Mission Unpluckable (The Bad Guys #2) Reviews

The bad good guys are back. They rescued a kitty and stray dogs from the dog pound and this time they want to rescue 10,000 chickens that are kept in cages from the Sunnyside Chicken Farm. They have another member a tarantula called Legs to help them with the hacking and rescuing.

They come with a plan of getting into Sunnyside Chicken Farm's security system. Mr. Shark is afraid of the tarantula and Mr. Snake just wants to eat the chickens instead of rescuing them. They follow the plan until things start to go wrong but Mr. Piranha sacrifices himself for the plan turning out to be the real good guy. Mr. Snake eats all the chickens but Mr. Wolf isn't going to let the snake off easy. In the end, Mr. Shark disguises himself as the mother chicken and all the chickens follow him out to safety. They come across a guinea pig called Marmalade who turns out to be the owner of the Sunnyside Chicken Farm and is out to get revenge.

This was hilarious with really good art and I loved the plot and the addition of the tarantula.

    Craziness!!!

The Bad Guys are doing a Good Deed by rescuing chickens from a chicken farm in their own unique way! Good for a smile and giggles! I have read these out of order but I have to get them when available from the library.

I read the first book in this series last year, and since I enjoyed it, I thought I'd continue and try the next one. It's still pretty funny, with a good plot and entertaining characters (including a tarantula that makes Mr. Shark really nervous).

In this installment, the Bad Guys decide to give PETA a run for their money and break into a chicken farm to free the 10,000 chickens that are being held there. With the help of their new friend, Legs, they disable the security systems and break into the place... all while wearing onesies (yes, even the piranha). But, of course, things don't go quite according to plan, since Mr. Snake really loves to eat meet chickens. I wasn't sure if we were in for a sad or happy ending for a while there.

But the resolution is funny, and there's a bit of a silly (in a good way) cliffhanger ending that leads into the next book in the series. These books are a fun little diversion. They're easy, quick reads that will probably have appeal for kids who want a little more of a challenge than a 32-page picture book.

3.5 stars. Not quite as funny as book one, but still silly as Wolf continues his mission to have Shark, Snake, Piranha and himself rebranded as The Good Guys. This time the gang decide to liberate 10,000 chickens from a farm, with the assistance of Legs the Tarantula. Snake, though, has slightly different plans....

    “Now let’s think.

    What do we do?

    We’re trapped.

It’s not just ME that’s trapped.
    And it’s not gust YOU.
    it’s US.

    We’re trapped as a TEAM.
So we need to get out of this as a TEAM.”

This time the would-be heroes face a high-tech heist to rescue chickens from a factory farm. Guarded by lazers! This mission calls from a few more hands. Eight of them...

  • Jess

Loves these books! So much fun to read to my son and he always gets a kick out of them.

  • Tara Strosnider

    Love this series so funny

  • Angel Navarro

This was very fun and enjoyable. My daughter loved it and it made her laugh more than once.
The ending was a bit meh but everything else was fun, funny and enjoyable.

    4.5/5 stars

This remains to be so charming because these dudes are really coming into this with good intentions. Well… most of them are at least. And at the end of their first journey they were so euphoric feeling like they did something good and helped their fellow animals that it does seem like there’s some hope for them yet.

The heist format of this was so fun and it was nice to see them actually do something good (well, except for snake) considering the dogs in the last book didn’t really want to be free and were afraid of them. I also loved seeing the dynamic of Shark and Legs and how they grew close and it really dove into seeing beyond your prejudices and overcoming you fears. They were willing to risk their lives for each other and we love Shark being the master of disguise.

Those would-be-good bad guys - Mr. Wolf, Mr. Snake, Mr. Piranha, and Mr. Shark - return in this second installment of their hilarious ongoing adventures. Stung when their previous effort at being heroes - i.e.: freeing two hundred dogs from the local pound - is misinterpreted in the news, Mr. Wolf launches his new plan: bust out 10,000 chickens from the extremely dangerous Sunnyside Chicken Farm. To accomplish this goal, the reluctant heroes will need the help of Legs the tarantula...

Like author/artist Aaron Blabey's first book about the (mis)adventures of this motley crew of misunderstood heroes, The Bad Guys in Mission Unpluckable was absolutely, hysterically funny! Part beginning chapter-book, part comic/graphic-novel, it provided quite a few chuckles on my evening commute yesterday, and concluded with a surprise ending (a !) that had me eager to pick up the next installment,
The Bad Guys in The Furball Strikes Back
. I can see why these books fly off the shelf at work! Recommended to anyone who read and enjoyed the first Bad Guys book.

The Bad Guys 2 I think is also very funny. There are some new characters in Bad Guys 2. A new character is introduced his name is Legs he is a spider. I really like Bad Guys one and Bad Guys two I hope they might be an interest to you.

לא מצחיק כמו הראשון בסדרה, אבל נחמד. לילדי בית ספר יסודי.

    לא רעים בכלל 2/אארון בלייבי

This book is very funny 😂. My favourite character is the wolf 🐺because he is really funny🤡.

  • Eugenio

Fun read, kids enjoying it. Love the Reservoir Dogs style for the crew.

