as I had read the others in the series), I never could have imagined the lengths with which he went to seek his revenge. Getting into his head was terrifying at times, but also completely necessary. He could be so mean and ruthless and just plain arrogant. However, we also saw these vulnerabilities seep in, especially when it came to Cammie. She was the radiance to the darkness in this story; a little firecracker. I just wanted to squeeze her for the way that she would trust her gut and her heart over the words that anyone else spoke about Grant. The way that their relationship dynamic was written is such gold. She became that sliver of light for Grant who eventually seeped through every crack to allow him nowhere to hide. The way that he appreciated their friendship and grew from those feelings just flowed so effortlessly in the writing.
“No room to care who gets hurt in the crossfire.”
Any reader of the Healing Hearts series could see that Grant had a story screaming to get out and it was important that he got his chance to tell it. The result ended up being Renee Dyer’s best work to date. It was so much fun to watch the journey to redemption of someone we had previously hated. His character took us on an emotional roller coaster from beginning to end. The reader goes through periods of happiness, of shock, and of complete sadness for the shell of a man that he was at points in his life. Even through all the negative things that he had put others through, you can’t help but adore the man who only wants to be loved – even if he doesn’t realize it.
“I didn’t ask for this fight.”
I love to see a good villain novel, and Beneath His Darkness was just that. It’s the story of one man’s truth, both the good and the bad. It was Grant learning how to love and discovering just what that word meant. I also love when you can see author growth from each sequential book and Renee Dyer has, without a doubt, shown that. Even though I had to slightly push my comfort zone at times with Beneath His Darkness, I reveled in every moment. I’m definitely looking forward to what else Renee Dyer can do! -
This review is a little difficult to write, I can only image the difficulty it was to write this book. In the first 2 books in the Healing Hearts Series, I really hated Grant. In this book we get a background on Grant that explains why he has been doing the things he is. I still wanted to reach into my tablet and punch him in the nose and just shake some since into him. Grant is going to do things beyond any thing he ever imagined to ruin the lives of all of those who he thinks stole his. Along comes Cammie, she is the only one who sees any good in him. The lengths Grant goes to, to protect her, took my breath away. I too am a survivor of sexual abuse. It was hard to read those scenes, but I toughed it out. This book is not a hearts and flowers love story, it is a real life scenario of what people go through with raw emotions, hurt, gut wrenching pain beyond what you would think any one human can bare. It does not end with a big wedding or happy ever after, it ends with many people trying to Heal and Find Love lost. You have to forgive and let go. You have to love and respect yourself no matter what life throws at you. Only then can you move forward and find that Happy Ever After. Renee Dyer reminded me of this in this Dramatic, Twisted, Heart Wrenching story of a Lost Boy trying to find his way. Be prepared to be drawn into this book, you will not want to put it down. I highly recommend.

This is the third book in a series by Renee Dyer. This book centres around Grant who we are introduced to in books 1 and 2. Although only slightly mentioned in those books it was enough to turn me off Grant and I disliked him immensely. My dislike of him even stopped me from starting this book straight away as I was convinced that I couldn't like Grant but I have to admit I was wrong.
Through this book we learn of Grant's inner demons and why he behaves the way he did. The shining light that makes Grant question some of his behaviour and makes him feel emotions that he had long ago turned off is Cammie. Although young and having had some what of a sheltered upbringing Cammie is not totally naive about Grant and even though everyone warns her against him Cammie believes that deep down he is a good guy.
The relationship between Grant and Cammie begins as just being friends but soon they both develop feelings that are more than just friendly. By the time Cammie comes into Grant's life he is already embroiled in a plot to take down a few people around him and he has gone to great lengths to put things into place but after some revelations and how this would effect Cammie Grant begins to question what he should do.
This was a great read that I am only sorry that I took so long to star. I was shocked by certain parts of the book and felt like I had been put through the wringer emotionally but it was more than worth it. I couldn't recommend this book enough. -

"Life is about choices. You have to make them. Decide who you want to be, but remember you can't take them back. Some can be forgiven and some can't. Never blame others for yourself-- it just makes you look like an asshole. " ---- Grant
Grant found out at the age of sixteen, he was not his father's son but someone else that his mother tricked into giving her a child. Grant blamed Tucker, his brother, for having his real father not wanting him. Grant makes it his life mission to ruin Tucker until Cammie walks into his life. Cammie sees beyond the darkness and changes Grant.
Renee Dyer is an author I am going to read more. Her story has a lot of thought and emotion.

Grants story
After reading the first two books we were looking forward to reading this one but we were not sure if we actually liked it as much as the first two.
It was a very dark read and some parts were a bit hard to read especially what he went through but we guess it shows you how dark it was to want revenge to the point he wanted…
Grant came from a home that was perfect till he was 16 years old, then when he found out he wasn't a match with his father because they didn't share the same DNA, His father passed away hating him knowing that Grant wasn't his biological child and Grant couldn't save him. He seeked his mother for answers and revenge.
We loved the way Cammie saw through Grant and could see that he was broken and hurt and she still fell in love with him she was there to see beyond what he did to see the real him.
There were lots of twists and turns throughout the book which was great. Lots of little detail.
We were glad to see that Tucker and Grants relationship was growing.
Was a good read overall.
A quote we liked from the book
Mercy is for the weak. Weak, I will never. -
After having read the first two Healing Hearts novels, I didn't think anything in this book would surprise me.
I was wrong.
So many aspects to this book surprised, and even shocked me. I watched Grant from the sidelines, seeing how Tucker dealt with his and just kept thinking, "This guy's a total D-bag". Granted, not many things in this book actually changed my mind until about half way through. I started to see more of his pain, more of what he was going through, and I started to empathize with him.
Some parts of this were difficult to read...I had to flip quickly through some bits because I knew I couldn't handle them. But in reading it, I also realized that seeing everything was very important because this is how he became who he was.
Be prepared...because what you thought about Grant before?? You will change your mind. You will understand him more than you thought you could. And you will be rooting for him...

I was not a big fan of Grant at first. His story was amazing!!! He was so broken , I could understand why he behaved the way he did. What a great story!!!
