Tom OBedlam Reviews

I read this digitally what seems a lifetime ago, but the physical copy has this unbelievable charm to it that I cannot describe. Above the beauty of this anonymous poem, the simple black and white print (reminiscent of the rise of print itself) gives it this arcane beauty that must must must be witnessed. Do yourself a favour and grab yourself a copy - I promise you won't regret it.

I found out about this adaptation from a podcast Maia was a co-guest on with Trinidad Escobar that was from a couple years ago so I'm technically late to the party, but with all great literature it's always there just waiting to be discovered no matter when it is. Wow! That word was spoken or more accurately sighed aloud by myself while scrolling through this. Every panel is absolutely stunning. I could easily gush on and on about each one. There just so...wow! All I can say is wow. Also, e mentioned on the podcast that e did this in one 24 hour sitting (I think if I understood correctly). What an impressive accomplishment. I only wish I had a physical copy of this book so I could just spend time deeply admiring the artwork. I read this online and looking at a computer screen is just different from holding a physical copy. I'm old fashioned like that.
Speaking of online. The creator's site (redgoldsparkspress) is FILLED with amazing artwork. Exploring eir site was like discovering a hidden treasure trove of awesomeness. Before coming across this I had only seen eir work in 2 anthologies I read and eir entries in those were so completely different. I've always been fascinated with artists who have the ability to do that.
Once again...WOW!
Thank you Maia Kobabe.
