Honestly I'd give this book 4 and a half stars, but the rating system here doesn't allow for it.
Normally I don't like to read books where the main lead is female. It's not that I have anything against women, but I'll admit that I don't get their way of thinking and so I often find myself not interested. Secondly I tend to stay away from love stories for almost the same reasons.
Luckily this story has some interesting things going for it. The idilic descriptions of post-depression small town america and growing up in that environment. Being a young adult at the beginning of WWII and the pressures on men to serve. The mental anguish of those men who returned from battle injured.
I will have to say that I was rather dissappointed that my copy of this book was missing nine pages due to some kind of printing error. 5 pages in one section and another 4 in a later section. The missing pages didn't totally distract from the overall story but it would have been nice to read what was on them.
***In a side note*** I wrote the author to inform her of the missing pages. She sent me a signed copy with the pages intact so now I know what I missed out on earlier!*** -
Mon avis :
