'The Star and Sixpence sparkles with fun, romance, mystery, and a hunky blacksmith. It's a real delight' Julie Cohen

'Like the dream pub landlady who always knows exactly what you want, Holly Hepburn has created the most delightful welcome to what promises to be a brilliant series, in the first Star and Sixpence. The sisters who inherit a tired local and must bring it back to life are warm and intriguing, the neighbours are (mostly!) friendly and the gossip is utterly addictive. I was very sad when it was time for last orders, and am already looking forward to the next round. Especially if a certain blacksmith happens to be at the bar...' Kate Harrison

'Warm, witty and utterly charming, Snowdrops at the Star and Sixpence is the perfect book to curl up with on a cold winter's day. It left me with the most wonderful happy glow' Cally Taylor

'Warm, witty and laced with intriguing secrets! I want to pull up a bar stool, order a large G&T and soak up all the gossip at the Star and Sixpence!' Cathy Bramley

'A super sparkling star of a story and I can’t wait for part two’ Alexandra Brown

Another great section to the year at the Star and Sixpence. whole of the Villiage had been waiting for the moment between Owen and Nessie on Christmas Day. I'm pleased it finished on the two sisters "To Dad" he made them have things they didn't even realise they didn't have. "To another year at the Star and Sixpence.

  • Emma Star Crossed Reviews

This review was originally posted on Star Crossed Reviews This is the final part of the Star and Sixpence series. I am immensely sad that this series is over. I was drawn to the first book Snowdrops at the Star and Sixpence because of it’s christmassy cover. I had an Amazon gift voucher so I purchased a kindle copy and loved the sound of it so much I read it pretty soon after. It has been a killer of a year having to wait for each part and I devoured each one.

In the final part Owen’s ex -mother in law comes to visit and things do not go smoothly. Nessie and Owen are slowly progressing their relationship however things are thwarted again with the arrival of Gweneth.

Sam and Nick are going strong with their ‘relationship’ and the media have finally left her alone. But with Nick away filming it gives Sam some time to think about what she really wants.

This is a lovely Christmas read. It’s perfect for that post dinner rest on Christmas day or when the family gets to much and you need to escape.

I cant wait to read Holly’s new series The Picture House by the Sea in the new year.

    Idee: 5/5

    Charaktere: 5/5

    Logik: 4/5

    Spannung: 5/5

    Emotionen: 5/5

    Gesamt: 5/5

Book 4 of a 4 part book series, been wanting to read this set of books for ages. Note to readers, you can either read this as a 4 part book series or there is a full length novel which includes all of the 4 parts. The choice is yours.

So book 4 the final book to the series, and I have to say it was the perfect ending to end all endings, bought all of the characters stories to a happy conclusion, they all got their happy endings.

I’ve thoroughly enjoyed the series, very well written and full on entertainment and drama throughout.

  • Sam

This is the final book in the series, following Sisters Sam and Nessie in their new business at The Star and Sixpence public house.

I have loved every one of the books and this one did not disappoint. It tied up all the loose ends beautifully. I will definitely read more books written by Holly Hepburn

  • Liza

I really loved the whole series of Star and Sixpence novellas. So much so that I didn't want them to end and I miss the whole village of Little Monkham. I hope there might be an occasional short story or an occasional novella in the future. Wonderful stories!

  • Peggy

Sam has the worst luck with men and she never learns, does she? How can she still speak to, no less employ Gabe after the way he spoke to her, really?? Not a good example for modern women that's for sure.

  • Rianonne

    3,5 stars

  • Heather Graham

I didn't want the book to end.
One can only hope there will be more in the series at a later stage.

  • Sarah Kenny

This set of books have been a real treat to read. Just an easy read and one I didn't want to put down. Feel a bit sad it's finished. I love a happy ending.....

I have loved this series so much. I don't want this to be the last book. It's been lovely catching up with everyone at the star and sixpence every season. I'm sad to finish it.

This is a perfect Christmas read and a wonderful way to finish this fabulous series.

Carols are being sung. San and Nessie are still going strong with their pub and their love lives are finally going on track. I feel that we have gone full circle and ended up with happy ever after a all round.

I really am sad to finish this series I have loved visiting Little Monkham and catching up with all the goings on over the year. Thank you for putting a smile on my face every time I have read the next instalment.

I do have to say that I am so looking forward to the next series of books all about the picture house by the sea. I have already preordered all of the ones that I can do far.

    Which are

Brief encounter at the picture house by the sea
Dirty dancing at the picture house by the sea
Singing in the rain at the picture house by the sea
Some like it hot at the picture house by the sea
High noon at the picture house by the sea.

I am so looking forward to these books. Holly is firmly rooted in my list of favourite authors.

    Happy reading everyone

    Love, love, love!

I have enjoyed all of the books in the Star and Sixpence series and hope that there will be many more! Lovely heart warming stories that make you wish you could visit Sam and Nessie at the pub. I would recommend this series to anyone who enjoys a light read that makes you smile and makes you feel warm and cosy.

My only criticism is that the stories are too short :( I feel they are over too soon and wish they would go on a lot longer!

  • Stephanie Wood

This was a lovely fun and festive read. I haven't read the rest of the series, but there was enough explanation for the story to flow without spoiling the finer details of the earlier books. Now I want to go back and start at the beginning to get Sam and Nessie's complete story!

    Just what I needed :)

Love the sentiment - love the warmth - like a familiar hug from a friend. A little pinch of Christmas spice.
