An excellent guidebook from English Heritage. The entire history of the site, even predating the construction of the castle is touched upon. Beautifully illustrated.

I brought this whilst visiting the castle, and it is a well written, well illustrated guide book which is very informative.
If you are visiting the castle then definitely pick up a copy of this.
