  I really tried with this but the moment the fmc said Japan got a lot to learn from Germany with reference to the Meiji period, I was done. What a weird thing to add to your manga seeing how Meiji era was during the first world war and had Germany as a major aggressor...
  
  Anyway, even without the reference I wasn't liking the manga. The mmc is too cocky and pushy, the fmc is okay for her age, since she's 16 and while the premise is intriguing, set in the Orient Express, its dialogue is too stilted to be actually a fun murder mystery.

  Reading something for one particular character has, once again, proved to end in a letdown.
  
  The art is pleasant in a cute, classic shoujo way. The detailing in furniture, patterns in clothing, and thought-out character designs elevate the mood and visual appeal while lending themselves well to the royal and slightly vintage romantic aesthetic of the manga. The same cannot be said for the characters themselves, unfortunately.
  
  Nirmal is far from what I'd hoped for from a long-awaited Indian lead. His brash, unsympathetic, and boundary crossing personality makes me unable to see myself liking the main couple in the long run, which kind of kills the efforts of the atmospheric artwork. While Mariko doesn't have a list of offenses yet, I don't find our other lead very likable either. Also, the minor characters seem to have no purpose other than
  a) doting on the heroine
  b) causing minor dilemmas,
  the latter clumping up the plot and messing with the already flawed pacing.
  
  This was largely due to the dialogue, which felt very empty when the characters weren't being borderline unbearable.
  
  Pretty art, but I'd rather just read the original Orient Express with the direction this seems to be going in.

  More than meets the eye. This manga is beautiful, its artistic style and somewhat old-fashion narrative structure is what I liked the most, added to the fact that the male protagonist is Indian, a rare thing in mangas where it does not go beyond the Japanese and the "Western". It was something fresh.
  It reminded me somewhat of the works of Kaouru Mori, so I recommend it to all those interested in her style.

  ok so this first volume was a ride. like what is happening? one second he’s alive, the next he’s not? the next is he?!? mariko is such a wonderful character tho. she has this strong sense of justice that she never wavers from and i loved that very much. also neelam… an indian mc and it’s historical? tell me less <333

  Well. I liked the characters. Mostly. I did not like Niram. Like I don't hate him but man. What are you doing. Stop.
  I feel the pacing was a bit odd during this but I still loved the aesthetic and general plot of the story. I do not know if the main couple is going to grow on me though lol.

  I heard somewhere that there’s an Indian boy as a main lead. And here I am.
  I found this to be a bit messy in it’s composition and I couldn’t stand the dialogues.
