Best of Laxman Vol. 4 Reviews
-
I completed this book on the next day the results of general elections in India were announced. The political cartoons sketched by the great R.K.Laxman are relevant even today.Even, the description of politicians and political parties of India is near perfect.
Hence, the whole collection in my opinion is perfect. The book is just too good!!!! -
It is always a pleasure to read up. May have to find and finish other volumes as well.

R.K. Laxman is a genius and his cartoons are timeless. What else can one say?! ❤️

The best of Laxman - Common man at home.
Rating 4/5
A light and refreshing read. This book comprises of cartoons on each page plus one or two lines indicating both satire and sarcasm. There is a very specific reason I read RK Laxman. On days when I cannot readlly think too much, when I am tired to read, but still want to read, I choose RK Laxman. This time I was on a reading slump unable to read, hence this book acted as a boost.
There is not much to review about a book which has whole lot of cartoons and one liners describing humour. Most cartoons revolve around political humour, sarcasm, ignorance and apathy of people and politicians.
RK Laxman has also hinted at the resilience of the people of India who have gotten used to the lifestyle where they end up with loads of promises by the politicians but get none in action.
The cartoons are dated, but the political system is such that, not much has changed in those years betwen which it was written and now.
Cheers, -
R.K.Laxman is a master of satire. Each and every frame brings a smile on the face. The cartoons are mostly about politics, Indian airlines, and technology. It brilliantly exposes the hypocrisy of our politicians. I am surprised to see how relevant the cartoons are even in this era. The presence of the common man in different forms is an added delight.

The common-man never stop one from thinking. More importantly we also know that India and its politicians have never changed. Thats the silver lining.
His classic cartoons will live on FOREVER in India I think. -
Political Satire at its best! And the cartoons are relevant for any country in the subcontinent. The only difference is, India rewarded R K Laxman with an honorary doctoate and a 'Padma Bhushan', but if it were in the other two countries, well, the rest is silence!........