So stupid... in a good way

This is the second book in
    The Bad Guys series by
Aaron Blabey. Since we recently read the first book, we knew what direction this tale would go in and yet I think this book is even funnier than the first.

The story has some moral lessons about doing the right thing and helping others, but overall, it's just a fun story. We are looking forward to reading more of the books in this series soon.

The good guys try to rescue 10,000 chickens from a chicken farm. Wolf brings in a new guy, Legs, to help out and snake is obsessed about trying to eat the chickens. The team tries to do a good deed but little do they know that they're making an enemy in the process.

  • Qt

4.5 stars. I liked the first one but I think I liked this one even better!

  • Adele Broadbent

I would actually give this 2nd book in this series 4.5 stars. The pictures and antics of these characters had me laughing out loud.

Mission Unpluckable - I enjoyed this episode of this series even more than the 1st.
Wolf is still determined to prove that he and his friends (Shark, Piranha, Snake and new buddy Tarantula), aren't the Bad Guys, but in fact the Good Guys. What better way to do that than free other animals from their cages?
So a local chicken farm becomes their target - the only problem being the thick concrete walls, alarm systems, laser beams and pressure sensitive walls and floors. But Wolf isn't discouraged, calling in his computer hacker buddy Tarantula to help.

Shark is petrified of spiders, which leads to hilarious situations, and Snake has plans of his own.

Looking forward to the next Episode!

These are cute and funny. Very quick reads, perfect for reluctant readers or those who like a good laugh. Aimed at the early elementary crowd.

  • Shelley

Loving this series. Quirky and Fun.
The Bad guys turned Good attempt work to change their image and perform good deeds, but sometimes their intentions are misunderstood. Even though they saved the dogs from the dog pound, the dogs end up thinking they are crazy and terrifying, instead of seeing heroes. So now wolf cooks up a new plan to save the 10,000 chickens from a farm with top level security. When there are alarms just for touching the floors and walls and laser beams everywhere, what could possibly go wrong?!

Well when you got a shark that has a deathly fear of spiders and a snake who wants to eat the chickens instead of rescuing them, there is actually a lot that could go wrong!

Kids will love these quirky characters who are just misunderstood! While their plans work, their methods are a bit unprecedented. Enjoy this quickly band of misfits adventures!!!

Perfect for fans of Dav Pilkey and Jon Scieszka!

    - No...

  • Alex

Hello! I didn't like Bad Guys 2 nearly as much as the first one, but it still continues to be funny. Less gut laughs from me this time, more chuckling. The humour really pops in the expressions and reactions of our characters. The gag of Mr. Wolf VIOLENTLY spinning Mr. Snake by the neck makes me laugh everytime, I also really like Mr. Shark and his mastery of costumes.

My only complaint here, and it's not even for this book really, but the movie, but why the absolute F did we have to make Mr. Spider a girl for the movie? Can we not just have a gang of good boys? There are other ladies they could have put in the movie from this series and I SWEAR TO GOD, If they make Shark and Spider fall in love in the movie instead of being scared of each other (but working through it together) and becoming friends imma be pissed!

Anyway thanks for reading my passionate review of a 6-8 novel

  • Jennifer (JenIsNotaBookSnob)

I really liked book 1 of The Bad Guys series and book three and four look like they will be a lot of fun as well. So far I would say that book two is the weakest in the series. My 6 year old still enjoyed it, but, I found it a bit of a drag. It just takes forever for them to get into this chicken farm. It's still funny, but, it's not funny enough to be able to enjoy listening to your kid s ..l.. o.. w ..l.. y read it to you..

This one isn't bad, it's still a lot more fun than a lot of kids books out there, it's just not anywhere near as much fun as the other books in this series.

Wolf and the rest of the 'Good Guys Club' are determined to free 10,000 chickens from a local high-security factory farm, but of course, not everything goes as planned.

These are hilarious. I highly recommend this series if you enjoy sequential art styles and humor!

Read with my 7yo, who is already obsessed, read them herself right after we read them together, and is now begging for the rest of the series.

Mr. Wolf continues to lead his 'group' of converted 'bad guys' in saving the world. In this book, a chicken farm where the chickens are kept in cages is the target. Mr. Wolf has even recruited a new member for their club. Unfortunately, Mr. Shark is terrified of spiders. But Mr. Wolf keeps the group operating, somehow. This amusing series is likely to be well-loved by reluctant readers.

  • Walt

A fun quick read that turns the fable genre on its head.
Tarantula joins the Good Guys Club of Wolf, Shark, Snake, and Piranha in freeing 10,000 chickens from a meat packing plant. In a caper worthy of Mission Impossible, this team of unlikely heroes, more akin to the Avengers or Firefly, learn to work together in a difficult mission.

Readers familiar with Babley's Pig the Pug series will appreciate the humor. Although this book clearly targets an older audience. The writing is short and quick. The action is fast and funny. Overall, this is an enjoyable story. My only qualm is that it tries to be too funny.

There are some big boy (or big girl) concepts like redemption and self-sacrifice; but these are couched in hilarious circumstances. Rarely do I laugh out loud reading books. This was delightful.
